After releasing his two-song EP in January this year and “Drop Everything,” (his debut country radio single) last year, Carlton Anderson is back with a foot-tapping, down-home country jam that will let you wanna spin your lady after sipping a glass or two.
Though “When Baby Gets A Buzz” is just released, longtime fans of the 27-year-old Cypress, Texas native would have remembered him performing it on radio tour and most recently, at the 2019 CMA Fest stage. Sometimes, some acts start out really country, and end up pursuing a more commercially viable sound, often attributing it to creative and artistic growth. However, with Anderson, while the former doesn’t apply, the latter does, and very evidently.
“When Baby Gets A Buzz, she’s neon lighting up / Turning every head, she’s just having fun / When she lets her hair down, hits me with that stare down, / I can’t get enough, she’s doing what she does / When Baby Gets A Buzz,” Anderson sings in his signature traditional country delivery that convinces you that a good time ensues.
While this song doesn’t boast of any incredibly profound or heart-tugging lyrics, it does well at what it’s supposed to do: shine as a good ole slow-dance honky-tonk song. Country music has songs for the heartaches and pains of life, but it also boasts a full catalog of tunes for fun and romance– and it is no doubt “When Baby Gets A Buzz” will be joining that collection of songs belonging to the Alan Jackson’s, George Strait’s and Cody Johnson’s of country music. Speaking of country music, did you know Anderson co-penned “Where Cowboys Are King” off Johnson’s latest record Ain’t Nothin’ To It.
Carlton will be on the road for the rest of the year through the end of January 2020 opening up for fellow Texas group, Josh Abbott Band. New music in the form of an EP or a series is expected to roll out in the near future too.
“Where Baby Gets A Buzz” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our “New Country Music” playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly country music fix.
