Easton Corbin Is Back with New Single, “Turn Up”

Easton Corbin Turn Up

It feels like forever since talented singer-songwriter Easton Corbin has released any new music. Fans can revel in excitement as the artist officially released a new tune today, “Turn Up.” The new release follows the buzz around the ten year anniversary of Corbin’s number one hit “A Little More Country Than That.”

The new jam is the perfect country song for your playlist, as we head into the summer. Corbin’s southern drawl is on full display, as he sings the cleverly-strung together lyrics. Of course, the main message of the song is to have some fun and to “turn up,” but Corbin finds a way to cleverly weave the “turn up” phrase throughout the hook and chorus. For example, “Let’s turn up that river bank dirt road / I’ll turn up that country boy charm,” and then mixes it up again with the lyric, “Turn up a little Conway Twitty / We might just turn up in love.”

The new song marks the first release off a new EP slated to come out sometime later in the year. Although it’s a different sound than the song that made us fall in love with Corbin’s unique sound, “Turn Up” has the personality and the vibe that is unique to his artistry. We love seeing artists take risks, and we are excited to see what the singer’s next release will sound like!

To keep up with Easton Corbin follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Turn Up” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

NYCS First Impression: Chase Rice ‘The Album Part II’

Chase Rice The Album Part 2

Country singer-songwriter, Chase Rice, released The Album Part II today (May 15th), the follow-up to The Album Part I, which came out in January. Part II contains four tracks, three of which Rice co-wrote with his friends Jon Nite, Chris DeStefano, and other talented Nashville songwriters.

This four-track record begins with “You” (Rice, Nite, Zach Kale), a love song about how the protagonist believed they had everything they wanted until they met this other person who completely changed their outlook on life. An uncredited female singer provides background vocals in the chorus. Rice gives a shout-out to New York City with the line You don’t know how bad that you’ve got me, no no / It’s true, without you / It’s Times Square with no lights at midnight.”

Rice, who is very active on Instagram, has teased a few songs off this album including this next one, “Break. Up. Drunk.” Rice posted a video on March 25th showing him and his producer (DeStefano) finalizing the track. It’s about a relationship in which the two parties like each other, but deep down they know it’s not going to go anywhere. So instead of being sad about it, they take advantage of their last night together by splitting a bottle of whiskey and getting into bed together.

It’s gonna hurt like hell and I don’t wanna feel too much / If we’re gonna break up let’s break up drunk”

There are not many songs Rice records that he doesn’t co-write, but this song was too special to pass on. “I’d say, it’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever put out,” he says of the next track “Down Home Runs Deep.” “It takes me back to high school. I grew up in a small little town in the mountains of North Carolina, and it was just me and my buddies. We thought we ran that town and, in some ways, I guess we kind of did.” This song was written by Daniel Ross, Mike Walker, James McNair, and one of our favorite rising, country stars, HARDY. Listeners can tell it’s a HARDY song within the first few lines as he describes his hometown with very specific characteristics and catchy phrases. Smelled the sweet of them pines / And it’s honeysuckle, belt buckle paradise,” he sings in the first verse.

Rice said the final song, “Belong,” wasn’t originally slated for this album, but he felt that it could be used as a comfort to people during these trying times. This is definitely the most meaningful song he has ever released. He discusses how fear, hardships, and uncertainty are all a part of life, and there are positives to be gained in any negative situation. For example, he tells the story of a kid who sold his Jordans for his mother’s treatments, and that helps him realize there’s still love in the world. He also mentions how he feels lost in his cell phone at times, but that phone allows him to remember lyrics and melodies that pay his bills. “The moral of the story is we’re right where we belong,” Rice assures. “Don’t panic. We’re gonna get out of this and the thing is, we’re gonna do it together.”

Rice is also contributing to COVID-19 relief. The “Lonely If You Are” singer announced on his Instagram page last week that he is now on Cameo, a website where users pay celebrities to give personalized shout-outs to their friends and family. He joked that he would use the extra cash for beer money, but actually, he is donating 100% of the profits made from the site to his band and crew.

Rice is scheduled to open up select dates for Rascal Flatts on their Life is a Highway Tour. Although we are uncertain if we will see any concerts this summer, we are certain that these are not the final tracks on The Album; there will be a part III that fans can expect later this year. Rice has grown a lot as an artist over the years and we are excited to see what he has in store for us.

NYCS Picks:

  1. “Belong”
  2. “Down Home Runs Deep”

Track List:

You (Chase Rice, Jon Nite, Zach Kale)

NYCS First Impression: Travis Denning ‘Beer’s Better Cold’

Travis Denning Beer's Better Cold

When you combine the influence of hair metal bands with your Georgia roots, it results in the creative sound of country music newcomer, Travis Denning. His debut EP, Beer’s Better Cold, released today (May 15th) and contains six tracks, five of which the 27-year-old from Warner Robbins co-wrote. “I want people to come away thinking ‘Who in the hell was that?'” he says of his first major-label project. “And ‘Where can I hear more?'”

“Where That Beer’s Been” starts off the record. This song gives us a taste of who Travis Denning is; a simple, southern boy who likes to let loose and have a good time. “I don’t know where that beer’s been, but I know where it’s going,” he sings.

The lead single, “After a Few” is climbing to the top of the country charts; it currently sits at number six on Billboard Airplay. Written by Denning, Kelly Archer, and Justin Weaver, this song tells the story of how a few drinks is all it takes for the singer and his former lover to make a mistake they will both regret in the morning. The electric guitar is prevalent on this track, showcasing his rock-influence. Denning describes this sound as “a hypnotic Tom Petty vibe.” Watch the music video below:

The next song, “ABBY” will likely be the next single as it is getting a lot of airplay on satellite radio. “ABBY” is an up-tempo, breakup song in which the protagonist is happy to finally end his relationship. Abby, however, is not the name of the other girl, it stands for “anybody but you.” We heard this song for the first time back in December when Denning opened for Riley Green at the Gramercy Theatre. “It’s not about one girl, and it’s not about all girls, this song is just about that one person that you don’t give two shits about anymore in your life,” Denning announced at the show. The songwriters (Ashley Gorley, Chase McGill, Matt Jenkins) use a fun and clever acronym to describe this unfortunate, yet common situation.

“Won’t make me go crazy like you know who / and her name is ABBY / that’s anybody but you”

In the next track, “Tank of Gas and a Radio Song”, Denning reminisces of good times just driving and fooling around with ex. He says the relationship was like a tank of gas and a song on the radio, as the best things in life don’t last long enough.

We anticipated another drinking song with the title track “Beer’s Better Cold” but Denning just uses the phrase to begin his list of the common facts of life. Unfortunately, the list that takes a melancholy turn as it closes with the fact that his ex won’t be back in his life anytime soon.

“Touchdowns-six, seven with a kick / a good song hits home and it’s always gonna be like that / Yeah, that’s just the fact, that beer’s better cold and she ain’t coming back”

The EP ends with a love song, “Sittin’ By A Fire.” Denning turns down a bonfire party with the boys because he was already sitting by a fire, meaning the person he is with. The sparks in her eyes and her red-hot kiss is all he needed to convince him that this was a better way to spend his Saturday night.

“We wanted the core of these songs to sound like a dad-gum rock band,” Denning said in a press release. “I wanted it to be guitar, bass, and drums, and there was something cool about starting there. It really anchored the songs on this power trio, in-your-face thing, and that was such a key-switch in my head. It was like ‘Alright, this is it.'”

Growing up, Denning listened to all types of music from Motley Crue, The Allman Brothers Band, and Outkast. He moved to Nashville when he was 21 and began writing music for Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Chase Rice, and others. He tallied his first top-25 hit for Michael Ray with the song “Her World Or Mine.” His break-out as an artist came with his original song “David Ashley Parker from Powder Springs”, a fun, teenage anthem about a boy with a fake I.D.

“I feel like a lot of people today come from where I come from – we just like music and it doesn’t matter what you call it,” Denning said. “I’m gonna make music for people like that.”

Denning has already toured alongside artists such as Riley Green, LANCO, Dustin Lynch, and others, performing mostly covers. The release of this EP expands his catalog and allows him to elongate his sets and perform original material. Although we are uncertain when live shows will resume, Denning is scheduled to hit the road with Sam Hunt on his SOUTHSIDE Summer Tour; a great opportunity to showcase these songs to country music fans all over the US.

NYCS Picks:

  1. “ABBY”
  2. “Beer’s Better Cold”

Kenny Chesney Postpones 2020 Chillaxification Tour

In most major cities, ‘Kenny Day’ has become a summer favorite as superstar Kenny Chesney‘s stadium tour makes its way through the country all summer long. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all non-essential events including live concerts and festivals have fallen victim to being forced to postpone or cancel shows altogether. Most recently, this includes superstar Kenny Chesney’s 2020 Chillaxification Tour.

“With so many tours needing to move and wanting to make sure we are in the best possible circumstances for No Shoes Nation, I think – and I hate saying this – it’s best to move everything into 2021,” Chesney says in a press release. “In the best interest of everyone – No Shoes Nation, my road family, the staff at the venues – we have decided to quit moving the dates around on the calendar, trying to make a chunk of this year work and go to where we believe we can roll out the entire Chillaxification Tour.”

Original tickets are automatically valid for a rescheduled show date. If you have tickets to a postponed show, refund options will be available at the time a rescheduled show date is announced.

Kindness Isn’t Canceled Spotlight: Nightly News Kids Edition

It has been a tough few weeks for Nashville, for the country, and for the world. Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, people are trying to rebuild their homes, many Americans are losing their jobs, and we are all forced to stay in as we fight through this pandemic. Despite all this turmoil, beauty and kindness have remained.

We decided to flip the script and shine our spotlight, while we can, on some of the kindness that we have witnessed from others because Kindness Isn’t Canceled. To grab your exclusive shirt, click here.

This week, we learned of a cool way that a famous newscaster Lester Holt is given back to the community. Young kids, children, and even teenagers are constantly asking questions to their parents and other adults about what is going on in the world, and sometimes, mainstream news is too scary or too much for even adults. With that being said, families can only shelter their kids for so long, and truthfully, they deserve to be given the chance to understand.

Lester Holt Nightly News Kids

For all these reasons, Holt in conjunction with NBC News has started NBC NIGHTLY NEWS: KIDS EDITION as an outlet to discuss all the top stories going on in the world in a way that kids can understand and digest. The program broadcasts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, running for approximately 10 minutes. The show is also available via NBC’s Youtube channel.

Children have a voice, so it’s important that we give them the platform to be heard and to comprehend everything going on. Even so, Holt makes it a point to discuss lighthearted and happy subjects too because admit all the chaos in the world, there are positive stories to relish in too.

Know somebody spreading incredible acts of kindness during these difficult times? E-mail us at: [email protected].

We look forward to continuing to keep bringing you more stories that remind us that Kindness Isn’t Canceled. Join us in our campaign, and buy yourself a t-shirt here. As always, we appreciate your support of  NYCountry Swag.

Baker Grissom Drops Timely “There’s A Drink For That”

Baker Grissom

Last year we highlighted an artist, who we instantly felt a connection to with his debut EP Saturdays and Sunday. Since then, Baker Grissom has performed at one of our Manhattan By Sail events and even released some more new music. At the end of March, the singer released “working man,” and just last week, Grissom premiered one of his most enticing songs to date, “Drink For That.”

The new jam came at the perfect time. Grissom recognized fans’ needs for a good, old-fashioned drinking song, during these crazy times. Despite the typical topic, the singer breathes new life with both clever lyrics and a comedic music video. The singer encouraged fans to send int their best quarantine drink of choice video, and fans did not disappoint. You might even see a few familiar faces sharing a virtual mimosa around the 38-second mark 😉

“Where there’s shots in the hands of a bad cover band / There’s bachelorettes drinkin’ down doubles / Where there’s a couple warm cans missin’ from the oil man / There’s kids out stirring’ up trouble / There’s one for a guy’ll make a jukebox cry with his two left feet / There’s one for the outlaws, one for the in-laws one for the woman that won’t leave”

Grissom has this effortless way of stringing together creative lyrics in such a way that works for him. His Eric Church vibes of course only add to his appeal. We hope more and more people start resonating with his talent because he deserves all the accolades.

To keep up with Baker Grissom follow him on Instagram and Facebook.

“Drink For That” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Corey Crowder Drops Rip Roaring Single “My Poor Mama”

Corey Crowder

Nashville’s charmer Tree Vibez singer + songwriter and producer, the company founded by Florida Georgia Line members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelly, Corey Crowder dropped a song just in the nick of time for Mother’s Day. “My Poor Mama” was released via Round Here Records on the encouragement of the FGL boys commenting in the press release, “Corey has written and sang too many great songs to not have them out for the world to hear.” Adding, “‘My Poor Mama’ is perfect to release right now for Mother’s Day, and we’ve all loved this song for a while now – so, why not? We couldn’t be more excited for him, and proud to be on this amazing musical journey together.”

Written by Crowder, Jaren Johnston, James McNair, and Jordan Schmidt, the rip-roaring, grit-vocoder fused guitar strokes encompass the rebellious child story where mama is consistently a good alibi. Drowning in influences from a bluesy magnetism and inviting instrumental stomp-your-feet-beat, the song lists everything that a mother deserves: a house in the Bahamas, infinity pool, a rosewood sauna, and a bank account with a couple more commas. It’s a tough guy’s hush-hush mama’s boy persona. You’re never too old nor macho to show gratitude for your mama.

He sings: “Cause my poor mama, man I put her through hell // she drained her savings account, keeping me out of jail // My poor mama, I swear she’s a saint, the way she put in the overtime and never got paid. // Saving my can was worth a million dollars / Than nobody’d be richer than my poor mama,”

Crowder is the hit producer behind Chris Young’s GOLD album I’M COMIN’ OVER. He’s had eight number one hits as a songwriter and producer having songs recorded by Morgan Wallen, Zac Brown Band, Dustin Lynch, LOCASH, Jake Owen, Lady Antebellum, and more. The songwriter has also had placements on hit TV shows One Tree Hill, The Biggest Loser, The Real World, and is a GRAMMY, Billboard Music Awards, and ACM nominee.

Who Is Restless Road? The Story Behind Their Journey to Country Music

Who is Restless Road? The existing new trio joined us to chat about their journey to country music. Get to know the singers here…

Restless Road

This week we spoke with the men of Restless Road, a new trio that continues to rise in popularity across the country music genre. The singers shared with us all about their writing and recording process, their time opening up for superstar, Kane Brown, and of course their journey to becoming a band.

Although Restless Road has gone through a few iterations as a band, the trio have finally found their sweet spot with Zach Beeken, Colton Pack, and Garrett Nichols as bandmates. Each brings something unique to the group. Growing up in different parts of the country, each member found their passion for music a little differently.

“I actually didn’t really get into singing until I was a bit older. I was about 15, 16 years old,” Beeken tells us, adding, “I grew up watching American Idol, and I saw Scotty McCreery audition and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.” Nowadays, he gravitates toward country singers with deeper voices like McCreery, Josh Turner, and the late Johnny Cash.

As for Pack, he credits his faith-filled upbringing as a big part of his career. “I started singing in church,” he shares, “I really didn’t start like as an actual thing until I was a freshman in high school and then I started making trips down to Nashville and writing.” He always had that “traditional backbone,” for country greats like Georgia Strait and Garth Brooks, but adds Keith Urban has always been a big inspiration for him and the trajectory of his career.

Growing up in Alabama, Nichols rounds out the trio. He fulfilled his father’s “rock star” dreams, when he fell in love with music, picking up a guitar when he was just 12 years old. He reminisced with us about his infatuation for Tim McGraw’s “Real Good Man,” adding “I would just sing that over and over again. […] I was really influenced by country music, I could not quit singing it.”

The three men finally crossed paths in 2013, after both Beeken and Pack auditioned as solo-artists on X-factor, and again as a band, but the group was not complete until Nichols received a DM via Instagram from the guys, asking for him to join. Interestingly enough, they met their tour mate, superstar, Kane Brown during their original X-factor audition. Little did they know that that relationship was going to help their careers blossom.

After several years in the industry, Restless Road received a text message that changed their lives and their careers. Brown not only invited the trio to open up for his ‘Worldwide Beautiful Tour,” a massive, sold-out arena tour, but signed them to his new label. “Honestly it was really surreal for us,” the men shared, “We have never released music before, and to be able to release music and as soon as we released it to head out on a major arena tour, it was something I just cannot describe,” added Pack, who spoke on the behalf of the group.

Although the tour has been halted, due to the worldwide pandemic and quarantine, Restless Road could not express enough gratitude for the experience and for fans, and added they cannot wait to get out there to play the rescheduled shows. “It will be over the top when we come back. I think we have a few things we have that we’re looking forward to when the tour comes back that we think fans will really enjoy.”

Until then, fans can continue to stream their debut self-titled EP. They worked really hard to cultivate a cohesive record, where each song can stand alone as a single. “All three of us picked songs that we felt stood out to us,” they said, “We always have a universal approach to [writing music] where we feel like anyone, everywhere can put themselves in that song.” The boys accomplished just that with songs that cover the spectrum for music fans.

As Restless Road waits out this chaotic time, they assure fans that they are in for a treat when they return, but send this sentiment to fans, “They can’t expect. That’s the goal.” It is a bit of a mystery of when the trio will put out a full-length project, but we know for sure that they will continue to write and hone their creative sides during downtime, and rest assure, they cannot wait to be the opening act and the first to take the stage when we are all able to get back to going to shows! Keep these guys on your watch list. They are the real deal!

To keep up with Restless Road follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Exclusive Interview: Nicolle Galyon & Landyn Hutchinson “All The Things”

All The Things Landyn and Nicolle

Earlier this week we spoke with lifestyle influencer Landyn Hutchinson and songwriter extraordinaire Nicolle Galyon about the theme song to Landyn’s new podcast being released this Monday, being working moms and how important it is to follow your dreams. The two business owners, mothers, friends, and creatives met in 2011 in Nashville before either of their businesses had really taken off. “Landyn has been my ambition twin…you have different things in common with different friends and my overlap with Landyn is that I feel like, we are equally ambitious and go about our dreams and curiosity in the same way,” Nicolle explains. “I think that is one thing about us, we both know what it takes behind the scenes and we do kind of, know what one another is thinking, ” Landyn echos the sentiment.

Many country music fans know of Nicolle Galyon and or at least, know the incredible songs she has written and we have highlighted her career as one of our Women of the Month last year but for those who don’t follow Living with Landyn, you are missing out. She uses her platform of social media to connect with women, and men, across the country and makes you truly feel like you are her best friend. She has built a following of over 200k people on Instagram who look forward to her hilarious banter, her delicious recipes, her adorable dog Jack, and hearing about her loving 8th grade sweetheart turned husband Steve, and her two beautiful children, Lily and Luke. Whether she is sharing the best skin care products or a Target steal, you always know that if she loves it, you will love it too. She is real with her followers, there is no facade or filters to make her life look perfect, you feel like you want to share her victories and when she bares her soul and cries about something, you feel her pain too. After pursuing and opening her own brick and mortar store right in her hometown of Nashville last year, Landyn is ready to make another career dream come true, a podcast.

Landyn All The Things

“I only deliver authenticity, it’s me, it’s raw, it’s what I’m talking about, what I’m thinking about. I want people to walk away with something that can make them think,” Landyn says of the podcast. “Whether its a recipe, an easy entertaining idea, something about marriage or raising kids. I’ll have people on like my husband, my mom, my daughter, my esthetician, my gynecologist, to my dermatologist, I think things we are all curious about and real-life honest conversations.”

The first Living with Landyn podcast will be available each Monday and on Fridays, she will release a short Q&A, similar to her popular ‘Hey Landyn’ segment from Instagram where she will answer specific questions that her followers submit.

The theme song, “All The Things” was written before the podcast even came to fruition by Nicolle along with Grammy award-winning songwriter Lori McKenna.”Lori is a Landyn groupie, I was calling her like ‘I’m a Landyn fan, you’re a Landyn fan, we should just do this to surprise her’,” Nicolle reveals about writing the song. “What do you get the girl that tells everyone what to get, you write her a song because that’s really is all there is left to give.”

The track, also sung by Nicolle, is a true testament to not only their unwavering friendship but every girl with a best friend can relate to these lyrics. “I love all the things you are, all the good and bad, all the happy, sad /  all the real, real life parts /  you’re a mess, perfect, take a breath, make it work, it ain’t that hard / cause I love all the things you are”.

Showcasing the real, real life is what Landyn does best and so the lyrics to this cheerful theme song fit her brand perfectly. “We just really tried to write something that makes you feel how you feel when you go to Landyn’s page, or when she gives you the morning announcements, ‘bright-eyed, sun, and whimsical, like anything is possible, quick thinking so hard about everything and just enjoy your life’ feeling,” Nicolle continues.

Finally, with Mother’s Day approaching this weekend we spoke about the importance of being a mother as well as making the decision to pursue and follow a dream while their daughters get to see and experience life’s failures and victories right alongside them. “Being a mother has shown me who I am, it’s just like a giant mirror up to my face every day and if I am a creative person and I want to be as authentic as possible and motherhood keeps you grounded and authentic, you can not be a faker and be a mom,” Nicolle reveals. “I feel like I have the opportunity, I think my North Star is trying to live the life that I would want for my daughter, by doing that I somehow give myself permission to dream bigger than I would if I was just thinking about it for myself.

Landyn’s daughter Lily who just started high school takes an active role in all things Living with Landyn, supporting her mom, and even taking the initiative to write her own blog posts and take over her Instagram for a week. “It’s been really neat to watch, I’ve even watched her put more into things that she is been doing just because she sees the passion in it and the hard work,” Landyn tells us. “I am very open about failing and feeling down and feeling defeated and having fear, getting back up again I can certainly hide her from those things but I think it’s important for her to go through all of it,  experience it with me and for her to see that you can do hard things.”
