Justin Moore Sings “Why We Drink” on The Today Show

Justin Moore Today Show

Justin Moore took the stage of The Today Show this morning to sing “Why We Drink” off his latest album Late Nights and Longnecks released earlier last night. Jenna Bush introduced Moore as, “a country boy who also happens to be a chart-topping country music star.” Moore is no stranger to accolades and success. To date, he has had seven number one songs, three number one albums, and two platinum albums.

Moore, who is a family man and father of four, had his wife and two beautiful girls alongside the stage to watch his performance. When asked what the inspiration was for “Why We Drink,” Moore admitted his mother was the one behind how it all came about. He explained, “We were out to dinner with my wife, and my mom and dad, and after ordering three or four drinks she asked, why do you drink so much?” Moore jokingly said, ‘I ain’t ever found a reason not to!”
.
“Why We Drink” is the ideal drinking anthem. With a ton of twang, an upbeat melody, it is an all-around good time country song. Moore gives us every reason why we’d want to throw one back, singing, “cause it’s Friday, ’cause it’s Monday, ’cause it’s a charcoal burnin’ Sunday, ’cause we ain’t gonna get to one day, that’s why we drink.”

After watching Moore’s energizing performance, it is very clear “Why We Drink” lives up to its title. The applause of the audience along with Bush’s approval saying “You made a pretty good case, lots of reasons why we do it – that was awesome!” is exactly what Moore wanted to accomplish this morning. Check out the performance of “Why We Drink” from Moore’s newest hit album Late Nights and Longnecks below.

Ingrid Andress Makes Her TODAY Show Debut

This morning, one of our favorite rising artists, Ingrid Andress took the stage to perform “More Hearts Like Mine” on NBC’s Today Show. Andress, who was recently named one of CMT’s “Next Women of Country” is capturing the attention of many with her heart-wrenching, raw, and completely honest storytelling. Called a star on the rise, it is truly a breakout moment for Andress performing “More Hearts Than Mine” on the Today Show.

Andress’ lyrics cut you right to the core and hit home touching on vulnerable aspects of life. Paired with her beautiful voice, it makes for a powerful performance. Sitting behind a beautiful white piano, Andress’ authenticity speaks for itself as she sings about falling in love with someone and the family falling in love with their relationship, singing “if we break up I’ll be fine, but you’ll be breaking more hearts than mine.”

When asked about her reaction to being named CMT’s one of the Next Top Artists in country music, Andress’ humbled response was, “I wasn’t expecting it, really, I was like oh that is so nice of them! But here we are, it has been an amazing ride so far.” Andress said she has loved music her whole life but did not realize she would ever make a career out of it, and as a songwriter getting to perform her own songs, she admitted: “It is nice to tell my own story, for sure.” With such a unique and eloquent voice, it comes as no surprise the extremely talented singer-songwriter’s single “More Hearts Like Mine” is the most added to country radio this week. Andress’ storytelling is truly awe-inspiring and refreshing sound to country music.

Maren Morris Takes over TODAY on Album Release Day

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Maren Morris released her sophomore album, GIRL, today, on none other than International Women’s Day. The record is filled with girl-power anthems, funky and unique sounds, and heartfelt lyrics, sure to resonate with fans across all genres. In order to celebrate that milestone, Morris performed some of her hits and new songs on NBC’s TODAY.

In the first segment, the songstress and one of the co-hosts had an important and open dialogue about her journey and International Women’s Day, as well as, introducing a new digital series, sponsored by Citi that both TODAY and Morris are taking part in. The ‘See Her, Hear Her,” initiative will provide up and coming female musicians with mentoring to advance their careers and gender equality in the music industry. Morris has signed on to be a mentor, sharing “Well I am a woman in the industry. Anytime, I can help kinda share some of my light with someone else- I think it’s all about paying it forward […]. I am such a girls girl, this day is already so inspiring. It’s incredible.”

After a brief conversation about the new initiative, Morris was ready to perform some of her songs to an audience full of excited fans, already filling the outdoor Plaza. Beginning with her latest hit and current single, “Girl,” the singer-songwriter mesmerized fans with her vocals and stage presence. Rocking a statement black dress with thigh high boots, Morris outwardly showed her internal strength. Fans were singing along during the entire performance of the sure to be hit.

After a short commercial break, Morris was back with all of the co-anchors of TODAY, where she learned that after just a few hours, Girl already hit the number 1 spot on iTunes all genres chart. A tearful Morris, shared, “Well it [this journey] makes me pretty emotional. It looks so beautiful out here. There’s so many amazing men and women out here celebrating International Women’s Day,” just before singing her next song off the new record “The Bones”. The sassy and honest love song embodies Morris’ unique and inspiring confidence while showcasing her amazing songwriting skills. She made sure to interact with fans, while she sang the lyrics to the new track. Morris ended her early morning performance with her smash hit “The Middle,” which fans and co-hosts alike were clearly loving, as they danced and sang along throughout the song.

Following her whirlwind performance, Morris sat down in the studio with co-hosts, Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones, in a segment called ‘Catching Up With Maren Morris.” Melvin welcomed her back stating, “[Morris] flat out rocked the plaza a few minutes ago.” Throughout the segment, Morris shared her feelings about releasing GIRL, the song-writing process, and her reasoning for releasing, “Dear Hate,” Melvin’s favorite song.

“It feels kinda surreal, just because we’ve been sitting on these songs for so long. I wrote some of them four years ago, so to have them out for the world to consume now, not just for my husband and I listening in our kitchen […]. It’s about having the music out to the fans.” Melvin ended the segment calling Morris “a light,” and encouraging fans to go out and listen to her new record.

Morris embarks on her headlining tour ‘Girl: The World Tour’ tomorrow, bringing fellow female country artists Casadee Pope and Raelynn along for the ride. New Yorkers have two chances to catch the show on May 3rd at Brooklyn Steel in Brooklyn, and May 4th at Terminal 5 in Manhattan.

Back in 2016, singer-songwriter Russell Dickerson performed at New York Country Swag’s very first event at Libration in NYC. Just a year later, he released his debut album, Yours, which continues to garner more and more success. Flash forward to today, earlier this morning, the hitmaker performed his number one hit “Blue Tacoma” on NBC’s ‘Today with Kathie Lee & Hoda’ for the second time in his blossoming career co-hosts Hoda and Jenna Bhager excitedly introduced Dickerson sharing, “Its been a very good year for Russell Dickerson. Tomorrow, Russell hits the road, kicking off his first co-headlining tour, but before he wants to sing for us his hit song “Blue Tacoma” off his debut album Yours,”

Just before the performance, the co-hosts chatted with the singer about his co-headlining tour with country singer Carly Pearce, his inspiration for his famous $6 music video for “Yours,” and of course shouting out his beautiful wife, Kailey. Dickerson shared the sweet sentiment, “From day one, before we had any budget, before we had anything going on – I had her. We shot the ol’ music video for my first single “Yours,” and that’s honestly what kinda put us on the map, and got us started, got us going,” adding later “what a babe,” when the cameras showed his wife. Dickerson delivered a high-energy and entertaining performance of “Blue Tacoma” from the first note. His energy and enthusiasm for performing and his music is seemingly unmatched.

Clearly having fun, the rising country star played with his vocals and his lyrics throughout the entire performance, adding to his lyrics, “It’s right here- baby, on the Today Show.” Check out the full performance above. Dickerson embarks on his co-heading, ‘The Way Back Tour,” with Carly Pearce starting in Cleveland. Jimmie Allen Joins TODAY For ‘Guys Tell All’ and Performs His New Song

Jimmie Allen Today Show

Photo Via today.com

Rising country star and NYCS artist to watch (2018), Jimmie Allen is becoming a fan-favorite on ABC’s TODAY with Hoda and Kathie Lee. The musician has appeared on the television show four times in just the last few months, as both a performer, co-host, and panelist. This morning, Allen was invited back to set to participate in the ‘Guys Tell All‘ segment for the second time and to perform his latest song, “Make Me Want To” off his debut album Mercury Lane.

Once again, the all-male panel consisted of reality star, Ben Higgins, comedian, Chuck Nice, and celebrity gym trainer, Don Saldino. This time around, the men answered questions pertaining to New Years, older women, women proposing, deal-breakers in dating, and much more. Introduced as the “chart-topping single dad,” Allen shared his deal-breaker with the co-hosts and fellow panelists, “My deal-breaker is someone who’s not motivated, someone who’s not ambitious, not chasing anything. No matter what she’s chasing, she has to be doing.” Additionally, the singer-songwriter agrees that women are sexiest in comfy clothes, sans makeup, and just rocking some confidence. Check out clips from the segments here, as well as, the battle of sexes game the co-hosts and panelists played together.

At the end of the segment, Allen took the stage yet again to perform as part of the Citi Concert Series. Hoda and Kathie Lee gave the newcomer a warm welcome, “He spent the entire morning with us, but we could not let one of the hottest acts in country go cause we needed a performance. We’re talking about our friend Jimmie Allen, who had quite the year with the release of his debut album, and his hit single “Best Shot.” He’s treating us to his latest song, it’s called ‘Make Me Want To.’”

Allen shared his inspiration for the song, just before having the time of his life on stage, “So I’m a sensitive guy and I wanted to write a song about seeing a girl at a bar that you like, but also, I’m the one that’s normally catching feelings first […] You’re amazing, I like you, I’m the cool guy, but if I’m being honest it might be too soon to say I love you, but you’re gonna make me want to.”

The singer-songwriter appeared so comfortable on stage, as he belted the lyrics, interacted with his fellow co-hosts and panelists, as well as, showed off some of his signature dance moves. Check out the entertainer’s entire performance here!

Next up, Allen will hit the road on Scotty McCreery’s ‘Season Change Tour.’ The tour makes its way to Long Island, New York in January. Find tickets here.
