Fans have been loving the new song and begging for its release, and now it is finally here!

Written by Josh Thompson, Morgan Wallen, Rodney Clawson, and Will Bundy, and produced by Urban and Dan Huff, “Brown Eyes Baby” is a story of a girl who’s pushing through a tough break-up by trying to get back to her old self with a little help from someone new.

“I can put the smile right back where your smile goes // Dreams back in what you see with your eyes close // I’ll be the buzz that you feel when you sip slow // slow dance right back in your dirt road // I can put the sun right back in your sunshine // bring a little love back into your late night // Ain’t gotta be more than one more drink and maybe // I can take the blue out of your brown eyes baby”

Who Is Robyn Ottolini? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Robyn Ottolini? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

robyn-ottolini

Quick Facts:

Full Name – Robyn Ottolini

Birthday – July 31st, 1995

Hometown – Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada

Musical influences – Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Taylor Swift

Favorite song right now – “I Don’t Go Back” – Kassi Ashton

The Beginning:

Today we are introducing you to a new country artist that is sure to blow up. Robyn Ottolini is a songstress from Canada, who recently signed with Warner Music Nashville. Her voice and songwriting talent rival any artist in country music today. Keep reading to learn her story.

“I grew up in a small town just north of Toronto in Canada,” began Ottolini. “I loved music since I was a kid, but I didn’t come from a musical family. It was just me who loved to sing and play guitar and do all that stuff.”

The songstress always gravitated towards music and often used music to express herself. At the early age of thirteen, Ottolini started writing and crafting songs in her bedroom, drawing inspiration from artists like Taylor Swift and later, Kacey Musgraves and Maren Morris.

“I started writing songs at 13 and picked up a guitar at 14 and just kept playing. I kept going and [eventually started] playing small shows in my town,” continued the singer.

Still, despite a clear love and knack for music, Ottolini did not envision a path where she could make it in the industry. “The thought of having a record deal only happens to certain people, and I wasn’t one of them.”

The Turning Point:

When the pandemic hit, Ottolini’s focus shifted. “I was doing music independently, trying to work social media, and doing my day job,” shared the singer, adding, “Then the pandemic hit, and I just started really honing in on social media because that was the only way to connect with people at the time.”

While using social media to spread her music, her song “F-150″ went viral. “I put F-150 out in February and then the pandemic hit, and from there on out I was posting it on social media, trying to make trends happen, and soon enough it picked up,” shared the singer-songwriter.

As fate would have it, industry executives in Nashville started to notice Ottolini’s talent through her online presence. “Eventually, people in Nashville heard of me and they were wondering who I was,” shared the singer. “I kept going and going, and eventually I got signed with Warner Music Nashville.”

Today:

Now a Nashville resident and a signed artist, Ottolini is eager to share more music with her growing fanbase. Most recently, the songstress dropped her killer song, “Say It.” The single has already resonated with fans across the genre. We happen to love it too.

“Back when I was dating the F-150 guy, I felt like I really had to beg for a compliment,” shared Ottolini, when asked about the inspiration for the new song. “It was one of those things, where I was like ‘do I like me? do I think I’m pretty?’ You have to go through this journey about what do I wish I would have heard that could have made me a better, more independent person, that I could of gave myself.”

Ottolini further encourages others to “Give yourself the power. Tell yourself how cool you are and get the heck on with ruling the world.”

While you are doing that, make sure you remember Ottolini’s name! She is not going anywhere anytime soon. Fans can anticipate more music coming in the upping months, as she works towards a collection of songs and becomes a mainstay at festivals all season long.

Luke Bryan Drops New Patriotic Anthem “Country On”

Luke Bryan drops brand new patriotic anthem, “Country On”, out now, July 1st, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new track below.

Country superstar, Luke Bryan enters a new era of music with his brand-new single “Country On.” His latest project, Born Here Live Here Die Here, topped the charts and spawned five number-one singles. “Country On” is the first taste of what his next record will look like.

This song doesn’t follow the typical format of verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus; each verse highlights different hardworking, small-town people that make the world go round, including the farmers, cowboys, bartenders, military, and first responders. Written by David Frasier, Mark Nesler, Mitch Oglesby, and Styles Haury, Bryan aims to unite Americans with this track ahead of our country’s 246th birthday this weekend.

“I say, “Hey, hey, USA // We ain’t seen our better days” // Hell naw, hey y’all // Country on // Country on and on and on and on and on”

Fans of Bryan can catch him on his Raised Up Right Tour with Riley Green, Mitchell Tenpenny, and DJ Rock. For tickets, head to his website.

Kylie Morgan: ‘P.S.’ – EP Review

Kylie Morgan releases her new EP, P.S., out now, July 1st on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new project below and check out our full review.

One of our favorite songstresses in country music, Kylie Morgan just released her latest EP today. Her new project, P.S. is made up of seven songs that clearly show her zest for music, her talent as a songwriter, her impeccable vocals, and everything in between.

According to Morgan, “I can truly sit here and say, ‘I am so happy in my life.’ I feel like all my boxes are checked. I have my foundation and can truly be the person I was always meant to be for myself, my family, my friends, and my fans.” The record personifies this, as it continues the story from her first project.

Kicking off with “Independent With You,” Morgan ponders how she can be in a relationship and not lose herself. Next up, “If He Wanted To He Would,” marks Morgan’s debut single, heading to country radio today. The brutally honest nature of the song is one that any music fan can appreciate.

“Just ’cause he liked your old picture // Don’t mean he’s stuck on the past // Just ’cause he talks to your brother // Don’t mean he’s still attached // Just ’cause he’s drunk at 2 A.M. // Texts, “Hey, what’s up, girl, how you been?” // Don’t read too much into that // Don’t mean he wants you back”

The record continues with the next two songs on the project including “Love Like We’re Drunk” and “Gucci.” Both tracks serve as the lively, stage-ready songs on the project. The former is a guitar-heavy anthem, while the latter is a soulful, confident tune.

Next up is the only collaborative song on the project. Morgan joins forces with fellow songwriting buddy, Walker Hayes on “Country Anyway.” The clever and sassy song is melancholy, yet confident. The story is relatable and fun, something we have come to expect from the two stars.

“Always said you weren’t a fan of // Honky-tonkin’ in the neon haze // I bet you wouldn’t know Miranda // If she was singing on Tootsie’s stage // So, why do you always show up on Broadway // Being a downer, like you do // You know you wanna drive // Put the 615 and me in your rear-view // Hell, I’ll even buy you a beer or two”

On “Over A Redneck,” Morgan leans into her vulnerable side. The beautiful heartbreak song is relatable and poignant, a much-needed moment on the cohesive record. The final song, “Mean Girls” is one of our favorites on the record. The track is a beautiful and tender moment on the project. Although uncredited, Morgan is joined by her sister on the incredible tune. Anyone who has ever experienced bullying can relate to this impactful number.

P.S. is a true level up for Morgan. Her songwriting is some of the best in the industry, as she has a knack for crafting lyrics and a melody. The project proves Kylie Morgan’s staying power in country music and we have a feeling she is only just getting started.

P.S. EP Tracklist:

  1. “Independent With You” (Kylie Morgan, Erik Belz, Palmer Lee)*
  2. “If He Wanted To He Would (Kylie Morgan, Zandi Holup, Ben Johnson)
  3. “Love Like We’re Drunk” (Kylie Morgan, Jeff Garrison, Brian White)
  4. “Gucci” (Kylie Morgan, Nicolette Hayford, Pete Good)
  5. “Country Anyway” (feat. Walker Hayes) (Kylie Morgan, Elaina Jones, Walker Hayes)

Morgan Johnston’s new track, “After Me”  is out now, July 1st, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new song below.

We first introduced you to rising singer-songwriter, Morgan Johnston just a few weeks ago. During our conversation, we were excited to hear that Johnston was slated to release her popular song, “After Me” this week. The new song is officially out today.

The track is an absolutely relatable anthem for people everywhere. “With a nostalgic and contemplative feel, this song is about a girl who is reflecting on the complex feelings of what it would be like to be with someone, after they had to lose her,” shared Johnston in a recent press release.

She added later, a note to the listener stating, “I hope that this song makes you reflect, I hope it makes you feel seen and validated, and most importantly, I hope it reminds you to be precious with the love you choose to give.” On the track, Johnston reminds us all to know our worth and that it is okay to yearn for a past relationship at the same time.

“You take time to call your mom back // See the greener in your own grass // Found a place to plant your feet // After me // You don’t spend your weekends clocked in // Finally took that trip to Boston // Yeah I wish I could’ve seen // This version of you back when I was yours // No it ain’t that you weren’t good enough before”

Johnston is a songstress that we simply adore! We are excited to watch “After Me” continue to make waves in the music scene.

As we anticipate the Fourth of July coming in just a few days, Filmore may have given us the anthem of the summer. In an unexpected collaboration with none other than Pitbull, Filmore drops their brand new song “USA.”

The new jam is all about having pride for your country. A drinking song at heart, Filmore knows how to turn the heat up and create a song that will get everyone dancing (and drinking). Written by the singer with Pitbull and fellow songwriters, Sam Bergeson, Geoff Warburton, and Dallas Wilson, “USA” is a smash.

“Let me get you turned up // Let your redneck loose // Crank ya country up // To the red, white, and blue // Yeah if you love Levi jeans and freedom fried chicken // Jacked up trucks and honky tonk women // Raise ya drink to the home of the brave // Ain’t nobody partly like the USA”

Shawn Austin: ‘Planes Don’t Wait’ – EP Review

Shawn Austin’s brand new EP, Planes Don’t Wait, is out now, June 29th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new music below and check out our full review.

Earlier this week we introduced you to rising artist, Shawn Austin. It is very evident how much we enjoy the singer and his incredible talent. Today, Austin releases his brand new EP, Planes Don’t Wait.

The new project kicks off with one of the singer’s favorites off the project, “Somewhere In Austin.” On the track, Austin declares how he wishes he could stop thinking about that girl. We have all been there, missing someone, who is hard to forget.

“‘Cause there’s a girl somewhere in Austin // Paintin’ on her smokey eyes, trying to find // Some neon lights to go get lost in // Slippin on her 6 inch heels while I been // Spinning wheels from Key West to Boston // Running through my mind trying to get her off it // But hell it ain’t worked yet // There’s a girl I should forget, I ain’t forgotten // Somewhere in Austin”

Next up, “Tailgate To Heaven” is arguably the song that started it all for the singer. Featuring Chris Lane, the mid-tempo track is as romantic as they come. With swoon-worthy vocals and imagery throughout the lyrics, the song is one of our personal favorites on the project.

Austin continues to lean into his romantic side with his next song “Over Here.” Unfortunately, things do not go accordingly. The singer emotes how it feels to wish you were still with someone you love. Similarly, on the title track (another one of our favorites), “Planes Don’t Wait,” Austin shares the feelings associated with a break-up.

“She’s at thirty-seven thousand feet halfway to California // and I’m runnin’ these power lines // Puttin ‘in overtime here in Georgia // Chalk it up to a one-way ticket, didn’t get it now I’m sittin ‘here missin’ her // Time don’t stop, flies by fast // Hearts still break, love don’t last // And planes don’t wait”

The fifth song on the new EP is “Get You,” a beautiful ballad. Austin proves that he knows a thing or two about love and falling in love on this incredible track. On the contrary, on “Slip,” the singer digs into the flirty side of his personality. The track reveals how it feels to meet a new possible love interest.

Austin concludes his EP with “Talk Of The Town.” The anthemic song is the perfect way to wrap the fun and emotive project. Overall, Planes Don’t Wait helps listeners get to know more about Austin and his undeniable talent, giving us a taste of what he has to offer. We cannot wait for a full-length record!

Plane Don’t Wait EP Tracklist:

  1. “Somewhere In Austin” [Jordan Dozzi, Jacob Durrett, Craig Wiseman

Who Is Shawn Austin? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Shawn Austin? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

Quick Facts:

Full Name – Shawn Austin

Birthday – January 13th

Hometown – Vancouver, Canada

Musical Influences – Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Stevie Ray Vaughan

The Beginning:

We are back again with our next installment from our Spotlight series. Today, we are urging you to take note of singer-songwriter, Shawn Austin. The talented Nashville transplant is as talented a vocalist, as he is, an overall artist. We enjoyed getting to know Austin and his story of becoming a signed country recording artist.

Shawn Austin grew up in Vancouver, Canada. “I grew up in a very musical house, but I was kind of that typical jock. Baseball was the focus for a long, long time,” began Austin. Despite being surrounded by music, the singer was all about sports. However, in high school, he began to shift his focus to another hobby, music.

In order to to take the jazz band and rock band classes offered at his high school, Austin picked up the guitar. It was a really good opportunity to hone my craft and boost my GPA at the same time.” He added later, “It certainly set the foundation for me getting here today. Shortly after I got out of high school, I started playing restaurants and bars all over Vancouver and Whistler, anywhere I could play.”

With his baseball career sidelining him due to injuries, Austin became fixated on music throughout his time in college and thereafter. “I dove in with everything I had and thank god that happened.”

The Turning Point:

Since becoming a diehard music fan, Austin studied different genres of music in order to find his own unique sound as an artist. “I’ve always considered myself a mutt of music. […] There’s a lot of classic rock, a lot of country, a lot of pop, a lot of R&B,” shard the singer when asked about his musical influences.

“It’s been a great opportunity to explore all the different genres and pull influences from other genres, but country music was always going to be the foundation,” shared the singer. Adding later, “for whatever reason, the country sound, the country storytelling, the songwriting process of that always resonated with me the most.”

Continuing to develop his sound, Austin entered into a few musical competitions back in 2013. “It exposed me to so many great artists. We all got a chance to exchange stories and I kept hearing over and over again ‘you have to move to Nashville, you have to move to Nashville’,” began the singer.

“I made my first trip down [to Nashville] in 2015 and walked Music Row and did everything you’re not supposed to do, knocking on every door, getting a million ‘nos,'” shared the singer reflecting on his first time in Music City.

“I wouldn’t trade that now, because I think it gave me so much more appreciation for when things start to roll for you. It gave me a really great opportunity to explore Nashville as well.”

Today:

Flash forward to today, Austin is a signed Nashville recording artist. He inked his record deal with Big Loud/Dallas Smith joint venture, Local Hay back in 2021. Tomorrow, June 29th, the singer is dropping his brand new EP, Planes Don’t Wait.

The record has felt like 2.5 years in the making for Austin, who really credits the time spent during the pandemic for the creative process.  “Had we not had the downtime that the pandemic brought, we would not have gotten this more concise, true project to who I am now on these seven songs,” shared the singer “These songs reflect me as a person and me as an artist, and kind of where I am in life now.”

The seven-song project is slated to be some of the best work Austin has put out yet. One of the unreleased songs, “Somewhere in Austin,” is the singer’s current favorite on the project (although it changes). Written by Jordan Dozzi, Jacob Durrett, and Craig Wiseman, the song was a late addition that Austin just fell in love with. “It’s a special song that takes me back to that sound and that kind of vibe, but elevated.”

Austin also adds, “I also really have a really big soft spot for “Tailgate To Heaven” simply because it was so full circle to have Chris Lane on a track now.” As we wait for the record to be released, fans can expect more music and live shows on the horizon for the blossoming artist. He is definitely not going anywhere!
