The brand new dad has steadily been releasing songs from his upcoming album, Southern Symphony, slated for release on December 4th including “Home Sweet”, “Never Get Old” and the current 2-week number one song on country radio, “Love You Like I Used To”.

Morgan Wallen Releases Three Brand New Songs Ahead of Double Album

Morgan Wallen surprised fans by announcing his 30-track forthcoming sophomore release, “Dangerous, the double album” moments after winning the 2020 CMA New Artist of the Year award. Today, as pre-sales kick-off, Wallen has released three brand new tracks “Somebody’s Problem”, “Livin’ The Dream”, and “Still Goin Down”. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Morgan Wallen Releases Three Brand New Songs Ahead of 'Dangerous, the double album'

Morgan Wallen Releases Three Brand New Songs Ahead of ‘Dangerous, the double album’

Morgan Wallen has been hinting at new music for what seems like the whole year, but recently we learned that the entertainer’s sophomore project is set to be released on January 8th, 2021. Not only will we get a new record in the new year, but it is a double feature, full of 30 brand new songs for fans to listen to. Today, three songs were released as instant gratification tracks off Dangerous, including Wallen’s demo, “Somebody’s Problem,” Still Goin’ Down,” and “Livin’ The Dream.”

Each of the three songs are full of that country-boy charm that we have grown to love from the singer. The first, “Somebody’s Problem” was teased via Instagram, as a demo, back in September. The song is a narrative that is all about a budding new relationship. In true Wallen fashion, the singer will be sure to make fans swoon with his relatable, catchy, and romantic lyrics.

“I think I’m liking where it’s going / I’d like to try me some of somebody’s problem / Somebody’s goodbye / Somebody’s last call number that they can’t find / Somebody’s best day, somebody’s worst night / Somebody’s reason for leaving on the porch light”

We get another taste of the upcoming project with “Still Goin’ Down.” Co-written by Wallen with HARDY and songwriter, Ryan Vojtesak, the track kicks off disc 2 of the double project. Another slower tempo jam, the singer taps into his “Chasin’ You” vibes with this one. Although the song is all about growing up in the country, it truly is a love song to the town that raised him. Like on Wallen’s unapologetic debut single, “The Way I Talk,” he showcases his roots, no matter what anyone thinks.

“I’d be damned if I sound like something I ain’t / Cause for some folks, the backroad gets old, but for me, it just can’t / Cause I’m from a small town, southern drawl crowd”

The third new song, “Livin’ The Dream” is also co-written by Wallen and HARDY, as well as, Ben Burgess and Jacob Durrett. Recently, the entertainer shared a clip of this song on TikTok, telling fans how personal the song is to him. “Never thought I’d release it, but here we are,” he added admitting to personal struggles that he’s been through, due to the fame. Vulnerably sharing struggles with alcohol and his priorities, “Livin’ The Dream” expresses the less glamorous side of success and fame. With this song, Wallen gives fans an honest account of his thoughts and feelings in what seems like a journal entry.

“I don’t ever get nowhere / Signed my life away to be the life of the party / Yeah to everybody else / I look like a rockstar / In and out of cop cars / Living out of a suitcase”

All three of the released songs are exactly what we have come to expect from Wallen. We appreciate his knack for songwriting and vulnerability. Regardless of what he is singing, the entertainer finds a way to connect with fans and makes you want to listen over and over again.

Tyler Hubbard’s Shares New Song “Thank God For Little Girls” in Heart Warming Video

After reuniting with his family after almost two weeks, Tyler Hubbard shares a song with his daughter that he wrote for her in quarantine called “Thank God for Little Girls”. The lyrics are beautiful, but it’s the video of him playing the song to her for the first time that will make your heart smile.

For those who may not know, Tyler Hubbard, of Florida Georgia Line, tested positive for Covid-19 a couple of weeks ago. Luckily, he was mostly asymptomatic and was able to quarantine close to home..on his tour bus in his driveway. While he wasn’t physically with his family, he would see his wife and kids through the windows of the tour bus, from afar in the driveway, and on FaceTime.

Over the 13-day quarantine, Hubbard kept fans in the loop of what his day-to-day consisted of through his Instagram stories, and there was a whole lot of songwriting. In addition to the many FaceTime calls and videos that he and his wife Hayley shared on social media, Hubbard also gave a good amount of teasers for the many songs he was writing on the tour bus from song clips to lyrics. It was clear how much he missed his wife and kids (daughter, Liv and sons, Luca and Atlas) and it seems those feelings inspired some new music.

Today, Hubbard gave fans the biggest teaser yet with a song called “Thank God for Little Girls”, which he wrote with Lori McKenna and Dave Barnes. He wrote the song for his daughter, Liv, and shared a video that his wife took of him playing the song for her for the first time.

You hear Hubbard say “it’s about you” at the beginning of the video. When Liv hears the chorus, she says “my daddy” and touches his face adorably. After hearing the whole song, Liv tells him “I like that song for me, I want to keep it so much…forever and ever.” Not sure what’s more precious, the song, or this video.

In the caption of the post, Hubbard shared “This is one of my favorite moments with her so far. Thanks for capturing it @hayley_hubbard … I’m not crying … You’re crying”.

We hope to hear the full song soon, along with many more from Hubbard’s bus quarantine!

Below are the (partial) lyrics from what was played on the video:

Yeah I used to live for Friday Nights

Pick-up trucks and beer

Hangin out with all my rowdy friends

Was something I held dear

I thought those were the glory days

But now I can’t believe

How my view on life is changing

How much sweeter it can be

I thank God for country music

I thank God for this guitar

I thank God for every friend I got

And fireflies in the dark

But there’s nothing like the angel

That came into my world

And says “I love you daddy”

Thank God for little girls

Yeah now-a-days I hurry home

And run right up the stairs

Just in time to watch her fold her hands

And say them bedtime prayers

She thanks the lord for Mom and Dad

and Grandma back at home

Yeah she’s got her whole list memorized

And I memorize my own

I thank God for country music

I thank God for this guitar

I thank God that I found Jesus

He was right there in my heart

So thank you for the angel

That came and rocked my world

Taught me how to love the father

Thank God for little girls

Kameron Marlowe: Self-Titled Debut EP – Review

Kameron Marlowe’s brand new self-titled EP is available now, November 13th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we recap our first impression of the songs off the new EP.

Kameron Marlowe

Kameron Marlowe EP, out now November 13th

Here at NYCountry Swag, we pride ourselves on truly having an ear for good music and incredible singer-songwriters. We can honestly say that recording artist and songwriter, Kameron Marlowe is the real deal, and it is only just the beginning for the budding star. Marlowe just released his debut major label self-titled EP today, and you are going to want to listen, and listen again!

Beginning with his debut single and solo-write, “Giving You Up,” Marlowe takes fans on a journey through the other side of a breakup when you are finally just about over someone and moving on, and then your ex calls. He sings about putting an end to the back and forth nature of a messy breakup. The song was a hit with fans, garnering over 27 million spins on Spotify, and with its catchy tune and touching lyrics, it is clear why.

“Cause I’m giving you up, just like I did them Marlboro Lights / And I’m giving you up, the same way I did the whiskey on ice”

Marlowe transitions into another relatable song, “Sober As A Drunk.” The song is full of play on words and enticing comparisons, as you navigate the unwanted feelings of missing someone. Although comprised of melancholy lyrics, the singer finds a way to highlight the mid-tempo nature of the catchy tune.

Continuing to tug at our heartstrings and showcase vulnerability, Marlowe emotes on “Goin’ There Today” with one of the best vocal performances on the project. One of our favorites off the EP, the story-telling song walks us through the emotions of a guy trying to stay clear from the person that broke his heart. The title is a way to express avoiding memories that are associated with pain and heartache.

“I sure could go for a cup of black coffee / They serve the best at the corner cafe / But it’ll have to wait ‘cause truth is / I don’t feel like goin’ there today”

On the next song, “Burn ‘Em All,” which was also released earlier this year, Marlowe relates to the everyday man, paying homage to the blue-collar workers and all the hardworking people out there. The track perfectly highlights the singer’s gritty growl and enticing vocals. Similarly, “Hungover,” one of the most upbeat tunes on the EP features killer vocals. This time the singer aims to get away from the heartache by doing what we all have done, drinking. “I’m in the middle of a heartbreak bend,” sings Marlowe in one of the most relatable lyrics there is.

The EP ends with another impressive vocally-driven song entitled “Leavin’ to Me.” On the track, Marlowe pleads with his partner to break up with him. It’s clear that the relationship is toxic, but we all know how hard it is to leave something that we thought would be our forever. This song is just another example of how well Marlowe can emote, sing, and write.

After listening to the six songs off the EP, fans will be able to understand both the type of music that Marlowe makes and his journey to choosing these songs for his record. Laced with songs for the everyday, hardworking fans and breakup songs that everyone can relate to, Marlowe has tapped into a side of country music that all fans can appreciate.

Chris Stapleton: ‘Starting Over’ – Album Review

Chris Stapleton’s new album, Starting Over is available now, November 12th, on all streaming platforms. With eleven songs written by Stapleton and his longtime friends, take a look below as we give our first impression of the album.

Chris Stapleton manages to isolate the exact emotions felt by his listeners while providing comfort in being fully seen by someone and solace that others feel similar. Starting Over captures the timeliness of our current state and simultaneously creates a timeless relic of the truth of our existence. Written beginning in February right before the shutdown, these words surpass the current processing of our situations and in hindsight will epitomize our sentiments.

“Starting Over” kicks off the album with a lighthearted take on beginning anew, much like what many of us had to do recently in all aspects of our life. Whether meant as motivation or just the soundtrack to a new dawn, it initiated the fresh start tone of the album. Stapleton recorded this album back in Nashville, surrounded by old friends and new collaborators, providing the optimal place for a reflection of a journey. The album features his wife, Morgane Stapleton, on background vocals and tambourine, creating an elevated emotional dynamic for the tracks.

“Cold”, one of Stapleton’s early releases, is one of the most iconic songs of the year, in lyrics, tone, and vocalization. Billboard called in “earth-shattering…this is the finest rip-your-heart-out song you’ll hear all day…or any day.” The next few tracks tell happy stories, with a cover of John Fogerty’s “Joy of My Life”, and a tale of picking up a puppy in “Maggie’s Song.” “Whiskey Sunrise” seems to combine the straight tone of some of his iconic songs with the rock feel of some of his newer creations resulting in a masterpiece.

“Old Friends” oscillates between a quiet monologue and a legato comforting chorus, praising the stability and reliability of the people who have always been there for you. “Watch You Burn” takes a sharp contrast, turning anger to those who have hurt others, ensuring they’ll get their turn, and that the Devil will watch them burn.

The heart of country music, Nashville, is the item of homage paid in the closing track, “Nashville, TN.” Though it tells the story of a Stapleton’s relationship to the city, it reflects the growth that anyone has with a place or a time in their life. Whatever it taught you was yours to learn and take with you when you leave, and even though a part of you will still be there, it won’t take what’s left as you say goodbye to those memories and start a new chapter.

Starting Over runs the gamut, commencing with the excitement and possibility of starting over, through all the rough patches that come, and finalizing with the acceptance of the journey. Whether meant as the ultimate metaphor for the acceptance of what is in this and every season in our lives or not, Stapleton continues to exceptionally seize the moment and the ceaseless joys and perils of what it means to live a life.

Stapleton’s “All-American Road Show” tour is planned to resume next year, with very special guests, and a special concert in his home state of Kentucky, benefiting the Blue Grass Community Foundation, focusing on music and arts education.

Thomas Rhett Asks Fans, “What’s Your Country Song?”

Thomas Rhett asks fans “What’s Your Country Song” in new single, after teasing the track on Instagram back in June. The new tune is available now, November 11th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the music.

Throughout quarantine, Thomas Rhett invited fans inside his home and served the treat of brand new music through IGTV. These song releases featured solely the singer-songwriter and his acoustic guitar, creating a deep and intimate connection between Rhett and his fans.

Country music lovers eagerly requested studio versions of the IGTV acoustic songs to be featured on the artist’s next album. The Nashville star listened, and finally gifted fans with “What’s Your Country Song,” as the lead single for his forthcoming fifth studio album. This preview into the singer’s next era of music is exciting for fans, as it signals an album to follow where the singer will be staying true to his country roots while adding a modern, pop twist.

The country star is known for singing about real-life high and low points, whether it be romantically, starting a family, or relating to his career. This established him as an extremely relatable artist. Throughout the single, “What’s Your Country Song,” the singer continues to use songwriting to reflect on different phases of life.

“What’s Your Country Song” contains elements of an instant classic, acknowledging the power of music as a special guiding force throughout one’s life. Ultimately, the song pins the idea that each person can identify a specific “country song” that transports them back to a certain moment in time and carries significant meaning.

Nearly each and every line of the song namechecks special lyrics and titles from familiar country songs that fans often connect to, whether contemporary or legendary classics. These clever and meaningful lyrics along with the calming acoustic guitar picking pattern make for a deeply impactful tune.

In the first verse, the singer-songwriter playfully sings of common country clichés that evoke feelings of freedom and carefree fun.

“Did you cruise down a back road / with your Dixieland Delight / Are you on the Chattahoochee, On a barefoot blue jean night”

He artfully weaves in well-known song titles into the lyrics, making for an especially engaging and memorable song. When it comes to the chorus, Rhett is soulful in the way he ties together the song’s meaning as a whole…

“Everybody got a small town anthem / Everybody got a story to tell / Everybody got a hallelujah / Everybody been through a little hell / When you’re rolling down a little two-lane highway / And you turn your radio on / Tell me which one hits you baby / Yeah what’s your country song?”

He sings about how everyone has their own struggles and life stories, and that country music is a constant that helps carry people through. This chorus leads the listeners to reflect on songs that have been alongside them during significant moments in their lives, both through ups and downs.

Thomas Rhett new song "What's Your Country Song"

Thomas Rhett asks fans “What’s Your Country Song” in new single, available now, November 11th.

The 2020 ACM Entertainer of the Year even takes us back to the 1980s for a particularly clever lyrical spin from Barbara Mandrell’s legendary hit “I Was Country When Country Wasn’t Cool”, “Are you already country / back when country wasn’t cool”.

Listening to this song is like a scavenger hunt, and with each play, there is a new creative lyrical reference to pick up on. The singer’s acoustic song releases through IGTV have been a welcomed surprise to help fans through these tough times of 2020 and we are thrilled that this song signifies even more studio releases to follow.

Seaforth Drops A Catchy New Tune Called “Close Enough”

Seaforth’s New Song “Close Enough” is available now, November 6th. Listen to the catchy tune from the duo here plus learn more as we dig a little deeper into the track.

If you haven’t heard of Seaforth yet, you may start to hear a lot more of them real soon. Last December when we first sat down with the duo, their charming personalities, hilarious banter, and incredible artistry made us love them, and now the country-pop pair, made up of Mitchell Thompson and Tom Jordan, just released their latest single “Close Enough”. This release follows their recent singles “Talk About”, released in September, and “Everything Falls for You”, released this past May.

“Close Enough” is about that one relationship that everyone can relate to. The one where you keep saying you’re going to stop seeing the other person but never seem to be able to. No matter how hard you try to resist, you keep finding yourselves going back to each other. The two may know that they’re not each other’s perfect match, but they’re okay with being “close enough”. They both know that it isn’t a ‘forever thing’, it’s just exactly what they want right now.

“We don’t know what it is / but if this ain’t it / it’s close enough / close enough/ if this ain’t love, it’s close enough”

Thompson and Jordan are life-long friends from Sydney, Australia who moved to Nashville in 2017 to follow their dreams of playing country music together. After being in Music City for a little over a year, they released their first two songs: “Talk to Me” and “Love That”. “Love That” eventually became the title track of their first EP, released in April of 2019, which added two additional songs: “Good and Gone” and “Take Your Picture”.

In 2019, Seaforth were also featured on Mitchell Tenpenny’s hit song “Anything She Says”, which just went Gold last month. This collaboration came from the duo spending much of 2018 and 2019 opening shows and touring with Tenpenny. They’ve also opened shows for Kane Brown, Brett Young, Morgan Wallen, and even two shows for Keith Urban, back home in Sydney in December of 2019. Additionally, Seaforth also made their Opry debut in September of 2019.

Thompson and Jordan describe fellow-Aussie Urban as their idol and the one who sparked their desire to get involved in country music and experience it in Nashville. Urban’s influence helps to explain Seaforths unique sound and their inability to fall into one single genre. Not only do they love the different musical backgrounds that find their way into country music, but they are obsessed with the genre’s story-telling nature.

Just past their three year anniversary of moving to Nashville, Seaforth’s success thus far has not disappointed. Three years of playing shows, opening on tour, writing songs, and even getting a few on the radio has led them to this very exciting time that they are currently in. Country music lovers can expect to hear a lot more from Seaforth going forward.
