Here Are All of Kelsea Ballerini’s Number One Songs in Her Catalog
Here are all of Kelsea Ballerini’s number one songs on country radio in her music catalog. The singer-songwriter has five number ones to her name.
We love reminiscing about all the great country music to hit country radio over the last few years. In this series, we’re looking back on the songs that made it to the top of the country airplay charts. Today, we’re highlighting songs in Kelsea Ballerini’s career that hit the number one spot.
“Love Me Like You Mean It” – The First Time
Ballerini’s first single off her debut album topped the charts in July of 2015. Written with Lance Carpenter, Forest Whitehead, and Josh Kerr, this song embodied the feel-good vibe of this era in country music but from the perspective of a female in a time where radio was dominated by men. In fact, Ballerini was the only female artist to have a number one song on radio that year. It was nice to have a fresh face and personality become a force in the genre, and this would be the song to launch her successful career.
“Dibs” – The First Time
Ballerini kept the fun rolling with this next radio single—a tune about her calling ‘dibs’ on a popular guy in town. Ballerini co-wrote this song with Kerr, Ryan Griffin, and Jason Duke, and it hit number one in March of 2016. Again, she and Carrie Underwood were the only female representatives on the chart.
“Peter Pan” – The First Time
Ballerini showed more vulnerability in the next single off her debut album. Written with Whitehead and Jesse Lee, Ballerini sings of a past relationship that failed because the guy she was with never wanted to grow up, like fictional character, Peter Pan.
“Legends” – Unapologetically
“Legends” was the lead single off her sophomore album and was the only song to top the charts from the album. It is a story of love, written with Whitehead Hillary Lindsey. The emotional music video showcases the couple’s journey from first meeting, to marriage, to having their child, to the tragic death of the man. It had a slow rise to the top, released in June 2017, and hitting number in February of the next year.
“half of my hometown” – Kelsea
Probably one of the most special songs Ballerini ever recorded, “half of my hometown” features country icon Kenny Chesney, whom she shares the same hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee with. The song, written with Shane Mcanally, Ross Copperman, Jimmy Robbins, and Nicolle Galyon, discuss how split her town was between staying there forever and moving out the second the graduated high school. For Ballerini, it was her first number one in more than four years.
*While only reaching the number two spot in the US, “Miss Me More” and “hole in the bottle” hit topped the Country Canada charts.
