Noah Schnacky Collaborates with Jimmie Allen on New Song

Noah Schnacky collaborates with Jimmie Allen on new song, “Don’t You Wanna Know,” available now on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig into the song.

Two of our favorite singers right now in country music, Noah Schnacky and Jimmie Allen, created an absolute jam together! An unexpected pairing, Schnacky and Allen collaborating is everything we didn’t know we needed. Today the singers dropped a brand new song “Don’t You Wanna Know.”

The infectious track came to Schnacky in a dream, he recalls in a recent press release. When he was ready to bring the song to fruition, he knew that Allen was the perfect collaborator. “Don’t You Wanna Know” is an absolute anthem. Both singers are not afraid to bend the genre boundaries in their music. It is clearly working for them on this song.

“He took me in, gave me his number, so the first person I could think to call was him,” shared Schnacky, talking about Allen. Allen added “I appreciate you reaching out to me. This song is fire.”

“She’s a west coast, gone east coast // A city girl out of LA // Trading a party in hills for the backroads // But she don’t know a thing about the southern thing, yeah // How much you wanna know // How much // A city boy never going to show you this stuff // Once you get a taste, you can never get enough // It’s a better kinda life, so baby trust”

Schnacky has been steadily releasing songs that his fans have fallen in love with lately. On the other hand, Allen has been killing it with collaborations of his own, on his latest project Bettie James. Despite all the amazing tunes that have come from the two, “Don’t You Wanna Know” might be one of our all-time favorites!

Ten Things to Know About Brett Young’s New Album ‘Weekends Look A Little Different These Days’

As we anticipate the release of Brett Young’s new album Weekends Look A Little Different These Days, due out June 4th, we’re sharing ten things to know about the record that we learned from our recent interview with the singer.

  1. Young collaborated with the writers behind his very first number one song “Sleep Without You” once again on “Not Yet”, a previously released track on the album.

“We haven’t had a single together, since “Sleep Without You,” Brett shares in our recent conversation.

  1. Writing uptempo for the project was admittedly a challenge for the singer who is well known for his ballads, but upon listening to the project it’s clear he overcame the challenge seemingly well.

“Even when I write uptempo, like if you read the lyrics, it still reads like a ballad.”

  1. Lady”, the lead single and chart-topping song was not originally meant to be released.

“The only reason that song was even recorded […], I played it for Dan Huff (producer) and as a baby gift for us, he wanted to record that song for us. […] because Dan did that and was so sweet to give us that song as a gift, we were able to share it with people and realize that it was probably something that people needed.”

  1. You can possibly be the first to hear the new songs live.

“Nobody has heard the new songs live yet, and they won’t until the record comes out.”

  1. There’s a song that shares his entire love story with wife, Taylor Mills-Young.

“The song “Dear Me” is telling me and Taylor’s entire story. […] It’s to that young man that had his heartbroken that if he would just settle down, be patient, it’s still the girl, you weren’t wrong.”

  1. Many of the songs are still autobiographical, which his wife is getting used to.

“The hardest thing I think for her on the first record is the break-up songs […] We’re really grateful for the memories because they’ve made us really strong.”

  1. “You Didn’t” is a break-up song inspired by the throwback vibe of Boyz II Men.

“We were on a writer’s retreat […] and at dinner, we all started talking about, we all had a mutual love for Boyz II Men. […] so we just said, let’s get something started tonight with that in mind.”

  1. Young is so thankful that his song “Lady” has touched music lovers’ hearts.

“That literally is the reason that I write music. Connections like that.”

  1. The album’s songs capture new chapters in Young’s life right now.

“My goal is always to pull back the curtain a little bit. Vulnerability and authenticity are paramount for me.”

  1. This record challenged the singer’s songwriting.

“The thing that I had to let go of was the timing of it all, learning that I could plug myself into stories that didn’t speak to the current state that I am in right now.”

Dylan Scott’s “Nobody” Earns Him a #1 Single at Country Radio

Dylan Scott’s “Nobody” rises to the top of the country music charts, earning him his second number one single at country radio.

This week Dylan Scott’s current radio single, “Nobody” is the number one song on the charts! It is hard to believe that this marks only the second number-one single of his career since his song “My Girl” flew up the charts a few years ago.
“Nobody” was an instant hit, since it was released two years ago. Both catchy and romantic, the song appealed to country music lovers everywhere. In this song, Scott combines his talent for creating catchy romance songs with adding a unique flavor to his music.
“I know how you like your coffee // And how hot you like your bath // I know what makes you angry // And what makes you laugh // I know the taste of your lips // Every inch of your skin // The little things that turn you on // I know that look in your eyes when they look back at mine…”

Since the beginning, it has been clear that fans and country radio alike adore this side of Scott’s talent. We imagine that he will have more number ones to come if he continues on this trajectory. Congrats to Dylan Scott and his team on “Nobody” going number one at country radio!

Who Is Adam Sanders? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Adam Sanders? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

Adam-sanders-who-is-what-if-i'm-right

Adam Sanders

The Beginning:

Today we bring you the story behind singer-songwriter Adam Sanders’ journey to country music. Growing up in a small town in North Florida, Sanders’ life revolved around music. “I started singing when I was three years old. I always say music picked me, I didn’t pick music,” declared the singer at the start of our interview.

As a child, Sanders recalls being enamored with music especially, 90s country music. “90s country was sort of my first love and always will be,” shared the artist. Later, he declared his love for one particular country music legend. “When I was about 3 years old, Alan Jackson was like my childhood hero. I really looked at him as who inspired me to move to Nashville.” Of course, the singer now credits his love of music in general for inspiring him, namedropping artists like The Band Camino, Jason Aldean, LANY, and Tim McGraw as some of his favorites.

Interestingly enough, Sanders later realize that Alan Jackson reminded him of his uncle. That same uncle happened to work in country music. His uncle inspired him to begin writing songs at the tender age of 12 years old. “You should look into writing songs and that could be your way into the music industry one day,” said his uncle to Sanders. “The next day I wrote a song with my dad at 12 years old and found that I really enjoyed the process. Fast forward however many years later, that was actually true and that’s how I got my start in the music industry.”

The Turning Point:

Sanders’ dream to move to Nashville to pursue music came to fruition in 2009. “I started writing songs for a living. I was in Nashville for two years and found my first publishing deal. […] and about 6 months into my deal, I had my first cut on a Luke Bryan album.” The singer went on to achieve cuts on albums for the likes of Bryan, Cole Swindell, Dierks Bentley, Dustin Lynch, and more. He even scored two number ones as a songwriter with Swindell’s “Ain’t Worth The Whiskey” and Lynch’s “Hell of a Night.”

Slowly, but surely, Sanders began to cut his teeth in Nashville as an artist too. The singer began releasing songs independently and growing his fanbase organically throughout his years in the industry. “I’m just sort of programmed to think about music all day, every day,” shared the singer, when asked about the challenges of being an independent artist. “For me, it’s never felt like a job because it’s the only thing I ever really wanted.”

Today:

Flash forward to today, Sanders has crossed the threshold of 100 million streams on music platforms. Also, this year, the singer finally got to release a full-length project that his fans have been patiently waiting for. The album, What If I’m Right dropped earlier this month.

“Last year, when I released a song call “Make Em Wanna Change,” I really started to find a common thread about what my fans wanted me to sound like and what they wanted to hear from me. I feel like that was sort of the tip of the iceberg for the album,” shared Sanders.

The singer included a fan-favorite song, “Bible Versus” on his newest project. Another standout track on the record is a collaboration with friend and co-creator Cole Swindell. “Daddy Jesus & Earnhardt” was written during a time when Swindell invited Sanders on his bus to catch the NASCAR races together.

Through conversation about their childhoods, their mutual love of NASCAR, and country music, a song was born. “We thought how cool would it be as a visual to have people in the crowd to hold up a 1 for daddy, a 2 for Jesus, and a 3 for Earnhardt,” began Sanders. “I feel like [the song is] just very honest and true about how I grew up and how a lot of other people grew up. So, I think the relatability of that song is what makes it really resonate with people.”

As the record continues to gain in popularity, Sanders shows no signs of slowing down. The singer is hopeful that another album will be out before the year ends. Sanders is also looking forward to getting back out on the road to connect with country music lovers all across the country!

MAY PICKS:

Stephanie Wagner, Founder

Pick: “When the Party’s Over” – Donovan Woods
Songwriters: Donovan Woods, Tom Douglas, Travis Wood

This month I have been hooked on Donovan Woods’ “When the Party’s Over”. This song randomly came on one day and immediately caught my attention. I love the picture it paints of the best part of the night not being the actual party, but when the party is over and you just have that alone time with that special someone. You can almost feel the magic described in the lyrics and I think it’s a moment of the night that everyone can relate to.

“‘Cause when the party’s over // I get to pull you in closer // We dance a little bit slower // Vinyl still spinning // Night’s just beginning // Girl, were gonna keep on rocking // Come on kiss me like no one’s watching // Your black dress gets to dropping // And the fireworks start // Yeah the night’s been so good, so far // But the best part, is when thе party’s over”

Dylan Bestler, Contributing Writer

Pick: “Momma Didn’t Raise No” – Garrett Biggs
Songwriters: Ethan Willis, Garrett Biggs, Joseph Maliszewski, Matthew McSwain

I found this song by accident after the playlist I made on YouTube ended. I left it on, because the title intrigued me, and it’s a good thing that I did. Not only is it very catchy, but the story is also inspiring. Biggs praises the way his mother raised him and credits her for shaping him into the strong man he is today, even though he wasn’t the most well-behaved child.

“Oh I might be a little rough around the edges // And from the outside looking in I might seem helpless // But I’ve been blessed with a strong backbone // I never could’ve made it on my own // And it’ll be written on my headstone // ‘Cause momma didn’t raise no”

I’ve written this before; my favorite songs are ones that are personal to the artist yet can relate to others as well. I feel most people don’t appreciate just how much their parents do for them until they move out or go away to college—at least that’s when I realized. Biggs captures that feeling well in this song and it hit me hard, especially right after Mother’s Day. I suggest checking out some other songs from Biggs’ catalog too!

Kristina Callahan, Contributing Writer

Pick: “More Time Fishin'” – Thomas Rhett
Songwriters: Josh Thompson, Rhett Akins, Thomas Rhett, Will Bundy

I love just about every song Thomas Rhett puts out, but this song really hits home for me. After a crazy and difficult year and a half, Rhett gives us some sound advice everyone should take to heart in his new song “More Time Fishin’.”

“You can spend your whole life // Tryin’ to make a killin’ // But what’s it all worth without a little livin’? // Don’t wanna look back at all the things I’m missin’ // And wake up wishin’ I spent more time fishin’, yeah // More time fishin’, yeah”

The song is about not wasting time and doing things you love now because you never know when it’ll be too late. It’s so easy to get caught up with work, errands, house chores and forget about the important things in life. Whenever I need a reminder of that, this is my go-to song.

Erin Crosby, Contributing Writer

Pick: “Figured Out” – Lacy Cavalier
Songwriters: Brian Phillips, Kyle Schlienger, Lacy Cavalier, Nick Luebke

This month, I’ve been listening to Lacy Cavalier’s vibey new song, “Figured Out”. If you’re looking for a new song that’s fun to sing along to and just chill out, this is it.

“You got it figured out // Imma sit back and watch cuz // You know your way around // Like I swear nobody else does // Using fingertips like a paintbrush // I’m your work of art that’ll never be done // You got it figured out”

Caleigh DeCaprio, Contributing Writer

Pick: “Days Go By” – Keith Urban
Songwriters: Andrew Powell, Keith Urban

I had an early morning road trip earlier this morning and needed to switch up what I’ve been listening to so I scrolled through my old playlists and played my summer playlist from 2016 (I had just gotten my truck and graduated from high school). The first song to play was “Days Go By” by Keith Urban (much older than 2016 I know) but it put me in such a good mood as I watched the sunrise in the rearview mirror. It was such a vibe and put me in the perfect ‘summer’s coming’ mood for the rest of my drive of singing and dancing ahead. I highly recommend diving into your old playlists if you need to switch things up, if you want to bring back memories, or if you’re getting super antsy about summer.

“Days go by / I can feel them flyin’ / Like a hand out the window in the wind / Cars go by / Yeah, it’s all we’ve been given / So you better start livin’ right now / ‘Cause days go by”

Erica Zisman, Contributing Writer

Pick: “when was it over?” – Sasha Sloan ft. Sam Hunt
Songwriters: Henry Agincourt Allen, Emi Dragoi, Sam Hunt, Sasha Sloan, Shane McAnally

My song pick for May is actually a collaboration. When I heard that Sasha Sloan was going to join forces with Sam Hunt, I was immediately intrigued. I have been loving cross-genre collaborations and I especially love the whole genre-bending trend. Their song “when was it over?” is an instant bop.

“I didn’t ask if you were okay // After a fight with your mom // The last time I stayed over at your place // And you woke up alone // Was it the first time you pulled away // Second time that we drove to Texas // Third time we ran into one of my random exes // So was it ever real? // Or was it all pretend // The way you act has good me wonderin’ // When was it over for you?”

The push-pull nature of the song feels effortless, but it’s the lyrics and the simple production that gets me every time. This song could easily fit in with any genre because of how simply gorgeous it is. When I heard that Shane McAnally had a hand in writing it with Hunt and Sloan, I knew exactly why I had fallen in love with it so easily. I encourage everyone to give it a listen!

Drew Parker Chats Abouts His First Radio Single + New Music Video Drop

Drew Parker joined us to chat about his debut single “While You’re Gone” which impacted country radio earlier this week. Additionally, the singer-songwriter dropped the official music video for the track.

Singer-songwriter Drew Parker is making quite the name for himself this past year. We first interviewed the budding artist back in November and got the chance to catch up with him again earlier this week. Following the release of his EP While You’re Gone, the title track was sent to country radio just a few days ago marking his radio debut as an artist and today, Parker drops the official music video.

The “While You’re Gone” music video is just as great as the song. Parker shows off his personality, twisting the original narrative of the song for some comedic relief. “This song to me is a sad country song about a guy who’s missing someone that he really cared about,” Parker tells us. “I’m heavily influenced by 90s country music. I feel like it has that comical element that songs back in the day kinda had at times.”

Leaning into that comedic element, the singer flips the script. The music video is about a man missing his dog rather than his ex. “What better way to do that, then really show – ‘this guy’s not mad about the girl, but really sad that she took the dog’,” shares Parker during our conversation.

Fans of Parker will appreciate his nod to the 90s with the music video! “While You’re Gone” is officially Parker’s debut radio single, so we encourage fans to request it at their local radio stations too!

“To really get to show my little girl that you can chase your dreams, nothing is impossible. I think that’s kinda special for me that all of this has kinda happened in her first year of life,” shared Parker, as he reflected on his first radio single as an artist.

Additionally, Parker’s co-write with Luke Combs’, “Forever After All” is well on its way to officially claiming the top spot on country radio next week. It’s safe to say that Drew Parker is a name you’re going to want to remember!

Chase Rice: The Album – Full Review | Country Swag

Country singer-songwriter, Chase Rice released three new songs today, May 28th, officially completing his latest ongoing project simply titled, The Album. Rice co-wrote all three new tracks, and eleven of the fifteen total. His current single, “Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen” featuring Florida Georgia Line was also included and was placed as the album’s closer. Keep reading below as we dive deeper into these new tracks.

The Album started in January of 2020 when Rice surprised his fans with Part I of the project, which contained seven tracks, including the top-15 radio single “Lonely If You Are.” Part II was released last May– nearly a year ago to the date—and contained four tracks such as “Break. Up. Drunk.” and “Belong.” Today, we have the full collection, which includes “The Nights,” “Bedroom,” and “If I Didn’t Have You.”

“It’s crazy to look back now and see the journey this album has taken us on throughout writing and recording it,” Rice noted in a recent press release. “We shared so many of these songs with the fans as they were being written and got their input along the way – so it’s their journey and lives in these, too. I think this new music will always mean a bit more to me since it has carried us all through some strange and uncertain times.”

In “The Nights,” penned by Rice, Zach Kale, and James McNair, he acknowledges the difficulty of moving on from a former relationship. Rice toggles between singing and speaking over a mid-tempo, pop, snap-track beat, recollecting the vulnerable moments between himself and this girl, as it is ironically the only thing that gets him through these tough, lonely nights without her.

“Might run me off the tracks // might drown me in the waves // might make me lose my mind // might send me to the grave // But it gets through the nights, gets me through the days // gets me through the memories I can’t escape”

It’s not a true Chase Rice album without a steamy sex song. He is definitely not shy when it comes to discussing physical intimacy in his music. Ignite the Night had “Ride,” Lambs & Lions had “On Tonight,” and now The Album has “Bedroom,” where the singer confesses his desire for this woman is so strong and the temptation is so unbearable, that they probably won’t even make it to the bedroom, but if they do, it “doesn’t stand a chance.” Rice co-wrote this track with Jimmy Robbins and his good friend, Jon Nite.

“If I know you the way you’re looking at me that way // That we don’t even make it halfway down the hallway // Once you get me how you get me once I got you in my hands, girl // That bedroom don’t stand a chance”

Women often bring out the best qualities of their men. In “If I Didn’t Have You,” Rice praises a particular woman for vastly influencing the man he is today. He lists all the things he would be and wouldn’t have if she wasn’t around. Producers Jonathan Singelton and Robbins included a heavy dose of backing electric and acoustic guitar between the chorus and following verse.

If I didn’t have you I’d be lost on an old lonesome highway, no ride or die by my side // If I didn’t have you I’d be singing the same old truck songs in the same smokey old dives // I’d be red and white stripes with no blue // A drunk-dialing Johnny, no June // If I didn’t have you

After sixteen months, we finally have the complete album. It is easy to see that these tracks were written at different times, as each part represents a different time in Rice’s and our lives. Fans will have the chance to hear the new music live as Rice joins Kane Brown on the NBA arena Blessed & Free Tour at the top of 2022. For a full list of dates and to purchase tickets, click here.

Southerland: Boot Up – EP Review | Country Swag

New country duo Southerland’s debut EP, Boot Up, featuring “Thing Is,” “Little Bit of You,” and “Along Those Lines” is out now, May 28th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

After meeting in 2016, Matt Chase and Chris Rogers hit it off musically and began writing and playing small shows together. In 2019, they signed to River House Artists/Sony Music Nashville as Southerland, and today, May 28th, they released their debut EP, Boot Up. With traditional country sounds and smooth harmonies, the duo are poised for big things, and couldn’t be more excited about releasing new music.

“With the craziness of 2020, we kept our feet on the gas in the writers room and in the studio,” shared Southerland. “We’re always excited to release new music, but we’re especially excited about this EP. Some of our very favorite songs we have written are on this project.”

Produced by Greg Bates, all seven songs on the EP were co-written by Chase and Rogers, and feature an array of other writers, including the woman behind many of Blake Shelton’s biggest hits, Jessi Alexander.

The EP opens with the title track, “Boot Up,” and the EP’s tone is immediately set. It’s country, it’s harmonies, and it’s fun. “We wake up every morning before the rooster crows,” they begin over twangy steel guitar and banjo, and it’s clear that the duo is straight country. On this clever ode to cowboy boots, they celebrate the significance of their boots in country life. “We go to work in them // Sun up to sun down // Church in ‘em // Making mama real proud,” They sing. “All the people like me showed up // Boot up.”

On “Might As Well Be Us,” the duo celebrate the good ol’ days when things were better and built to last. However, this isn’t the typical track of longing for simpler times, as they flip it into a love song. “Some things gotta hold together // the kinda thing time can’t touch,” they sing. “Some things gotta last forever // Might as well be // Might as well be us.”

Vocally, Southerland settles comfortably into mid-tempo country, as evidenced on “Came Out of Nowhere” and “Along Those Lines.” On the latter, they celebrate hometowns, and how they’re all similar. “When we wrote this song, we realized that it doesn’t matter where you are from,” explained Chase in a recent interview with Taste of Country. “A lot of time, you grow up very similar to everyone else, and in this song, it’s as if Chris (Rogers) and I came up with our own little fictitious town, where we took a little bit of this and a little bit of that from each of our hometowns and put it together into a song.”

One of the EP’s highlights is “Dance,” a swinging up-tempo track about a girl who just wants to dance, and if the guy wants his chance, he just has to be prepared to dance. She may not be looking for a guy, but that’s all out the window when it comes to two-stepping. “When she wants to dance // Buddy that’s your chance,” They advise. “When her song comes on // No you can’t go wrong // When she wants to dance.”

The EP closes with “Thing Is,” a stomping up-tempo produced by Trent Wilmon. It’s remnant of the best 90s country with its toe-tapping beat and cute story. The wordplay here is exceptional, as they remark “Can’t put my finger on // Whatever made me fall in love like this // She’s got // Whatever that // Thing is.”

With an authentic country sound, Southerland’s debut EP is a welcomed breath of fresh air. We expect big things from this country duo, and in the meantime, Boot Up is a great introduction to the pair.
