Georgia Webster: ‘SIGNS’ – EP Review

Georgia Webster shares brand new EP, SIGNS, out now, May 31st, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new project below.

Every now and then there is an artist that speaks to the universal feelings that young girls and women go through. Artists like Taylor Swift and Stevie Nicks transcend generations for that reason. Georgia Webster is an artist that fits into that category with her relatable songwriter and honest lyrics. Much like old-school T-Swift, Webster has a knack for singing about her personal experiences, while giving fans something to relate to. Her newest EP, SIGNS features eight tracks that proves that Webster’s stardom has no limits.

“My third EP, SIGNS, is the best music I’ve made to date and I’m so excited for it to finally be out in the world,” shared the singer in a recent press release. “King Henry is one of my dream producers so being able to collaborate with him on the whole project was such a surreal experience—and I think we really created something special. These songs are straight from the heart!!”

Webster’s signature country-pop sound is on full display through all eight tracks on the project. The record kicks off with two mid-tempo, honest songs called, “Attention” and “Delusional.” Both speak to the complicated feelings of not feeling good enough in a relationship.

Webster continues to lament about a situation-ship in her viral song, “This Ain’t A Breakup.” While arguably all of the songstress’ music reads like a journal-entry, “This Ain’t A Breakup” feels straight ripped from the pages of the singer’s diary. The heartbreaking song depicts how it feels to be heartbroken, even though it was not a full-blown relationship. On track 8, Webster gives new life to the song, collaborating with Nightly to add new dynamics (and lyrics) to the already stellar song.

“‘Cause this ain’t a breakup and we never dated // No this ain’t a breakup, heard that you’re sayin’ // We wouldn’t have lasted, I’m overreactin’ // So why am I askin’? // If this ain’t a breakup and we never made love // Then why is your body on mine on my mind when I wake up? // If this ain’t a breakup, then why ain’t I coping? // If this ain’t a breakup, then why am I broken?”

While Webster is clearly gifted at opening up about heartbreak, she also has a confident vibe about her. Both her sons, “Jupiter” and “Town Talks” showcase that signature sass, while still keeping the honesty.

“I don’t gotta talk // I don’t gotta talk // I don’t gotta talk about you // ‘Cause you’ve already lost // I don’t gotta gossip when you leave the room // Woah Nashville will hurt you more than I will // You know it’s true that // I don’t gotta talk // I don’t gotta talk // Baby ’cause this town talks so I don’t have to”

“Wedding Song” is one of the standout tracks on the record. Heartbreaking and haunting, the song talks about all the what could have beens about a relationship that did not make it to the altar. Throughout the song, Webster candidly shares that she would have done anything to make this broken relationship work.

SIGNS is truly Webster’s best work to date. Each of the eight tracks display a new-found maturity in her music, while still keeping the signature honesty that fans have come to love from the songstress.

Georgia Webster: ‘Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying’ – EP Review

Georgia Webster’s EP, Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying, is out now, September 23rd on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new project below and check out our full review.

Georgia Webster is pure honesty and talent. Her debut EP, First Goodbye was full of songs she wrote by herself during high school. Today, she is displaying a more mature side of herself with songs she co-wrote in Nashville. Her EP, Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying” is officially here.

Keeping with the thread of honesty and personal touches, each of the six songs on the EP still feels ripped straight from Webster’s diary. According to the songstress, “These were some of my first co-writes ever and I’m honored to have gotten to work with Josh Kerr and everyone else on the project!” Webster also expressed excitement over being invited to tour with Kelsea Ballerini on her intimate, ‘HEARTFIRST Tour.’ “I also can’t believe that I get to tour with one of my favorite artists in country music. To be able to tour with and learn from Kelsea is a dream come true.”

We are sure fans will be excited to hear these songs on the upcoming tour. Beginning with the recently released 1-2 punch, “I Hate Phone Calls (Long Distance Sucks)” and “Risk,” Webster puts her feelings out there. On the former, the singer-songwriter expresses how hard long-distance  relationships truly are. On, “Risk” featuring Jonathan Hutcherson, Webster’s vocals (and feelings) are on full display. One of our favorites on the project, the song portrays how it feels to end a relationship without any resentment.

“I guess it’s the risk that you take // That your heart’s gonna break when it’s over // And lately I’ve been wondering // If the hurt was with getting to know ya // For all of our good times // I’m spending my nights // Crying alone in my bedroom // I guess it’s the risk that you take // When you love someone like I loved you”

On the contrary, on “X’s,” Webster shares how it feels to be heartbroken. The all-to-relatable tune went viral on TikTok for its likability and catchy hook. The singer cleverly weaves the song lyrics to mean different things, referring to both exes and x’s on her hands. It makes for an enticing and fun song; despite, the melancholy lyric. Another one of our favorites, “John Mayer Songs” showcases clever wordplay too. The singer drops John Mayer song titles throughout the expressive new song.

Webster continues to convey her truth through the last two songs on the record, “Not Sayin'” and “Tattoos.” On “Not Sayin,'” the singer explores the beginnings of a possible relationship. Finally, on “Tattoos,” Webster returns home to her quiet, diary-like nature of her major-label debut. Another standout, “Tattoos” is all about her first love and first heartache.

“You were my // first kiss, first love, first drink, first drunk // first pick-up truck where I said that I loved you // First on my skin, where I almost did // Thank god I never went with you // Thank god we never got tattoos // Thank god we never got tattoos”

With her new EP, Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying, Webster secures her spot as this generation’s relatable queen. Much like Taylor Swift’s hold on millennials, Webster has the ability to do the same thing with her honest and relatable lyrics. This EP is only just the beginning for the future superstar.

Georgia Webster – Chapter 1: Things We’re Not Saying EP Tracklist:

  1. I Hate Phone Calls (Long Distance Sucks)
  2. Risk feat. Jonathan Hutcherson
  3. X’s
  4. John Mayer Songs
  5. Not Sayin’
  6. Tattoos

Georgia Webster Drops Two Brand New Songs Including a Collab

Georgia Webster’s new songs ”I Hate Phone Calls (Long Distance Sucks)” & “Risk” ft Jonathan Hutcherson are out now, August 26th, on all streaming platforms. Read below as we dig into the new music.

Georgia Webster popped up on to the country music scene during the peek of Covid and the height of music discovery on TikTok with her clever breakup song “Tell Your Mom”. Since then, she’s signed a record deal, released her debut EP, been on tour, and now is back with two new songs.

“I Hate Phone Calls (Long Distance Sucks)” is a song written by Webster and Country Swag favorite, Josh Kerr. The song opens with a banjo plucking an octave above Webster’s voice as she describes her distaste for long distance relationships.

“I hate phone calls // I’m sick of pretending I’m okay // When you ask me how I’m doing // There ain’t that much left to say”

The title tells you everything you need to know about the song, and it’s a tune that so many people will be able to relate to, especially in this day and age with technology.

The second song, “Risk” is a mid-tempo moment that reflects a different side of relationships: the ending. It’s unclear whether or not this is continuing the long distance story, but Webster sings in a way that shows she harbors no resentment – she just knows that when you fall deeply in love with a good person, it’s bound to hurt if you break up – that’s the risk.

“Guess that’s the risk that you take // When you love someone like I loved you”

Webster and Johnathan Hutcherson, her duet partner blend very well together vocally, and the production builds very sweetly and cinematically. Having another vocalist on the track makes it an interesting two-sided story instead of just one, and it makes you wonder if there could be a third part of the story.

Who Is Georgia Webster? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Georgia Webster? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

The Beginning:

This week we got to catch up with a budding new songstress in country music. Georgia Webster just released her debut EP First Goodbye last week, and we instantly fell in love with her vulnerability and talent. Growing up on the east coast in Hampton, Massachusetts, Webster’s whole life has done a 180. From a high school student to Nashville’s newest star, the singer-songwriter is on a path towards greatness.

“I grew up kinda in the middle of the woods, out in the country,” shared Webster, as she recalls her early experiences. She recalled her father playing acoustic guitar and artists like the Grateful Dead throughout her childhood. “I ended up being intrigued with the guitar. So he ended up teaching me my first few chords and got me my first guitar, and the rest is history from there.”

At as young as nine years old, Webster began writing music and teaching herself to play more songs on guitar. “I would kinda take the chords I taught myself and put them together to make my own songs.” She recalls learning to play early Taylor Swift songs and One Direction tunes at a young age. Webster even sang Carrie Underwood’s song “Something In The Water” at her sixth-grade talent show.

If Underwood was her introduction to country music, it was Sam Hunt that solidified her interest in the genre. “Sam Hunt came out a few years later, and I really related to the lyrics of his songs,” adding later, “I really found myself loving country music from him. It’s kinda like a country-pop feel and I thought that was so cool.” Nowadays, Webster loves all types of country music including Lennon Stella, Kacey Musgraves, and Tyler Childers.

The Turning Point:

Webster’s career really began to take off when she started posting clips of her songs on TikTok. Armed with a love for music, the singer never suspected her songs would go viral on the social media app. She credits TikTok for helping her get where she is now.

“TikTok has been crazy for me,” she begins. “Without TikTok I wouldn’t have gotten my record deal. […] They flew me down to Nashville to play a few songs of mine.” SONY Music Nashville signed Webster on the spot after discovering her on the app and later hearing her music in person. “’Box of Memories’ is the song I think got me signed,” she shares. “That was a big moment for me.”

Since signing her record deal, the songstress has gotten to hone her talent even more in Nashville. Her debut project is full of songs that her fans on TikTok have fallen in love with and songs she has loved.

Today:

On July 16th, 2021, Webster finally had her debut with First Goodbye. The record features songs that she has written over her high school experience. “I really wanted to make sure that it was just me on the project, just me that had written all of the songs,” adding “I just had to get them or else I’d regret not putting them out.”

It was important to Webster that her songs were reflective of her young self and relatable to younger audiences. The EP features songs like “Box of Memories,” “First Goodbye,” and “Tell Your Mom.” “‘Box of Memories” definitely stands out as like my favorite one. That one and “First Goodbye,” the title track. That one is definitely really close to me,” shares Webster.

The singer also shared the story behind the fan-favorite song “Tell Your Mom.” “It’s based off a true story,” she begins. “It kinda just made me think of all the times in our relationship and got me back to going over his house […] and it just made me think your ex’s or anyone that you are close with, the family plays a big role in your relationship with them too.”

If her debut record is any inclination, Webster will continue to garner more and more fans over the trajectory of her career. The singer just announced her first tour with Ingrid Andress, kicking off this Fall. She will have more songs out before the tour begins. It is safe to say that Webster will continue to be adding to her box of memories, as her career continues to blossom.

Georgia Webster: ‘First Goodbye’ EP – Review

Georgia Webster’s First Goodbye EP is out today, July 16th, on all streaming platforms. Featuring tracks such as “Push & Pull” and “Tell Your Mom,” check out our full review below.

We always look forward to Fridays because of the incredible new releases by country artists. Today, we are extra excited because talented singer-songwriter Georgia Webster makes her major-label debut. The Sony Music Nashville signee may only be 17 years old, but she has all the wisdom you need to make great music. Webster’s debut EP First Goodbye is officially out.

The EP kicks off with two songs that fans might be familiar with, due to the singer’s massive presence on social media. “Tell Your Mom” is arguably the song that made it happen for the songstress. The track went viral on TikTok back in July of 2020, and fans are still obsessed with it today. It is one of those songs that is both lyrically and melodically soothing.

“Summer nights and the way we kissed ya // Thought I was done didn’t know I missed it // But when I heard her voice I couldn’t breathe // Tell your mom to stop calling me // No disrespect, she’s the nicest lady // But she reminds me of you and lately // I’ve been holding myself up from falling // Please tell your mama to stop // calling, calling, calling”

Next up, “Push & Pull” brings us all back to that place of not wanting to end a relationship that your heart is no longer in. Webster admits to just not quite feeling it with her current relationship. Although many artists tackle heartbreak in their music, the singer does so in a way that gives a voice to those relationships that are good, but just not good enough.

The record transitions into another slow song with the title track, “First Goodbye.” Unlike “Push & Pull,” the heartache is truly evident on this song. Webster recounts a high school relationship and all the “firsts.” The song is nostalgic, sweet, and deeply personal. The songstress really lets fans into her heart on this diamond of a song.

“I can’t stop going back and forth // I keep asking myself // if freedom and growing is worth being alone, but I guess it’s too late now // and back then we had it easier, never wanted to leave // I say it and it hurts”

On “UGLY,” Webster shows off her sassier side. The singer describes a physically beautiful teen boy, but still labels him as “ugly” because of the way he treated her. The song feels stage-ready; despite, its melancholy content.

The record wraps up perfectly with “Box of Memories.” Although the song feels somber, we can all relate to that physical box of an old relationship that is pushed away into the back of our closet. “Box of Memories” is a song that paints imagery to that feeling and that physicality. It beautifully puts a bow on the record in a way that feels like a chapter ending.

The entire record is truly made up of what feels like diary entries from the songstress. Mashing up John Mayer vibes with old-school Taylor Swift, Webster finds the sweet spot with her knack for songwriting and her captivating country-pop vocals. Congrats to the singer on an incredible debut!

First GoodbyeEP Tracklist:

  1. Tell Your Mom
  2. Push & Pull
  3. First Goodbye
