Russell Dickerson’s “Love You Like I Used To” Earns Him His 4th Number 1

Russell Dickerson’s “Love You Like I Used To” earns him his fourth consecutive career #1 hit as a recording artist, landing the top spot on the country charts this week.

One of our all-time favorite artists, future entertainer of the year, and our actual “day one”, Russell Dickerson, continues to shatter the glass ceiling in his career. Last year, almost to the day, we announced that Dickerson accomplished a rare feat, as his first three singles to country radio all hit the top spot on the charts. Today, we get to share with fans that the singer-songwriter’s fourth song to country radio, “Love You Like I Used To” is officially a chart-topper!

“Love You Like I Used To” embodies arguably what Dickerson does best. The romantic love song is as honest as it gets and truly makes all listeners feel that one of a kind love that the singer has with his beautiful wife. The song going number one is a testament to Dickerson and his team for knowing exactly who their fanbase and audience are. Both country radio and fans truly support everything the singer does.

This great news comes at an almost perfect time for the singer. His sophomore record, Southern Symphony is slated to be released on December 4th, and we are sure that Dickerson is going to deliver even more music that both fans and country radio alike will fall in love with. Congrats to Russell and the entire RD Team!

Matt Stell’s “Everywhere But On” Earns Him Second #1

Matt Stell’s “Everywhere But On” earns him his second career number one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

In 2019, rising artist, Matt Stell’s debut single “Prayed For You” was the only debut artist single to reach the top of the country charts. The single held the coveted spot for two consecutive weeks and became an unofficial anthem for weddings across the globe. Now the singer has another #1 single to add to his catalog. His second song to country radio, “Everywhere But On” officially earned him another number one hit.

The title track for Stell’s debut EP, Everywhere But On tells the story of a man avoiding the memories of an ex by moving around. The protagonist is doing anything in his power to avoid the feelings of heartache. Appealing to the masses, the single clearly tugged the heartstrings of country music lovers across the nation.

“I’ve been from Savannah to Long Beach / Trying to keep your memory out of reach / But there you were in the Delta nights, the Santa Fe Sun, the Colorado sky / I could add another pushpin to the map / But that don’t stop me from missing you or looking back / Guess there’s just one place I haven’t gone / I’ve moved everywhere, but on”

We got a little preview of the track when the singer played the song as a part of one of our Swag Sessions, which you can watch below. Recently, Stell released his second EP, Better Than That. Ultimately, in his short career, Stell has proven that he is a hitmaker and that fans value his honesty and sentiments. We look forward to seeing what he does next!

Jameson Rodgers’ “Some Girls” Earns Him First Career Number One

Jameson Rodgers’ “Some Girls” earns him very first career number one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

For about a decade, Jameson Rodgers has been grinding it out in the Nashville scene, cultivating a unique fanbase. Finally given his shot, Rodgers was signed by Columbia Nashville and released his debut song “Some Girls” to country radio. The song, written by CJ Solar, Jake Mitchell, and HARDY, has been steadily moving up the charts, hovering in the top ten for weeks, but now “Some Girls” is officially a number one hit.

“Sometimes it’s a clean break, stay gone / Clean slate, moving on to something new / Sometimes, some girls make it easy on you / But some girls never do”

We named Rodgers one of our 2020 Artists to Watch earlier this year, and despite this crazy year we are having, this proved to be an important one for the songwriter-turned-singer/songwriter both personally and professionally. He released more music to fans and on a personal level, got engaged to his longtime girlfriend Sarah Allison Turner.

We are sure that the addition of “Some Girls” being a chart-topper will only add to Rodgers’ excitement! The song itself is a modern-twist on getting through a break-up. It is a great introduction in to the rising artist’s writing style and crisp vocals. We are excited to see how Rodgers’ career continues to blossom. Congratulations on your very first number one!

Jason Aldean’s “Got What I Got” Tops Charts and Earns Him 24th Career #1

Jason Aldean’s “Got What I Got” earns him his 24th career number one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

For fifteen years, superstar Jason Aldean has been a staple in country music. Throughout the years, Aldean has scored 23 number one singles, including hits like “Why,” “She’s Country,” and “You Make It Easy” in his career so far up until today. Today marks the moment Aldean’s single “Got What I Got” off his latest record 9 goes number one, solidifying its spot as his 24th hit song!

“When I got what I got, I don’t miss what I had / The old me before you belongs to the past / In the back of your mind, you might think there’s somethin’ more I want / But when I got what I got, girl, I don’t”

“Got What I Got” is the singer’s only radio single of 2020 so far, and boy is it a special one. The deeply personal song is all about being appreciative for what you have and the life you built with your family. The music video features Aldean’s children with his wife Brittany and sweet family-filmed moments with his entire family. Brittany even videoed some of the clips for her husband. Fans seem to relate deeply to Aldean’s more vulnerable side in his music!

We cannot wait to see if “Got What I Got” gets a second week at the top of the charts or if some of the rising artists like Jameson Rodgers, Matt Stell, or Russell Dickerson make it to the top spot next. Check back next week to see who takes it.

Tim McGraw’s “I Called Mama” Claims Top Spot and Earns Him 44th Career #1

Tim McGraw’s “I Called Mama” earns him his 44th career number one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

For decades, McGraw has graced our radio airwaves, giving us the tunes that have become the soundtrack to our lives. In fact, along with this marks the fourth straight decade for McGraw on scoring No. 1 singles, to match his four-decade streak on No. 1 albums he accomplished earlier this year with his 16th studio album, HERE ON EARTH. The album serves as his first solo release in five years marking his return to Big Machine Records.

“I Called Mama” is the lead single from the record and is a message to everyone to remember the people that make our world a little brighter even during the darker times. The beautiful track is truly impactful during these unprecedented times we have been living in over the last several months through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Grabbed my guitar from the back seat / Wrote a song just for me / And I sung it for the blue sky / And a couple live oak trees / I thought of home, grabbed my phone from my pocket / And I called mama”

Written by Lance Miller, Mary Green, and Jimmy Yeary, the single is literally a reminder to call your mom, but the deeper message is to seek comfort in those who comfort you and welcome you with open arms, despite your flaws.

As the song tops the charts, McGraw continues to impress and proves that his music still resonates well with modern-day country music fans. “I Called Mama” is McGraw’s first number-one single since the iconic “Humble and Kind” debuted in 2016, but of course the singer has had many charted songs in between. We cannot wait to see which song is a hit with country music lovers next.

Lee Brice’s “One Of Them Girls” Earns Him Third Consecutive Number One

Lee Brice’s “One Of Them Girls” earns him his third consecutive number-one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

Brice has given us incredible music for over a decade. Even so, in our opinion, he is one of the more underrated singer-songwriters in the genre. Despite that notion, Brice has found more mainstream success in the last couple of years. Today, his song “One Of Them Girls” found its way to the top of the charts, marking his third consecutive number-one single after “Rumor,” and his duet with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”

Brice released “One Of Them Girls” back in April, as the perfect prologue to “Rumor.” The now number one single is all about your thoughts before you meet your potential lover. True to Brice as a person, the song is honest, innovative, and imaginative. Written by the singer with incredible song-writers, Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Johnson, it was just a matter of time before this incredible tune got the accolades it deserves.

Lee Brice One Of Them Girls

“And you’re one of them girls that / An’t tryna meet nobody / You’re just there for the party / If I’m wrong then stop me, yeah / You’re one of them girls that / Ain’t handin’ out your number / You like to make us want you, you like to to make us wonder”

This good news comes on the heels of Brice’s latest album announcement Hey World, which will drop on November 20th. We believe that there will be more hits on the horizon for the incredible musician. Brice is confident that this will be his most successful album. In a recent press release, he shares “I am overjoyed to say that I think I have made my best project to date. I stand by everything I have ever done, but pull from it as well to help me exceed my own expectations. Because of my team, my co-producers, my engineers, my label, I was able to make what I hope will be my most successful album to date.” Of course, his last two hits will be featured on the upcoming fifteen track project.
