Old Dominion Drop Brand New Song “All I Know About Girls” Ahead of Upcoming Album

Old Dominion’s new song “All I Know About Girls” is out now, August 20th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new track.

After releasing the jam of the summer, “I Was On A Boat That Day,” Old Dominion shows no signs of slowing down. As we anticipate their next full-length record, the platinum-selling band is giving us more music to hold us all over. Today, Old Dominion dropped their new song “All I Know About Girls.”

The song is a vibe in itself. The simple instrumentation paired with the enticing lyrics is the perfect combination. Lead singer, Matthew Ramsey croons on the track, as he sings about the irony of knowing “nothing” about girls. The song is so easy to listen to and will get caught in any listener’s head.

“I’m a jack of all trades and master of none // A renaissance man if there’s ever been one // I got a pretty good handle on a lot of things // But I ain’t figured out everything // Cause all I know about girls is this wide world ain’t gonna spin without em // But it’ll spin around them // All I know about girls is you best get out of their way // Shut your damn mouth if they got something to say”

The intricate lyrics empower women and remind men to put their girl on a pedestal. Old Dominion continuously creates music that is innovative and special. We are looking forward to their next release!

The brand new jam joins “I was On a Boat That Day” as the first two songs off Old Dominion’s upcoming studio album. The band announced today that their next record Time, Tequila & Therapy will drop on October 8th. Fans can pre-order the new project now!

Old Dominion Release Summer Jam, “I Was On a Boat That Day”

Old Dominion dropped a brand new, carefree summer jam, “I Was On a Boat That Day”. Available now, May 21st, on all streaming platforms, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new song.

It’s been a little while since we’ve heard new music from the Old Dominion, but they’re back with a perfect carefree summer jam. “I Was on a Boat That Day” is all about letting loose of all of life’s responsibilities and not worrying about anything but having a good time.

The song paints a picture of the subject going through a breakup, but instead of dwelling on the situation, they are just living carefree in the moment and taking their mind off of things by enjoying themselves on a boat. Who doesn’t love a good boat day? There are no broken hearts here, as the subject is not worried about anything else like what may have happened yesterday or what the future might hold. They have friends, perfect weather, the water, a boat, and drinks to enjoy. Isn’t that where we’d all rather be right now!?

“Is she gone for the summer? // gone for the night? // gone for the weekend or the rest of my life? // was she laughing? was she crying as she walked away? // I can’t say, I was on a boat that day // The river was rollin’ // I was getting my float on / She was telling me so long // I was already so long gone”

5 Unreleased Cuts From Instagram That We Are Loving

Maybe it’s just us, but it seems that it is now trendy for country artists to give fans a taste of what’s to come via Instagram. We are noticing that so many singer-songwriters are previewing unreleased materials and even demos to fans via their social media, just to keep fans excited.

Whatever the reason, we are absolutely loving it! We shared some of our favorites last year, here and here, and now we’re sharing some of our new faves from the past few weeks.

1. “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old”- Luke Combs

One of our saving graces during this past year, Luke Combs continues to be a man that is all about the fans! Recently, he posted a video of himself singing a new unreleased tune that could easily fit into his latest project. “Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old” is a must record!

2. “Mama Prayed For”- Meghan Patrick

One of the most unique picks on our list, Meghan Patrick’s unreleased song “Mama Prayed For” is a masterpiece in the making. The Canadian country star is on the brink of success here in the states. It is only a matter of time! This particular song features her insane vocal range, her unique songwriting, and her ability to relate through her music.

3. “No Hard Feelings”- Old Dominion

Honestly, Old Dominion can do no wrong in our eyes. “No Hard Feelings” has already got fans asking when it is going to be released. Clearly, in the songwriting mode, the men of Old Dominion are cranking out demo after demo this year, and we are here for it! This unreleased jam will be a perfect addition to their setlist.

4. “Perfect Imperfections”- Tucker Beathard

Tucker Beathard has been quietly doing his thing on social media all quarantine long. He is not one to fight for attention, continuously proving that he is an artist above all else. Although there were a few unreleased tracks to choose from, “Perfect Imperfections” captured our hearts. The mellow and emotional tune is all about love and recognizing all the details about your partner. Swoon-worthy for sure!

5. Untitled- Madison Kozak

Madison Kozak is one of our favorite singer-songwriters on the scene right now. Her voice is strong, yet ethereal, but it is her ability to craft a lyric that gets us every time. She has been having a lot of fun sharing her writes and demos on social media, but this untitled song is tugging at our heartstrings the most.

Keep up with NY Country Swag, as we will be sure to let you know ASAP, if any of these songs are released! Fans can join our Weekly Round-Up e-newsletter here, for the latest in country music and more news about future releases.

There is a reason Old Dominion continues to sell out show after show. The group is one of the most beloved country music groups in the industry right now. With three full-length projects already released, their catalog of songs is nothing short of extraordinary. Check out our favorite deep cuts below…

“New York at Night”- Happy Endings

“That electric energy / Something tells me you’re gonna keep me going til the morning light / Girl you’re like / New York at night”

Off their sophomore record Happy Endings, “New York at Night” is a hidden gem. We still remember seeing them perform this song at during their dive bar tour at a small venue in Manhattan, and it makes it even more special.

“Nowhere Fast”- Meat and Candy

“Breakin’ new ground in my back seat / We had our foot on the gas / Goin nowhere fast”

This is one of those songs that never made it to radio, but had all the appeal. Catchy, fun to listen to, and a certified car-jam, “Nowhere Fast” is one of the best songs off their debut record.

“Hear You Now”- Old Dominion

“In the middle of the night, I can / Hear you now, clear and loud, hear you now / Like a wheel in my mind”

Off their newest, self-titled record, “Hear Your Now” is one of my personal favorites. The track speaks about missing the signs and not listening well in the beginning, but then ultimately finally hearing your partner, although it may be too late. The track is personal, yet relatable, a perfect slow-jam.

“Wrong Turns”- Meat and Candy

“Watching miles go by / Like she just don’t care / Looking at me with / One thing on my mind / Woah / I guess I’m making all the right wrong turns tonight”

Another song off their debut record, “Wrong turns” is a clever slow-burn that feels so authentic to Old Dominion’s signature sound and style.

“I’ll Roll”- Old Dominion

“I’ll roll, I can be a navigator / I’ll roll, I’ll be on my best behavior / I’ll roll, east, west, north to south / I’ll roll, baby, break the good stuff out and I’ll roll”

“I’ll Roll” is a hidden gem off their self-titled record. The song is unlike any other song in country music. It’s smooth, creative, and bouncy, while telling an interesting story. Personally, the chorus is my favorite part.

“Still Writing Songs About You”- Happy Endings

“A man like me should find inspiration in anything / But here I am in this hotel room / Still writing songs about / You and sun Santa Monica freeway”

Rounding out our list, “Still Writing Songs About You” may be one of our favorite Old Dominion songs. The ballad is tender, honest, and features lyrics that we just cannot get enough of. Of course, the vocals are just as captivating.

Josh Melton Drops New Song “One Day” Written with Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi

New artist Josh Melton’s new song, “One Day” is available now on all streaming platforms.

Josh Melton One Day

Back in August, we highlighted new artist Josh Melton in our Swag Spotlight series. With talent, charisma, and charm, the singer continues to shake up the country music scene in all the best ways. Most recently, Melton has released a brand new song called “One Day.”

The new track was written by the singer with Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi and hit songwriter Justin Ebach. With a start-studded group of songwriters like that, it is obvious that the new single has to be a good one. Melton does not disappoint, as “One Day” is the perfect addition to his song catalog. With a focus on positivity and good times, the track is as nostalgic as a song can get – the perfect song to kick off 2021.

“The bad news kinda hard to hear / As long as there’s still fish to fry and back porches still got Christmas lights / Imma keep on living my life / On my own time / Cause I ain’t waiting on one day / One day ain’t waiting on me”

Melton is poised at expressing himself through lyrics while giving fans a refreshing perspective and sonically-pleasing jam. Like his song “Staycation,” “One Day” is sure to land on playlists across the streaming platforms and in the hearts of country music lovers everywhere. We look forward to seeing what is coming down the pipeline next for the budding artist.

Caitlyn Smith and Old Dominion Duet on “I Can’t” from Deluxe Album

Caitlyn Smith and Old Dominion teamed up for a duet on a reimagined version of “I Can’t” from Smith’s Supernova deluxe album.

Back in March, Caitlyn Smith released her sophomore album Supernova at the forefront of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Despite all obstacles of the unprecedented times and the lack of balance felt throughout the world, Smith’s album soared high and well. With praise from practically every media platform and the collection itself reaching #1 on the Apple Music Singer/Songwriter Album Chart, the songstress is back on the airwaves with a deluxe edition to Supernova.

The former solo vocal production of “I Can’t” is now joined and rediscovered through a partnership with Old Dominion, dubbing the duet the group’s first-ever collaboration track.

Smith’s rendition of “I Can’t” fulfills the powerhouse artistry and high-esteemed singer-songwriter category. The lyrics are emotional and unrevealing, while the balance of strength and helplessness keeps the listener engaged through the efforts of interpretation. Though the story behind the lyrics is unclear, the portrayed aftermath holds a significant delicacy that is just as metaphysical to describe. Simply put, “I Can’t” intoxicates the listener well enough to put on a loop.

Caitlyn Smith and Old Dominion I Can't

With Old Dominion reintroducing the track as a collaboration, the auditory motion picture that Smith initially executed is given a new layer of weight and substance. Matthew Ramsey, who acts as the male lead vocalist, offers an entirely additional perspective and personality by assuming the role of the previously considered intangible figure who is mentioned through lyric.

“All the time and the whiskey I’ve wasted / That I ain’t ever getting back / And I’ve tried to find the courage just to face it / But I can’t, I can’t / And I’m tired of you feeling like a stranger / Over and over again / Oh, when everything around me keeps changing / But I can’t, I can’t, I can’t”

This rendition of Smith’s “I Can’t” with Old Dominion is not merely a collaboration. It’s an incredibly skilled and transformative duet that successfully moves like a ballad or an intense yet vulnerable contemporary dance of words. A prominent hardcore and interactive duet that compliments the originally noteworthy, sentimental, and mentally exclusive solo vocal production.

Supernova, the deluxe album, also includes a cover of “Fix You” which Smith released exclusively as an Amazon Original back in May.

To keep up with Caitlyn Smith, follow her on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter.

“I Can’t” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released tunes on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.
