Russell Dickerson and Lady A’s collaborative new version of “Home Sweet” is out today, November 19th, on all streaming platforms. Learn more about the brand new track below.
Lady A joined Russell Dickerson on a new collaborative version of the artist’s hit song “Home Sweet”. A tune we already know and love is made even better with the incredible vocals and harmonies from the group.
Dickerson’s original “Home Sweet” serves as the current radio single from his latest album Southern Symphony. It is a love song to his wife about the perhaps abnormal lifestyle that they live given his career. It centers on the idea that no matter where they are – whether it is in their home, some run-down hotel room, or their tour bus – when they’re together, they’re home. A sentiment that Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood also know all too well. For each of them, and for so many people that can relate, sometimes home just means being with your person or your family, and not a specific address.
You feel that authenticity and relatability out of each of them in this new collaboration of “Home Sweet”.
“No, there ain’t nothing like // Home sweet, you and me // Ain’t got much but we got all we need // Wherever the wind blows // Wherever this life goes // Baby, all I know, ain’t nothing like // Home sweet // You and me”
These artists have been keeping busy and are looking forward to even more exciting times in 2022. Dickerson released a new song last week with Jake Scott called “She Likes It”. The release was followed shortly by another announcement earlier this week of his 2022 All Yours, All Night Tour. The tour kicks off in NYC on January 25th at Irving Plaza.
Lady A, having just come off their tour, released their new album last monthWhat A Song Can Do.

Lady A’s new album, What A Song Can Do is out now, October 22nd on all streaming platforms. Featuring fourteen tracks co-written by the band, the project includes “Like a Lady,” “Talk of This Town,” and “Friends Don’t Let Friends,” with Thomas Rhett, Carly Pearce, and Darius Rucker. Listen to the new music and read our full review below.
Back in June, Lady A released its What A Song Can Do (Chapter One) EP, composed of seven of the trio’s strongest songs to date. Today, October 22, the consistent hitmakers released the full album of the same name, featuring those initial tracks in addition to seven more.
All but one of the album’s fourteen songs are co-written by at least one member of the band, along with the likes of Ryan Hurd, Thomas Rhett, Natalie Hemby, Ashley Gorley, and Dave Barnes. That personal touch is evident here, with Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, and Dave Haywood each turning in standout performances.
The first half of the album is highlighted by the high-energy “Like a Lady,” the introspective “Worship What I Hate” and “What A Song Can Do,” and the sentimental “Things He Handed Down.” These are all themes that continue into the album’s second half.
The high energy continues on “You Keep Thinking That” and “Friends Don’t Let Friends.” The former is an R&B-infused, Scott-led track, inviting an ex to keep thinking that she isn’t able to move on. “I hate to break it to ya // That I’ve been seeing someone new,” She coos, her voice tinted with revenge. “And he ain’t anything like you.”
Meanwhile, on “Friends Don’t Let Friends,” Lady A trade verses with famous friends including co-writer Thomas Rhett, Carly Pearce, and Darius Rucker. The bluesy, radio-ready track is an ode to making bad decisions with your friends, the supergroup singing, “Friends don’t let friends // Drink alone.”
On “Where Would I Be” and “In Waves” show the more introspective side of Lady A. On the latter, they deal with a breakup, admitting that the healing is something that happens in waves and stages. “Where Would I Be” they find themselves wondering where they’d be in life had they not made tiny choices. “Where would I be // If I hadn’t spent that summer // Waiting tables in my hometown?” Scott asks, “Oh, where, where would I be? // If I hadn’t spilled your drink // And you never asked me out.” They continue wondering, “God only knows // If you never found me // Where would I be?”
“Workin’ On This Love” is a rare-Haywood led track, the sensitive singer-songwriter’s voice, accompanied but not overshadowed by harmonies from his bandmates. Co-written solely by the mega-talented and often-forgotten Haywood, the track celebrates love in its purest form. “Baby I believe // We’re framing history // I wanna roll my sleeves up every day,” He sings. “Get to workin’ on this love we’ve made.”
The sparse, piano-driven “Swore I Was Leaving” closes the album, and it’s truly Lady A at its finest, trading beautiful harmonies over a relatively simple country ballad. Here, their voices soar and the lyrics shine, as Kelley and Scott lament over a relationship that just can’t end. “We both know what’s coming at the end of the night,” They admit over a sultry guitar riff. “I swore I was leaving // But with us // It’s never goodbye.”
Produced by Dan Haff, What a Song Can Do shows Lady A at its very best. “We’ve rediscovered our purpose, and it’s to entertain and spread a positive message –I really truly believe that,” Kelley revealed in a statement. “I want our legacy to be songs that make people feel good. …But I also think there’s more to our story that hasn’t been written yet.”
Scott agrees, sharing “We are all living in the now together…we’re all a work in progress, and that is what we wanted to share with these songs.”
That work in progress is evident here, as the album focuses heavily on songs with powerful lyrics and beautiful harmonies. If you’re wondering what a song can do, just take a listen to this LP.

All of the greats we know and love today were once the opening acts, too. Get to know today’s openers from summer 2021’s hottest country music tours.
Not only did your favorite superstars reunite with the stage this past summer, but your future favorite entertainers had the opportunity to share it with them this country concert season as well. Country music is famous for having incredible ‘superstars-to-be’ open for their major tours, and here at Country Swag, we have your guide to all the of the show openers. Learn more about this year’s opening acts below.
Tenille Arts just earned her first #1 on country radio with the smash “Somebody Like That”, following the release of her second studio album, Love, Heartbreak & Everything In Between. All her hard work is paying off this year, as she gears up for new releases and as summer set in, Arts found herself as the opening act on on Lady A’s ‘What A Song Can Do Tour’. Tenille Arts is without a doubt one of the best vocalists and songwriters of this new class of country artists and if you caught the show, you will probably agree.
Matt Stell, one of our artists to watch and Live Swag Session alums is taking over country music one single at a time. His debut single, “Prayed For You” is one of the most popular love songs in country music, and his new single, “That Ain’t Me No More” has been sent to country radio. This summer, he joined Old Dominion and Miranda Lambert on their respective run of shows.
Lainey Wilson and HARDY were both opening acts for Jason Aldean’s ‘Back In The Saddle Tour’ and if you caught the show, you know they rightfully earned their time in the spotlight. This isn’t the first time the two have toured together either; they opened for Morgan Wallen on his first headline tour over two years ago. HARDY and Wilson both released critically acclaimed albums in the past year (A ROCK and Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, respectively) and as those albums indicated, their fiery songs got fans up and out of their seats each and every night just as fast as they sat down in them!
The full list of country tours and their opening acts are listed below. One of the best feelings is when you go to a show not knowing the opener and leaving a forever fan. If that rings true for the show’s you attended this year, be sure to remember their names, follow them on socials, stream the music and get ready to see those artists when they head back your way. For New York City country fans, head to our calendar to find out when the next shows in the area are.

Lady A’s new project, What A Song Can Do (Chapter One), is out now, June 25th on all streaming platforms. Featuring seven new tracks by the GRAMMY-Award winners, including “Like A Lady,” take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.
Lady A is going back to basics, embracing what made the band a success in its earliest days on their new collection of music, What A Song Can Do (Chapter One), out today, June 25. Produced by the legendary Dann Huff, the seven-track project features the harmonies and musical styles that made Lady A one of country music’s hottest groups.
Fueled by the events of 2020, each song on What A Song Can Do is co-written by at least one member of the band, alongside some of country’s biggest hitmakers. Other big-name writers on the EP include Ryan Hurd, Natalie Hemby, Nicolle Galyon, Dave Barnes, Thomas Rhett, and more.
On the EP’s title track, the trio celebrates the amazing powers of a great song, as they muse “Ain’t it crazy what a song can do?” Featuring Charles Kelley on lead with Hillary Scott’s perfect accompaniment, the track is Lady A at its finest. A simple song has the power to change one’s mood or even change one’s life, and this song, written by Kelley, Sam Ellis, Hurd, and Laura Veltz, does just that, immediately sure to lift a listener’s spirits.
The collection’s first track, “Talk of this Town,” shows Lady A dealing with heartbreak in a unique way. Over the melancholy music and haunting drumline, Scott and Kelley trade verses about how they no longer want to be the topic of town gossip. Written by Scott, Kelley, Dave Haywood, Galyon, and Jordan Reynolds, the song finds the pair praying for anything to happen in their small town to distract people from their breakup. “Baby I could get over you,” They sing.“If you and I could be old news.”
“Like A Lady,” is a perfect female empowerment track, as evidenced by the band’s performance at the CMT Awards, which featured other female powerhouses including Carly Pearce and Lindsay Ell. Meanwhile, “Chance of Rain” wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Lady A’s earliest albums, and that’s a good thing. Written by Haywood and Kelley with Topher Brown and Justin Ebach, the song is about taking chances and embracing life.
“Never going all in ’cause you’re scared of goodbye // Is like never seeing Paris ’cause you’re scared to fly,” they sing.“Never falling in love’ cause a chance of pain // Is like never seeing summer ’cause a chance of rain.”
Lady A is more introspective on “Things He Handed Down” and “Worship What I Hate.” On the former, they sing about the wise words of wisdom handed down from a father or grandfather, in a way that’s remnant of Chris Young’s “Voices.” Meanwhile, on the EP’s final track, “Worship What I Hate,” Lady A tackles tougher subjects, including body image, alcoholism, and technology addiction. With Scott on lead, the track is a moving and much-needed look at how easy it is to fall into unhealthy habits and begin worshipping the things we claim to hate. “I keep looking at myself in the mirror // Hoping it will change,” she sings. “And I keep wishing for a brand-new body // That I didn’t have to blame.”
On What A Song Can Do (Chapter One), Lady A truly embraces the EP’s title, offering a collection that embodies everything music can do. There are songs here that can make you dance, make you cry, shake the ground, and steal your breath. Ain’t it crazy what a song, and a great chapter of music, can do?

Lady A’s new song, “Like A Lady” is available now, March 12th on all streaming platforms. Written by the group’s Hillary Scott with Dave Barnes, Michelle Buzz, Martin Johnson, and Brandon Paddock, and produced by acclaimed producer Dan Huff, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.
Country music’s newest female empowerment anthem is here. ‘Like a Lady’ is an upbeat, funky song that’s sure to be the soundtrack to your next road trip with your best girls. The retro feel and empowering lyrics follow the trio’s hit “Champagne Night”, which premiered last year on NBC’s Songland and recently hit number one back in January.
“I feel my most confident when I’m not trying too hard,” leading lady Hillary Scott explains in a press release. “I love getting glammed up and all the fancy clothes, but when I feel the most ‘me,’ it’s a lot more laid back – and I think that’s a lot of us. You are your most authentic self in blue jeans with a tequila drink, ya know? As we were writing it, I was like ‘It’s always been my dream to do a song that combines the things I love about Dolly Parton’s ‘9 to 5’ and Shania Twain’s ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ – two of the most strong, powerful female songs ever,” Scott continued. “So it was like ‘How can we do our version of that?’”
‘Like a Lady’ may speak to the independence of being a woman, but the two male members of the band, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, were happy to jump in as allies. “We were some of the biggest champions for ‘Like A Lady’ and we’re honored to stand alongside Hillary,” says Haywood. “We’ve had a front-row seat to her strength over the years and we love linking arms with her on this song.” Scott adds, “It’s incredible that Charles and Dave, in all their masculinity, are willing to sing right alongside me on this song. I think that is another powerful statement. It’s super important for strong, great men to stand beside women and propel them forward.”
“I feel like a lady / sippin’ on tequila with my Levis on / a lady / singing to the music playing all night long / yeah I’m feeling right / I’m living my life / I do what I like / ‘cause I feel like a lady”
Lady A’s new song “Like A Lady” is available everywhere now, March 12th
A new song isn’t the only thing Hillary Scott has to celebrate. This month, she is one of 31 female leaders from diverse industries featured in the Dress For Success backed “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign in honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day.
The track will likely be a fan favorite when the band can eventually get back on the road, but for now as the weather gets nicer this is the song to roll down the windows and jam out to.

Lady A’s Ocean Deluxe Album is available now, November 20th.
Lady A captivated fans with the release of their eighth studio album ‘Ocean’ last fall, and now the deluxe album is here! Featuring three new songs plus three reimagined tracks from the original record, the multi-platinum trio is excited to offer a new way for listeners to experience the project.
“It’s crazy to think this album is only turning a year old because it has already been part of so many moments for us as a band,” Hillary Scott said in a press release earlier this month. “We wanted to share a couple of never-released tracks and put a spin on some others that have been fun to play around with during quarantine.”
The album’s lead single in 2019, “What If I Never Get Over You” skyrocketed to the top of the country airplay charts, becoming the band’s first number-one song since 2014. The deluxe version was recorded live from Nashville music venue, 3rd and Lindsley. The at-home version of ‘Let It Be Love’ is beautifully simple with only piano accompaniment.
‘Champagne Night’, the single that came from NBC’s Songland, is new to the project but not to listeners. The deluxe album features both the original song and a tiki bar version that will seemingly transport you from your house straight to an imaginary beach.
The two brand new tracks, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Underwater’ match the pure harmonies and deep lyrics that made Ocean such a departure from the trio’s more recent sound. ‘Heroes’ featuring fellow BMLG recording artist, Thomas Rhett is a homage to the country legends we have lost.
“All of my heroes have died / but lord may they rest in peace / oh so here’s to the songs that will always live on / from now until eternity”
Band member Charles Kelley sings the melody line in ‘Underwater’, a haunting ballad about relying on those we love to pull us through.
“Hear the silence / hear them screaming / you’re the only one who can hear it / I’m a whisper / I’m a secret / and you’re the only one who can keep it / you just know me like you know nobody else can / you just understand me underwater”
One thing that country music fans can rely on during these trying times is that their favorite artists continue to write, record, and release some incredible music that we can all lean on.
