Morgan Wallen Scores 8th Number One with “Thought You Should Know”

Morgan Wallen continues his streak of number ones with his 8th song to top the country charts, “Thought You Should Know.”

Morgan Wallen is officially back on the top of the country charts once again! With a world tour and a new record featuring 36 songs to look forward to, Wallen is showing no signs of slowing down. His stardom continues to rise. Today his touching song, “Thought You Should Know” marks his 8th number-one single at country radio.

Wallen shared clips of “Thought You Should Know” two years ago, as a gift to his mother on Mother’s Day. While 2021 was a tumultuous year for the singer-songwriter, he remained true to his artistry through his songwriting and connection to his fans. The single written by Wallen with Nicolle Galyon and Miranda Lambert is one of his rawest ones to date.

“I thought you should know // That all those prayers you thought you wasted on me // Must’ve finally made their way on through // I thought you should know // I got me a new girl down there in Jefferson City, and // She lets me fish whenever I want to // Yeah, I’m still proud of where I came from // Still your only damn son // Can you believe I’m on the radio? // Just thought you should know, thought you should know, thought you should know”

There is truly no stopping Wallen! His career continues to catapult him to superstardom. It is just a matter of time before he wins entertainer of the year at one of the coveted country music award shows. Ernest: ‘Flower Shops (The Album): Two Dozen Roses’ – Album Review

Ernest’s full-length deluxe album, Flower Shops (The Album): Two Dozen Roses is out now, February 10th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new album below.

Ernest K. Smith, known professionally as ERNEST, has been churning out hits for the biggest stars in country music over the past five years, including Florida Georgia Line, Kane Brown, Chris Lane, Sam Hunt, Morgan Wallen, and many others. Last year, he released his sophomore record, FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM), an eleven-track project named after the RIAA platinum hit with friend and frequent collaborator, Morgan Wallen. While still in the songwriting business, fans loved what they heard from ERNEST on a personal note, encouraging the Nashville-native to release an additional thirteen tracks on a deluxe version titled FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses.

“I can’t wait for everyone to hear the new music,” ERNEST shared in a recent press release. “It’s even more of the real, honest storytelling that the album was built on, and continues the character’s love story right where it left off with ‘Some Other Bar.’ It’s very reflective, I think everyone will be able to relate to a part of the story in some way. I’m really proud of it!”

On December 16, ERNEST teased the sound and theme of the record with three new songs, “Miss That Girl, “Songs We Used To Sing,” and “Unhang The Moon.” In “Miss That Girl,” the singer shares in conspicuously catchy lyricism how hard it is to move on and admit how much you miss someone. “Songs We Used To Sing” leans into the nostalgia of it all—the breakup ruined all his favorite tunes because he thinks of her when he hears them. Finally, “Unhang The Moon” is the ultimate heartbreak song in which he confesses all his regrets regarding the relationship. The three songs all tell a similar story, as Ernest seems to access more and more emotions with his vocals.

As for the new tracks, “Done At A Bar,” “What Have I Got To Lose,” “Heartache In My 100 Proof,” and “Burn Out,” also touch on heartbreak. The former is a play on the phrase ‘easier said than done.’  The singer admits that it is easy to say things that will fix a relationship when intoxicated at a bar, but when the morning comes, the sweet nothings uttered from the night before fizzle, becoming drunken lies and failed promises. The latter, however, touches on a love that moved too fast. Although it may seem like the real thing at first, all flames eventually die out, and that’s exactly what happened to the singer in this track. 

“Knew it when we started off of both ends // Girl we should’ve seen where this was going // ‘Couple flames just fighting back against a cold wind // Throttles wide open, eyes closed keeping them fire stones smokin’ ‘til we burn out”

On the flip side of heartbreak, love is another major theme on the record. In “Wild Wild West” the singer boasts about how he loves how unpredictable his woman is. “Hill” is another one in which the singer imagines the perfect life he is going to share with the person he loves.

“Drunk With My Friends,” “Anything But Sober,” and “This Fire,” touch on ERNEST’s fun and lighter side. The former is a happy, bar anthem with a tropical theme that has the singer explaining to his woman the reasoning behind his bad decisions. The most amusing part of the track is ERNEST’s use of cartoon voices; the Charlie Brown trombone noise symbolizes the singer’s woman nagging him, and he subtly sneaks in the narrator’s voice from Spongebob before the second verse to say “three days later” before his next inebriated mishap. In the last chorus, he tells her to go get margaritas with her friends to ease the stress. The next two resemble the 90s era of country that so many artists are attempting to replicate these days—ERNEST does a perfect job of recreating the sound with a hint of modernism. In the latter, the singer uses whiskey to put out the fire he has created in the real world.

ERNEST continues to showcase his prowess as a songwriter and a vocalist with FLOWER SHOPS (THE ALBUM): Two Dozen Roses. With thirteen unique tracks, the talented rising star demonstrates how being versatile can make one overarching theme so fascinating and thought-provoking. We are excited to see his career take off, and this album will be the launching pad of something very special.

After announcing his first-ever arena tour, Morgan Wallen is readying fans for album number three, One Thing A Time. The massive 36-song project is slated to be released on March 3rd. To mark the momentous occasion, Wallen is sharing three new songs for all fans who preorder the record. Amongst the three new songs are, “Last Night,” “Everything I Love,” and “I Wrote the Book.”

Each of the three new songs showcase a different side of Wallen’s personality and artistry. “Last Night,” one of the few outside cuts on the record paints the story of fighting with your partner while drinking. Despite the concept, the song comes across as confident and sexy, while the tempo begs for fans to sing along.

“Everything I Love” is the most true-blue country of the three new songs. The relatable track is about everything you love and every place that is yours being tainted by an ex who no longer loves you. While the story might be melancholy, the banjos and the instrumentals make for a fun, bluesy song.

Finally, “I Wrote The Book,” written by Wallen with HARDY and Cameron Montgomery, is quite possibly the most Wallen song of the releases. The singer teased the track earlier this month, which led to fans begging for its release. “I Wrote The Book” is a honest depiction of a man just trying to walk a straight line, despite temptation. Something tells us that Wallen wrote this one from experience.

Wallen shared about the record in a recent press release.“This record represents the last few years of my life, the highs and the lows. It also brings together the musical influences that have shaped me as an artist – country, alternative and hip-hop,” shared the singer.

“There are 36 songs on this album because we just kept exploring with fresh lyrics, music, and production ideas and these are the songs that felt right to me. It was a blast to create, and I was so grateful to be back in the studio to lay this out for my fans. I just try to tell it how it is – the good, the bad, the love, the heartbreak. That’s all I know how to do.”

Wallen finishes his statement with the sentiment, “My hope is that this album makes my fans proud; makes ‘em laugh, smirk, cry, and think – just like it did for me.”

Fans can expect the project to be full of A-list writers and collaborators. Artists and songwriters like HARDY, Devin Dawson, Ernest, and Travis Denning all have cuts on the record. Wallen also features HARDY, Ernest, and Eric Church on respective songs.

After having a monumental year touring and sharing new music with fans, Morgan Wallen is showing no signs of slowing down. Earlier today, the superstar announced his first ever world tour. Now, he is sharing three brand new songs with fans, calling it a sampler for what is to come with album number three.

Wallen’s new songs are “One Thing At A Time,” “Days That End in Why,” and a previously unreleased fan-favorite, “Tennessee Fan.” All three songs gives fans a little taste of Wallen’s artistry and of course, what is in store in the next chapter of new music.

According to the singer-songwriter, “I’ve had so many people ask me if I want to take some time off, but the truth is – I have been writing and making too much music in my off-time because I feel as inspired as I ever have. It feels like new songs re pouring out of me, and I love that feeling. We are going to run it back next year with the One Night At A Time World Tour.”

“One Thing At A Time” is a mid-tempo song all about trying your best to get over someone, while “Days That End in Why” is a pensive song that touches on Wallen’s more tender side. Then, “Tennessee Fan” is a song that feels nostalgic and reminiscent of young love. The three songs are the perfect additions to Wallen’s already impressive catalog of music.

Back in May, Hubbard emerged with his debut song, “5 Foot 9.” In just a few short months, the track became a hit on country radio. Today the song marks Hubbard’s first solo number-one single at country radio.

The debut single was the perfect re-introduction to the singer-songwriter and his incredible talent. “5 Foot 9” is a love song dedicated to Hubbard’s wife. Written by Hubbard with The Cadillac Three leader Jaren Johnston and Chase McGill, “5 Foot 9” signifies the singer’s staying power in country music, no matter what the role.

“Dry wood makes good fires // Goodyears make good swings // All that’s all good but for me // God makes five foot nine, brown eyes, and a sundress // Loves Tim McGraw and a small town accent // Ain’t no way that me and this truck made her fall in love // Jack makes good whiskey but God makes the good stuff // Oh, God makes the good stuff”

It will be exciting to see how this new chapter in Hubbard’s life continues to evolve. Fans can expect his full-length solo album debut in January 2023. Congratulations to Tyler Hubbard and his team on their first number-one single with “5 Foot 9.”

The 56th Annual CMA Awards took place last night (November 9th), returning to the iconic Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, this show was all about uniting fans and country artists with our favorite music genre and honoring the greats that paved the way. The show began with a medley of hits, celebrating the late, great Loretta Lynn. Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Reba McEntire took to the stage delivering an incredible performance of Lynn’s classics like, “You’re Looking at Country” and “Coal Miner’s Daughter.” Carly Pearce also honored Lynn with her incredible song, “Dear Miss Loretta,” later in the show.

Shortly after, the CMA’s hosted another incredible female-led performance of Ashley McBryde’s killer album Lindeville. Artists like John Osborne, Brandy Clark, Caylee Hammack, and Pillbox Patti joined her on stage.

With a quick introduction, first-time CMA awards winner for Video of the Year, Cody Johnson graced the stage next, singing an electric rendition of his hit song, “‘Til You Can’t.” Similarly, Cole Swindell took to the stage to sing his latest number-one hit, “She Had Me At Heads Carolina.” Of course, he brought out Jo Dee Messina to sing with him. Lambert also returned to sing her new song, “Geraldene” and Underwood with, “Hate My Heart.”

The star-studded event continued with a killer performance from Luke Combs. The Entertainer of the Year nominee blew fans away, singing his song, “The Kind of Love We Make.” The other Luke, Luke Bryan also performed his current single, “Country On” later on in the show. The night continued with performances by Zac Brown Band, who sang their song “Out In The Middle” and an exciting duet by Thomas Rhett and Katy Perry. The latter duo sang their new song, “Where We Started,” a country-pop medley, begging for radio play.

However, HARDY and Lainey Wilson may have given arguably one of the best performances of the night with their song “wait in the truck.” The eerie ballad came to life, as the two New Artist of the Year nominees sang their hearts out, receiving a huge applause and standing ovation from the audience. Next up, Morgan Wallen, an Entertainer of the Year nominee, also showed up to perform his hit song, “You Proof.”

The CMA Awards continued to showcase collaborations throughout the night. Kelly Clarkson and Carly Pearce joined Kelsea Ballerini on stage to sing “YOU’RE DRUNK, GO HOME.” The threesome brought their sassy energy and huge vocal chops to the country music stage.

Another highlight of the night is when Chris and Morgane Stapleton took the stage with none other than the iconic, Patty Loveless. An incredibly harrowing performance, the collaborators sang Loveless’ “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive,” getting each and every artist on their feet celebrating the performance with them.

Country music artists continued to celebrate the icons that came before them both in and out of the genre. Brothers Osborne took the stage with The War and Treaty to celebrate the forthcoming tribute album, Stoned Cold Country for The Rolling Stones, coming in 2023, while Elle King joined by The Black Keys and celebrated the late hall of fame, Jerry Lee Lewis.

Of course, the night would not be complete without the monumental tribute to Alan Jackson, who was the newest recipient of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. Carrie Underwood strutted onto the stage to announce the icon, even singing a little something. Dierks Bentley, Jon Pardi, and Lainey Wilson shared the stage to celebrate Jackson’s career. They sang songs like, “Chattahoochee,” “Drive (For Daddy Gene),” and “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.” Jackson, himself also sang his song, “Don’t Rock The Jukebox.”

Overall the 56th CMA Awards were a great night for country music. The show came back to its roots, mixing the new country music sounds with more traditional country, proving that we can all love the genre together.
