A Country Song For Every Phase Of Your Life

Country Song Phase in Your Life

Some of the best songs out there are the songs that make you feel something. Those songs that make you feel nostalgic, feel excited about the future or tell us what we need to hear. There truly is a country song for every phase of our lives. Country superstar Maren Morris embodied those notions in one of the deep cuts off her sophomore record, GIRL, entitled “A Song For Everything.” Inspired by Morris’ powerful track, we decided to compile a list of a country music song that can be the soundtrack for every phase of your life because “there’s a [country] song for everything.”

Graduating High School: “My Wish”- Rascal Flatts

High school is one of the times in our lives, where we face all sorts of challenges, as we make strides to figuring out who we really are and who we want to become. Graduation is often a bittersweet moment. This song gives us the words that we want to say to ourselves as a pep talk, to our friends, and that others hope for us.

My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to / Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small / You never need to carry more than you can hold / And while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to / I Hope you know somebody loves you and wants the same things too / Yeah, this, is my wish.”

Moving Out & Leaving Home: “Wide Open Spaces”- Dixie Chicks

At some point in our lives, often after graduation, we tend to leave our childhood homes behind and step out of our comfort zones towards independence. The Dixie Chicks gives us the perfect uplifting song to listen to as we grow into the person we’ve always wanted to become.

“She needs wide open spaces / Room to make her big mistakes / She needs new faces / She knows the high stakes.”

Falling In Love For The First Time: “Yours”- Russell Dickerson

Of course there are tons of country songs to choose from that embody how we feel when we fall in love for the first time; however, Russell Dickerson wrote and recorded one of the most heartfelt love songs released in the last few years. It is the perfect backdrop to feeling like you are on cloud 9 with your significant other.

I came to life when I first kissed you / The best me has his arms around you / You make me better than I was before / Thank God I’m Yours.”

Going Through A Breakup: “You Get Used to Somebody”- Tim McGraw

Regardless of the circumstances, going through a break-up is difficult. Tim McGraw puts words to all the mixed feelings. Even if we are relieved the relationship is over, it’s still weird, and it takes time and a lot of getting used to. “I guess you get used to somebody / Kind of like havin’ them around / I guess you get used to the way they make you happy / Bring you up when you’re feeling down / I never dreamed when I was letting you go / That I would wake up and miss you this much / I guess you get used to somebody / I guess you get used to bein’ loved.”

Getting Married: “She’s Everything”- Brad Paisley

On the contrary, getting married and meeting our forever soul-mate is a happy time in our lives. Many country artists have given us the perfect song to commemorate the special day; however Brad Paisley gives us a song that reminds us of the reason we’ve chosen who we’ve chosen because ultimately our spouse is the person we never knew we always wanted and needed.

“She’s a fighter when she’s mad / And she’s a lover when she’s loving / And she’s everything I ever wanted / And everything I need / I talk about her / I go on and on, an on / ‘Cause she’s everything to me.”

Becoming A Parent:The Best Part of Me”- Lee Brice

Although this song is intended to be a love song, it’s the perfect love letter to your children, when you become a mom or a dad. Lee Brice sings the purest lyrics to describe an indescribable time in a person’s life.

“Though my head’s been known to give me hell / This heart of mine is just something else, yeah / But the best part of, part of me is you / Is, is you / Yeah the best part of me, part of me is you / Is you.”

Dealing With Loss: “Drink a Beer”- Luke Bryan

Losing someone you love is a difficult, but inevitable part of life. Thankfully there are songs penned by country artists to help us cope with the pain and grief. Luke Bryan doesn’t try to diminish how it feels to lose someone. He just simply tells his own truth.

“Can’t believe you’re really gone / Don’t feel like going home / So I’m gonna sit right here / On the edge of this pier / Watch the sunset disappear / And drink a beer”

Right Now: “Here’s To The Good Times”- Florida Georgia Line

Regardless of what stage of life you are currently in or what you want for your own future, the best time in your life to celebrate is right now. We all have a lot to be thankful for, to look forward to and to celebrate, and this Florida Georgia Line song is the perfect soundtrack to keep us pumped on our journey.

“Drop down the top down on the Pontiac / Where ever you wind up is where the party’s at / Break out the bottle of Bacardi black / And don’t look back ‘cause / Here’s to the good times, here’s to the sunshine.”
