Dierks Bentley, BRELAND & HARDY Collaborate on “Beers On Me”

Dierks Bentley teamed up with rising stars, HARDY and BRELAND, on new drinking song, “Beers On Me,” available now, July 29th, on all streaming platforms. Bentley, HARDY, BRELAND, Ross Copperman, Luke Dick, and Ashley Gorley all contributed to the writing and producing of the track. Keep reading below as we dig deeper into the new song.

After “Gone” marked Bentley’s 20th number-one hit last month, the star surprised fans by finally releasing a new track. “Beers On Me” is a fun, bar sing-along for everyone who had their heart broke, has been stressed at work, or are finally ready to celebrate and put this past year and a half behind us. To the great pleasure of the crowd, the singer offers to pay everyone’s tabs. Bentley takes the first verse and choruses, while HARDY and BRELAND provide backing vocals and take the second and third verses, respectively. BRELAND brings trap to the track as he talks/raps his verse.

Come on down // swing on by // Bring whatever’s been on your mind // Locals on tap / and bottles on ice // livin’ on feel-good standard time // My card’s on the bar // you’ve got nowhere to be // If you don’t come through // buddy, that’s on you // ‘cause the beer’s on me

BRELAND opened for Bentley on his first few shows back, and the two quickly became friends. Although he and HARDY will not be joining Bentley on his tour of the same name, he will have the support of Riley Green and Parker McCollum starting August 13th in Salt Lake City, Utah. The tour hits the New York area at Jones Beach on September 24th. For tickets, head to his website.

Dierks Bentley Earns 20th #1 Single with “Gone”

Dierks Bentley’s song “Gone” rises to the top of the country music charts this week, earning him his 20th number-one single at country radio.

Dierks Bentley is one of the most recognizable names in the country music genre. Back in October, he released his brand new single, “Gone,” and it was clear then that he had another hit on his hands. Today, Bentley’s song “Gone” is officially the number one song at country radio.

Written by Nicolle Galyon, Ben Johnson, and singer-songwriter, Niko Moon, “Gone” was primed for greatness. The song is all about a man going into hiding when his lover walks out of him. Bentley manages to bring the broodiness and the cheekiness to life with this creative tune. When asked about the song, the singer related it to how he felt sitting at home during the quarantine. He missed being out on the road.

“My buddies think I’m on the lake // Boss thinks I’ve been sick for days // And mama’s probably on her way // ‘Cause I ain’t picked up the phone // I’ve been a million places // But they’re all up in my head // Over-drinking, overthinking ever since you left // I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone”

“Gone” overtook Luke Combs’ mega-hit “Forever After All,” which sat in the top spot for three weeks straight. The song is Bentley’s second consecutive #1, following “Living.” It marks an impressive twenty number ones for the superstar.

Dierks Bentley Returns With Brand New Song “Gone”

Dierks Bentley’s new song, “Gone” is available now, October 22nd, on all streaming platforms. Written by Ben Johnson, Nicolle Galyon, and Niko Moon, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

It’s been almost two and a half years since multi-platinum singer/songwriter, Dierks Bentley released his ninth studio album, The Mountain. Fans were beginning to wonder what the “Burning Man” singer was up to during quarantine besides spending his time up in the Colorado mountains and reviving the Hot Country Knights. Bentley has been teasing a new track on his socials all week and today, October 22nd, he officially released “Gone” on all streaming platforms and to country radio.

“Country music is the best genre for storytelling, and I feel like we are realizing it probably now more than ever since we can’t congregate together at concerts, high five each other, sing and shout at the top of our lungs,” Bentley said in a recent press release. “A good country show is just about the greatest communion there is out there.”

Written by Nicolle Galyon, Ben Johnson, and Niko Moon, this new and catchy tune is about a man who goes into hiding and ghosts his family, friends, and boss because he cannot handle his former lover walking out on him. Instead of being productive, he just sits around all day trying to “figure out how a good thing went wrong.” Being married with three kids, Bentley has a less-literal interpretation of this song but instead relates the woman to touring and the fans he can no longer see due to quarantine and the pandemic.

Dierks Bentley’s New Song “Gone” is available now

“I’ve been a million places but they’re all up in head  / Over-drinking overthinking ever since you left / I’ve been gone, I’ve been gone / I’ve been sitting on the couch watching TV all day long / All day long, I’ve been tryin’ to figure out how a good thing went wrong”

“We are all relying on lyrics and melodies at home and trying however we can to find different ways to connect with our fans, so that they know how important they still are to us,” Bentley expressed. “I hope this song resonates with mine, and I’m counting the days until we can all be back together again, beers in the air.”

Fans can virtually sing along to this radio-friendly track at the 2020 iHeartCountry Festival that Bentley is headlining tomorrow night, streaming live at 8:00 PM on LiveXLive.

NYCS First Impression: Hot Country Knights ‘The K Is Silent’

Hot Country Knights

Many people thought this moment would never come. But in spite of 30 wasted years and countless bad decisions, the ’90s influenced country band, Hot Country Knights, have finally released their debut album, The K is Silent. Since signing a recording deal with Universal Music Group, the Knights have come riding in to save country music from itself, with the promise of resurrecting that real ’90s country sound that made so many fans fall in love with the genre.

“Some artists out there tried to put the ‘O’ back in country, that was a thing for a while….but what it’s really missing is the ‘T,’” front-man Douglas (“Doug”) Douglason said. “Country music has Low-T right now…it could use a pick me up, if you know what I mean. Those record label people over at Universal finally realized that only the Knights could be up to a task this big and hard.”

And big they went. This 10-track record begins with a song simply titled, “Hot Country Knights,” giving listeners a taste of the album’s sound, theme, and vibe. The song begins with the band members chanting the letters that spell out ‘Hot Country Knights’ behind a modest drum beat which transitions to steel and electric guitar. Listeners can also hear a lot of fiddle and keys throughout the song, bringing back classic country instruments that popularized country music in the 90s and have slowly faded on mainstream, country radio. The band sings “Ain’t nothing cooler than these Hot Country Knights,” referencing themselves and the party under the moonlight they so descriptively paint. You can also see the humor this group provides in the bridge when they purposely don’t rhyme their lines. “Hey pretty baby, you’re an eleven. It must’ve hurt when you fell from the sky. Fold up them wings ‘cause tonight I’m going to teach you how to soar.” This track is followed by the lead single, “Pick Her Up,” featuring ‘90s country star, Travis Tritt. In this song, Tritt and band give step-by-step instructions on how to show your lady friend the night of her life. The music video features ’90 television star, Tiffani Thiessen of NBC’s Saved by the Bell.

Next is the first of a few ballads on the record, “Asphalt.” This clever and well-written track is about a man who cannot commit to a relationship. The reasons why can be interpreted in a few different ways. Maybe he just loves the open road, or maybe he can’t resist a woman’s behind. Who’s to say? The Knights got to perform this song live on Jimmy Kimmel on February 3rd.

The boys pay tribute to Tracy Byrd and his famous “Watermelon Crawl” with the next track called “Moose Knuckle Shuffle.” When the band’s truck breaks down in the small and fictional town of Moose Knuckle, Tennessee, some of the female residents teach them the new dance craze called the Moose Knuckle Shuffle. It goes like this:

“Then It Rained” is another song that could be construed with two different meanings. The band’s bassist, Trevor Travis provides the vocals on this tune, singing over a melancholy guitar strum. He describes good situations like hearing George Strait on the jukebox and finding change under the pillow cushion, which ultimately leads to “it raining.” A fun, honkytonk track called “Wrangler Danger” follows. Douglason sings about how a pretty woman in Wrangler jeans can get a man into a lot of trouble.

“The way she shakes them W’s, oughta be a honkytonk crime. WRANGLER. DANGER. My heart’s in danger but I can’t leave a Wrangler’s behind”

“Mull It Over” is a song about heartbreak and the band uses play on words and their luscious hairstyles in an attempt to try and win back their former lovers. “Don’t cut me off. I swear I’ll love you longer than the hair on my shoulders,” Douglason pleads. “Oh baby, maybe you should mull it over.”

“You Make It Hard,” a duet ballad featuring Canadian singer-songwriter, Terri Clark and the very patriotic “The USA Begins with Us” close out the album. In “You Make It Hard,” Douglason and Clark sing about how difficult it is to leave each other, both on their hearts and other parts of the body. There are a few funny and not-so-subtle lines throughout the song such as “With an ache in my heart and blood rushing to my head,” “Boy I hate to see you so blue” and “Every inch of me is so into you.” “The USA Begins with Us” is more of a political speech than a song. Deep inside Douglason’s long, rambling dialogue, he states that no matter your age, sex, race, political views, etc., we’re all Americans and to overcome any large obstacle, we need to come together as a nation.

The band consists of Douglason, Travis, guitarist Marty Ray (“Rayro”) Roburn, Russian-born keytar/fiddle player Terotej (“Terry”) Dvoraczekynski, steel guitarist Barry Van Ricky and percussionist Monte Montgomery. 2020 ACM Male Artist of the Year nominee, Dierks Bentley took the Knights under his wing and had a huge impact on the making of this record. He produced all ten songs and has co-writes on seven of them. Other writers include Jim and Brett Beavers, Jon Nite, Brett Tyler, Jon Randall, Chase McGill, and many others.

“When [Dierks] first moved to town, he was struggling, and he saw us crushing a big venue,” Douglason claimed, although he can’t recall which Hooters’ parking lot it was. “We inspired him, so he thinks he’s paying us back in some way by offering to produce us–but we all know what’s really going on here. He’s trying to grab onto the old mullet and ride it as hard as he can.”

The showmanship and the passion for ’90s country was always there for the Hot Country Knights, they just lacked direction and motivation. Whether they want to admit it or not, they needed Bentley, and with his help, the Knights are more than a novelty. They’re here, and they’re here to stay.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Artists Help Employees of Broadway Bars

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world. Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, people are trying to rebuild their homes, many Americans are losing their jobs, and we are all forced to stay in as we fight through this pandemic. Despite all this turmoil, beauty and kindness have remained.

We decided to flip the script and shine our spotlight, while we can, on some of the kindness that we have witnessed from others because Kindness Isn’t Canceled. To grab your exclusive shirt, click here.

Since Nashville’s Broadway, a famous strip of bars and restaurants that is visited by millions each year, is now closed, superstars Dierks Bentley and the men of Florida Georgia Line decided to use their resources to make a difference.

Both artists have their own bars in Nashville, Dierks’ Whiskey Row, and Hubbard and Kelley’s FGL House. Unfortunately, since many of the employees, including bartenders, waitresses, waiters, and management staff are being laid off or are temporarily out of work, due to the pandemic, people may be struggling to make ends meet.

To do what he can to help out his employees, Bentley gifted $1000 to each of his 90 employees, empathizing with those employees who work for tips. In full, the singer spent $90K to help out his staff. The men of FGL followed Bentley’s lead, vowing to gift $1000 to each of their 117 employees of FGL House. They shared their reasons for their contribution via Instagram.

Although this may just seem like a small feat, it reminds us all to help out where we can. It reminds us all to virtually check in on our friends, families, and even our co-workers. Stories like this remind us that kindness goes a long way!

Know somebody spreading incredible acts of kindness during these difficult times? E-mail us at: [email protected].

We look forward to continuing to keep bringing you more stories that remind us that Kindness Isn’t Canceled. Join us in our campaign, and buy yourself a t-shirt here. As always, we appreciate your support of  NYCountry Swag.

Hot Country Knights Finally Debut Their Original Song “Pick Her Up”

Hot Country Knights

The third or fourth best cover band in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, according to their YouTube page, the Hot Country Knights released their debut original song on Thursday titled “Pick Her Up” featuring Travis Tritt. The 90s-inspired, honky-tonk track was written and produced by Dierks Bentley along with Jim and Brett Beavers.

“The sound behind ‘Pick Her Up’ is Hot Country Knights 101…it’s so hot that I have advised the radio promotion department at UMG to wear oven mitts when delivering it to Country radio,” front-man Doug Douglason (who is actually Bentley) said in a recent press release.

The Hot Country Knights are really just the alter-egos of Bentley and his touring band. In a video both Bentley and the Knights shared on social media, Bentley ran into Douglason at his bar in Nashville. He recalled the time where Douglason gave him a pep talk before one of his first-ever shows. To return the favor, Bentley let the group perform a song for him. He was so impressed that he signed them to his record label to record some original material. The end of the video revealed that an album is being released in the spring of 2020. Watch it here:

“Without HCK, you would have never heard of Jerks Gentley,” the Hot Country Knights wrote in a tweet. “Now 20-some years later, he’s helping us get OUR shot…NOT THAT WE NEEDED HIS HELP…but if we did need some help (WHICH WE DON’T) it would involve a soon-to-be smash hit featuring Travis Tritt and an upcoming album.”

The joke began back in 2015 when Bentley and some friends, including Miranda Lambert, Kip Moore, Randy Houser, and Charles Kelley played a small club in Nashville pretending to be an old cover band performing a reunion show. They all wore wigs and 90s attire on stage. The band took a long hiatus but found their fame again when they joined Bentley on his Mountain High and Burning Man tours. Their act was more of a comedic bit as they covered country songs from the 1990s while making jokes and dancing around the stage. NYCountry Swag actually caught Hot Country Knights return back in February of 2018 when they performed during CRS.

Along with Douglason, the Hot Country Knights are comprised of bassist Trevor Travis, lead guitarist Marty Ray (“Rayro”) Roburn, keytar/fiddle player Terotej (“Terry”) Dvoraczekynski, steel guitarist Barry Van Ricky and percussionist Monte Montgomery.

“Pick Her Up” is available wherever buy or stream music and will impact Country radio on February 3rd.

To keep up with the Hot Country Knights, follow them on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Dierks Bentley and Friends Entertain Long Island Fans

With tailgate season in full swing, a crowd of country fans headed to Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater to watch headliner Dierks Bentley bring his ‘Burning Man Tour’ to the beach. For exclusive videos from the show, click here to head to our Instagram Story Highlights.

Before Hot Country Knights took to the stage, performing a parody of 90s country songs, VIP ticket holders were lucky enough to witness an acoustic set by Bentley himself in the VIP tent. The singer, supported by his band, sang bluegrass versions of some of his biggest songs, including “Woman, Amen”, “I Hold On,” and “Burning Man.” NYCountry Swag followers had the opportunity to win VIP access to the special performance on our Instagram giveaway contest. Congratulations to our winner, Catrina Cotrone!

The first true opener of the night was one of our Swag Spotlight alums, Tenille Townes. With her sassy attitude and killer vocals, the songstress spotlighted her fresh sound and honest lyrics on the big stage, proving why she’s one of our 2019 Artist to Watch. Kicking it off with her poignant love song, “White Horse” followed by “Where You Are,” Townes continued to win over new fans throughout her performance. She went on to sing “Jersey On the Wall,” which she added “This is one that’s very close to my heart,” and “Come As You Are,” but it was the end of her set that was her sweet spot. The singer-songwriter covered U2’s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” as the audience sang along to each and every word. Townes ended her incredible set with her debut single, “Somebody’s Daughter.” For more about Townes and her undeniable talent click here.

Country crooner, Jon Pardi took the stage next, as fans came in droves, packing out the venue. Pardi brought the energy throughout his hour-long set, opening with his song, “What I Can’t Put Down,” followed by “My Next Broken Heart,” a Brooks and Dunn classic, which he lent his voice to on the record REBOOT. He continued the momentum, singing songs like “Lucky Tonight,” “Ain’t Always The Cowboy,” “Me and Jack”, and “Heartache Medication.” The latter are both said to be songs off Pardi’s forthcoming studio album.

Fans went crazy throughout his whole set, but the crowd was extra loud when Pardi sang his most popular songs, “Heartache on the Dance Floor,” “Head Over Boots,” and “Dirt on My Boots.” The singer even admitted in his set that “The more [he] gets out of Nashville, the more hardcore country fans there are.” Pardi succeeded in bringing true blue country music to New York, and fans loved every minute of it.

Shortly after, the man of the night, Dierks Bentley took the stage. Bentley left it all out on stage, singing his most vulnerable songs, his party songs, and everything in between, all while remaining humble and endearing the whole time. His set began with “Burning Man,” and “Up on the Ridge” featuring images of mountains in the background, which added to the ambiance. The backdrop quickly changed, during Bentley’s epic performance of “Somewhere on a Beach,” which he added fit the venue perfectly. The recording artist continued to sing fan-favorite song including the romantic ode to women, “Woman, Amen,” the endearing, “Black,” and of course, “I Hold On.”

The entertainer shifted gears soon thereafter, singing his party anthem, “5-1-5-0” and of course, his newest single, “Living.” Check out an exclusive clip from the performance on our Instagram in the video above. Bentley also brought Pardi back out to sing one of Bentley’s favorite songs by Pardi called, “Missin’ You Crazy.” The pair really played off each other’s energy and it was evident by the vibes in the room that fans approved of the duet.

Townes also came back on stage to sing a mesmerizing rendition of “Different For Girls” with Bentley. The headliner sang his praises for Townes, adding that she’s “paving the way,” for women and comparing her talent to likes of Patty Loveless and Martina McBride. While on stage, Townes proved that she knows her 90s country, singing some of both “Strawberry Wine” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.”

Although we loved the duets, one of our favorite moments of the night was when Bentley sang his beautiful song “Riser.” Before performing the song, he shared his appreciation for law enforcement, firefighters, volunteers, the military, and those who serve us every day. Bentley added “I like to think these songs are for people that are no longer here, what they would say now. I feel like, they would say, don’t just go through life being a survivor, go through life being a riser, make the most of every day.” His statement and performance of “Riser” surely brought chills to each and every fan there.

Soon thereafter, Bentley kicked off the acoustic part of his set, as he made his way to the B-stage to sing some of his more vulnerable songs. Of course, in typical Bentley fashion, he made sure to shotgun a beer with a fan on stage first. The singer-songwriter went on to sing, “Come a Little Closer” and “Say You Do.”

Keeping fans entertained, Bentley made his way back to the main stage, singing an electrifying version of his song “What Was I Thinkin’” and brought DJ AyDamn on stage to sing “Sideways.” Of course, Bentley came back to the stage after the song to sing two songs for his encore. In true Bentley fashion, he came back to the stage dressed in a full-pilot getup to sing “Drunk on a Plane.” The superstar ended his set with “Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go),” the perfect song to end the exhilarating night of music on a high note.
