A busload of NYCountry Swag Fans Head to Luke Bryan + Sam Hunt at MetLife Stadium

The humidity and sun beating down didn’t stop Luke Bryan’s fans from packing out Metlife Stadium this past Saturday.  New York Country Swag headed to the New Jersey venue by the busload, bringing 50 fans from Rockaway Beach to tailgate and get to experience the record-breaking concert “What Makes You Country” event.  The lineup included four absolute powerhouse country artists: Morgan Wallen, Jon Pardi, Sam Hunt and finally headliner, Luke Bryan.

As the fans filed in from their tailgates, Morgan Wallen performed his huge single “Up Down” and Jon Pardi sang songs off his critically acclaimed album California Sunrise including “Heartache on the Dancefloor” and “Dirt on my Boots”.

Next up, Sam Hunt took the stage opening with his latest “Downtown’s Dead” then played all of the songs from his album Montevallo. He also took time to slow things down, grabbing a guitar and playing some old school country music acoustically. He closed his hour long set with “Body Like A Backroad”, to which every single person in the audience was singing along.

Finally, as the sun set, Luke Bryan took the stage with a pyrotechnic show as well as fireworks, opening his set with “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).  Bryan entertained for nearly two hours, at one point even rolling a giant cooler onto the stage and throwing Miller Lite beers out to the crowd.  It was the largest stadium crowd he has ever played for and his energy and vocal ability thrilled New York and New Jersey fans, singing songs from all of his albums that have gotten him to where he is today, a total superstar.

As if the spectacle wasn’t enough, he closed with “Rain is a Good Thing” before coming back for a two song encore. As the final song came to a close, like magic the skies opened up and rain droplets covered the crowds as they cheered and walked to their cars or buses on a total high.

NYCS First Impression: Morgan Wallen Debut Album ‘If I Know Me’

Morgan Wallen

Big Loud Records recording artist Morgan Wallen is not only wrapping up his first headlining tour,  but he is playing Stagecoach festival, releasing his debut album today and made his late night TV debut on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to sing “Up Down” joined by Florida Georgia Line and “Whiskey Glasses”.  Talk about an eventful weekend for the rising star who is excited to finally release this new music that he has been working on since he got to Nashville.

One thing that is undeniable about Wallen and his sound, is his accent.  His first single which was released early last year, “The Way I Talk” was an important message for the rising star to be true to himself, and although If I Know Me dabbles in southern rock, r&b, and pop country vibes, his southern accent makes any song sound traditional.

Wallen spent time opening for Florida Georgia Line who collaborated with him on his breakout hit “Up Down”. The track has now garnered over 92 million spins on Spotify, just recently was certified gold and is ready to break into the top 10 on the country charts. The Tennesee native took time to chat with New York Country Swag last Fall, about recording the single and his relationship with the duo.

The album is filled with tracks that are radio ready and primed to become singles, especially “Happy Hour”, “Whiskey Glasses” and the title track “If I Know Me”. Even the slower-tempo more emotion-driven songs “Redneck Love Song”, “Little Rain” and “Chasin’ You” have a certain charm about them.

Listen to the full album below or grab your copy on iTunes.

Joining Luke Bryan’s What Makes You Country tour that is hitting major stadiums all over the country this summer, Morgan Wallen is showing no signs of slowing down as his career takes off.  Tickets and tour dates available at www.morganwallen.com

Chris Lane Long Island

Interview & Review: Chris Lane and Morgan Wallen on the Take Back Home Tour

The grand opening of Stereo Garden (formerly The Emporium) in Patchogue, NY took place last night with The Take Back Home Tour featuring Morgan Wallen and Chris Lane.  Long Island country fans showed up early to grab drinks and a bite to eat at the newly renovated venue. As one of the largest music venues on Long Island, Stereo Garden’s decor and overall feel is inviting, encouraging fans to come early and stay late to enjoy the atmosphere, the beer garden, and the dance floor.  Prior to his set, Wallen took time to chat with New York Country Swag about his latest single, tour antics with Florida Georgia Line and Nelly and when we can expect his debut album.

As the fans filed in, trio, Levon, took the stage to warm up the crowd before opening act Morgan Wallen.  Lane and Wallen just wrapped up touring with Florida Georgia Line, an experience they both told us in interviews was incredible.  Wallen also just released his latest single “Up Down” with the duo which has almost 3 million streams on Spotify.  The singer sang tracks off his debut EP, including the title track and his first single “The Way I Talk”.  Mashing up songs from different genres he covered Linkin Park’s “In the End”, The Eagles, “Life in the Fast Lane” and Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name”, which had the entire audience engaged and singing along.

Two levels packed with fans, Chris Lane performed songs off his latest album Girl Problems including the title track, “Circles” and of course “For Her”.  “Thank you for spending your hard earned money to be with us tonight,” he said in between songs. “I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart”. Lane’s 75-minute set is high energy, features great sing-along covers like Tim McGraw’s “I Like It, I Love It”, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” and even NSync’s “Bye Bye Bye” (complete with a band choreographed dance to the 90’s smash pop song).

Slowing things down, Lane invited a fan who he noticed was singing every single word to his songs onto the stage to be serenaded.  He sang an album cut, “All About You” which made for a definite highlight of the night.  Taking the time to thank each of the members of his band and his team, including his merch guy (who came on stage rocking a very tiny, female, Chris Lane tank top) there wasn’t a dull moment to be found.  Closing out the night he sang his very first number one single, “Fix”.  Lane proved that being on tour with mega-stars Florida Georgia Line has taught him how to bring a dynamic show to his fans across the country.  The Take Back Home Tour continues through December, check out the full list of dates below.
