Mitchell Tenpenny Makes History with Number One “Truth About You”

Mitchell Tenpenny hits the number one spot on the country radio chart this week with his current single, “Truth About You.” Learn more here…

In what feels like perfect timing, Mitchell Tenpenny has secured his third number one single at country radio. Just three weeks after achieving his second number one song with fellow collaborator, Chris Young, Tenpenny has made history with the shortest span between #1 songs in the modern chart era. Fans are also anticipating his next studio project, This Is The Heavy, due out this Friday, September 16th. For now, let’s celebrate “Truth About You” as the top song on the charts!

Back when the singer-songwriter teased the radio single, we knew it would be a popular song with fans. “Truth About You” is a break-up song all about standing in your truth after the rumor mill runs a muck. It features all the Tenpenny vibes that we have grown to love from the entertainer.

“Yeah, there’s two sides to every breakup // One’s a lie and one’s the truth // One of ’em went down and one was made up // But in the end we both lose // Why can’t we meet in the middle // Call it even, call a truce // If you quit telling lies about me // I won’t tell the truth about you”

Tenpenny thanked his fans in a recent press release, “I’m so thankful to everyone, including the fans, who believed this song was special and helped bring it to the top of the charts.” A huge congratulations goes out to Mitchell Tenpenny and his team on landing their third number one single!

Mitchell Tenpenny Shares “Good And Gone” off Next Album

Mitchell Tenpenny’s new song, “Good And Gone,” is out now, August 26th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

As we anticipate his sophomore album, This Is The Heavy,  due out September 16th, Mitchell Tenpenny is giving fans a sprinkle of what is to come. The talented singer-songwriter has garnered a loyal fanbase, who continuously beg him to release music. Today, Tenpenny is sharing another taste of the upcoming, 20-song record with his brand new track, “Good And Gone.”

The new single is deliciously Tenpenny. Melodically, the song is in the same category as songs like “Bucket List” and “Somebody Ain’t You.” Sonically, the song is as M10 as it gets. All about how we deal after an unexpected break-up, the new song is all too relatable.

“You cry wolf like it’s a full moon every fight // Grab your keys, say you’re leaving // Crank your car but you never leave the drive // This time I think you mean it // Ain’t even a teardrop on the floor // Ain’t even a single pissed off text // Left the key I made you in the door”

“Good And Gone” is a song that is an obvious earworm. It easily will get stuck in your head. We would not be surprised if the song finds its way to country radio in the future.

Chris Young & Mitchell Tenpenny Go Number One with “At the End of a Bar”

Chris Young and Mitchell Tenpenny hit the number one spot on the country radio charts this week with their song, “At the End of a Bar.” Learn more here…

One of our favorite collaborations to come out of country music recently is “At the End of a Bar” by co-collaborators, Chris Young and Mitchell Tenpenny. It seems country music fans agree! The single is officially the number one song at country radio.

Both Young and Tenpenny have incredible vocals. They both add a touch of soul to their country-pop sounds, which is evident on “At the End of a Bar.” The number one single is one of those songs that is both infectious and alluring, two qualities we love in country songs. Their unexpected collaboration is one of the many reasons that this song has found its way to the top of the country charts.

“There’s a million things that you can find // Bartender conversation or a pair of blue eyes, yeah // Your true love or next broken heart // Maybe a party crowd on a Friday night // Long necks, long lines and neon signs, hell // Sometimes that’s where it all starts // At the end of a bar”

A huge congratulations goes out to both Chris Young and Mitchell Tenpenny’s respected teams. This major feat marks the eleventh number one song for Young and the second number one song for Tenpenny.

Mitchell Tenpenny: ‘The Low Light Sessions’ – EP Review

Mitchell Tenpenny’s The Low Light Sessions EP features eight new tracks that take listeners on a journey from where he was to where he is now. Listen to the new music and check out our full review here.

For Mitchell Tenpenny, The Low Light Sessions EP, out today, April 15, marks a special release. Featuring eight new tracks, all co-written by the dynamic singer-songwriter, the collection includes songs he’s held on to for years. For listeners, the music will take you on a journey from where Tenpenny was when he wrote the opening track to where he is now.

“My fans are so good to me and react quickly each time I put out new music,” shared Tenpenny in a statement. “I’ve held onto these songs as I didn’t want them to get overshadowed in some of the other recent projects. I wanted to wait until I was in a good place with my life, and I feel I’m strong enough to share them now. I was a different person then and it feels good to look back and know I’ve come through that dark time.”

The project opens with the previously-released “Horseshoes and Hand Grenades,” a clever take on the old adage of being oh-so-close to something. Here, the Nashville native is so close to love, but not quite there.

“I guess we were just as close as a first kiss // Closer to God when you’re down on your knees and praying // Yeah, close like a secret, you swore you would keep // But somehow you let it slip away // So close you can feel, it hurts when it’s real // ‘Cause the other don’t feel the same // Guess close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades”

Songs like “Dear Jesus” and “Mama Raised the Hell Out of Me” show Tenpenny contemplative and exploring his spiritual side, fighting not to “let the devil win the war.” On “Mama Raised the Hell Out of Me,” Tenpenny admits that he’s struggled with his own demons, but that it’s his mama to thank for the way he turned out. “There’s a lot of whiskey bottles and skeletons, I broke more hearts than the strings on my guitar,” He admits. “The devil only knows, the sinner I would be, but mama raised the hell out of me.”

For Tenpenny, much of the Low Light Sessions finds the introspective singer-songwriter grappling with failed and potential relationships. On “Don’t Make Me Choose,” he admits that he’s a walking contradiction, loving both life on the road and being home with his someone special. “We both got something the other one needs,” He concedes as he explores the woman that’s the yin to his yang, the saint to his sinner. He also worries that he’ll be forced to choose between love and his career, pleading “Don’t make me choose.”

“My Next Sad Song” finds him reflecting on a woman that was sure to break his heart, while “I Can’t Get Another You” is a soulful ballad that finds him contemplating lost love. He may be able to replace a lot of things in his life, but the one that got away is irreplaceable.

“I Know Something She Don’t Know” is one of the collection’s highlights, a mid-tempo track that builds in the best way as Tenpenny prepares to end a relationship. Here, he enjoys one more special night, knowing that it’s all ending in the morning. The track offers a different perspective on the classic breakup song, twinged with a bittersweet mood as he prepares to be the one breaking a heart. “I ain’t saying we ain’t right,” he croons. “But we ain’t right, right now.”

Despite all the heartbreak Tenpenny endured, the EP concludes with romance. “The Way You Are,” penned solely by Tenpenny is something special. With only a sparse musical accompaniment, Tenpenny’s R&B-hinted tone has never sounded better than on this romantic ballad. “Good Morning sunshine, how did you sleep?” He sings to the woman in his arms. “Was your dream as good as mine // I guess I’m still in the middle of it.”

Since the release of “Drunk Me,” Mitchell Tenpenny has been one of country music’s most consistent hit makers. However, The Low Light Sessions is truly a special release, sharing more of the singer-songwriter’s heart. While radio hits are very likely here, the EP also serves to further share Tenpenny’s story and his depth as a songwriter.

The Low Light Sessions EP Tracklist:

  1. Horseshoes and Hand Grenades (Mitchell Tenpenny, Dallas Wilson)
  2. Dear Jesus (Mitchell Tenpenny, Andy Albert, Thomas Archer)
  3. Mama Raised the Hell Out of Me (Mitchell Tenpenny, Jaren Johnston, Zach Kale)

Carrie Underwood Surprises with New Album Details + Drops Title Track

Carrie Underwood’s next album, ‘Diamonds & Rhinestones’ is due out June 10th. Underwood surprised fans today with the release of the title track along with the full song list for the project. Learn more below.

Superstar Carrie Underwood splashed back onto the scene last month, releasing “Ghost Story”, her first country solo track in over three years and the leading single from an upcoming mystery album.

Although the details for a highly anticipated new project weren’t initially revealed, today, the wait is finally over! ‘Denim & Rhinestones’, the 8x GRAMMY winner’s seventh country record and ninth overall, including two Christian projects, ‘My Gift’ (2020) and ‘My Savior’ (2021) will be available June 10th. According to Underwood, the collection of new music is a “sing into your hairbrush in your room” kind of album.

“I really just wanted to make an album that just felt like fun,” the American Idol alum, entrepreneur, and mother of two said in a trailer for the project. “I feel like this one ended up being a bigger reflection of me as a person as an artist. We have a lot of songs that could be considered throwback songs, but they sound super fresh. These are influences that are in me and work their way out and I just decided this time not to get in their way.”

The title track from the record is a perfect example of the fun, fresh, yet classic vibe Underwood teased. “Denim & Rhinestones” includes an electronic intro and dance beat reminiscent of the 80s, with modern rhythms and a new take on the concept of two people fitting perfectly together.

“Like the quarter and a jukebox slot // Like the key that turns a lock // Some things don’t get any better // Than when they go together, denim and rhinestones // You’re the smooth and I’m the shine // We’re the neon dancing all night // Denim and rhinestones”

With an early June release, the record is perfectly positioned to be the soundtrack of the summer and we are here for it! “Ghost Story” and “Denim & Rhinestones” are available now wherever you stream music, and ‘Denim & Rhinestones’ the album arrives everywhere June 10th. Carrie Underwood’s New Song “Ghost Story” is HERE

Carrie Underwood’s new song, “Ghost Story” is out now, March 18th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.

A new Carrie Underwood era has arrived! Today, March 18, Underwood released ‘Ghost Story’, the first single from a highly anticipated new album (title still unknown) and it was worth the wait. Though the country superstar has released multiple projects in the past few years including two Christian albums, My Gift and My Savior, and multiple duets with DAN + SHAY, NEEDTOBREATHE, Jason Aldean, and Latin pop star David Bisbal, “Ghost Story” is the first new solo country track since Underwood released her 6th studio album, Cry Pretty back in September of 2018.

The writers behind “Ghost Story”, David Garcia, Hillary Lindsey, and Josh Kear, are all credited with multiple smash hits in Underwood’s impressive discography, and this track is bound to be no different. Produced by GRAMMY-winning producer David Garcia and Underwood herself, “Ghost Story” is a break up anthem about haunting a lost lover. With its catchy chorus, descriptive imagery, and unique rhythms unlike anything the American Idol alum, mom of two, and entrepreneur has done before, the song showcases what Underwood does best; using her incomparable vocal range to tell a story. The track is dynamic and engaging from beginning to end, and the driving drum beat keeps the energy up even in the softer sections of the song.

Carrie Underwood’s new song, “Ghost Story” is available now, March 18th on all streaming platforms

“You’ll hear a noise, swear you know the voice // And you’ll chase it down the stairs // You’ll look around, not a single sound // ‘Cause there’s no one even there // I’m gonna be your ghost story // That keeping you up all night memory // I’ll be haunting you, you’ll be wanting me // I’m gonna be your ghost story”

Playing new songs live for fans is always a highlight for artists on the road, and Underwood could get that chance as soon as next week when she returns to Las Vegas to resume her REFLECTION residency at Resorts World. With residency performances scheduled through the end of May and a new album on the way, Underwood will have plenty of opportunities to play around with visual and performance elements to make “Ghost Story” a tour favorite.

Mitchell Tenpenny: ‘Naughty List’ – Album Review

Mitchell Tenpenny’s full-length Christmas Album, Naughty List is available now, October 29th on all streaming platforms. Check out our full review and listen to the brand new music below.

It may be Halloween weekend, but Mitchell Tenpenny has us dreaming about Christmas with his full-length holiday album, Naughty List. The 11-track project is filled with holiday classics and original songs. It is the perfect album to curl up by the fireplace with your loved ones and enjoy the season.

While seven of the tracks were featured on the singer-songwriter’s 2020 EP Neon Christmas, Tenpenny is sharing his spin on two more covers as well as two originals.

We learned with Neon Christmas that Tenpenny can make the classics such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and “Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!”,  feel brand new.  There was no doubt that he would deliver again.  Putting his one-of-a-kind vocals together with an electric guitar, you will be up and dancing in no time when listening to “Jingle Bell Rock”.  You’ll continue to be on your feet with “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”. Filled with an epic guitar solo, an appearance from Santa and standout vocals from Tenpenny, it shows the Nashville native’s originality.

“I Hope it Snows” featuring Meghan Patrick is one of the best original Christmas songs we’ve heard. It tells the story of bringing your significant home for the first time to meet your family and take part in the season’s traditions. The ballad starts out with Patrick bringing in M10 during the second verse and chorus. Their vocals blend perfectly creating an instant classic.

“I hope it snows on Christmas Eve // Like a winter wonderland in my parents backyard // And I hope you know how much it means to have you in the picture of our postcard // Holidays in the South is all you know // So we’re headed up North and I hope it snows”

“Don’t Hang the Mistletoe” is the second new original. It’s a fun love track that will have you hanging up mistletoe as soon as possible. But be warned you may never leave the house due to the amount of kissing you’ll be doing. With his country charm with a bit of R&B flare, Tenpenny shows his many vocal ranges.

Overall, Naughty List shows how great of an artist Tenpenny is. We will certainly have the album on repeat all season long!

Naughty List Tracklist:

  1. “Neon Christmas” (Mitchell Tenpenny/Lindsay Rimes/Matt Rogers)
  2. “Snow Angels” (Mitchell Tenpenny/Ernest Keith Smith/Rafe Tenpenny)

  4. “Naughty List” (Mitchell Tenpenny/Andy Albert/Jordan Schmidt)
