As Lacy Cavalier prepares to release her debut EP, K, I’m Done, later this spring, she’s revealing different sides of her personality with each new track. Today (3/22), the soulful songstress released “Blue Suede Couch,” the follow up to January’s “Andre.” On her newest offering, Cavalier shows off her formidable pipes and expressive tone through a mournful ballad that describes the way an inanimate object can play an unexpected role in one’s life. For Cavalier, her blue suede couch holds a ton of memories, both good and bad, and the song truly reveals a different perspective on the ebb and flow of a relationship.

“‘Blue Suede Couch’ articulates the role that my couch played in my 3-year roller coaster of a relationship. The couch saw it all from start to finish. It’s where we had those first crucial conversations when you know you’re falling in love with the person that’s sitting beside you. It’s where we’d plop down after coming home drunk at 2 am in a fight about something stupid. It’s where he’d sleep until it’s where we’d talk it out. It’s where he finally fessed up, broke my heart, and it ended. It’s where I sat and reflected, wrote this song, and healed. I’ve moved 3 times since he first sat on this couch, I still have it, heck I’m sitting on it right now. To be honest, I thought I would’ve been able to afford a new one by now! ;)” she said in a recent press release.

The Louisiana native is currently on tour with Morgan Wallen, with upcoming shows in Los Angeles (3/23), San Diego (3/27), Phoenix (3/28), Las Vegas (3/29), and Salt Lake City (3/30).

LANCO Release Brand New Tune Titled “Rival”

LANCO Rival

Just yesterday (3/21), the double platinum-selling country band, LANCO, released the first song off their highly anticipated sophomore album, entitled “Rival.” The track follows their number 1 single “Greatest Love Story,” and top 20 charted single “Born To Love You” off their debut platinum record Hallelujah Nights.

The song is a mid-tempo track that is sure to be an essential part of their future live performances. “Rival” is an anthem for standing your ground, staying true to yourself, and ignoring the haters. The unique sound, comprised of enticing and gritty vocals, as well as, quirky banjo and guitar instrumentals create a new, but pleasing track for LANCO.

Written by frontman, Brandon Lancaster and drummer, Tripp Howell in the back of the tour bus, the song should keep fans excited for new music from the band, as they cultivate a fresh sound. Lancaster explained in a recent press release about the writing process, sharing, “We wrote this song from the perspective of no matter where you come from, be proud of who you are and the way you’re creating your own path. And if anyone doesn’t like it, just chalk them up as a rival and keep doing your own thing.”

Howell went on to add, “We realized that everyone has faced something they have to stand up against. It isn’t about fitting into any mold, It’s about sticking up for what you believe in. […] I think that underdog mentality really drove us int he beginning.” Leave it to LANCO to give us inspiring lyrics with a catchy sound.

“Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh / I rumble / I roar/ I’m winning / I ain’t even keeping score / Oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh / It’s a movement, a revival / And if you ain’t with me, you’re the rival, rival.”

We will catch up with the boys of LANCO when they play Taste of Country Music Festival in June at Hunter Mountain in New York. For tickets and more information, head to lancomusic.com.

Abby Anderson Thanks the “GOOD LORD” in Latest Single

Abby Anderson Good Lord

One of our 2019 Swag Spotlight artists, Abby Anderson is giving something for fans to be excited about. After debuting her EP, I’m Good back in September, and recently released a cover of the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper song “Shallow” from A Star is Born, with fellow country singer-songwriter, Jimmie Allen, Anderson is back with another new jam entitled “GOOD LORD.”

Infused with both country and R&B elements, the track compliments her debut EP beautifully. The lyrics are a sassy ode of gratitude to the “good Lord” for creating a man she deems as perfect. The song portrays a more vulnerable side lyrically for Anderson, while still maintaining an upbeat and unique sound with heavy guitars and enticing instrumentals towards the end of the track.

“Give him all the credit / Thank Him every day / Yes I do believe in heaven, every time you say my name / I bet the good Lord / took his sweet time on your dark hair and your brown eyes”

Catch the songstress on the ‘Chip Tooth Smile Tour’ with Rob Thomas, kicking off in May. New Yorkers can catch the show in New York City on both July 29th and July 30th at the Beacon Theatre. Head to abbyandersonmusic.com for tickets and more information.

LOCASH Releases Title Track to Their Next Album “Brothers”

LOCASH Brothers

Just ahead of their next album release, which will be available next Friday, March 29th, LOCASH has released the title track as a teaser for all fans. “Brothers” is a mid-tempo song that is not only relatable but also, nostalgic.

Whether or not you share a bloodline, “Brothers” will hit home, for buddies who have grown up together, people who have become like family or even those who faced the military together, this song showcases the tried and true bond that is created.

Whatever bonds you together, those ties will never be broken. “At the end of the day, we are all brothers and sisters. We’ve all seen our share of sunshine and rain (I know Preston and I certainly have),” says LoCash’s Chris Lucas in a recent press release. “In order to get through it all, we all need to lean on each other. This album is all about recognizing that brotherhood and bringing people together.”

“You call me out when I’m trippin’ /  pour ’em strong when I’m sippin’ / If I holler at my boy, you’ll be there in a minute / yeah, you know I got your back, yeah we’ve been down like that, since we were bad boys with some fast toys on the backroads we ride / it’s the way it is, couple crazy kids until the day we die /  I’m like lightning, your like thunder / you get one you get the other, brothers”

The duo will head to NYC for album release week, be on the lookout for performance with NYCountry Swag on Wednesday, March 27th. The ACM Duo of the Year nominees are gearing up for a big summer, heading on the Raised On Country Tour with Chris Young, Chris Janson, Dylan Scott, and Jimmie Allen.

Carrie Underwood Shares Her Struggles With After-Baby-Bod

In a rare, emotional, and honest Instagram post earlier this week Carrie Underwood reminded us all of a valuable lesson: appreciating our bodies for what they can do, regardless of how they fall short, is the best gift we can give ourselves.

The country queen, who is just as famous for her killer legs as she is for her incredible pipes, is finding it hard to bounce back after baby number two. Since giving birth to son Jacob earlier this year, the singer shared that her body is not recovering the way it did after having first-born, Isaiah, now 4. “I just want to feel like myself again…for my body to feel the way that I know it can”.

Carrie’s problem is not unique. In fact, there’s not a woman among us, mother or not, who hasn’t held their bodies to impeccable standards. But being in the public spotlight is another thing entirely, and instead of hiding from her fans, Underwood has chosen to redirect her energy to being there for her sons and to celebrate her body that was, “a perfect home for Jacob” for the past 11 months.

This isn’t the first time Carrie has been forced to open up in the last year. The singer gained media attention in November of 2017 when a fall outside her home landed her with a broken wrist and more than 50 stitches to the face, and again last September, when following the release of her sixth studio album, Cry Pretty, she shared that she had suffered not one, but three miscarriages with husband, Mike Fisher.

Underwood’s health-focused lifestyle has been front and center throughout her career. From sharing her personal choice not to eat meat (she’s actually a vegan), to launching and promoting successful health and fitness brand, Calia, the songstress is a perfect example of practice what you preach. With the pressure that comes with being an icon and the recent trauma she’s experienced, it’s no wonder she’s having a hard time getting back in stride.

Her post ends with a personal mantra we can all learn from. “I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal…I’m going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body”.

Underwood will no doubt get back in shape later this year when she is rocking stages on the Cry Pretty Tour 360. New Yorkers can catch the tour featuring Maddie and Tae as well as Swag Session alums Runaway June when it hits Madison Square Garden on October 2nd. Until then, she and the rest of us will keep working towards our goals, appreciating our bodies, and trying to cut ourselves some slack.

Thanks for the reminder, Carrie, and just for the record, you still look amazing!

Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen and More Perform for Guys With Guitars

Guys With Guitars: My Country 96.1’s 8th Birthday Bash at Stereo Garden in Patchogue ended up with many unexpected surprises including a special female performing alongside the guys. The lineup this year featured Dylan Scott, Jimmie Allen, Tyler Rich, Riley Green, and Filmore who all took turns performing their biggest hits to date and telling stories behind each of the songs.

Guys with Guitars

Filmore kicked it off with his tracks ‘Country Song,” “Love That About You,” “Slower” and a hidden gem “Leave Our Mark” requested by the audience. Riley Green played the two songs he recently released, “Bettin’ Man” and his upcoming single “In Love By Now.” He also sang his unreleased track “Get That Man A Beer” and his radio smash hit “There Was This Girl,” which is currently #3 on both Billboard and Mediabase charts.

Next, Rich introduced his potential upcoming single “Leave Her Wild” by saying “Has anyone had a controlling ex?” The lyrics are “If you’re going to make her do something, make her smile; If you’re going let her dance, let her sing, let her be whoever she wants to be; leave her wild.” He explained the song is about “happy wife, happy life” and loving a girl for just the way she is.

Guys With Guitars

In the next round, Dylan Scott and Jimmie Allen played their biggest songs and even brought out a special guest. Allen started out the night by playing the first song on his album Mercury Lane “American Heartbreaker” to get the crowd started. Scott opened up with his catchy, smash hit “Hooked” and the crowd was screaming the lyrics. He was very interactive with the crowd, even roses were being thrown up on stage to his band.

Guys with Guitars

The singer-songwriter told stories behind his songs especially about his high school sweetheart turned wife and how they’re expecting their second child. Allen brought out his surprise guest, Abby Anderson to sing their collab on the resonating “Shallow” duet by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Anderson also sang her sassy, southern new single coming out tomorrow called “Good Lord.”  From the crowd’s participation and enthusiasm, it’s safe to say country music is a fan favorite on Long Island.

Steve Moakler Releases Nostalgic “Slow Down” Music Video

Rising country music singer-songwriter from Pittsburgh, Steve Moakler, had quite an exciting 2018 with the release of his brand-new album, Born Ready, as well as embarking on two national tours. While on tour, Moakler and his wife received some big and exciting news. They were going to be parents for the first time. This new chapter in his life inspired the track “Slow Down” off his fifth album.

In an interview with Cowboys and Indians, Moakler said: “This album was inspired by the road, not just the road that I’ve been on playing music, but the road that we’re all on, trying to close the distance between where we are and where we want to be.” The 12-track album explores a different side of Moakler and adds the perfect amount of rock ‘n’ roll to his traditional country vibe.

Moakler’s new album is full of great songs, but one of the album’s highlights is the stripped-down, guitar-driven jam “Slow Down.” A recent press release said: “The personal meaning behind the track, “Slow Down” off his full-length album, Born Ready, has come full circle — as he embarked on his two national tours, he and his wife found out shortly after they were expecting their firstborn in the middle of touring.”

Before Moakler released the official music video for the song, he released a short behind-the-scenes video where he explains the inspiration behind the song: how success and time on the road led to a loss of a sense of home till he met his wife, Gracie, and how he lives with the tension of being torn between who he loves and what he loves. We interviewed his wife Gracie as our very first Woman of the Month, read more about her here.

Moakler officially released the touching music video for “Slow Down”, that includes his wife, Gracie and their son, Jackson. The video gives a nostalgic feeling as it’s filmed in a home-video style. It shows memories of being on the road and never before seen footage of his new family.

Jordan Davis Performs “Take It From Me” on Good Morning America

Here at NY Country Swag, we are always proud to see one of our NYCountry Swag’s 2018 Artists to Watch make another huge step in his or her career, and this morning was no different. After scoring yet another #1 song, Jordan Davis set off to New York City to make his Good Morning America debut.

While some people consider signing a record deal, scoring a number one song, or playing the Opry stage making it in the industry, for Davis’s grandma, its playing GMA. Even though he’s scored two No. 1 songs and scored several awards nominations this is the big step in her eyes. Davis said in a recent press release “To be honest with ya, in the eyes of my grandmother, I’ve officially made it. In her eyes, I’m on GMA, I might as well be in the Musicians Hall of Fame over here, you know?”

Kicking off his debut, he was introduced to the audience by host Ginger Zee, “Rising country star Jordan Davis. He was named Billboard’s Top New Country Artist of 2018 and here he is with his number one hit off the album Home State this is “Take It From Me.” Surrounded by blues, purples, and pinks, the lighting set the mood and upbeat feel of the song. The “Take It From Me” singer killed the performance with his raw vocals and guitar licks. Add flashing lights as a backdrop and Davis swaying back and forth and you get one phenomenal Good Morning America debut.

Davis is currently up for New Male Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards and after hitting it big at the iHeart Awards recently, he has a great shot at scoring another. He is currently on the road with Old Dominion as part of the Make It Sweet Tour with a few more upcoming stops before joining Rascal Flatts in July for the Summer Playlist Tour.

To keep up with Jordan Davis follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
