Jimmie Allen Goes Number One with Song “down home”

Jimmie Allen scores his 4th number one song at country radio this week with his single, “down home.” Learn all the details here.

Jimmie Allen is certainly on his way to becoming a household name. The talented country music singer-songwriter is known for creating music that speaks to his fan base, his positive personality, and of course his incredible, undeniable talent. Earlier this year, Allen shared a special song called “down home.” Today the track is the number one song at country radio.

Written by Allen with Cameron Bedell, Rian Ball, and Tate Howell, the song pays homage to the singer’s relationship with his father, who passed away in 2019. The soulful song is a relatable song about grief, love, and survival.

When Allen found out about the song’s radio success, he took to social media sharing a touching sentiment. “Shout out to my friends at Country Radio for supporting “Down Home”. It’s a song I wrote about my father. So glad to see people have connected with you. To everyone mourning the loss of someone you love, so sorry for your loss. Hold on to the good memories you made with them.”

He later shared, “Dear Dad, I knew you existed and now the world knows. Thank you country radio for helping me share my father’s memory.” In the same post, the singer also thanked his co-writers.

“I promise I’m working // With this guitar ’bout as hard as I can // I met a girl, bought a house // Put a nice little payment, down home // Is still there where my heart is // This down home kid is just how you left him // I still hate that you’re gone, I wish you were here // But I hope I’m making you proud // ‘Cause I know you’re up there looking down home”

A huge congrats to Jimmie and his team! This number one is definitely a special one.

Luke Bryan Scores Number One with Song “Country On”

Luke Bryan scores his 30th number one song at country radio this week with single, “Country On.” Learn all the details here.

A mainstay in country music, Luke Bryan truly knows no bounds. His infectious personality and catchy songs have had country music fans celebrating his music for well over a decade. His most recent single, “Country On” marks his 30th number one song at country radio.

Bryan debuted the song back in July, which shows just how quickly the song catapulted up the charts. Written by David Frasier, Mark Nesler, Mitch Oglesby, and Styles Haury, the song is all about uniting Americans. It is as patriotic and anthemic as it can get, without coming across too cheesy or lacking substance. The song is the perfect song to remind fans across the world that we are all one, no matter our differences.

“Hey cowboy, keep slingin’ that rope // Eatin’ that dirt, wearing that gold // Break a leg rodeo, but just don’t break no bones // Country on // Hey barkeep, how ’bout another round? // Keep the neon lit in this crazy town // Just pour a little more // Country on”

In a world that often feels so divisive, it is nice that Bryan can continue to connect people through music. Music has always been the ultimate healer. “Country On” is one of those songs that can be medicine. Congrats to Bryan and his team on another incredible number one!

Why Do So Many Country Artists Support St. Jude?

As a country music fan, year after year, it’s almost certain that you’ve found your favorite country music artists supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Whether through benefit concerts, posts on social media, or rocking the ‘This Shirt Saves Lives’ tee, it’s pretty clear that St. Jude holds a very special place in the country music community.

While the answer may seem obvious by brief definition alone, — St. Jude leads the way the world understands, treats, and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. To learn even more, Country Swag took a visit to St. Jude during the annual ‘Country Cares Seminar’ this fall.

Launched more than 30 years ago, Randy Owen from the band Alabama stood up during Nashville’s Annual Country Radio Seminar and asked his friends, colleagues, and radio partners to join together to help St. Jude and the children they serve, and so, the ‘Country Cares Seminar’ was born. The program unites more than 200 radio stations, influencers, and dozens of country music artists annually to raise awareness and support for St. Jude.

During the seminar, all guests are invited to tour St. Jude, located in Memphis, Tennessee, and see firsthand the inspirational work that the teams at St. Jude are doing. Upon the first introduction, guests learn about the organization and what exactly makes it so impactful and so special. Perhaps the most remarkable part is that thanks to very generous donors, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food. Families receive the best care in the world, at no cost, making the worst and darkest days of their lives a little bit brighter – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

In addition, St Jude’s research facility and labs are open 24/7 and freely share their findings, protocols, and breakthroughs, so that every child saved at St. Jude means doctors and scientists worldwide can use that knowledge to save thousands of more children.

Thanks to generous donations, the brilliant teams at St. Jude have access to equipment that costs millions and millions of dollars, which just not all doctors and scientists everywhere have access to. This not only gives them the freedom to focus on what matters most — saving kids regardless of their financial situation, but they are able to share their discoveries and patients everywhere are getting treatments that were started at St. Jude. Consequently, when you’re donating to St. Jude, you’re not just donating to one hospital in one city, you’re funding the source and if speaking to cancer patients around the world, a common thread may be that many have been treated by protocols that have been sourced by St. Jude. St. Jude is actively working towards a world where no family ever has to hear the words “you have cancer”.

Seeing the work, hearing stories from doctors and patients alike, and understanding the experiences at St. Jude make it easy to recognize the importance of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and instantly inspires guests to get involved and help raise awareness. Next time you see your favorite artists talking about and supporting St. Jude it’s likely because they were able to have these experiences too and see firsthand the amazing work done at St. Jude.

Words like “inspiring”, “joy”, “positivity” and “healing” are just some of the many terms that came to mind for country artists like Breland, Kameron Marlowe, and Randy Owen, during their recent visit to St. Jude, as seen in the video above.

There are great research institutions, great hospitals, and great charities. St. Jude is all three. You can join the cause and help support St. Jude and the incredible initiative set forth by many country artists and celebrities alike with the ‘This Shirt Saves Lives’ t-shirt. For a monthly donation of just $19, you get the exclusive tee and all funds directly support the incredible St. Jude organization.

It costs over a million dollars daily to operate St. Jude each and every day. Donations allow St. Jude to continue to help children everywhere.

Join us and many of your favorite country artists like Carly Pearce, Sam Hunt, Dierks Bentley, and Kelsea Ballerini, and help save lives.

Thomas Rhett & Riley Green’s “Half Of Me” Goes Number One

Thomas Rhett and Riley Green score a joint number-one single at country radio with their song, “Half Of Me.” Learn more here.

There is nothing like a country music collaboration! Back in June, Thomas Rhett premiered his new song with duet partner and friend, Riley Green called “Half Of Me.” This week the song hit the number-one spot on the country radio charts.

While both Rhett and Green have many catchy songs in their individual catalogs, it is always fun when two artists team up on a track! “Half Of Me” fits the bill. Written by Rhett with Will Bundy, Josh Thompson, and Rhett Akins, while on tour, the song is all about wanting a drink more than anything else. Bringing Green as a collaborator on the song upped the ante of the already fun, and stage-ready track.

“Half of me wants a cold beer // Yeah, that’s the cold hard truth // And with a ‘frigerator stocked full of ’em // Tell me, what’s a boy to do? // I ain’t even tryna fight, it’s already been decided // The sky and the mountains are blue // Half of me wants a cold beer // And the other half does too”

“Half Of Me” marks the nineteenth number-one single for Rhett and the first for Green! Congrats to both superstars and their teams!

Tyler Hubbard earns his first number one song at country radio with his debut single, “5 Foot 9.” Learn all the details here.

While Tyler Hubbard (Florida Georgia Line) is no country music newbie, the frontman took the plunge into becoming a solo artist earlier this year. Back in May, Hubbard emerged with his debut song, “5 Foot 9.” In just a few short months, the track became a hit on country radio. Today the song marks Hubbard’s first solo number-one single at country radio.

The debut single was the perfect re-introduction to the singer-songwriter and his incredible talent. “5 Foot 9” is a love song dedicated to Hubbard’s wife. Written by Hubbard with The Cadillac Three leader Jaren Johnston and Chase McGill, “5 Foot 9” signifies the singer’s staying power in country music, no matter what the role.

“Dry wood makes good fires // Goodyears make good swings // All that’s all good but for me // God makes five foot nine, brown eyes, and a sundress // Loves Tim McGraw and a small town accent // Ain’t no way that me and this truck made her fall in love // Jack makes good whiskey but God makes the good stuff // Oh, God makes the good stuff”

It will be exciting to see how this new chapter in Hubbard’s life continues to evolve. Fans can expect his full-length solo album debut in January 2023. Congratulations to Tyler Hubbard and his team on their first number-one single with “5 Foot 9.”

Ingrid Andress & Sam Hunt Go Number One with “Wishful Drinking”

Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt score a joint number one single at country radio with their song, “Wishful Drinking.” Learn more here.

Last year when Ingrid Andress and Sam Hunt delighted fans with a new collaboration, we knew “Wishful Drinking” was something special. The sad-bop highlights the incredible vocal abilities from Andress, while Hunt’s signature sound shines through. “Wishful Drinking” marks the songstress’ first number one single at country radio and Hunt’s tenth!

The mid-tempo song is a masterful word-play track. “Wishful Drinking” depicts the feelings we all go through when we start drinking, thinking maybe things can work with someone you love. The two entertainers trade verses while maintaining some killer harmonies in the chorus.

“Maybe I’m just wishful drinking // Give my heart something to sink in // Better make it two, nothing I won’t do for another round of me and you // I get hopeful whеn I’m tipsy // Thinking you might actually miss me // It’s 100 proof, nothing I won’t do for another round of me and you”

While Andress and Hunt might have been an unpredictable pair, “Wishful Drinking” undeniably works. Clearly, country fans and country radio agree too! It will be interesting to see what is next for each artist respectively. Congrats to Andress and Hunt’s teams on an incredible feat!
