Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi Duet on “Getting Over Him”

Getting over Him Jon Pardi Lauren Alaina

Country fans first heard the duet of Lauren Alaina and Jon Pardi when she joined him for “Don’t Blame it on Whiskey,” the ballad on Pardi’s third studio album, Heartache Medication. Pardi has returned the favor and features on Alaina’s newest song “Getting Over Him,” which will also serve as the name of her upcoming Extended Play, out September 4th.

Written by Alaina, Paul DiGiovanni, and Emily Weisbland (writers on Sam Hunt’s “Sinning With You”), “Getting Over Him” is a fun track about a girl who has just gone through a breakup and is now looking for a way to get over it. The male in the song has a reputation of being a one-night, no-strings-attached guy, which is exactly what she is looking for. He gladly accepts her drunken invitation for a fun night out on the town.

Hot like a match, it burned out fast / Forever wasn’t in our eyes / You knew it and I knew it / And it was a damn good time / My last call, first call, no falling / Just my getting over you guy

This will be Alaina’s second EP of 2020; Getting Good was just released in March. Getting Over Him will contain six tracks, including the ambitious “Run” and a duet with the “7 Years” singer, Lukas Graham. As for Pardi, he just released The Rancho Fiesta Sessions, in which he covers eight classic songs from all genres including “The Bottle Let Me Down” by Merle Haggard, “The Waiting” by Tom Petty, “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Prince and more!
