Dylan Marlowe shares a brand new single, “You Did It Too,” out now, February 2nd, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new track below.
Dylan Marlowe is one of the most exciting new singer-songwriters in country music right now. However, like many artists, he has faced some criticism with his music from some country outlets after releasing a collaboration called “Boys Back Home” with Dylan Scott. While we thought the song was a true anthem for the country lifestyle, one outlet did not agree. This led to Marlowe writing and releasing a new single called, “You Did It Too,” out today.
I wrote this song after ‘Boys Back Home’ came out in a pretty angry moment,” shared the singer in a recent press release. “Usually I don’t let internet hate get to me but something about the hate behind a song I wrote because of how and what I grew up doing hit me different. ‘You Did It Too’ is my response to that hate, and it’s the most honest song I’ve ever written. Every line is true to my life. I write and sing songs about the way of life I know, and you’d probably get it if you did it too.”
“You can’t talk no smack // Yeah, unless you came up something like that // You’d get it if you did it // If you grew up right there in it // But you didn’t, so what gives you // the right to // Talk all that trash about our side of these tracks // Yeah, my backroad come back is you // Yeah, you’d get it, if you did it too”
“You Did It Too” is a catchy and honest moment in Marlowe’s growing catalog. The song solidifies that he truly believes in everything he writes about, and that the experiences, no matter how cliche they may seem to some are actually real and authentic to his story. The new single is one of our favorites from the singer so far, and it will be fun to see how his catalog continues to grow in 2024.
