Next up, Ratcliff includes New York’s architecture in his #4 pick. “New York is aesthetically beautiful. I love flying into New York. I love seeing New York from all angles.”

“Number three is going to have to be food,” Ratcliff confesses in his number 3 pick. “Specifically, pizza and bagels. New York introduced me to bagels and spoiled me on pizza forever.”

Including walking in his # 2 spot,  Ratcliff adds “I love walking and one of my favorite things about New York is you walk everywhere.”

Ratcliff says, “It’s a tough town and coming from a small town in the South, where Southern hospitality is a huge thing, New York couldn’t be any more different than that. #5 – HARDY was in New York when he was inspired to write “BOOTS”

HARDY kicks off his Top 5 Picks with a big shoutout to his song, “BOOTS”. “I was in New York when I was inspired to write the song “BOOTS” which is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written. I made my girlfriend really mad and she let me sleep in my boots that night and I was in New York City, so that is number five,” he adds.

 

#4 – New York Country Music Fans

Next up, HARDY includes New York Country Fans as his #4 pick. “There are very eager country music fans in New York, so every single time I play New York City I never have a bad show. People are so excited to see us and they show up and they know every word.”

 

#3 – Shopping!

“This might sound crazy, but the shopping in New York is legit,” HARDY confesses in his number 3 pick. “You can find tennis shoes and cowboy boots and stuff in the city that is really hard to find anywhere else and you definitely can not find online.”

 

#2 – The Diversity

Including the diversity in his # 2 spot,  HARDY adds “The energy in the city is really intense, — I love going and visiting because you get to see all of this diversity, all of the entire world, all of this energy in one city, in one neighborhood.”

HARDY’s #1 Pick for his Top 5 Things he loves about NYC in our ‘I Love New York’ Series is: FOOD. HARDY says “I love food. I love Asian food, Mexican food, all kinds of food and you can get any kind of food you could ever imagine in New York City, all within walking distance.

Lindsay Ell kicks off her Top 5 Picks with the getting your nails done at any time, any day. “You can get your nails done anywhere in New York City. There’s pretty much a spot on every single corner. Everywhere is open late, it’s the city that never sleeps,” she says.

Next up, Ell shouts out the food in New York City! “I love a good Milk Bar Store cake. It’s so good, but even just the pizza, the hot dogs, the street meat, it’s all so good.”

Morgan says, “I feel like everyone there is there for a purpose and has dreams and is so driven and you feel that as soon as you land in New York. #5 – Café China, NYC

LOCASH kick off their Top 5 Picks with one of their favorite restaurants, Café China. “Right off the edge of Times Square, it’s the best, you all have to check it out,” Preston of the country duo adds.

 

#4 – Carmine’s, NYC

Next up, Chris of LOCASH takes over to give the next pick. “One of the things we absolutely love to do is walk around Times Square and one of my favorite places to eat is called Carmine’s, right there in Times Square. They took care of me and my little boy and the whole band, so that is one of our favorite places to be when we’re in New York City.”

Next Up, the guys admit one of their favorite things they love to do in New York City is shop. “We are shoppers. We probably love shopping more than our wives, we like to shop. We go to the fashion district and we shop right there in NYC, Fashion District,” Chris tells us.

Chris says, “I’m telling you they have the best restaurants in the world and just the scenery, the eccentric vibe, the Italian vibe, the city vibe it brings. Pulling the special item from his closet to hold up for the camera, Tenpenny says “I’m a huge jersey guy, I collect them all the time and on my very first trip to New York City, I got myself an authentic Ron Dayne jersey. That’s a throwback, baby! If you’re a true New York fan, you know what that is. Cheers, y’all!”

Rich kicks off his Top 5 Picks with The NYC Subway. “I freaking love it, I think it’s such a way to make a massive and incredible city so connected and so easy to get around,” he says.

Rich includes the people of New York as his #4 pick, adding “Everybody is always hustling, on their own grind. Just getting sh*t done and taking over the world one by one. It’s inspiring.

 

#3 – Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom

One of the city’s oldest event and performance venues, The Hammerstein Ballroom, takes Rich’s # 3 spot. “It’s an absolutely beautiful theatre. I’ve not only gotten to perform there now, but I’ve gone to shows there just as a fan of music. The next goal is headlining Hammerstein Ballroom.

 

#2 – The Big Whiskey, Brooklyn

Including his favorite watering hole in the # 2 spot,  Rich adds “The Big Whiskey”, recently changed to “The Grand National”, located in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood. He also includes an honorable mention for another favorite bar, “Rocka Rolla”

Rich’s #1 Pick for his Top 5 Things he loves about NYC in our ‘I Love New York’ Series is: Friends in New York. “I have such an amazing group of friends out there that actually feels like family and anytime I am in New York it truly feels like home because of those people and all of the incredible strangers I always get to meet.”

 

Rich ends the series making a special announcement that fans got to hear exclusively with NYCountry Swag first, The “Feels Like Home” singer teased that he would be releasing an acoustic EP “very very soon”.

I Love New York with Walker Hayes

Our ‘I Love New York’ Series features artists in the country music community taking over our Instagram Story each week to give us the Top 5 Things they love most about New York City.

This week, “Trash My Heart” singer-songwriter, Walker Hayes took over to give his Top 5 Picks in the personalized videos here on Instagram Highlights plus a rundown below.

 

#5 – Broadway

Hayes kicks off his Top 5 Picks with Broadway. “I’ve seen Bruce Springsteen do his thing on Broadway and I’ve seen a lot of the musicals and Broadway shows. My favorite would probably have to be Ragtime,” he says.

 

#4 – 9/11 Memorial

The 9/11 Memorial lands Hayes’ fourth pick calling it, “well done, beautiful, touching, moving, and life-altering.” “It’s just really an exceptional memorial and I think anybody going to New York needs to see that.”

 

#3 – People Watching

Who doesn’t love to people watch? Hayes chose people-watching in his #3 spot, “There’s always somebody up, no matter what hour you wake up. There’s always somebody out doing something,— I love that hustle and that busyness.”

 

#2 – Baseball

We have to agree, there’s not much better than New York baseball. Admitting to being a Braves fan himself, Hayes adds catching a New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox game at Yankees Stadium is one of his favorite New York memories. “It was just phenomenal, — to be around by that many baseball lovers, that diehard…”

 

#1 – Shake Shack

Hayes’ #1 Pick for his Top 5 Things he loves about NYC in our ‘I Love New York’ Series is: Shake Shack. “Every night that I’m in New York, that’s where I end up. That’s where I get my nightcap.”
