Brothers Osborne Release A Brand New Jam “All Night”

If you need something to give you a little pep in your step and put a smile on your face, look no further than Brothers Osborne’s brand new release. Aiming to keep the good times rolling despite the current landscape, the award-winning duo premiered their spitfire new single, “All Night” (5/15).

The new release is slated as fans’ first taste of the duo’s upcoming third studio album, the follow up to their impeccable, Port Saint Joe. Written by John and TJ Osborne with Andrew DeRoberts, “All Night” is a guitar-heavy tune made for the stage. Fans will definitely gravitate towards the enticing record and singalong-ready lyrics after just one listen.

“I got the good if you got the time / I got the moon if you got the shine,” the two cleverly sing in the first verse, only to up the ante in the second verse with “I got the rebel if you got the yell / I got the raisin’ if you got the hell.” Brothers Osborne remains undeniably true to themselves and their unique sound and we are here for anything they do!

Who Is Sean Stemaly? The Story Behind Her Journey to Country Music

Who is Sean Stemaly? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

sean stemaly

The Beginning:

This week we spoke with up and coming artist, Sean Stemaly for our Swag Spotlight feature. The Big Loud Records recording artist shared stories and lessons learned during his upbringing with us, as well as, his journey into the country music world. Of course, we also made sure to get the inside scoop behind his latest single “Come Back To Bed” and upcoming plans for his debut project.

Growing up in both Kentucky and Indiana, rural living played a large role in his upbringing. Learning from a young age the importance of hard work and a strong work ethic, Stemaly took a job driving tractors, working as a heavy equipment operator, before he ever considered a career as a musician.

The Turning Point:

“Whenever I was growing up, I was just a listener,” he shares with us, “I was never into actually making music or doing music or whatever. I was more of a music fan.” Interestingly enough, country music was not his first love. Stemaly grew up on classic rock and even shared, “Van Halen was my life back then,” crediting the band as one of his all time favorites. The singer added John Mellencamp and Motley Crue as some of his other favorites from the 80s rock genre.

Although he discovered country music and country radio on his own at around 14 years old, it was not until years later that he actually recognized his natural talent.  “I was listening to Brooks and Dunn on the radio and I was bored and I’ve been in that tractor for ten hours already and I just started singing along.” This led the rising artist to post a vine of him singing, which just so happened to go viral.

Stemaly continued to sing for fun and at church, but his path truly started to light up, when his friend suggested that he head to Nashville. “One of my buddies convinced me to move to Nashville and I took the jump.” Thankfully he did! Since moving to Nashville, Stemaly has found his team of people that support his blossoming career. Recently signing with Big Loud Records, the singer is truly in awe of what his life has become. Interestingly enough he ended up working with a producer who was behind some of his favorite songs, Joey Moi. “I grew up a huge Nickelback fan,” he admits, “I never would have thought that I would be working with the dude that literally produced Nickelback songs, later adding, “Joey is just a master at what he does.”

Today:

Stemaly also attributes Seth England (founder) and the whole team for pushing him out of his comfort zone, and allowing him to grow his talent, especially with his current radio single, “Come Back To Bed.” “Finding the balance between authenticity and being commercial is the challenge in my opinion,” he tells us, but somehow he has been able to showcase both with the new sensual song.

The self-proclaimed smooth and sexy tune had solidified the country crooner as one to look out for. “We decided to take it to the maximum sexy level that you can take country music,” he tells us, “It’s cool that I get to be a writer on a song like that, that I never thought I’d get to write.”

Of course, like the rest of us, Stemaly is not quite sure what the rest of the year has in store for him, but rest assured, a debut project will be leased sometime in the near future. Until then we will have to be patient, and continue to support and champion Stemaly’s one of a kind talent from afar.

Lee Brice Releases Studio Version of “Hey World”

Originally unveiled during a special living room performance on Fox & Friends, Lee Brice has officially released the studio version of “Hey World”.

In light of the tough times that we’re living in, Brice wrote the powerful track along with Dallas Davidson and Adam Wood. The beautiful piano ballad captures the essence of how we’re all feeling during the global pandemic while diving deep emotionally.

The song opens with the powerful and gut-wrenching lyrics that immediately resonate with fans around the world.

“Hey world, leave me alone / I don’t want to turn on the TV, ain’t nothing but bad news on”

The country star continues to sing from the heart, infusing his quintessential country twangs passionately throughout the lyrics.

“Hey world, I just need some space / Could you give me a minute, to catch my breath today”

The simple piano melody provides comfort, while the song encapsulates the feeling of wanting to escape from what is happening and pretend that it isn’t real. The repetition of the line “Hey world, leave me alone” transports the listener into a mental place of peace and comfort.

Brice and his fellow songwriters put deep feelings into words, in order to help those at home find solace in these tough times. This song embodies the power of music and lyrics, which has the ability to connect an artist with its audience, as we are all navigating this unimaginable time together.

LEE BRICE – “Hey World” Lyrics

Hey world, leave me alone
I don’t wanna turn on the TV
Ain’t nothing but bad news on
Yeah, the rain can wait for another day
This heart’s worn out, had all it can take

Hey world, leave me alone
Don’t call me up today, I won’t be picking up the phone
I’m gonna sit here on this porch swing and listen to the pines sing
Everything I need’s right here at home
Hey world, leave me alone

Hey world, I just need some space
Could you give me a minute to catch my breath today
I don’t need that long, and you ain’t going nowhere
So if you don’t mind, yeah, if you don’t care

Hey world, leave me alone
Don’t call me up today, I won’t be picking up the phone
I’m gonna sit here on this porch swing and listen to the pines sing
Everything I need’s right here at home
Hey world, leave me alone
Leave me alone, yeah

Hey world, leave me alone
Don’t call me up today, I won’t be picking up the phone
I’m gonna sit here on this porch swing and listen to the pines sing
Everything I need’s right here at home
Hey world, leave me alone
Hey world, leave me alone
Leave me alone

Lauren Davidson Lets Love Lead the Way in “Compass”

Lauren Davidson Compass

Lauren Davidson is one of country music’s newest frontwomen full of spunk and femininity. Back in January of 2018, Davidson was featured as one of our first local New York country artist Swag Spotlights. She disclosed her influences growing up, her childhood theatre productions, her move to Manhattan, and contemplating her move to Nashville. Today, she is back with “Compass;” the second single off of the Love Ain’t Fair EP. “Compass” is brimmed with confidence and powerhouse vocals.

“Compass,” co-produced with Dave Ricco and Cristian Castro, is an upbeat, guitar-driven story of confidence fighting for love.  She sings: “If we let love be our compass // Even in our roughest // Moments if we trust it, it’ll get us through // I ain’t scared of nothing // Let the storm start coming // and if the weights so heavy it’s enough to sink this ship // I’ll go down with it.”

Stated in a press release, Davidson shared, “I am so excited to get this second single off the Love Ain’t Fair EP out to you. We released the first single the title track – Love Aint Fair on Valentine’s Day and Compass is part 2 of 5 songs that I have co-produced with Dave Ricco and Cristian Castro which is a first for me. This song is really different for me story-wise than anything I have ever written and released before. Relationships are hard and anything but easy and that’s where this song comes from. It’s about wanting to fight for love when things are tough no matter what the obstacles are – let love be your compass and guide the way.”

Earlier this year, Davidson started Urban Country Jam, an event that highlights the rising country talent coming out of the tristate area. We are looking forward to celebrating the next Urban Country Jam once live music resumes.

Easton Corbin Is Back with New Single, “Turn Up”

Easton Corbin Turn Up

It feels like forever since talented singer-songwriter Easton Corbin has released any new music. Fans can revel in excitement as the artist officially released a new tune today, “Turn Up.” The new release follows the buzz around the ten year anniversary of Corbin’s number one hit “A Little More Country Than That.”

The new jam is the perfect country song for your playlist, as we head into the summer. Corbin’s southern drawl is on full display, as he sings the cleverly-strung together lyrics. Of course, the main message of the song is to have some fun and to “turn up,” but Corbin finds a way to cleverly weave the “turn up” phrase throughout the hook and chorus. For example, “Let’s turn up that river bank dirt road / I’ll turn up that country boy charm,” and then mixes it up again with the lyric, “Turn up a little Conway Twitty / We might just turn up in love.”

The new song marks the first release off a new EP slated to come out sometime later in the year. Although it’s a different sound than the song that made us fall in love with Corbin’s unique sound, “Turn Up” has the personality and the vibe that is unique to his artistry. We love seeing artists take risks, and we are excited to see what the singer’s next release will sound like!

NYCS First Impression: Chase Rice ‘The Album Part II’

Chase Rice The Album Part 2

Country singer-songwriter, Chase Rice, released The Album Part II today (May 15th), the follow-up to The Album Part I, which came out in January. Part II contains four tracks, three of which Rice co-wrote with his friends Jon Nite, Chris DeStefano, and other talented Nashville songwriters.

This four-track record begins with “You” (Rice, Nite, Zach Kale), a love song about how the protagonist believed they had everything they wanted until they met this other person who completely changed their outlook on life. An uncredited female singer provides background vocals in the chorus. Rice gives a shout-out to New York City with the line You don’t know how bad that you’ve got me, no no / It’s true, without you / It’s Times Square with no lights at midnight.”

Rice, who is very active on Instagram, has teased a few songs off this album including this next one, “Break. Up. Drunk.” Rice posted a video on March 25th showing him and his producer (DeStefano) finalizing the track. It’s about a relationship in which the two parties like each other, but deep down they know it’s not going to go anywhere. So instead of being sad about it, they take advantage of their last night together by splitting a bottle of whiskey and getting into bed together.

It’s gonna hurt like hell and I don’t wanna feel too much / If we’re gonna break up let’s break up drunk”

There are not many songs Rice records that he doesn’t co-write, but this song was too special to pass on. “I’d say, it’s probably one of my favorite songs that I’ve ever put out,” he says of the next track “Down Home Runs Deep.” “It takes me back to high school. I grew up in a small little town in the mountains of North Carolina, and it was just me and my buddies. We thought we ran that town and, in some ways, I guess we kind of did.” This song was written by Daniel Ross, Mike Walker, James McNair, and one of our favorite rising, country stars, HARDY. Listeners can tell it’s a HARDY song within the first few lines as he describes his hometown with very specific characteristics and catchy phrases. Smelled the sweet of them pines / And it’s honeysuckle, belt buckle paradise,” he sings in the first verse.

Rice said the final song, “Belong,” wasn’t originally slated for this album, but he felt that it could be used as a comfort to people during these trying times. This is definitely the most meaningful song he has ever released. He discusses how fear, hardships, and uncertainty are all a part of life, and there are positives to be gained in any negative situation. For example, he tells the story of a kid who sold his Jordans for his mother’s treatments, and that helps him realize there’s still love in the world. He also mentions how he feels lost in his cell phone at times, but that phone allows him to remember lyrics and melodies that pay his bills. “The moral of the story is we’re right where we belong,” Rice assures. “Don’t panic. We’re gonna get out of this and the thing is, we’re gonna do it together.”

Rice is also contributing to COVID-19 relief. The “Lonely If You Are” singer announced on his Instagram page last week that he is now on Cameo, a website where users pay celebrities to give personalized shout-outs to their friends and family. He joked that he would use the extra cash for beer money, but actually, he is donating 100% of the profits made from the site to his band and crew.

Rice is scheduled to open up select dates for Rascal Flatts on their Life is a Highway Tour. Although we are uncertain if we will see any concerts this summer, we are certain that these are not the final tracks on The Album; there will be a part III that fans can expect later this year. Rice has grown a lot as an artist over the years and we are excited to see what he has in store for us.

NYCS Picks:

  1. “Belong”
  2. “Down Home Runs Deep”

Track List:

You (Chase Rice, Jon Nite, Zach Kale)

Break. Up. Drunk. (Rice, Jordan Schmidt, Hunter Phelps)

Down Home Runs Deep (Daniel Ross, Michael Hardy, Mike Walker, James McNair)

Belong (Chase Rice, Chris DeStefano, Nite)

NYCS First Impression: Travis Denning ‘Beer’s Better Cold’

Travis Denning Beer's Better Cold

When you combine the influence of hair metal bands with your Georgia roots, it results in the creative sound of country music newcomer, Travis Denning. His debut EP, Beer’s Better Cold, released today (May 15th) and contains six tracks, five of which the 27-year-old from Warner Robbins co-wrote. “I want people to come away thinking ‘Who in the hell was that?'” he says of his first major-label project. “And ‘Where can I hear more?'”

“Where That Beer’s Been” starts off the record. This song gives us a taste of who Travis Denning is; a simple, southern boy who likes to let loose and have a good time. “I don’t know where that beer’s been, but I know where it’s going,” he sings.

The lead single, “After a Few” is climbing to the top of the country charts; it currently sits at number six on Billboard Airplay. Written by Denning, Kelly Archer, and Justin Weaver, this song tells the story of how a few drinks is all it takes for the singer and his former lover to make a mistake they will both regret in the morning. The electric guitar is prevalent on this track, showcasing his rock-influence. Denning describes this sound as “a hypnotic Tom Petty vibe.” Watch the music video below:

The next song, “ABBY” will likely be the next single as it is getting a lot of airplay on satellite radio. “ABBY” is an up-tempo, breakup song in which the protagonist is happy to finally end his relationship. Abby, however, is not the name of the other girl, it stands for “anybody but you.” We heard this song for the first time back in December when Denning opened for Riley Green at the Gramercy Theatre. “It’s not about one girl, and it’s not about all girls, this song is just about that one person that you don’t give two shits about anymore in your life,” Denning announced at the show. The songwriters (Ashley Gorley, Chase McGill, Matt Jenkins) use a fun and clever acronym to describe this unfortunate, yet common situation.

“Won’t make me go crazy like you know who / and her name is ABBY / that’s anybody but you”

In the next track, “Tank of Gas and a Radio Song”, Denning reminisces of good times just driving and fooling around with ex. He says the relationship was like a tank of gas and a song on the radio, as the best things in life don’t last long enough.

We anticipated another drinking song with the title track “Beer’s Better Cold” but Denning just uses the phrase to begin his list of the common facts of life. Unfortunately, the list that takes a melancholy turn as it closes with the fact that his ex won’t be back in his life anytime soon.

“Touchdowns-six, seven with a kick / a good song hits home and it’s always gonna be like that / Yeah, that’s just the fact, that beer’s better cold and she ain’t coming back”

The EP ends with a love song, “Sittin’ By A Fire.” Denning turns down a bonfire party with the boys because he was already sitting by a fire, meaning the person he is with. The sparks in her eyes and her red-hot kiss is all he needed to convince him that this was a better way to spend his Saturday night.

“We wanted the core of these songs to sound like a dad-gum rock band,” Denning said in a press release. “I wanted it to be guitar, bass, and drums, and there was something cool about starting there. It really anchored the songs on this power trio, in-your-face thing, and that was such a key-switch in my head. It was like ‘Alright, this is it.'”

Growing up, Denning listened to all types of music from Motley Crue, The Allman Brothers Band, and Outkast. He moved to Nashville when he was 21 and began writing music for Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Chase Rice, and others. He tallied his first top-25 hit for Michael Ray with the song “Her World Or Mine.” His break-out as an artist came with his original song “David Ashley Parker from Powder Springs”, a fun, teenage anthem about a boy with a fake I.D.

“I feel like a lot of people today come from where I come from – we just like music and it doesn’t matter what you call it,” Denning said. “I’m gonna make music for people like that.”

Denning has already toured alongside artists such as Riley Green, LANCO, Dustin Lynch, and others, performing mostly covers. The release of this EP expands his catalog and allows him to elongate his sets and perform original material. Although we are uncertain when live shows will resume, Denning is scheduled to hit the road with Sam Hunt on his SOUTHSIDE Summer Tour; a great opportunity to showcase these songs to country music fans all over the US.

NYCS Picks:

  1. “ABBY”
  2. “Beer’s Better Cold”

Keep up with Denning by following him on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter.

Kenny Chesney Postpones 2020 Chillaxification Tour

In most major cities, ‘Kenny Day’ has become a summer favorite as superstar Kenny Chesney‘s stadium tour makes its way through the country all summer long. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all non-essential events including live concerts and festivals have fallen victim to being forced to postpone or cancel shows altogether. Most recently, this includes superstar Kenny Chesney’s 2020 Chillaxification Tour.

“With so many tours needing to move and wanting to make sure we are in the best possible circumstances for No Shoes Nation, I think – and I hate saying this – it’s best to move everything into 2021,” Chesney says in a press release. “In the best interest of everyone – No Shoes Nation, my road family, the staff at the venues – we have decided to quit moving the dates around on the calendar, trying to make a chunk of this year work and go to where we believe we can roll out the entire Chillaxification Tour.”

Original tickets are automatically valid for a rescheduled show date. If you have tickets to a postponed show, refund options will be available at the time a rescheduled show date is announced.

SHOP THE HERO COLLECTION

The Hero Collection by NYCountry Swag is inspired by the men and women of the Fire, Police and Military Departments across the country. A portion of sales from each purchase is donated to different foundations that support our heroes. We are dedicated to honoring their service and remembering their sacrifice.
