Chris Stapleton Earns Number 1 Song with “You Should Probably Leave”

Chris Stapleton lands the number one song on the country music charts this week with “You Should Probably Leave.” Learn more below about the accomplishment below.

It is about time that superstar, Chris Stapleton starts getting the mainstream radio recognition that he deserves! It is hard to believe that with four number one albums, the singer-songwriter is still not a frequent name on the top of the radio charts. Today, Stapleton scores his third number-one single with “You Should Probably Leave.”

Stapleton’s previous singles “Broken Halos” and “Starting Over” also found their way to the top spot. As a promotional song, a crowd-favorite, “Tennessee Whiskey,” also went number one back in 2015. The newly crowned number one, “You Should Probably Leave,” is everything we have come to love from Stapleton and his genius artistry!

“There’s still time for you to finish your wine // Then you should probably leave // And it’s hard to resist, alright, just one kiss // Then you should probably leave // ‘Cause I know you and you know me // And we both know where this is gonna lead // You want me to say that I want you to stay // So you should probably leave // Yeah, you should probably leave”

Congrats to Stapleton and his team on a monumental feat! We are excited to see what song heads to country radio next.

Michael Ray’s “Whiskey And Rain” Goes Number One On Country Charts

Michael Ray’s single “Whiskey And Rain” officially reached number one on the country charts this week, marking his fourth number one song of his career. As Ray took to social media to thank his fans and team, the artist became emotional reflecting on the journey. Check out the tear-jerking response in the video below.

Michael Ray has dethroned Dustin Lynch and MacKenzie Porter’s five-week run at number one on the country charts with their song, “Thinking ‘Bout You.” As Ray’s “Whiskey And Rain” tops the charts, the artist lands his fourth number one song.

The 90s country-inspired song was a clear hit with fans, gradually climbing up the charts since it impacted radio in October of 2020. Written by Jesse Frasure and Josh Thompson, Ray recorded the song early on during the pandemic. He has shared in interviews that the song remains one of his most favorite songs to date.

“Yeah, whiskey and rain coming down, coming down // Splash of bourbon in a glass // Yeah, pouring something on the pain, let it drown, let it drown // Try to wash away the past, oh-oh-oh // Since my blue sky, sunshine, whole life  // Hopped on that midnight train // ‘Til the bottle runs out or the clouds roll away // It’s just whiskey and rain”

It will be interesting to see if Ray’s song, “Whiskey And Rain” continues to hold down the number one spot on the country charts next week. Until then, congrats to Ray and his team on a well-deserved feat!

“Rain Is A Good Thing”- Doin’ My Thing, 2010

“Rain Is A Good Thing” was written by Dallas Davison and Bryan. Perhaps one of his most staple songs, “Rain is a Good Thing” is classic Luke Bryan – combining the perfect amount of country roots and flirtation.

“Someone Else Calling You Baby”– Doin’ My Thing, 2010

“Someone Else Calling You Baby” marks the third and final No.1 to come from Bryan’s 2010 album, Doin’ My Thing. It was written by Jeff Stevens and Bryan. It’s a song about not being able to get over a recent break up and what makes it even worse is that the other person already has.

“Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” is the third and final No. 1 song to come off the Tailgates & Tanlines album. It was written by Jeff Stevens, Bryan and Shane McAnally. “Crash My Party” – Crash My Party, 2013

“Crash My Party” is the title track and first of six No.1 songs to come from Bryan’s 2013 album. It was written by Ashley Gorley and Rodney Clawson. It’s about the girl that’s always worth wrecking plans with the boys.

“That’s My Kind of Night”– Crash My Party, 2013

“Drink A Beer”- Crash My Party, 2013

“Drink A Beer” was written by Chris Stapleton and Jim Beavers. This is one of the most emotional songs out of Bryan’s catalog and the most personal to the artist. Even though he did not write the song, Bryan and his family relate strongly to the song due to some tragic losses that they’ve suffered. It’s a song about losing someone too soon and not being able to understand it. Instead of trying to, you just take a moment to drink a beer as you say goodbye to that special someone.

“Play it Again”– Crash My Party, 2013

“Play it Again” was written by Ashley Gorley and Dallas Davidson. It’s about the moments that can make a song go from just a song to ‘our song’ for two people and how they’ll always attach those memories to that song.

“Kick The Dust Up”- Kill The Lights, 2015

“Kick The Dust Up” was the first No. 1 off Kill The Lights – the second consecutive album of Bryan’s that would rack up six No. 1’s. The next album that would come close to this amount is Bryan’s current project: Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, which currently has five. “Kick the Dust Up” was written by Ashley Gorley, Chris DeStefano and Dallas Davidson. Going back to some themes from Tailgates and Tanlines, “Kick the Dust Up” it’s about turning a cornfield into a tailgate party with your friends at the end of a long week.

“Strip it Down”- Kill The Lights, 2015

“Strip it Down” was written by Jon Nite, Bryan, and Ross Copperman. Unlike many of Bryan’s tunes, this song strips things down both figuratively and literally as two people who have lost touch reconnect.

“Home Alone Tonight” (featuring Karen Fairchild)- Kill The Lights, 2015

“Home Alone Tonight” was written by Cole Taylor, Jaida Dreyer, Jody Stevens, and Tommy Cecil. A duet with Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, this song is about two people who went out that night to get over their ex and are going to help eachother do exactly that.

“Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day”- Kill The Lights, 2016

“Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” was written by Ben Hayslip, Dallas Davidson, Bryan and Rhett Akins. If Luke Bryan could put his entire brand into one song – this is it.

“Fast” is the sixth and final No. 1 from Kill The Lights. It was written by Bryan and Rodney Clawson. It’s a song of nostalgia and reflecting on how fast life and time flies by.

“Light it Up”- What Makes You Country, 2017

“Light it Up” is the first No. 1 off Bryan’s What Makes You Country album. It was written by Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi and Bryan. It’s quite the modern problem of waiting for someone to text you after a fight being completely at their mercy, just hoping that you’ll see their text pop up on your phone.

“Most People Are Good”- What Makes You Country, 2018

“Most People Are Good” was written by Frasier, Ed Hill, and Josh Kear. It’s a song about always being able to see the best in people and how some of the simplest things in life can also be the happiest.

“Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset”- What Makes You Country, 2018

“Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset” was written by Chase McGill, Ryan Hurd, and Zach Crowell. It’s about a summer love where life was as simple as sunrise, sunburn, sunset repeat, each and every day with that someone.

“What Makes You Country”- What Makes You Country, 2018

“What Makes You Country” is the title track and the third and final No. 1 from Bryan’s 2018 album. It was written by Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson and Bryan. This is a song about not needing to fit a mold of what is or isn’t country, since nobody is to say what it is that makes you country except you.

“Knockin Boots”- Born Here Live Here Die Here, 2019

“Knockin Boots” is the first No. 1 from Bryan’s most recent album – Born Here, Live Here, Die Here. It was written by Gordie Sampson, Hillary Lindsey, and Jon Nite. It’s about needing someone else in the same way that ice needs whiskey, long weeks need a weekend, and sing-alongs need to be sung.

“One Margarita” was written by Josh Thompson, Matt Dragstrem and Michael Carter. It’s about not worrying about anything else going on in life, just having a good time with the people you’re with, one margarita after another.

“Down to One”- Born Here Live Here Die Here, 2020

“Down to One” was written by Dallas Davidson, Justin Ebach, and Kyle Fisherman. It’s about spending the perfect night with someone and wanting one more minute, one more drink, one more song, one more night alone together.

“Waves”- Born Here Live Here Die Here, 2020

“Waves” is the fifth No. 1 off of Bryan’s most recent album and is his most recent chart topper, as of September 2021. It was written by Chase McGill, Ryan Hurd, and Zach Crowell. It’s about summer love and the stars aligning for a perfect night you hope will never end.

“Buy Dirt”- in collaboration with Jordan Davis

When Jordan Davis released “Buy Dirt” with Luke Bryan, it was clear that it was going to be an impressive song. Shortly after finding its way to country radio, “Buy Dirt” deservingly hit the top spot on the country charts.

Dustin Lynch’s “Thinking ‘Bout You” with MacKenzie Porter Goes #1

Back in March, Lynch released a new version of the song as a single featuring pop-country vocalist, Porter on the track with him. Zac Brown Band’s “Same Boat” Goes Number One

Zac Brown Band’s latest single, “Same Boat” officially goes number one on the country radio charts, marking their fourteenth hit song.

For over a decade, Zac Brown Band have been entertaining fans across generations. Hit songs like “Chicken Fried,” “Toes,” and “Homegrown” remain mainstays in their catalog and during their live shows. This week, ZBB earn another hit song with their single, “Same Boat.”

Penned by Zac Brown with Ben Simonetta and Jonathan Singleton, “Same Boat” is a true ZBB classic. We knew the song would become a hit from first listen. It truly is an undeniable instant jam. Upbeat and fun, “Same Boat” is simply about the human experience. We all have unique moments in our lives, but life, in general, is something we all go through. In a time where life can feel chaotic and people can feel at odds, ZBB reminds us all that we are all merely humans trying to make sense of life.

“We’re all in the same boat // Fishing in the same hole // Wondering where the same time goes // And money too // Tryna fix the same broke hearts // Wishing on the same stars // We’re all hoping hope floats // And we’re all in the same boat”

“More Than My Hometown”- Dangerous: The Double Album, 2020

Wallen’s lead single off his sophomore record Dangerous: The Double Album, “More Than My Hometown” went viral on TikTok. The single is a countrified tune. Written by Wallen with HARDY, Ernest, Keith Smith, and Ryan Vojtesak, the song is romantic, inviting, and bittersweet. He combines elements of both nostalgia and heartbreak while maintaining an undeniable charm and sense of self.

“Sand In My Boots”- Dangerous: The Double Album, 2022

After his return to country radio, Morgan Wallen’s “Sand In My Boots”, from Dangerous: The Double Album, quickly climbed to the number one spot. An instant hit with fans, Wallen used the song to open his 2022 headlining tour with the piano-driven track. “Sand In My Boots” is a slow groove that puts Wallen’s authentic vocals on full display. The song is sure to be the first of many number one hits to come after Wallen’s return to radio.

“Wasted On You”- Dangerous: The Double Album, 2022

Shortly after his return to country music radio, Wallen’s song “Wasted On You” charted. The song is a quintessential Wallen song, featuring all the components: pulling on our heartstrings, making us feel heard, and as catchy as ever.

“You Proof”- One Thing At A Time, 2022

A while back, Wallen posted an audio clip of a song on his social media. The song became “You Proof.” While it’s just a promotional single and not (yet) a part of any major project, “You Proof” became an instant hit with fans. So much so, that it has been sitting pretty at the top of the country music charts for four weeks and counting (as of 11/4/22).

“Thought You Should Know”- One Thing At A Time, 2023

At the top of 2023, one of Wallen’s most personal songs to date, “Thought You Should Know” landed at the top of the country radio charts. The single is a lyrically-gifted song that focuses on a conversation that Wallen is having with his mother over his success and his failures throughout his career.

“Last Night”- One Thing At A Time, 2023

Marking his fastest rising number one single at country radio to date, “Last Night” is certainly a fan-favorite. Wallen is at his absolute best on this song. While the lyrics are on the cheeky side, the song has clearly resonated with all country music fans and country radio alike.

“Thinkin’ Bout Me”- One Thing At A Time, 2023

A fan-favorite song from Wallen’s latest album, “Thinkin’ Bout Me,” conveys the story about having a spark with someone. The song is one of the standout tracks from Wallen’s impressive project that is already proving to be full of hits.

“Man Made A Bar” ft. Eric Church – One Thing At A Time, 2024

“Man Made A Bar” marks an iconic pairing in country music. Wallen has been outspoken about his love for Eric Church, so watching these two become friends and create music together has been a real treat. The song is the perfect combination of both of their talents, and it is obvious why it went to the top of the country radio charts.

“I Had Some Help” with Post Malone – 2o24

Morgan Wallen earned his twelfth number one at country radio with his mega-hit, “I Had Some Help.” Wallen was featured on the Post Malone song, which many called the song of the summer. The track was a surefire number one.

“Cowgirls” ft. Ernest – 2024

Another iconic collaboration, “Cowgirls” with Ernest earned Wallen his thirteenth number one single at country radio. The song was a fan-favorite from the beginning, showcasing the best sides of Wallen and Ernest.

“Lies Lies Lies” – 2024

What felt like one of the quickest rises to number one, “Lies Lies Lies” officially marks Wallen’s 14th number one single at country radio. The infectious and captivating single feels like a new era of music for the superstar.

*SPECIAL MENTION:

“7 Summers”- Dangerous: The Double Album, 2020

Another popular Wallen song, “7 Summers” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, however, after Wallen’s racial slur scandal, the song was dropped from country radio. The popular track otherwise had the potential to hit number one on the Country Airplay charts as well. Despite that, the song remains a fan-favorite, and for good reason.
