We love reminiscing about all the great country music to hit country radio over the last few years. In our brand new series, we’re looking back on the songs that made it to the top of the country airplay charts. Today, we’re highlighting songs in Sam Hunt’s career that hit the number one spot.

“Leave the Night On”- Montevallo, 2014

In 2014, Sam Hunt bursted on to the country music scene with this song that quickly won the hearts of modern-day country fans everywhere. “Leave the Night On” was an introduction into a new style of country music, as well as, Hunt’s signature swagger.

 

“Take Your Time”- Montevallo, 2014

“Take Your Time” was Hunt’s second single to country radio. The mid-tempo ballad with half-spoken and half-sung lyrics continued to catapult Hunt to stardom.

 

“House Party”- Montevallo, 2015

“House Party” upped the ante for Hunt. The song is the third single to head to country radio from his debut record Montevallo. It showcases the fun, party-side of Hunt and his incredible stage presence.

 

“Make You Miss Me”- Montevallo, 2016

One of our all-time Sam Hunt favorites, “Make You Miss Me” is the singer-songwriter’s fourth single to hit the top of the country airplay charts. The song made Hunt the first solo male artist to pull four Country Airplay number one hits from a debut record.

 

“Body Like a Back Road”- Southside, 2018

In 2018, Hunt re-emerged with more new music. “Body Like a Back Road” took the music world by storm, earning its title as Hunt’s most decorated and successful single to date.

 

“Kinfolks”- Southside, 2019

Upon his return to country music, Hunt surprised the world with “Kinfolks.” Released at the end of 2019, Hunt gave country music fans something to be excited about. The nostalgic love song was the perfect song to find its way back up the charts for the singer.

 

“Hard to Forget”- Southside, 2020

Hunt’s single “Hard to Forget,” quietly found its way to the number one spot on the Country Airplay charts. On the single, the entertainer puts a classic country spin on an enticing new song.

 

“Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s”- Southside, 2020

Less than a year after its release, Hunt secured his eighth number-one single on the country airplay charts with “Breaking Up Was Easy in the 90s.” Hunt utilizes his signature ‘talk-singing’ on the track to convey how difficult break-ups are in modern times. This remains one of our favorite Hunt songs so far.

 

“23”- Southside, 2021

Most recently, Hunt’s song “23” hit the top spot on the charts. His first number one of 2022, the nostalgic song captures youth, young love, and a last-taste of summertime perfectly. It is the perfect song to lead us into summer.

 

“Wishful Drinking” with Ingrid Andress

Hunt’s collaborative song with Ingrid Andress, “Wishful Drinking” hit the number one spot in November, 2022. The track, an instant ear-worm is a duet for the ages. he sad-bop highlights the incredible vocal abilities from Andress, while Hunt’s signature sound shines through.
