Luke Bryan Releases Sexy Music Video for “Knockin’ Boots”

Luke Bryan has released the first track from his next forthcoming, seventh studio album and “Knockin’ Boots” is a sultry, summer song that fans have come to expect from the crooner. In the accompanying visual released last week, Bryan performs the track in a bar reminiscent of any honky tonk across the country, for patrons who dance, make out and eventually by the end of the video are soaked when someone intentionally sets off the fire sprinklers, making it even sexier.

“From the moment I heard this song I knew I had to get in the studio and record it. I just couldn’t get it out of my head. This may be the fastest turnaround I have ever done with a song,” Bryan states in a recent press release. The song is currently sitting in the top 10 on the radio charts and may even become the superstars 23rd number one song.

Bryan is currently headlining his Sunset Repeat Tour which brings along Jon Langston, Cole Swindell, and Dylan Scott (on select dates). The tour hits our area later this month two nights in a row at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater on July 13th and July 14th. Grab tickets to both shows here.

Stephanie Quayle Releases Breathtaking Video for “If I Was A Cowboy”

Stephanie Quayle If I was A Cowboy

Rising singer-songwriter and one of our Swag Spotlight artists, Stephanie Quayle released the breathtaking music video for her single “If I Was A Cowboy.” Directed by Jeff Johnson, the video premiered exclusively on CMT July 1st. “If I Was A Cowboy” offers a glimpse into Quayle’s country-western roots, as it is filmed on her family’s ranch in Montana along with her very own horses. The picturesque mountains create an incredible backdrop to a young girl growing up riding horses, learning that she can and will be just as tough as a cowboy.

The visual for “If I Was A Cowboy” displays a strong sense of female empowerment and strength. As the girl in the music video grows up, she is told by her boyfriend that he does not want to get married. Much to her despair, she was forced to witness him moving on with another woman. The message Quayle so beautifully portrays throughout the song is: although you may experience heartbreak and adversity, it is important to remain strong and keep on keepin’ on. The timeless track was written by super songwriter trio Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally, and Nicolle Gaylon. The newfound freedom and regained toughness Quayle sings about in “If I Was A Cowboy” is displayed as she rides off into the stunning sunset underneath the vast Montana sky.

Quayle was named CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2019 and is rightfully earning every bit of success thus far. The extremely talented country newcomer has graced the stages of both The Grand Ole Opry and The Ryman Auditorium and performed alongside Kane Brown, Brett Eldredge, John Pardi, and more. She also performed at our 2nd Annual Babes, Booze & Brunch event back in March. “If I Was A Cowboy” is the nostalgic anthem that is paving the way for her EP that is currently being worked on. In the meantime, you can catch Quayle on the road at various festivals and shows this summer.

To keep up with Stephanie Quayle follow her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

6 Rising Female Artists Who Will Make Radio Pay Attention

One of the things we’re most excited about is the influx of ridiculously talented female singer-songwriters that are unapologetically bringing unique artistry to the country music world. In an era that’s dominated by male recording artists, these six female rising artists are breaking the mold and making a name for themselves in music.

1. Kassi Ashton
Kassi Ashton is one of NYCountry Swag 2019 Artists to Watch and is one of UMG Nashville’s most promising new artists. Armed with a soulful voice, unique vocals, and a fearless personality, Ashton is everything country music didn’t know they needed. She stays true to herself and doesn’t sugarcoat anything, which is why we love her! Listen to her songs “Field Party” and “Violins” to truly understand her talent. P.S most of the outfits you see her wearing, she designed and created her self, just another tidbit that makes her the coolest. Keep up with Ashton via her Instagram and Twitter.

2. Tenille Townes
Another artist we just can’t get enough of is Tenille Townes. Between her raw vocals and impressive songwriting, Townes is the full package. She shines on emotional songs like “Somebody’s Daughter” and “I Kept the Roses.” Check her out on tour this summer with Dierks Bentley! We are proud that she is not only one of our 2019 Artists to Watch, but also a Swag Spotlight alum. Read our Swag Spotlight with Townes and follow her on Instagram and Twitter to learn more.

3. Ingrid Andress
We can’t say enough good things about the next artist on our list, Ingrid Andress. After being introduced to her music at an exclusive Warner Music Nashville showcase, back in February, we haven’t stopped singing her praises. Andress is the definition of innovative, and truly embodies the new wave of female country artists that are emerging. Her vocal range and clever wordplay are evident in her songs “Lady Like,” “More Hearts Than Mine,” and “Both”. Be sure to follow her on Instagram and Twitter.

4. Abby Anderson
Singer-songwriter, Abby Anderson is one to look out for. She already played her first headlining show in New York City last year and is gearing up to take the stage again, opening up for Rob Thomas at the Beacon Theatre in NYC on July 29th & 30th. We love her sassy new song “GOOD LORD” and can’t wait for more new music. Not to mention, her debut EP I’m Good was a great introduction to her unique artistry. Read our Swag Spotlight with her here, and keep up with her via Instagram and Twitter.

5. Lauren Jenkins
Lauren Jenkins is equally as stunning, as she is talented, and we knew she had to make our list. Jenkins is an artist we are so excited about. She is full of authenticity, raw talent and emotion, and she can literally sing anything. After witnessing her skills live during our Swag Session, and again in her opening spot on tour with The Wild Feathers, we can confidently say she’s a must listen to! Check out her songs “Running Out of Road” and “No Saint” off her debut studio album No Saint. Make sure to follow her on Instagram and Twitter too!

6. Caylee Hammack
Finally, Caylee Hammack rounds out our list of impressive female rising country artists. She’s another artist who embodies uniqueness. She doesn’t abide by the “rules” and gifts us all with music that is authentic to who she is as a person. We are loving her style, personality, and of course her vocals! The fiery redhead is killing it, and we can’t wait to see what’s to come for her in the future. Make sure to give her debut single, “Family Tree” a listen to. Keep up with Hammack on Instagram and Twitter.

That wraps up our list of six of the most fearless and talented female artists in the country music industry right now!

Like Luke Combs says, “Iced cold beer never broke my heart.” Make sure you bring some food along too- chips, hot dogs, and hamburgers are always welcome at a tailgate. Just don’t forget your cooler!

3. Good music.
Nothing puts people in a better mood than listening to some good music. So turn up the stereo, bring speakers, and jam to some country music before the show. Head to our Spotify for some awesome playlists to keep you pumped for the night to come!

4. Tables, chairs, and games galore.
Make sure you bring a couple of tables so you can play some of your favorite drinking games, like flip-cup or beer pong. Of course, they’re also good to keep your snacks and drinks on! If you want your tailgate section to be the place to be, we encourage you to bring some crowd favorite games like Kan Jam and corn hole too!

Tailgate

Garth Brooks Brings His Epic Stadium Tour to Eugene, Oregon

Garth Brooks Eugene

Garth Brooks performs “Rodeo” for a record crowd at Autzen Stadium in Eugene Saturday night. [Chris Pietsch/ The Register Guard]

Garth Brooks has been a household name for decades, touring the world, and his legacy is growing bigger and better each year. Brooks held a press conference at The Country Music Hall of Fame earlier last year to announce that over the next three years he will embark on a stadium tour, hitting 30 cities. The first set of cities have really blown Brooks’ fan base away. The latest city to experience the World Tour, Eugene, OR.

Opening up the show was Brooke Eden a Nashville based artist and BMI songwriter. Making a name for herself with her self-released single “American Dreamin,” and EP Welcome to the Weekend, the crowd was very impressed with her ability to capture an audience of 60,000+. With her songs including “Act Like You Don’t,” “Honey,” and “Honky Tonks In Heaven,” Eden gained many more fans last Friday night.

This tour was epic before the show even started, the 360-degree stage commanded such a presence among the large stadium. Autzen is known for loud crowds during football games and Brooks was up for the challenge. Dressed in his signature Wranglers, a red shirt and of course a cowboy hat, the highest selling solo artist of all time started the party with “All Day Long”. Instantly he felt the energy from the crowd so he paused and said “I see why everybody calls this the loudest place on Earth! If you are going to raise hell, you picked the right guy on the right night tonight!”

You hear that Brooks is famous for his live show and you can tell after just a few songs why he has been named Entertainer of the Year. Throughout roughly two and a half hours of hits –“Rodeo,” “Friends in Low Places,” and “Thunder Rolls” were in the set list among new songs. Brooks also included a few covers as well, starting with the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s “Fishin’ in the Dark.” What fans may not know is that two of his popular hits are two songs he turned into songs of his own, the Oak Ridge Boys’ “Callin’ Baton Rouge” and Billy Joel’s “Shameless” which both came later in the set.

He paused many times throughout the concert to take in the awe of the crowd but possibly the most emotional for Brooks was after “The River.” When the crowd takes over songs like “The River” and “Unanswered Prayers” it is one of the coolest feelings in the world to stand amongst so many singing along. To be in sync with that many people, singing the songs you grew up on, back to the artist themselves, there is nothing like it. You can tell by the emotion in Brooks’ eyes that these are the moments he dreamed of when he first got to Music Row.

Garth Brooks Eugene

While moments like the one above made the whole world stop for a second, Brooks still ran across the stage throughout the duration of his set, giving fans throughout the stadium plenty of opportunities to see him. You could tell that he was just as excited to be there as the fans were. Throughout the evening he told the crowd how great of an audience they were and how excited he was to be there with them for a night of music. Inviting the Oregon Ducks Cheer team and the Duck mascot himself on stage during “Friends in Low Places” was one of the highlights of the night. Brooks also brought a choir with him that filled the stadium stairs during “We Shall Be Free” wearing beautiful colorful robes.

20 years later and Garth Brooks is still selling out 50,000+ shows all across the country. With his unbelievable energy and charismatic personality, he shows no signs of slowing down. Continuing to announce dates throughout the next three years, as well as new music, there are plenty of opportunities to catch the man in action.

To keep up with Garth Brooks, visit his website or follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

NYCS Swag Spotlight Cody Webb

Cody Webb

Growing up in South Carolina, our Swag Spotlight this week Cody Webb started playing guitar when he was 8 years old and actually played in his father’s local band when he was only 12 years old. His father always listened to, and played southern rock music and Webb tells us in our recent interview that Lynryd Skynryd was a huge influence for him when he was learning to play guitar.  Throughout high school, he would play local festivals with his dad’s band and once he got to college at Clemson University he would play downtown bars and started gigging all over the area. Once he visited Nashville during his senior year of college, he knew that was where he had to be and moved there right after college to write music. “I love everything from Hank Williams to Waylon Jennings, Lynryd Skynryd and then new stuff like Post Malone and modern country. I just like good music. I don’t put myself in a box especially as a songwriter. If I listened to only country radio I wouldn’t write very creative songs, so I try to listen to all types of music,” Webb tells us.

In Nashville, Webb befriended Luke Combs before he really hit it big with his number one hits and they co-wrote a song for Combs’ album, “Memories Are Made Of” with Ray Fulcher. “We wrote several songs together so when he cut it all I thought was, ‘I’ve got a great friend cutting a song’. Nobody thought it would be a double platinum album and that he was going to be the biggest next thing, back then it was just, a friend is cutting one of my songs,” he tells us.

Cody Webb Jon Boat

He chats all about his current single “Jon Boat” which is the perfect summertime jam.  The idea clicking in his head after he was hanging on the lake with some buddies and a big yacht passed by. “So we wave at everyone going by, a giant yacht came by and we waved at them and they just looked at us like we were a bunch of rednecks and we shouldn’t have been waving to them so a friend of mine, who had too much to drink went off on them yelling how their boat cost more money but we’ll have fun with a Jon boat then your boat.”

It took several writing sessions with Trey Ellis, Trent Jeffcoat, and Keith Dozier together and separately but the song was finally finished and he started playing it out and it became a big hit with his fan base. He tells us that he finally felt the timing was right, excited about the team he now has around him and how happy he is to promote the song on the road this summer. He also can’t wait for the video release which is coming out later this month.

Besides playing gigs all over the country, Webb is looking forward to catching Luke Combs live and writing with him and Ray Fulcher on his bus in a few weeks. He tells us that he has even more new music almost ready to release and he is hoping to have the new tracks ready in the next few months.

To keep up with Cody Webb follow him on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

“Jon Boat” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

CMT Crossroads Brooks & Dunn and Friends

As if CMA Fest does not already have the best lineups, collaborations, award show and more, Brooks & Dunn just topped it off. CMT Crossroads has brought us the most unique collaborations including Brett Young with Boyz II Men, Zac Brown Band with Shawn Mendes, Brett Eldredge with Meghan Trainor, and more. This festival season CMT brought Crossroads to downtown Nashville with the help Brooks & Dunn and their friends.

Setting up on the corner of 5th and Broadway in downtown Nashville, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn invited the collaborators on their new album REBOOT to join them on stage. The free outdoor concert featured Brett Young, Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, LANCO, Luke Combs and Midland.

Each artist teamed up with the duo to sing the iconic songs off the album in front of hundreds of country music fans. Johnson jumped on stage with his twist on “Red Dirt Road” with the duo, Brandon Lancaster from LANCO performed “Mama Don’t Get Dressed Up for Nothing” and Midland rocked out on “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” Combs also got up on stage and powerfully sang “Brand New Man,” Pardi smoothly sang “My Next Broken Heart” and Young brought his vocals for“Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You.”

For those who missed the chance to see the performers live, you can catch CMT Crossroads: Brooks & Dunn and Friends on CMT on Demand. The duo will be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the “Modern Era Artist” category later this year. A Country Music Hall of Fame exhibit on Brooks & Dunn will also open Aug. 9. For more information, visit www.brooks-dunn.com.

Mickey Guyton Releases “Sister” The Anthem We All Need To Hear

Mickey Guyton Sister

Over the past few years, Capitol Records Nashville recording artist and songwriter Mickey Guyton has been on a journey to find what she wants to say and find a way to release music that fuels her inner fire. In a recently released video, Guyton explains how she is now focusing on staying true to herself in her career and giving up the urge to please others. She is excited to share this new chapter with country music fans and the very first song was released today (6/28).

“Sister” is for every girl out there, it is an anthem for being a friend, a confidant, and a true supporter of other women. Guyton co-wrote the song with Nathan Spicer and Victoria Banks and it was produced by Forest Glen Whitehead. The midtempo track starts off with powerful lyrics “I know it’s hard being strong and not gettin’ lost in the mans world, it’s gonna try to break you down but you gotta not give a damn girl…” she then sings in the compelling chorus  “Sister, I got your back on a long drunk stumble home / Sister, I’ll be your ‘hell yeah’ when all you ever heard was ‘no’ /  I’m your speed dial call, I’m your late night cry / I’m your shotgun seat, yeah I’m your ride or die / Sister, you’re gonna hurt but you ain’t gotta hurt alone”

“Sisterhood is truly what gets me through every day,” explains Mickey.  “I have two sisters but anyone who knows me, knows I call all the women in my life sister.  I wrote this song during a time when I challenged myself to write more honestly, be more open about my feelings, and reflect on how I’ve been uplifted by so many women in my life.  ‘Sister’ is about my love relationship with all my sisters, and how we lean on each other through highs and lows.”

In a time when the conversation needs to change, when it seems like all we are doing is talking about what needs to be modified in the country music genre, it’s refreshing to blast this song, hoping to soon be blasting it on country radio. Mickey Guyton is another example of a powerful female country artist unapologetically releasing great music, aiming at breaking the wheel.

To keep up with Mickey Guyton, follow her on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

“Sister” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Little Big Town Perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Back in April, country music supergroup, Little Big Town, debuted their haunting, yet beautiful new single “The Daughters,” performing the emotional song at the ACMs. On Wednesday night, Jimi Westbrook, Kimberly Schlapman, Karen Fairchild, and Phillip Sweet combined their vocals for another stellar performance of the powerful track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

After a quick introduction by host Jimmy Fallon, the video cuts to a stunning live image of the four band members, donning almost identical black tuxedos. The simplistic style, as well as, the juxtaposition of the setting to the lyrical message, adds an intriguing quality to the rather minimalist, yet dramatic arrangement of “The Daughters.”
As always, Fairchild mesmerized the audience and listeners with her extraordinary vocals, during the first verse, while Schlapman added her own flair to the song’s second verse for an equally as captivating production. Of course, the harmonies only made the performance better, adding both sophistication and drama to the already emotive song and performance. It’s clear that Little Big Town believes in the important message of equality that they are evoking through the lyrics of the track.

“And pose like a trophy on a shelf / Dream for everyone, but not yourself / I’ve heard of God the Son and God the Father / I’m just looking for a God for the daughters.”

“The Daughters” marks the first release from Little Big Town’s forthcoming ninth studio album. We anticipate more songs to be released, as the year continues to progress. If you’re looking to catch the quartet at one of their live shows, you can catch them at many fairs and festivals over the summer. For those willing to travel, Little Big Town plays at Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun on Sunday, July 7th, alongside the extremely talented, Ashley McBryde. For tickets and more information, head to littlebigtown.com
