Luke Bryan & His Wife Play Hilarious Pranks during the ’12 Days of Prankmas’

Each year, Luke Bryan’s wife, Carolina, sets up the funniest pranks during her ’12 Days of Prankmas’ and because of social media, fans can follow along. This year, their first victim was Luke’s mom, LeClaire. Watch as a ‘crazed’ fan ‘Trailer Trash Tammy’ tackles the superstar to the ground, his mother’s reaction is priceless.

Next up, Day 2 was scaring unsuspecting shoppers at Luke’s 32 Bridge where a mannequin magically comes to life wearing Luke Bryan gear.

Day 3 was the smelliest prank so far, until ‘smell-o-vision’ is created, we can only imagine what they could be getting a whiff of but by their reactions, it is nasty.

On Day 4, Luke mom, LeClaire got in on the prank war, keeping a straight face when asking her buddies where is the nearest ‘adult store’ because she was “bored”.

On Day 5, the Bryans pranked two of their NBA superstar friends, Jimmy Butler and Meyers Leonard as they are getting ready to enjoy a delicious meal together. Their pet turkey, Juanita makes a special guest appearance here.

Whether it’s pranking her family, friends or strangers, there is nothing that the Bryans won’t do for a good laugh. To watch the next 7 days unfold, follow Caroline Bryan on Instagram.

Mitchell Tenpenny & Seaforth Close out 2019 with Sold Out NYC Show

Mitchell Tenpenny New York City

Mitchell Tenpenny & Team at Webster Hall, NYC

Last night, New Yorkers filled up the room at Webster Hall in New York City for the final show on the rising artist, Mitchell Tenpenny’s ‘Anything She Says Tour’ featuring exciting new duo, Seaforth. The sold-out show was the perfect way to cap off an awesome season of country music concerts, as we head into the new year.

Check out our interview with Seaforth just before the show in the video above

One of our 2019 Artists to Watch, Seaforth were tasked with warming up the crowd. They exploded on to the stage, singing songs off their debut EP, including “Talk to Me,” “Good and Gone,” and “Taken Your Picture.” They even included an incredible cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams,” which showed off their vocal range, as well as, some unreleased tunes like “Colorblind.” In between songs, the duo entertained the audience with their humor, wit, and infectious personalities.

“We love Mitchell man. This is the first-ever U.S. tour that we’ve ever been on. We’ve become friends with Mitchell. Thank you guys for being here early,” the duo shared, just before joking, “Can you make some noise if you have no idea who we are?! We’re called Seaforth!” Of course, they went on to end their thirty-minute set with a crowd-pleasing sing-along to their debut single “Love That,” making sure to convert each and every person in that room a fan if they weren’t already!

Just before performing for his sold-out audience, Mitchell Tenpenny joined
NYCountry Swag for a special performance + interview. Check it out and the video above.

After a brief intermission, headliner, Mitchell Tenpenny took the stage, accompanied by his band, which includes his younger brother, Rafe. The show was definitely a departure from our 2017 Swag Session, where Times Square was the backdrop to his performance! Kicking things off right away, the singer immediately performed two catchy songs off his debut record, “Somebody Ain’t You” and “Goner.”

“This is so fucking awesome. Thank you for being here with us. This means the world. It’s our last night of the tour of this year. Thank you for selling this place out. This is so cool man, for real, this is really my dream, thanks to you guys. I’m so, so grateful for that,” Tenpenny expressed just before singing his old-school song, the clever “Mixed Drinks” followed by “Truck I Drove In High School.” Fans showed their appreciation for his talent by singing the lyrics back to him.

Tenpenny continued to keep fans on their toes, performing a mix of more songs off Telling All My Secrets like “I Get the Picture” and “Somebody’s Got Me” and unreleased songs that are slated to come out in 2020. He performed both “Can’t Go to Church Anymore” and a song he wrote with one of our favorites, HARDY called “To Us It Did.” According to the entertainer, the former is about “Growing up in a small town, where everyone goes to the same church. If you break up with someone, what’s the first thing you want to do?! You want to avoid seeing them at all costs. You go to the same church, well guys, where are you going to see them?!” Clearly, the song resonated with fans, who cheered when it ended.

Although the set was filled with highlights, there were two standout moments that were starkly different from one another. The first came when Tenpenny brought Seaforth back to the stage to sing their brand new single to country radio and tour namesake, “Anything She Says”. The performance was not only entertaining but hysterical, as the men through blow-up Judy dolls into the audience as they sang. “Anything She Says” is clearly a hit in the making!

NYCountry Swag’s Stephanie Wagner & Christina Bosch with Mitchell Tenpenny

The other standout was one of the most heartfelt moments of the night. The singer vulnerably shared his own life experiences with the audience. “We lost our daddy to cancer. That’s why I wrote this song. Cause our daddy never turned us away from any of the dreams we ever had. He let us pursue this crazy thing called music and y’all have given it a reality,” he explained, “I know my daddy’s watching down on us thanks to you guys, so thank you so much. I just want to dedicate this to anyone who’s lost anybody; I don’t care if it’s a family member, a friend, or someone you barely know. It affects everyone differently. Don’t let anyone tell you how to grieve.” Tenpenny went on to sing the poignant “Walk Like Him” with just his brother sharing the stage with him.

Mitchell Tenpenny’s “Bitches” with a little help from NYC

The singer-songwriter wrapped up his show with the infectious, “Alcohol You Later”, his debut number one single “Drunk Me”, and the crowd-favorite “Bitches”, leaving fans in Manhattan in awe of the incredible night of music that they were just a part of. As fans of Tenpenny for such a long time, it was outstanding to see the sold-out New York City fanbase not only singing along to his major hits, but to every lyric of every album cut, including songs that were released prior to his album. We look forward to watching big things continue to happen for one of our day one artists.

NYCS Swag Spotlight: Elizabeth Lyons

Elizabeth Lyons

This week our Swag Spotlight shines on a one woman show, Elizabeth Lyons. She is a fiercely talented singer-songwriter with an eye for business and a caring heart, who shared everything with us from her childhood to how she got where she is now and everything in between.

Lyons is a Midwestern girl who has had music in her soul since she was a kid. “Since a young age, I’ve always loved music. I basically learned my letters, so that I could learn to play piano,” she tells us, adding, “I joined church choir […]. I auditioned for musical theatre until I made the music theatre production and I ended up being in 18 musicals. So I always performed.”

Fresh out of high school, the songstress embarked on a new journey south to Nashville, Tennessee, where she simultaneously was a student at Vanderbilt University and an intern at a music publishing company. For her, everything shifted, when she saw Florida Georgia Line’s song “Cruise” take off, despite the fact that they were newcomers on the music scene.

“[They] inspired me to use word of mouth marketing to do what I needed to do to follow my dreams because I wasn’t super confident when I moved down to Nashville, being an artist.” By the time she reached her senior year of college, Lyons released her debut EP, which garnered accolades on iTunes. The singer credits both Florida Georgie Line and Taylor Swift as two artists, who inspired her on her path. “I attribute Taylor for helping me move down to Nashville and Florida Georgia Line for making me pursue my dream.” Of course, Lyons shared that she also loves artists like the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and the Spice Girls.

Clearly inspired by many powerful women in the industry, Lyons shared her own philosophy on life with us, calling “patience, perseverance, and persistence” her mantra for getting things done each and every day and her reminder to work towards her goals. She recently was invited to sing the National Anthem at Yankee Stadium, which she shares, was on her to-do-list for three years! Lyons encourages others to write and manifest their own dreams and goals too.

“In terms of women in country, over the years, there have been times when women dominated and when men dominated, it would be nice if we all just dominated together,” she reflected, “But I think there are a lot of great up and coming artists […]. There are so many independent artists that are just killing it.”

As an independent artist herself, Lyons is also finding success in country music, especially in regards to the festival circuit. She has opened up for artists like Sam Hunt and Luke Bryan and played her own music at many festivals across the United States. Most recently, she released an inspiring song called “Epiphany” and shared the writing process with us.

“Epiphany is so personal, I really feel like it’s a tale that many people can relate to today in today’s world about how social media and our society influences us to compare ourselves to others and change accordingly,” she tells us, explaining, “I really wanted to write and I just needed this song for myself really and I thought that maybe because I needed it that other people may need it. In all of my music, I try to put a ray of sunshine or a piece of hope in it, so I really did want to make it a bright anthem about being true to yourself.” The song is a beautiful tribute to Lyons as an artist, as well as, to how relatable she is to her fanbase.

Going forward into 2020, the songstress promises to release more thought-provoking music, including a song called “24,” which is slated to be released in mid-January. Of course, Lyons will continue to play shows in the new year too. It will be exciting to see how more and more fans gravitate towards her music and how her career continues to blossom.

To keep up with Elizabeth Lyons follow her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

“Epiphany” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Dylan Scott Performs at Intimate Event at DREAM Hotel in NYC

Dylan Scott NYC

On a grey blustery New York City day, country music might not be your first choice to set the mood, but when we heard Dylan Scott was playing an acoustic set for a few fans at the DREAM Hotel, it quickly became the ideal way to spend a Saturday.

CURB Records put on this event, for Scotts’s last show of 2019 before heading home to Louisiana for his son’s birthday party. Playing for a crowd of only 20 people changes the dynamics of the space, and seems to put everyone at ease and enjoy the camaraderie and experience of something intimate.

The singer-songwriter started off right away with a song and a story about how Morgan Evans, married to Kelsea Ballerini, wrote a song in response to her song, “Peter Pan” called “Hooked”, but never recorded it and let him record it. An acoustic set has its own innate beauty and sound, but it was only further emphasized by Dylan’s raw and deep voice. Never having any voice lessons, he grew up on his dad’s lap, while his dad played guitar singing Confederate Railroad’s “Trashy Women”, perfect for a 3-year old. It’s unbelievable that that kind of voice can come without training, but just hard work and passion for music. He played a new song, “Killin’ Some Time”, that stays in his wheelhouse but is wrought with true emotion that just emanates from it. His inspiration came from Keith Whitley, and that somehow he always knew he wanted to do this and is so grateful that the fans make it possible.

Dylan Scott NYC

He played “Anniversary”, with a bridge of Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like”, that fit so well and shows how he can so easily manage the crossover between country and pop. He followed with a new song, “Lay Down With You” and finished with the one that made it all possible, “My Girl”. Unfortunately, he didn’t play any Christmas songs off his new album, but we quickly added the record to our Country Christmas playlist.

Always a fan of Dylan Scott, we have even more respect and love for him, as he continues to put his family first, but still maintains music in his heart that he’s trying to spread with his fans.

Pop Star Gavin DeGraw and Chris Young Perform on CMT Crossroads

Grammy-nominated pop-star and New York native, Gavin DeGraw joined Chris Young on Friday night’s episode of CMT Crossroads. You can watch the full episode here:

The show began with the two artists on stage singing Young’s “Raised on Country”. The superstars were alternating lines, having a lot of fun with this top-5 song. DeGraw and Young spoke after the performance, sharing how both their grandfathers were musicians, vastly influenced by country music. DeGraw’s grandfather spoke highly of Nashville and its impact on rising musicians.

They then performed DeGraw’s “Sweeter”. Instead of alternating lines, they utilized their different vocal ranges to create stunning harmonies. Young knows his limits with his baritone voice, letting DeGraw take the lead on the chorus. Young’s number one song “I’m Coming Over” and DeGraw’s “Soldier” were next. After watching these performances, it’s like these two songs were made for collaborations; everything sounded so perfect. As DeGraw was stationed on the piano, Young got the audience involved, getting everyone to wave their arms back and forth at the end of “Soldier”.

“Sometimes you’re held accountable for whatever the material is; you’re a bit apprehensive of ‘how far can I push the envelope with lyrical content?’”, DeGraw said about “Soldier”. “That’s the fear as an artist, ‘am I going to alienate the listener of the one song with the other song I just put out because they don’t like the content?”

They changed gears on the next song; covering Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed”. Young handled backing vocals as DeGraw and his tenor voice were more suited for the lead on this performance. An extended guitar solo created a powerful ending to the 1970 hit song. The song Young was most excited to perform, “I Don’t Wanna Be” was next. The crowd was very into this one and DeGraw let his stage mate take the lead on the chorus.

The mood quickly changed however, as the two singer-songwriters went acoustic to perform Young’s current single, “Drowning”. Young wrote “Drowning” about a friend of his who passed away unexpectedly. He said he needed this song to help him get through that difficult time in his life. “When you’re writing songs, you’re writing them from a therapeutic place for yourself…and then there you are on stage performing this moment in front of everybody and it’s sometimes really is just hard to hold it together.”DeGraw sang the first verse on Young’s “Hangin’ On” as Young strummed his guitar. The show ended with DeGraw’s number one song, “Not Over You”.

The venue was packed with fans all eager to hear these two powerhouse vocalists perform and complement each other’s biggest hits. CMT Crossroads is always an incredible night of duets, allowing fans from different genres to come together and appreciate songs they may not have heard before.

There aren’t a ton of tour dates scheduled for either artist currently but stay tuned with their socials for more information:

Lacy Cavalier Bares Raw Emotion on “This Ain’t Love”

Lacy Cavalier This Ain't Love

One of our favorite independent rising artists, Lacy Cavalier is the complete full package. Between her powerhouse vocals, sassy personality, and heartfelt songwriting, she can truly do no wrong. Proving that she is all about her fans, the songstress finally released a recorded version of her heartbreaking ballad “This Ain’t Love” with a music video featuring her fans lip-synching the touching lyrics.

The song’s central theme is about realizing that you deserve more and that sometimes your relationship is not what you thought it was. Cavalier has a way of creating deeply personal music that resonates with listeners’ own experiences, showcasing exactly why she has such a supportive fan base behind her. She has a knack for putting words to even the deepest feelings and for truly creating musical poetry.

“I turned all of my picture frames face down so I don’t see you around the house / But the minute I walk out the door / The ghost of what we were before surrounds this damn town”

In preparation for her music video, Cavalier asked fans to enter a contest via her Instagram and a few lucky winners were randomly selected. Each participant got an advance listen of the song so that they were able to send the singer-songwriter back a video of them singing the track. In just a few short hours that the video has been live, fans have already flocked to their social media to support the sensational visuals and give credit to Cavelier’s authenticity and talent.

Adam Doleac Releases Sultry Track “Neon Fools”

Neon Fools

One of our 2018 Artists to Watch and one of Arista Nashville’s newest signees, Adam Doleac is getting ready to send his single “Famous” to country radio in January but to hold fans over with some new music, he released “Neon Fools”, available everywhere today. Doleac wrote the track with Andy Skib and Thomas Finchum and the mid-tempo, sultry track is all about making bad decisions seem like they are the right ones.

“Neon Fools” commences with distinctive, beauteous fretwork imbricating a percussive medium. He inaugurates: “If I was smart I would walk out the back door. / I wouldn’t say, “I’ll buy you a drink” that you can’t afford”

“I think it’s safe to say that many of us have allowed the neon setting of a crowed club to fool us into getting involved in situations,” Doleac says in a press release. “And when folks hear this track, wherever it takes them, I hope they love it.”

Doleac welcomes the incandescence of the room to elude them to fall in love. When the lights are low and it’s just the two, and you know it isn’t going to be able to last once walking back out the front door, why not make the time last underneath the neon lights.

“Let’s let the neon fool us into thinking / Me and you ain’t gonna burn out / Give in to this thing and feel it / Underneath these lights right now / We know better than to leave here together / But, baby, what do we got to lose? / Let’s be neon fools and let that neon fool me and you tonight”

Doleac will be joining Ryan Hurd on select dates on the Platonic Tour as well as select dates with Mitchell Tenpenny. For full list of tour dates head to www.adamdoleac.com

To keep up with Adam Doleac follow him on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

Randy Houser Turns Webster Hall Into a Nashville Honky Tonk

Randy Houser

Singer-songwriter, Randy Houser visited Webster Hall in New York City Wednesday night wrapping up the fall leg of his Magnolia Tour, promoting his new album of the same name that came out in January. Joining him was special guest, Paul Cauthen.

Cauthen’s music style is a mix between Eric Church and Johnny Cash, dipping heavily into outlaw-country. He and his band all wore cowboy hats and dark shades, not cracking a smile the entire 45-minute set, fitting the outlaw persona. He performed many songs of his newest album 41, which came out in September including “Holy Ghost Fire”, “Prayed for Rain” and “Angel”. After grabbing a Coors Light and polishing it off in three seconds, the Texas-native covered Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues”, riling up the already boisterous crowd. The ceiling disco ball lit up the venue for his final song of the night, “Cocaine Country Dancing” which got everyone swaying along.

Not many artists open with ballads but Houser is unique and began his 90-minute set with the lead single off the new album, “What Whiskey Does”. Here, he displayed his powerful vocals, hitting every high and extended note. He quickly changed the mood of the show, covering Waylon Jennings’ “Good Hearted Woman” and his country music hero, Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again”. Houser told the audience later in the show that Nelson had just recorded one of his songs and decided that he would name his upcoming album after it. He said he wanted Webster Hall to turn into a Nashville honky-tonk for the night. He kept the energy going with his original songs “Boots On” and “My Kinda Country”.

Houser included a lot of songs from Magnolia into the setlist Wednesday night, which is a testament to his confidence in his new music. Most established artists stick to the hits because they know those are the songs that will receive the most positive reactions and keep the fans engaged. The audience showed their fandom as everyone in the crowd sang along to two deep cuts off the new album, “High Time” and his most vulnerable track to date, “No Good Place to Cry”

“I wrote this one a while ago, but I didn’t put it on any albums until this one because I wasn’t ready to sing it just yet. But after I turned 40 I didn’t give a s**t anymore,” the Mississippi-native explained, making light of the gloomy song. “But this was written at a terrible time in my life and I feel comfortable sharing it now.”

Randy Houser Miranda LambertThe New York City fans were in for a surprise with the next one as Grammy-winning, singer-songwriter, Miranda Lambert came out to sing Loretta Lynn’s part in Conway Twitty’s “After the Fire is Gone”. Lambert married NYC police officer, Brendan McLoughlin last year and since then the two split their residency between Nashville and The Big Apple.

The next two songs any country fan would recognize; two of Houser’s biggest hits “We Went” and “How Country Feels”. New York Country 94.7 radio host, Jesse Addy told the crowd before the show that “How Country Feels” was the first song they played when the station dedicated itself to country music. Both songs went number one on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.

After some pleading, Houser got Lambert to come back on stage to sing background on another new song “No Stone Unturned”, which he admitted was one of his favorite songs off Magnolia. Cauthen came out on stage as well to sing with Houser.

“I wrote this song about self-discovery…The biggest thing I learned about learning anything about yourself is that you don’t know s**t about yourself and you don’t learn anything about yourself if you’re looking.”

After performing “Mama Don’t Know” from the new album, Houser dedicated his ballad “Like a Cowboy” to the military and first responders, as it is a song about perseverance and trying to hold on to loved ones. “Nobody knows more about trying to hang on to a relationship when somebody is gone all the time. In that situation, you don’t know if they’re gonna come back and they don’t know either.” After this performance, it became clear that Houser has one of the best, most beautiful traditional country voices in the business.

For the encore, Houser and his band performed an extended jam-band version of the honky-tonk track “Whole Lotta Quit” off Magnolia. He ended the night with another number one song in “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight”.

Houser will go into 2020 performing multiple shows in Colorado, California and more! Head to his website for tickets.

Parmalee and Blanco Brown Duet on “Just The Way”

Blanco Brown Parmalee

Good friends Parmelee and Blanco Brown just released their song “Just The Way”, which they first performed on Sunday Night Football this week. It’s a song that is perfect for your weekend playlist, especially if you are having a bad day and need a confidence boost.

Written by Matt Thomas, Kevin Bard, and Nolan Sipe, “Just the Way” is an upbeat song that encourages accepting and loving people for just the way they are, including their imperfections. Living in a world of social media, many people feel the pressure of having to live a perfect life. Posting the ideal picture, showing off their perfect relationship. However, we all know that no matter how hard you may try, no one is perfect. This song is a reminder that it is okay to have flaws and

“I love you just the way God made you\ Girl, he don’t make mistakes\ What you call your imperfections\ I call beautiful babe\ So let my eyes be your mirror\ And you’re bound to see it too\’Cause I was made for loving you\ Just the way God made you”

Parmalee starts out the song with Brown coming in during the second verse. How they all come together during the chorus and bridge really highlights how well their voices mesh.  We could listen to them sing together all day.

“Just the Way”  is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’  playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.
