Lady Antebellum Release “Ocean” and Announce Next Studio Album

Ocean Lady Antebellum

Opening with a stirring and solo piano melody, Lady Antebellum’s “Ocean” immediately sweeps listeners away. Much like the tide, the song ebbs and flows musically, cresting over the piano and the group’s unmatched harmonies. Featuring Hillary Scott on lead vocals and Dave Haywood on piano, the song is a lush and harmonic, showing the trio shining in its simplicity.

“It’s such a cinematic and theatrical melody with a message that became the cornerstone of this record for us,” Scott said in a press release. “Ocean is all of the things that we think and feel when we hear the word. This album is immersed in life stories about barely keeping your head above water all the way to those times that make you feel like everything is smooth sailing.”

The song, written by Tofer Brown, Sarah Buxton, and Abe Stoklasa, would not have sounded out of place on Scott’s solo project, Love Remains. “Here you are / Next to me / So much beauty at my feet,” She sings. “All I want to do is swim / But the waves keep crashing in / No I’m not afraid to drown / Take me out, take me down / I’m so tired of the shore / Let me in / Baby you’re an ocean / Beautiful and blue / I want to swim in you.”

Today, Scott, Haywood, and Charles Kelley announced their forthcoming album, also titled Ocean, due out November 15. The album marks the band’s first full-length release with Big Machine Label Group. It also marks their first collaboration with famed Nashville producer Dann Huff. “There’s this theme of returning to the core of who we are — as writers, vocalists, and people — that came out in each of these songs,” Haywood said in a statement. “Our time in the studio with Dann had an excitement that felt like we were making our first album all over again.”

Ocean features a bevy of Nashville’s hottest songwriters, including Ryan Hurd, Sarah Buxton, Dave Barnes, Corey Crowder and more. The record will also feature a collaboration with Little Big Town, written by Daniel Tashian, Tenille Townes, and Kate York. Skip straight to track eleven for that highly-anticipated track, “The Thing That Wrecks You.”

Lady Antebellum, Ocean Track List:

1. “What If I Never Get Over You” (Sam Ellis, Jon Green, Ryan Hurd, Laura Veltz)
2. “Pictures” (Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott, Sarah Buxton, Corey Crowder)

Miranda Lambert, LANCO & Cody Johnson Announce Wildcard Tour

Wildcard Tour

Miranda Lambert is currently on the road for her Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour with powerhouse female artists including Maren Morris, the Pistol Annies, Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde, Elle King, and Caylee Hammack. Just because Lambert is busy on tour and releasing songs from her next album does not mean she is not getting the next thing ready for fans.

On (September 20th), Lambert announced she is heading back on the road with Cody Johnson and LANCO, with Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum on select dates, for “The Wildcard Tour.” Named after Lambert’s new album coming out November 1st, the tour features 27 dates throughout the U.S. and Canada.

“The essence of a wildcard is always having something up your sleeve, in whatever capacity that means to you,” shares Lambert in a press release. “It is universal. Which is why I’m excited to kick off this tour with an incredible group of talented artists. We’re going to have a blast!”

Being the animal lover she is, Lambert is teaming up with Tractor Supply Company alongside her MuttNation Foundation campaign, Fill the Little Red Wagon. In each city, fans are encouraged to help shelter pets by donating dog food, treats, supplies, and cash at each venue’s entrance before the show. If helping loving animals is not an incentive on its own, supporters who complete a sign-up form at the donation point will also be entered to win a meet & greet with the “Way Too Pretty For Prison” singer herself.

Continuing shows across the country in 2020, there are so many opportunities to see her in action as well as some amazing opening acts. Before you go to any of her shows make sure you have listened to her new hits, as she is releasing songs off her upcoming album. “It All Comes Out in the Wash,” “Bluebird,” “Pretty Bitchin’,” and “Way Too Pretty For Prison” are all sneak peeks of what is to come in November.

He’s BACK! Sam Hunt Debuts Brand New Song “Sinning With You”

Sam Hunt catapulted to superstardom with his debut Grammy-nominated album, Montevallo back in 2014. Two years later, he released the record breaking hit song, “Body Like a Back Road”, which sat at the top of the charts for 34 weeks. Since that? — Nothing. We have not heard much from the singer-songwriter, leaving the country music industry and fans everywhere stumped.

In June 2019, Sam Hunt broke his silence leaving fans in suspense when he took to social media to post a cryptic message including just a few emojis and a countdown, leading fans to believe that new music was coming. However, upon completion much to everyone’s disappointment (except for maybe those in Canada) Hunt announced he would be a part of the Bud Light House Party Tour in Calgary on September 19th.

Months went by and still no word from Sam Hunt until that House Party Tour came which aired live on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Hunt tells the crowd that new music will be coming in about a month and fans can expect the new record in the early new year. About 50 minutes into the set of finally hearing that familiar voice, the superstar told the packed out room, “for the folks that are listening at home, I wanted to play something from the new record. It’s kind of chill and slow. If y’all will humor me, I’ll play that and then we’ll go out with a bang.”

Hunt started the song alone with just him and the acoustic guitar as the rest of the band slowly joined in on the delicate track and officially debuted the future release, “Sinning With You”. Check it out in the video below on the 53-minute mark.

Tyler Rich Marries Sabina Gadecki in ‘Festival Themed’ Wedding

Singer-songwriter, Tyler Rich and actress Sabina Gadecki are officially married! The two tied the knot in a beautiful ‘festival-themed’ wedding at Saddle Woods Farm in Murfreesboro, Tennessee in front of 275 of their closest friends and family, according to People.

The festival-themed idea stems from Stagecoach Music Festival, where the couple first met three years ago and pays tribute to their early memories together and their now daily life on the road and at festivals across the country.

NYCountry Swag caught up with the “Leave Her Wild” singer earlier this summer at Taste of Country Music Festival where he dished about the upcoming wedding and his future wife.

“She’s a little crazy, the best kind of crazy. She’s always the life of the party. She’s always smiling and jumping around and partying.” He told us in an on-camera interview. “That’s what drew me to her, when I first saw her. I was like ‘I love her spirit, I love her energy.’” Check out the full interview in the video below.

Tyler Rich shows no signs of slowing down. Almost a year to the date from releasing his debut self-titled EP, Rich announced earlier this week that he would be releasing brand new music very soon and just next week he kicks off the ‘Heartache Medication’ Tour with headliner Jon Pardi. New York country fans can grab tickets to the show here and enter for your chance to win here.

Congratulations, Tyler & Sabina!

Thomas Rhett Performs “Remember You Young” On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Thomas Rhett Remember You Young

Thomas Rhett showed up to New York City a few days before his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden to perform his newest single on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. “Remember You Young” is the second single off Rhett’s fourth studio album Center Point Road.

Colbert introduced the Academy of Country Music Male Vocalist of the Year while holding his latest album. Rhett’s performance was simple yet emotional and raw as he sang about old friends, his wife, and his precious little girls. With smoke in the background, Rhett captured the audience with meaningful lyrics.

“And no matter how much time goes by / And no matter how much we grow up / For worse or for better, from now ’til forever/ I’ll always remember you young”

Earlier today, the official music video for “Remember You Young” premiered on a billboard in Times Square at 12pm EST. For those not in NYC, fans everywhere can catch the premiere on YouTube beginning at 12:15 EST. Tonight, Rhett brings the ‘Very Hot Summer Tour’ to Madison Square Garden for a sold-out show featuring his father, Rhett Akins, Russell Dickerson and Dustin Lynch.

To keep up with Rhett, his family and his ‘Very Hot Summer Tour’ follow him on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

NYCS First Impression: Ryan Hurd ‘Platonic’

Ryan Hurd Platonic

Acclaimed Nashville songwriter, Ryan Hurd, settles into his own style on his new EP, Platonic. No stranger to the limelight, the country artist has written hit songs for everyone from Jake Owen and Dierks Bentley to Florida Georgia Line and Rascal Flatts. Yet, where he really shines is with his own brand of romantic storytelling immersed in hooky melodies.

In 2018, he released an emotional ode to his wife (country superstar Maren Morris) with the single, “Diamonds and Twine” to a smattering a success. The track positioned the artist as more than just a songwriter, but a musician in his own rite. On Platonic, he settles effortlessly into the sound that fans have come to expect, with a renewed focus on the power of storytelling.

If there’s one thing that the “To a T” songwriter does well, is bring a touch of summer sunshine to any track he writes. That’s never more apparent than on “Half Hoping.” Bursting with radiant energy, the regretful breakup song sizzles with the kind of melody you hope never ends — sort of like summer itself. “I’m wishing you would stay / wishing you’d come over /you’re the angel and the devil talking on my shoulder / wishing I’d forget you / but happy I remember / baby, wishing I could pick a side but I’m right in the center”

Title track, “Platonic,” is one of those slow burn romantic stories people write novels (and music) about. Hurd languishes in his usual style, where he paints such a clear picture with his lyrics you can almost see it playing out in front of you. A mid-tempo shuffle that begs for a couples dance, this is a song that’s bound to climb it’s way up the charts and into our hearts.

If ever there was a song that brought you back to your first love, it’s “Florida With A Girl.” The laid back ballad taps into the dizzying anticipation of falling in love for the first time. It captures the moment when you step boldly into adulthood and wrangle with feelings, unlike any you’ve ever felt. From the gentle lull of the melody to the hushed vocals, the songwriter transports us to that place in time. “It was warm cheap beer chasing first kiss fear when the sun goes down / it wasn’t just one week / wasn’t just some beach in a spring break town / it was Florida with a girl”

The final track will break your heart for all the right reasons. A dreamer’s oasis wrapped in a melody, it reflects on how more love in the world would do us all some good. Acoustic guitar mingles with Hurds honied vocals, building a warmth that infuses the meaning of the song into the arrangement itself. On the track, Hurd shares one final line that stands out as a motto we could all live our lives by: “If I could make a wish for the world there would be more music / whenever you got lonely you could always find a friend”

Check out our interview with siner-songwriter from earlier this summer when we caught up with him at Taste of Country Music Festival.

The Nashville rising star knows a thing or two about writing great songs, but with his newest EP, he taps into the format that serves him best. Positive vibes and feel good charisma pack the melody-fueled EP — making Platonic a must listen. To keep up with Ryan Hurd follow him on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.

NYCS First Impression: Riley Green ‘Different Round Here’

Riley Green Different Round Here

Alabama native and one of our favorite rising artists, Riley Green finally released his debut record entitled Different ‘Round Here. The fourteen-track record is full of songs for both the traditional and modern-day country lover. It encompasses eight of the songs off his renowned EP’s In a Truck Right Now and Get That Man a Beer EP. The new record is laced with old-school country influences and themes of heartbreak, love, and pride in small-town upbringing. Green continues to prove why we named him one of our 2019 Artists to Watch.

As it should, the album begins with “There Was This Girl,” which was the song that seemingly started it all for Green. The track was both his first radio single and his first number one song, and the buzz surrounding the track quickly catapulted Green into the limelight. Check out our Swag Session with him, where he sang the song as it was climbing the charts, along with, “In A Truck Right Now,” a heartfelt ballad off the record.

The album also features “Same Old Song” and “Break Up More Often.” The former is an upbeat bop, while the latter is a romantic ode to the trials people face in a relationship. Green lays it on thick for the girl he loves, expressing the charming and cheeky sentiment “If tellin’ each other goodbye is gonna lead to a long slow kiss / If you tearin’ out of my drive is gonna get us makin’ love like this / It’s crazy to think that yesterday we weren’t even talkin’ / if this is how it’s gonna be / then baby maybe we should break up more often.”

Green continues to melt hearts with his true blue country twang and swoon-worthy vocals in “My First Everything” and “Hard To Leave.” The first is a slightly melancholy, yet nostalgic tune. The singer reminisces about that “that first loving feeling.” He laments about the feelings that only apply to your first love. He lets fans into the inner workings of his heart on this track. “You were my first love / My first broken heart / That’s all you were to me / Just my first everything.”

In “Hard To Leave,” Green’s vocals are accompanied by a soft musical arrangement. While still keeping his manly man edge, the singer admits to not wanting to leave his girl after a great time together. Calling it a “tough love song,” the singer-songwriter shines a light on the special moments of experiencing love, without actually mentioning the word. “Girl you make it hard to leave / You got some kind of hold on me / You drive me wild / Giving me that smile.”

The rising artist continues to emote in “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” and “Numbers On The Cars.” Both pre-released tracks pay homage to Green’s late grandfathers. The first garnered approval by fans even before its release. It’s a staple at his live shows and Green’s current radio single. The latter is a more direct appreciation song for both of his grandfathers. He tackles the difficult subject of Alzheimer’s disease and how it changes your relationship with your loved ones. Green’s vulnerability and authenticity are obvious in both of these impactful tracks.

For fans, who love Green’s honesty, the singer included two songs that personify pride in his upbringing. Both the title track and “Outlaws Like Us” remind fans that the rising artist will always be a good ole’ country boy at heart. In both songs, the singer shows his appreciation for the American flag and his “one-stoplight town.” Although clearly personal, both the songs tug at your heartstrings and also make you cherish your own upbringing, regardless of how similar or different it may have been.

Continuing the theme of honesty, Green shows off his unique perspective on break-ups in “In Love By Now,” “Runnin’ With An Angel,” and “Get That Man A Beer.” The first track tells the story of a guy admitting that he probably blew his chance with a girl that has it all together and knows her worth, while “Runnin’ With An Angel” appears to be a song about the singer’s muse. He compares himself to the devil and her to an angel, while admitting that he tried everything to get over her. Finally, he comes to the realization that she’s too good for him.

In “Get That Man A Beer,” Green ironically sides with his ex’s ex-boyfriend. Relating to what the man went through post-break-up, “she did what she did to me to him,” he empathizes by encouraging others to buy the guy a drink.

Regardless of whatever side of Green you relate to the most, he’s got that undeniable ‘it factor’ and one of a kind talent. According to the rising artist, “Whether you’re writing or singing country music, the best thing you can be is different. And I want to have a sound that is unique.” He goes on to add:  “For me to say, ‘We do things different round here’ was a good way to present not only my first record, but me. I do things different and the fans allow me to do that. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

In this case, Green nails it. He created a record that is undoubtedly unique, yet has that familiarity, where listeners will want to listen again and again. We can’t wait to see his career take off! Find tickets to his first-ever headlining tour here.

Jon Pardi Chats About His Upcoming Project & Album Release Show in NYC

Jon Pardi

Last week we spoke with Jon Pardi about all of the exciting things he has coming up including his third studio album, Heartache Medication, and his album release show that will take place at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. For a chance to win tickets to the show, + meet and greets, and a copy of the album, use the form below then head to Facebook for additional opportunities.

Pardi explains that he is currently on the road on his “rolling pirate ship”. As he gears up for his next project to be released, the songwriter/ artist tells us that this record is “a little more rootsy”.  He explains “It’s more there are a lot of influences where I grew up on listening to Brooks and Dunn, Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, Mark Chestnutt, all kinds of sounds on there, that’s all blended together to where it’s me, it’s brand new sounding but it’s got a little remembrance of a different time.”

Photo by Justin Aharoni for NYCountry Swag

Pardi has released four songs so far from the upcoming project and along with the title track, each is cleverly written, giving traditional country fans and modern country fans alike something to fall in love with. By bringing back the classic country instruments like a fiddle, and steel guitar, the twang is palpable while the lyrics are relatable to the current day. One of the songs we are most excited about was written by Eric Church, Miranda Lambert along with Michael Heeney and Luke Laird and features Lauren Alaina. “Don’t Blame the Whiskey” was written around the same time as “Drink In My Hand”, and Pardi recalls hearing it years ago and always loving it. “I knew me and Lauren sang great together, we hosted the ACM Honors together and we sang a lot,” he says of the decision to add a female voice. “She’s got a really soulful voice on this track, she can belt it, Lauren Alaina’s got some vocal pipes but it’s a little softer and it’s really pretty”.

Heartache Medication will be drop on Friday, September 27th and on that night, Pardi will celebrate by performing at the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City with special guest, Tyler Rich.  “This is my time, I can not wait to release the album in New York City, I love the city, the fans are awesome, this record fits the fans,” Pardi says. “A lot of people ask why I’m doing the album release in NYC but all the fans want to do is have a good time, I feel like my music resembles a good time”.

He understands that the vibe in the Big Apple is something completely unique and the pride people have about living there is always evident. “I try to tell people when the rednecks question it, I tell people, Garth did it back in the ’90s and he had a million people at Central Park so, there is obviously a country crowd there.”

Photo by Justin Aharoni for NYCountry Swag

After his show at Hammerstein Ballroom, Pardi will set out on his Heartache Medication tour with two sold-out shows at The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Although he loved his direct support position on Dierks Bentley’s ‘Burning Man Tour’ he looks forward to getting more up close and personal with fans on this intimate tour.

To keep up with Jon Pardi follow him on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Midland Kick Off Their ‘Let It Roll’ Tour in New York City

MIdland

Last night, the honky-tonking Texas trio Midland kicked off the first show of their Let It Roll Tour to a packed house at Terminal 5 in New York City. The group has been on a roll themselves as of late, with their critically-acclaimed sophomore album scoring No. 1 on the Billboard charts in the first week of release, a headlining tour, and two CMA Award nominations for Vocal Group of the Year as well as New Artist of the Year.

The soulful, straight-shooter Desure took the stage prior to Midland to get the crowd ready for some toe-tapping, two-stepping country music. Through honest storytelling and an outlaw vibe, Desure proved why Rolling Stone has named him one of country’s “Top 10 Artists You Need to Know.”

The energy level was especially high when the boys of Midland lead vocalist Mark Wystrach, lead guitarist Jess Carson, and bass player Cameron Duddy walked on stage. Their opening song “Playboys,” was exactly what the crowd anticipated, a fun-filled song with an eclectic play on words showcasing what Midland is known for. Their smooth vocals shined during their second song as they sang “Let It Roll,” the title track off of their latest album. Everyone’s hands were in the air clapping along to the catchy “21st Century Honky Tonk American Band.”

Midland slowed things down a bit with their groovy track “Cheatin’ Songs” before singing the fan-favorite, and latest single “Mr. Lonely.” The crowd was loving every minute of the toe-tapping song about the “guy who all the girls are talking about.” They followed up their current hit with the sentimental “I Love You, Goodbye” displaying their soft yet strong vocals.

As Wystrach introduced the next song, he spoke about young love and big dreams growing up, and said “This song encompasses what it felt like in those days when life was a little bit more simple, and chasing those simple times,” and they sang the nostalgic “Fast Hearts and Slow Towns” displaying the trio’s incredible harmonies.

Midland Setlist

It is evident Midland’s music is as personal as you can get. After singing “Cheatin’ By the Rules,” and “Every Song’s A Drinkin’ Song,” they paused and took a moment to survey the crowd and explain the feeling in the room. Upon reflecting, Wystrach said, “I see it all around, it’s that L, it’s that O, it’s that V, it’s that E. It is the greatest thing in the world, it is the one thing that this country is poor on right now.” They urged us all to “bring a little bit more love into your world, to “take a breath, have some patience, and spread it, because I promise you we are all better when there is more L.O.V.E. baby! “That is the only reason we do this, y’all feel the love tonight New York City?” The roar of agreement from the crowd set the stage for their hit song “Make A Little.” Following a lesson on love, the band sang “Put the Hurt on Me”, “Roll Away,” and “Somewhere On The Wind.”

At one point in the night, Midland requested the house lights to be turned on for a special toast to the New York City crowd for setting the bar high. In celebration of the first night of the tour, Wystrach graciously said, “Cheers, you guys. Thank you, this is beautiful. I love looking out at this crowd, I see people from every corner of this world and that’s what Midland is all about. We’re about the love, we’re about the music and bringing people together, thank you guys for coming to our show.”

The trio’s encore began with the song that put the band on the map, the classic hit, “Drinkin’ Problem,” and continued with “Lost in the Night,” and “Gator Boys,” before closing the show out with “Gettin’ the Feel” and “Fourteen Gears.” By the roar of the crowd, no one wanted the night to end. There is no doubt Midland is invigorating and unique yet sticking to their own traditional country roots and are destined for continued success and accolades. Midland’s Let It Roll tour is scheduled throughout the remainder of the year and is making stops in their home state of Texas, Colorado, and even Hawaii.
