Friday (July 10), Morgan Wallen welcomed his first child, son Indie Wilder. The singer-songwriter took to Instagram Monday evening to share the news.
“Little Wilder, I’m a changed man. Since you came into the world Friday, I see mine differently now. It’s not just me anymore, and I’m glad it’s not. This year has been the hardest of my life in so many ways, but that’s not what i will remember it by. You are. You are a gift and this tough year just made sense. I’ll be the Dad you deserve as well as the co-parent your mother deserves. Since you were born, I know that every decision I make will be with you in mind. I promise I’ll always protect you, and do my best to be an example of a good, godly man just like my daddy was for me.” Morgan wrote.
He added, “I knew this day was coming when I got to share this news with y’all. And I’m glad that day is here. I didn’t know what being a dad would feel like, honestly have been a little scared. But it’s the coolest damn feeling, and I’m ready for whatever God has planned for me and my little guy. He’s healthy and happy and while I’m typing this I’m getting in the truck to go hold him right now. Thank you for all the love and prayers. Thank you to my friends and family who have called and texted me letting me know how happy they are for me and that I have their support. I can’t wait to see him hook into his first big one.”

Who is Alana Springsteen? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about her journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…
The Beginning:
This week our Swag Spotlight artist is the young, but extremely talented Alana Springsteen. She is a fiery pop-country singer-songwriter, who realized her passion for music at the tender age of 7 years old when she first picked up a guitar. Springsteen was destined to make music for a living and we chatted with the songstress about her blossoming career and her brand new music that we are sure fans will love.
“I’m originally from Virginia Beach, total beach girl,” she begins, “I grew up loving music from a super early age. My dad was always playing music around the house and stuff and both my grandads are pastors, so I grew up in church and I think that’s where my love of music started.” After learning to play guitar from her uncle at seven years old, Springsteen became obsessed with performing, singing the National Anthem across the country when she was just a child.
Around that time, the songstress starting writing her own music and found a love for country music. “I was inspired by a lot of strong, female country artists,” she shares with us, “I listened to Carrie Underwood a ton growing up, Faith Hill, Shania Twain [and] Taylor Swift obviously was one that influenced me just because she was so young and doing it. Just watching her, I was like wow I can do this” Her musical taste has since expanded to the likes of artists like LANY, Sam Hunt, Ariana Grande, and Julia Michaels.
The Turning Point:
As fate would have it, Springsteen was recognized by a music industry executive during one of her anthem performances, and that experience introduced her to the world of Nashville. She signed her first publishing deal at just 14 years old, and soon after that, Springsteen and her supportive family made the big move to Music City.
Flash forward to today, the singer-songwriter finally feels like she has met her people in Nashville, and feels ready to share her music with the world. With a team of people who believe in her vision behind her, the songstress has already released a debut EP, which was well-received, as well as, an incredible cover of ILLENIUM and Jon Bellion’s “Good Things Fall Apart,” and her brand new song “Think About You,” a duet featuring fellow country artist Filmore.
In regards to the former, Springsteen decided to record the song because of how much she loved it. “As soon as it was released, it was my jam for the longest time,” she tells us about the original, adding, “I just started messing around with it- just a guitar, and once I stripped it down, I realized it could totally be a country song because it’s kinda just a story. There are so many word pictures, it kinda takes you on this journey.” Springsteen’s version is heartfelt, vulnerable, and most definitely personifies her vibe.
Today:
“Think About You,” an original, is just as creative and sincere. The song has received love by our home radio station New York’s Country 94.7, as well as, by fans. Interestingly enough, during the writing process, Springsteen did not plan to make this song into a duet, but during the recording process, she was hit with inspiration and asked Filmore to be apart of it. As she shared the story behind the song, the songstress surprised us with an anecdote about how she and Filmore became connected in the first place.
“My dad actually drives for Lyft on the side,” she begins, “He would play [my demos] on loop, while he was driving these people around, he wouldn’t say anything about it, he would just kinda wait for them to notice.” That is exactly what happened one day when her dad picked up Filmore and his friends unexpectedly. Springsteen calls the whole whirlwind experience from that moment until the pair cut the single “an absolute dream.” Not to mention, the song is incredible.
This is just the start for Springsteen, as she is sure to deliver more and more music this year. She has spent years honing her craft and is ready to share her stories and experiences with the world. Before this year is up, she is sure to release more covers and maybe more originals, and of course, as soon as it is safe, she hopes to get a chance to tour again. Lauren Davidson is not a newcomer to NYCountry Swag. She is a local New York City country music artist and was featured as a Swag Spotlight artist back in 2018. Through the years she has opened for countless artists such as LOCASH, Old Dominion, Justin Moore, and more.
The songstress recently released an uplifting single “Compass” and is now back with empowering new single “Find Me.” It’s a self discovery track, a journey of finding one’s self after a relationship. This song validates Davidson’s strength after a relationship with her strong vocal capabilities. It’s a girl power anthem filled with upbeat melodies and enchanting chordal progressions. She sings: “When I tell her what you did she said, “Forget him, it’s his loss” // So I bought another round, bartender pours one shot // Now I’m drinking all alone to someone that I forgot // Didn’t know I was so far gone // ‘Til you were gone and out of scene // Who knew all I’d need was losing you to… Find me”
“Find Me” was inspired about finding myself after a relationship,” said Lauren in a press release. “We all make sacrifices for the ones we love and when that ends it’s really empowering to get reacquainted with yourself and your needs and what you really want.”
The singer + songwriter shared her excitement as well as her thank you’s in her recent Instagram post, “I remember it like it was yesterday – the feeling I had after writing this song with @tommycolecountry – to the first demo with @cristiancamilocastro & watching this baby come to life in the studio with @davericcomusic – I hope you feel some of that magic when you listen !! We consider ourselves at NYCountry Swag to have our finger on the pulse of new music and new talent in the industry. LAKEVIEW, a duo comprised of Jesse Denaro and Luke Healy are another act that we believe has a big career ahead of them. We recently caught up with them for our Swag Spotlight feature, and now we are introducing fans to their brand new song, “She Drove Me To the Bar.”
The Nashville transplants wrote and ultimately recorded the track with Dave Thomson. Although it is a song about drinking to get over heartbreak, the men somehow manage to bring a unique perspective to the lyrics. The title itself is a clever play on words, using figurative language, rather than literal language. In other words, someone’s actions made them want to go to the bar. The men sing the catchy lyric, “She ain’t even in the car, but she drove me to the bar” hooking fans almost instantly.
With the upcoming music video, the men hope to showcase the song through a different lens. “As things unfold this year with the tornado and the Coronavirus, our friend at The Crying Wolf bar was impacted not only financially, but our friend Andrew, some of the people that worked in his bar tragically died in the tornadoes,” they shared with us, “We wanted to show support for tour friends and a city that has welcomed us without asking any questions.”
The trajectory of the music video took a turn, and the men of LAKEVIEW utilized their platform for those affected in Nashville to talk and share about their experiences and how we can all help. “It is going to be a cool opportunity to showcase how these local business owners work so hard to support their communities.”

Swag Spotlight Brinley Addington started playing music when he was very young and has opened for artists such as Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, Chris Young, and more. He penned Tyler Farr’s “I Should Go To Church Sometime” and has released a number of singles including “Come Back” and “Changing My Mind.”
Addington has a lot to say to his ex in his newly released single “Still Not Over You.” He wrote and produced this track and it’s something that everyone can relate to. A lot of people have that one they can reminisce about and Addington sure has some last words to say. The chorus accelerates speed as he sings: “I’m still missing you like crazy // I’m still thinking ’bout you baby // Every night and every day // You know I wish you hadn’t left me // Like you left me when you left me // Baby I was not expecting // Letting go to be this hard to do // I’m still not over you”
The country music singer + songwriter shared on his Instagram, “I wrote this song at my kitchen table one night in April 2016 and feel like it fell through the cracks somehow. The songs I love most are when the singer/writer is just being honest about where they were at a given moment and this is my version of that. It may not a feel-good, summertime jam but it’s as “me” as I know how to be.”

Country superstar, Kane Brown finally dropped his pop-collaboration, “Be Like That” with Khalid and Swae Lee today (July 10th). Fans have been waiting for the official release of this song since videos of him performing this at his shows back in February surfaced the internet. When we saw it live at the Atlantic City stop on his Worldwide Beautiful Tour, he said it would be his next single to pop radio and teased possible guest features. Watch it below:
“Be Like That” is a heavily produced track in which the singer describes his complicated relationship. He hates constantly texting her and thinks he might be better off on his own but at the same time he says he’s not himself without her and he would never be able to move on if they broke up. This is a common scenario that is not often expressed. The usual situation described in country music involves two people who have broken up but after a few drinks, they make an overnight mistake which leads them to evaluate their status. The singer calls attention to what’s going through the mind of someone in that relationship rather than what that person is doing to get over it.
“I might be better on my own / I hate you blowing up my phone / I wish I never met your ass / Sometimes it be like that”
Swae Lee takes the second verse of the song and joins Brown for the third chorus while Khalid, who has joined Brown on a previous song called “Saturday Nights,” takes the third verses and backups the fourth and final chorus. Brown is no stranger to cross-genre productions as he has featured on songs with Marshmello, Becky G, Camila Cabello, John Legend, and more. Himself and rapper, Nelly, who has been featured on numerous country tracks already, will team up for a “Cool Again” remix coming out soon. The Texas-native teased the track on his Instagram page last month.

One may never know from the compelling and professional manner that Laine Hardy exhibited when he won American Idol in 2019, making him the Season 2 winner of the newly-renovated, famous singing competition. He has certainly kept busy with music since his victory just 14 months ago. Since then, he has released three singles, and two of those singles have acoustic versions. “Ground I Grew Up On” and “Let There Be Country” were released just three months ago, and set the record straight on what his home in Livingston, Louisiana means to him.
Now, Hardy continues to shine a light on his roots with a brand new single “Tiny Town”, written by Michael Tyler Spragg and produced by Michael Knox. This song embodies a small, country town where people love their neighbors and home-cooked meals are still in surplus. Down to the last strum of the guitar, “Tiny Town” paints a picture of living with the necessities and appreciating the little things like fishing and crowded chapels.
“Yeah that’s living, living in a tiny town / 9 to 5, on Friday nights wearing Main Street down / Yeah, just living, living in a tiny town / Hardwood floors and liquor stores, letters burning out / What I wouldn’t give right about now / To be back in my tiny town”
The simply beautiful instrumental is stripped down even more so in the acoustic version of “Tiny Town”, which is also available now. A music video for the song is forthcoming which, if it follows in Hardy’s previous approaches, may show off some more of his hometown and Louisiana-style activities.

With the exception of a few remixes and covers, fans of Jimmie Allen have not been given new music since his 2018 debut album Mercury Lane. Still, the “Best Shot” singer has maintained his spot in country music and has developed a devoted community through social media. With his growing fanbase, Bettie James is here to reintroduce Allen in a way that could not have been more anticipated, in the very best way: with a collaborative project.
With six, out of seven, unreleased tracks with entertainers such as Nelly, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, and more, Bettie James works as a mesh of creatively diverse tracks. There are feel-good, powerhouse songs, estranged love ballads, inspirational messages laid over music, and reflective lyrics that contemplate tragedy and, in another production, potential growth.
Bettie James was undoubtedly worth the wait, not only for Allen’s listeners but for country music as a whole. It showcases a grown, matured, and versatile artist who is capable of honesty and vulnerability as well as performing those country music classics that get people moving and grooving. Not only does it provide Allen with a chance to redefine himself in a multifaceted, cross-genre way, but the well-known contributors are able to play with their preferred style of music, too. For instance, “Made for These” practically demands Tim McGraw’s involvement since it walks the same line as McGraw’s 2004 hit, “Live Like You Were Dying”. Additionally, “Freedom Was A Highway” aligns with Brad Paisley’s high-esteemed inclinations to incorporate a dense, electric riff.
Further exploring a mix of genre-bending music from top to bottom, the album kicks off with the infectious and fan-favorite “Good Times Roll” featuring Nelly and ends with the final and seventh track, “This Is Us” featuring Noah Cyrus. Fans got a bit of an early taste for each of these two tracks. While the latter was released on its own in February, Allen also began including a sneak peek of “Good Times Roll” in his live show as early as December 2019. Although, Bettie James in its entirety is a true gift, there are two notable pieces, and it would be a great disservice if “Drunk & I Miss You” and “Why Things Happen” were not specifically given the words, and the space, to officially discuss and acclaim. The former is with Mickey Guyton and the melody practically sends the listener into a dizzying mental state, as if a camera is rotating 360° around an object to cause chaos and confusion. It only adds to the anguish and desperation of the song, though the mixed feelings of honesty battled with alcohol-induced longing creates a conflicted, muddled mental state that allows the track to be what it is. And, it’s great.
“Why Things Happen”, with Charley Pride and Darius Rucker, takes on a more serious route with the lyrics searching for answers as to, well, why things happen as they do. It’s political, without having to get political. And, it’s an emotional, thought-provoking production that tugs at the heart-strings. With Rucker’s natural tremble in his voice and Pride’s established, rough yet muted tone intertwining with each other and echoing Allen, a full-blast exploratory creation is born that leaves us wanting more.
Bettie James is an epiphanic, significant and well-built project from Allen that takes you on a whirlwind of emotions in seven tracks, leaving you dazed and confused, in the very best way.

Every time we write about the powerful female trio that is Avenue Beat, we become more and more in awe of their talent, charisma, and uniqueness. Their song “i don’t really like your boyfriend” went viral on TikTok just last month, and fans begged for the rising artists to release a recorded version, they obliged. Now, Avenue Beat is at it again with another viral song, “F2020.”
Like all of us, Sami, Savana, and Sam have been navigating this pandemic in their own ways. For the songstresses, singing and songwriting seem to have remained their number one coping skill, and we are reaping the benefits. “F2020” is an anthem for this year. The ladies cuss out the year with this necessary, yet pleasing song. The second the beat drops and the chorus hits, you become a full-fledged fan of the song and in turn of Avenue Beat.

The ladies express all the turmoil we all feel about how crazy this year has been so far. Through their catchy, yet truthful lyrics. Furthermore, the fact that they had the courage to release it on their social media platforms, and now obliging fans once again by recording it, just shows how much guts and passion they have for their music and their fans. You’re lying if you don’t think “F2020” is a smash hit. Avenue Beat has somehow found their own lane in music, and we are loving every second of it.

“Why do I, always try, to run away from you?” Brett Eldredge asked on his 2017 self-titled album. At the time, the closer, “Castaway” was the most vulnerable he had ever gotten with fans. On his latest release Sunday Drive, out today, July 10th, Eldredge has stopped running from himself and embraced everything he used to shy away from. Lyrically, sonically and personally, this is Eldredge’s bravest piece of work.
The opener is the overwhelmingly joyous “Where The Heart Is”, co-written by Eldredge, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Tyler Johnson. The acoustic guitar is folksy and the soaring strings and harmonies add an extra layer of depth. “Where’d you lose your sense of wonder? / The firework goin’ off in your head / ’Cause there was a time we weren’t thinkin’, we were flyin’ / We were alive / I wanna feel alive.” Next is “The One You Need” which follows the same energy. It’s in the same vein as “Love Is A Wild Thing” by Kacey Musgraves – it’s ethereal in its sound and lyrically, about finding a love you can trust.
Eldredge collaborated with Ian Fichituk and Daniel Tashian, who are responsible for projects like Musgraves’ Golden Hour, Little Big Town’s Nightfall, and their band, Skyline Motel’s After Dark. “I couldn’t imagine having created this album with anyone other than Ian and Daniel, who are both incredible and so musically inclined,” Eldredge stated in a press release. “I’ve always wanted to have more space for my voice, not only vocally but also lyrically, and they provided a way for me to do that with this beautiful music. Collaborating with them helped take this album to wonderfully different places, introducing me to a unique sound that is unlike any of my other records.”
Songs like “Fall For Me” and “Then You Do” are two of the more starry-eyed, poppy vibes on the project, while tracks like “Magnolia”, “When I Die”, and “Fix a Heart” lean on the Americana/Triple A-side. Eldredge’s love of indie-pop, traditional country, and swing jazz are sprinkled in each song differently. Sometimes it’s through a slide guitar or a brush drum, or through the storytelling and powerful vocal delivery. No matter the track, everything remains cohesive.
“I knew I had to do things differently this time, so I threw caution to the wind and got away from all that I was comfortable with in order to go deeper,” Eldredge said. “I didn’t even listen to the radio for a year because I didn’t want to know what music somebody else was making. Not because I don’t care, but because I had to figure out what I needed to say for myself. By making sure I wasn’t being influenced by anything other than what my heart was saying, I was able to write what I wanted to, which was important. Recording this album ended up being the most powerful thing I’ve ever been a part of.”
“Sunday Drive”, the title track and the only song that Eldredge didn’t have a hand in writing, and closer “Paris, Illinois”, are beautifully cinematic and atmospheric. Eldredge’s love of the blue-eyed soul is at it’s most prominent, and you can hear the emotion in his voice telling the story. “And that’s where I learned it all, from them / To fight, to love, to laugh again / Man, I thought we were only wasting time / Out on a Sunday drive”. Eldredge grew up in a map-dot town, but it doesn’t matter where you’re from or who you are; these stories are universal, and a reminder of how much we share in common. “Paris, Illinois”, is truly a musical moment. The minute-long outro feels like the end of an old-school black-and-white movie, where there’s a convertible going down the road in slow motion. It’s as if the credits are rolling, and you can take in the whole picture that is Sunday Drive. It’s reflective and classic, which is exactly what the album is.
“You have to give yourself permission to do anything in life, to be brave a little bit,” Eldredge explained. “I got to a certain point where I felt like I wasn’t giving enough of myself and it took a lot of self-awareness to finally realize that if I do have more in me, then I’ve got to step up and take that step off the edge.”
Eldredge did more than just take that step off the edge. He opened his heart, jumped, and took a chance that resulted in this timeless album. In 50 years, when people talk about Brett Eldredge, this is the record they’ll remember. It’s not about radio airplay or hit chasing. It’s about taking the long way down a road until you know where you’re going. He held on to these messages and songs for a long time, and it may have taken 7 years and a few detours, but Brett Eldredge has finally arrived.
