Morgan Wallen Drops Vulnerable “More Than My Hometown”

Morgan Wallen More Than My Hometown

Fans of rising country star, Morgan Wallen are in for a real treat today. The singer-songwriter finally released another song off his highly-anticipated sophomore record. “More Than My Hometown” follows the nostalgic single “This Bar.”

Written with singer-songwriters HARDY and Ernest with Ryan Vojtesak, Wallen knocks it out of the park with this romantic, yet angsty jam. Somehow, in his young career, Wallen has found a way to write and record songs that feel personal and true to his story, while engaging fans across the country genre. This particular cut finds Wallen at a romantic crossroads. Similar to the vibes of former single which is climbing the charts, “Chasin’ You” and deep cut “Talkin’ Tennessee,” the singer pours his heart out on the song, realizing that sometimes people who love each other are headed down two different paths.

Despite the melancholy nature of the narrative, Wallen somehow combines elements of heartbreak with nostalgia and a sense of hope. Although there is conflict in the song, Wallen reminds the girl of all the ways he can and does love her, even though realizing that things might not work out in the end.

“I love you more than a California sunset / More than a beer when you ain’t 21 yet / More than a Sunday morning Lord, turning some poor lost soul found, Hallelujah bound / I love you more than the feeling when the bass hits the hook / When a guy gets the girl at the end of the book / But baby this might be the last time I get to lay you down / ’Cause I can’t love you more than my hometown”

Wallen remains one of the most exciting artists in the genre. He has garnered an incredibly loyal fanbase in his short few years with mainstream attention. With the way his career has blossomed, we are sure his sophomore record is going to bring him to the next level. Soon enough, we predict that the singer will be selling out arenas of his own.

Morgan Wallen, Diplo and Julia Michaels Release “Heartless” Music Video

Heartless

Back in August 2019, Morgan Wallen surprised fans with “Heartless”, an EDM collab with music producer Diplo. After racking up over 80 million streams, the two announced that pop singer-songwriter Julia Michaels would be joining them for a remix and music video.

The country-dance track, originally sung solely by Wallen, remains pretty similar: his vocal performance is intense and soul-crushing; he’s heartbroken that the girl he likes is stringing him along, all while still being catchy.

The remix opens with Wallen singing the words “heartless” as an introduction, and then Michaels opens the first verse. Her soulful, songwriter’s voice glides through the verse and into the chorus where she is joined by Wallen for some crisp harmonies. Wallen sings the rest of the song with Michaels on some backup harmonies, and their voices sound great together, especially on the last chorus.

It’s exciting to see this song take off and to see Wallen gain new fans all around the world. Wallen is currently on his headlining ‘Whiskey Glasses Roadshow’ tour, playing shows all around the country.

Morgan Wallen Kicks Off 2020 By Reminiscing in “This Bar”

Morgan Wallen This Bar

CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Morgan Wallen uses the New Year and his new song “This Bar” to reflect on his past. In this track, written by himself, Ernest K, Charlie Handsome, Jackson Morgan and his friend HARDY, Wallen sings about the good and bad times and the lessons this particular bar has taught him over the years.

His first memory of the bar was his 21st birthday when he got too drunk on whiskey sours and almost got into a fight, leading him to be escorted out by the bouncer. From this, he learned how to control himself. Another story he shared was when he saw his ex, with whom he initially met at this bar, walk inside with another guy. This taught him how to cope with the breakups and how to get through the ‘moving on’ process.

Making mistakes and making new friends / I was growing up and nothing made sense / Learning how to live with a broken heart / I found myself in this bar

“Wrote this song with my buddies about some moments and times in my life that have made me who I am today,” Wallen wrote in a tweet on New Year’s Eve. “Some good, some bad, but all of ’em I can look back on and grin a little. Hope it makes you do the same.” The photo attached was of him with four other friends at a bar in 2014.

The first show of Wallen’s headlining Whiskey Glasses Roadshow Tour, was last night in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Along with that, he is joining Jason Aldean on his We Back Tour starting January 30th in South Carolina.

Since the release of his debut album If I Know Me in 2018, Wallen has released a cover of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up” and featured on Diplo’s “Heartless” and two songs on HARDY’s Hixtape Vol. 1, “He Went to Jared” and “Turn You Down”. We might be in the midst of a big 2020 from Morgan Wallen.

To keep up with Wallen, follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Morgan Wallen Shines A Light on PTSD in New Short Film Feat. “Cover Me Up”

Singer-songwriter and CMA New Artist of the Year nominee, Morgan Wallen released a powerful short film promoting his cover of Jason Isbell’s “Cover Me Up” while also shining a light on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Watch below!

Isbell’s recording of “Cover Me Up” is about his struggle with sobriety and how the love he shared with his wife got him over his addiction. In this video, Wallen’s stunning vocals narrate over the story of how love triumphed PTSD. His struggle with this disorder is seen throughout the film, directed by Justin Clough and shot near Leiper’s Fork in Tennessee, as the former veteran gets easily agitated over minor grievances like the sound of a crying baby.

Towards the end of the film, we see that the main character is doing better. However, his fate gets tested when he receives a phone call about his friend and fellow veteran who was killed in the war. This happens while he is writing what we assume to be his wedding proposal speech, as an engagement ring was at his side. The girlfriend returns home to find her boyfriend on the floor injured in some way. In the next shot, she is seen crying on the stairs with emergency lights flashing in front of her.

The final scene shows the two safe and sound, swinging in their hammock at home. The camera zooms in to their interlocking fingers, displaying him wearing a medical bracelet and her wearing the engagement ring. A feel-good moment to end a very emotional film.

Wallen first covered Isbell’s enthralling “Cover Me Up” in late 2018. The video went viral, causing him to release a studio version in April. This track quickly became a fan favorite as it has since generated twenty million streams on Spotify.

Luke Comb’s Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour with the “Up Down” singer wraps up next month. After a short break, Wallen will return to the stage headlining his Whiskey Glasses Roadshow Tour, starting January 2nd in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On top of that, he is joining Jason Aldean on his We Back Tour starting January 30th in South Carolina.

HARDY Drops Two New Songs On His ‘Hixtape Volume 1’

HARDY HIXTAPE

Songwriter turned solo artist, HARDY has written many hit songs for artists in the industry, including Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, and Chris Lane. If you didn’t know his name then, you certainly do now! Between debuting his EP Where to Find Me, to releasing his first radio single “Rednecker,” and being named a VEVO DSCVR Artist to Watch, HARDY is proving that he is the real deal. Most recently(9/6), he released two songs, “Nothing Out Here” and “He Went to Jared” off his new project Hixtape Volume 1 set to be released on September 13th.

The new record appears to be full of collaborations with other country artists. The song art showcasing HARDY with shadowed outlines of other artists and a clear image of the singer being featured on the track only adds to that theory. This week, he released “Nothing Out Here” with Thomas Rhett and “He Went to Jared” with Morgan Wallen.

Although both songs are fun and upbeat, the first track focuses on the pride that HARDY has for his rural upbringing. The Mississippi native proudly sings about all the stereotypes put on people, who are from “the sticks.” It’s definitely an anthem for being unapologetically you and proudly representing where you come from. Rhett adds a surprising element to the already lyrical and sonically enticing tune. The two vocalists combine their sounds for a catchy new one that you will for sure add to your playlist.

“All you’re gonna find windin’ through the country / Is some middle-of-nowhere folks / Makin’ something outta nothin’ out here”

HARDY draws inspiration from his good-ole-boy roots yet again in his collaboration with Wallen, “He Went to Jared.” The two singers are best friends and spent this past year touring together on both FGL’s ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country’ Tour and Wallen’s own headlining tour, garnering a similar, yet supportive fanbase. Co-written together with Chase McGill, the song is a complete jam. The duo trade verses, singing about their own experiences losing their love to a clean-cut man. They make comparisons about the stark differences between themselves and the new man, adding that they “ain’t into girls into guys like that.”

“Thinkin’ about him there with a white horse and carriage / Nearly three karats, he went to Jared / I went to the bar / Yeah, I went to the bar.”

To learn more about HARDY and his blossoming music career, check out our exclusive interview with him, just before he played for New York country fans at Jones Beach back in July, alongside FGL, Dan + Shay, and Morgan Wallen.

To keep up with HARDY follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Nothing Out Here” and “He Went to Jared” are now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Morgan Wallen Joins Forces with Diplo in “Heartless”

Diplo, Morgan Wallen, Heartless

Big Loud Records recording artist, Morgan Wallen is taking the country world by storm with his music. Met with a positive reception for his debut record If I Know Me, the singer-songwriter has already garnered two consecutive number one hits with “Up Down” featuring Florida Georgia Line, and “Whiskey Glasses.” Wallen is teaming up with a superstar in the music industry yet again, collaborating with EDM DJ and producer, Diplo on their new song “Heartless.”

After just one listen, “Heartless” is a song that already feels like a smash hit. It has all the elements of a good song- a catchy beat, relatable lyrics, and a strong vocal delivery. Wallen crushes the vocals on the new jam, wishing the girl he likes would just decide what they were and stop leaving him heartbroken. The track defies genre rules and barriers, as Wallen’s voice blurs lines.

“But why you gotta be so heartless / I know you think it’s harmless / You’re tearing me apart / And girl the hardest part is / You’re so high on attention / Taking miles from inches / Leave me in the darkness / Never finished what we started / Girl why you gotta be so heartless”

This isn’t the first time a country artist has experimented with the softer side of EDM music. The boys of FGL combined their vocals with female artist, Bebe Rexha in their record-holding “Meant to Be,” which sat at the top of the charts for 50 consecutive weeks. Kelsea Ballerini also lent her voice to The Chainsmoker’s “This Feeling,” while Maren Morris showed off her talent in Zedd and Grey’s “The Middle.” We’re excited to see which artists engage in a cross-genre collaboration next. Check out other collaborations that happened in 2018 here and some of our favorite country collaborations here.

As for Wallen, he will continue his opening gig on Florida Georgia Line’s ‘Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour’ through September. In the latter half of the year, the superstar in the making will join the Grand Ole Opry’s newest inductee, Luke Combs on the second leg of his ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour.’ For tickets and more information head to morganwallen.com.

Florida Georgia Line Bring The Heat & An Incredible Line Up to Long Island, NY

The 95-degree weather did not stop Long Island’s country music fans from coming to Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on Saturday night to see the Can’t Say I Ain’t Country tour containing its star-studded lineup of HARDY, Canaan Smith, Morgan Wallen, Dan + Shay and headliners, Florida Georgia Line.

HARDY Florida Georgia Line Tour

HARDY was first up. His 15-minute set included songs such as “4X4”, “ALL SHE LEFT WAS ME” and his break-out hit, “REDNECKER”. HARDY also performed Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country”, a song which he wrote for Shelton with Devin Dawson and Jordan Schmidt. The song has been number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for the past two weeks.

Canaan Smith Florida Georgia Line Tour

Canaan Smith performed in between sets. The singer-songwriter released his first studio album Bronco in 2015 which featured “Love You Like That”; a track that hit number one on the Country Airplay chart and was certified platinum. He performed that one along with some of his new, unreleased music, including “Country Boy Things”, “Poor Decisions” and “Beer Drinking Weather”.

Morgan Wallen Florida Georgia Line Tour

Morgan Wallen, who came out wearing his signature cut-sleeve plaid shirt and rocking his long, flowing mullet, began his set with three up-beat, drinking songs in “Whatcha Know ‘Bout That”, “Happy Hour” and his number one, certified platinum smash hit “Up Down”. After performing his first single “The Way I Talk”, Wallen slowed it down and sang “Chasin’ You”, his next single to country radio. “Life ain’t always a party….sometimes life sucks a little bit, you know? I think music is supposed to get you through the partying and through the times that piss you off.” Wallen closed his set with “If I Know Me”, the title track off his debut album and then a crowd favorite “Whiskey Glasses”. Everyone in the audience was singing along to his most recent number one hit, which warmed up the fans for the next act, Dan + Shay.

Check out our interview with Morgan just before he hit the stage in the video below.

Dan + Shay performed seven songs from their self-titled third album in their eleven song set. The Grammy-winning duo began with four of them including “Alone Together”, “All To Myself”, “What Keeps You Up at Night” and “Make or Break”.  “We got the hottest day in New York at Jones Beach and we appreciate you coming out early” Dan Smyers admired the lively audience. “We saw you guys in the parking lot, getting s**t started. From the minute we walked on stage, left to right, front to back, all the way up in the bleachers…you’ve been on your feet. Jones Beach, thank you so much! We love you, we love you, we love you!”

The 2019 ACM and Billboard country duo of the year covered all three albums through the next four songs: “Nothing Like You” from 2014’s Where It All Began, “Keeping Score” from Dan + Shay and “From the Ground Up” and “How Not To” from 2016’s Obsessed.  Before “Speechless” a computerized voice instructed the fans to take out the flashlights on their phones for the next song. The crowd lit up Jones Beach as Smyers and Shay Mooney performed their award-winning ballad.

After “19 You + Me”, Smyers addressed the audience again, praising the energy they brought to the set. “The next three and a half minutes could be the loudest of the whole tour. Can we make it happen?” The duo performed their triple-platinum, Grammy award-winning, ACM Single and Song of the Year, “Tequila” to close the set and get the fans ready for the headliners, Florida Georgia Line.

Florida Georgia Line Tour

When the curtains came down the fans were exposed to the decorative stage put together by the FGL crew. The country duo of Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley were sitting on ATVs with a barn displayed on the screen behind them and an inflatable wood silo/water tower prop with “FGL” written on it; fitting the Can’t Say I Ain’t Country theme. Five of FGL’s first seven songs were from their new album, including “Colorado”, “Can’t Say I Ain’t Country”, “Y’all Boys”, “Speed of Love” and “Can’t Hide Red”. “Cruise and “Confession” were featured in between. Before “Speed of Love”, the silo was taken down to enlarge the screen, which showed highlights of NASCAR races.

Florida Georgia Line, along with The Independence Fund, has been presenting wounded warriors with specialized wheelchairs at each stop of the tour. Saturday night was no different as the duo brought veteran, Kevin Miller of the Army National Guard on the stage after performing “Dirt”. This influenced the crowd to begin a USA chant and instilled patriotism throughout the venue.

After “Anything Goes”, FGL brought Canaan Smith back out to help them sing “Get Your Shine On” from their debut album Here’s To the Good Times. Just like during “Speechless”, the crowd lit up the sky by shining their flashlights to the 2013 party anthem. Hubbard told the fans that people have complained to him about how all of Florida Georgia Line’s songs are about partying, drinking, tailgating, fishing, etc. His response was “Well, hell yeah. What do you want us to sing about? But then we look at those people and say ‘hold on, you must’ve not listened to the new album because you know we did make a baby-making song.’ You know it does work really, really well; twice for me. So be careful with this one, Jones Beach.” “Talk You Out Of It” was next on the setlist.

Hubbard took a seat near the piano to perform the 2017 Billboard top country song and lead single off their third album Dig Your Roots “H.O.L.Y.” Dan + Shay came back out on stage to sing this with FGL, which caused an uproar of the fans. Mooney’s stunning tenor voice mashed with Hubbard’s southern twang created a beautiful rendition of this award-winning love song. Catch a snippet of the collaboration by clicking here.

After “May We All”, Morgan Wallen came back out on stage to sing “Up Down” again, this time with FGL. The stage went dark for a while when lights descended down from atop the stage, resembling the final scene of the music video for “Simple”; the first of three encore songs the duo performed. Although a New York native, Bebe Rexha was not in attendance for this show so Hubbard asked the crowd if they could sing her part in the 2019 Billboard Top Country Song, “Meant To Be”. “We wanna sing a song that changed our lives and we need you guys to help us out; is that cool?” FGL performed a crowd favorite and four-time platinum, party song, “This Is How We Roll” to end a fun, electrifying night at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater. For exclusive videos from the show, head to our Instagram Story Highlights.

The Can’t Say I Ain’t Country tour will head south to Virginia and North Carolina next weekend. For those who live in upstate, NY, the tour will be stopping in Syracuse on August 15th and at Darien Lake on August 24th.

To keep up with Florida Georgia Line and the tour, follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
