Brett Young Lands #1 Song At Country Radio with “Lady”

Brett Young lands the number one song at country radio this week with “Lady,” inspired by his wife Taylor Mills and daughter, Presley. The news comes just days after the singer revealed that their family is expecting baby girl number two, due this summer.

It has been a huge week for country crooner, Brett Young. Not only did Young celebrate his 40th birthday, but he also revealed the gender of his second baby on The Kelly Clarkson Show. On the heels of the news that he and Mills are having their second daughter, the singer also scored his 7th number one single with his song “Lady.” Follow us on Instagram for clips from each of Young’s hits live from New York City back in February 2020.

Serendipitous as can be, it could not be any sweeter for the Young family. Just as his last number one hit, “Catch” was inspired by his life experiences, “Lady” was as well. The song was written for his wife and his daughter. Inspired by fatherhood and seeing his wife as a mother for the first time, “Lady” is one of Young’s most emotive and heartwarming songs to date. It’s obvious why the song connects with so many country music fans.

We first heard the beautiful song back in February 2020 during Young’s sold-out New York City show. Check out the video below of its first live performance before the track was officially released…

“I hope you look just like your momma // And love her like I do // You’ll see close to perfect patience / If you watch her every move // You can always run to daddy // You’ll always be my baby, // but, Look at her, baby girl // And you’ll learn // How to be a lady”

It is even more exciting that the singer will now be able to share this song with his new baby, due this summer. In the five years Young has been in the mainstream country music scene, he has scored hit songs with six out of his seven singles, as well as, garnered a dedicated fanbase across the world.

Congrats to Brett and his team!

Taylor Swift Drops Unreleased “You All Over Me” Ft. Maren Morris

Ahead of Taylor Swift’s new version of Fearless, due out April 9th, Swift is opening up the vault, sharing the previously unreleased track, “You All Over Me” featuring Maren Morris. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Starting out with an acoustic guitar and harmonica, “You All Over Me” takes us back to 2008 country Taylor. Written by Swift and Scooter Carusos, the track focuses on the struggles of moving on after a breakup. Maren Morris joins in on the first chorus and continues throughout the ballad. The two of them together are the perfect blend as they complement each other perfectly on the harmonies.

“I lived, and I learned // Had you, got burned // Held out, and held on // God knows, too long // And wasted time, lost tears // Swore that I’d get out of here // But no amount of freedom gets you clean // I’ve still got you all over me”

The singer-songwriter shared on social media how excited she is to share the songs from the vault with her fans, “One thing I’ve been loving about these From The Vault songs is that they’ve never been heard, so I can experiment, play, and even include some of my favorite artists. I’m really excited to have Maren Morris singing background vocals on this song!”

After the acquisition of her masters by Scooter Braun, Swift announced in 2019 that she was planning to re-record her first six albums revealing earlier this year that Fearless would be up first. The album was first released in 2008 and earned the Pennsylvania native the honor of the most awarded album in country music history.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) will feature five other songs from the vault and we can’t wait to hear them on April 9th. Be sure to check back here for the full album review.

Exclusive Video Premiere: Jennifer Smestad Debuts “Can’t Have Mine”

Jennifer Smestad released her brand new song, “Can’t Have Mine” today, March 26th, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of the lyric video. Check it out below.

Our latest Swag Spotlight artist, Jennifer Smestad, is a brand new talent that is one to look out for. The songstress is an incredible vocalist and even more impactful songwriter and storyteller. After her debut single “Half The Man” went viral, Smestad had big shoes to fill with a follow-up track. Rising to the occasion, today, the RECORDS Nashville artist and songwriter is debuting a powerful new single, “Can’t Have Mine”. Check out the exclusive premiere of the lyric visualizer in the video above.

“Can’t Have Mine” is a song that was intended to be about heartbreak, but what unveiled itself was an anthem for women everywhere. The lyrics convey the message that sometimes you have to walk away from a man who is not worth your time. If you’re ready for something serious and your partner’s desires are not lining up with yours, sometimes it is time to make a difficult decision.

“This is the third night in a row // I’ve stayed up way too late // Hoping this time it’s different // Some things just don’t change // What if I leave // What If I don’t // What if you see when I’m already gone // What if I’m all over your mind // and you let me walk away”

Dazzling in a white sweater and a coral skirt, Smestad meanders in a field as she sings this tune. The vibe of the video matched with the lyrics gives life to the already captivating song. Despite the melancholy nature of the track, the lyric, “You took your time // now you can’t have mine” showcases the hope and control women have over their lives. In this moment, Smestad took back her power, remembered who she was, and gave women everywhere the encouragement they need to live in their truth.

Luke Combs Gives Fans a Taste of Album 3 with “See Me Now”

As Luke Combs prepares for his highly anticipated third studio album, he’s giving fans a sneak peek with new, unreleased track “See Me Now.” Written by Combs along with Ray Fulcher, James McNair, and Kenton Bryant, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Luke Combs continues to prove that we just don’t deserve him. He is a singer-songwriter truly here for the fans, first and foremost. After hinting that album 3 was going to be a good one, Combs surprised fans by sharing a new unreleased track titled “See Me Now” with fans via social media.

Written by Combs along with Ray Fulcher, James McNair, and Kenton Bryant, the heartbreakingly beautiful song is a venerable one for Combs. In the opening verse, the entertainer sings about similarities between himself and a loved one that has passed away. The song continues to unfold into a conversation he would have if he could still talk to that person.

Luke Combs gives fans a taste of album number 3 with new, unreleased track, “See Me Now”

Combs is one of the only artists who can effortlessly write and sing a touching and vulnerable song but can also write and sing a certified jam. “See Me Now” is the former, and honestly it might be one of his best yet.

“If you walked in, pulled up a chair in your kitchen // poured a little somethin’ and sippin’ and said tell me ’bout all the things that I’ve been missin’ // We’d be trashin’ the price of gas land politicians // Put a hurtin’ on that ole Gibson // and I could tell you ’bout all the life that I’ve been livin’ // I’d like to think you’d be the proudest guy in town // I’d like to think you’d be the proudest guy in town // If I could see you, see me now”

If “See Me Now” is any indication of what Combs’ third album will look like then fans are in certainly in for a real treat. We predict another platinum-selling album, and more #1 singles to add to the singer’s already impressive streak of hit songs. The singer seems to be a writing machine lately, and we are here for it! Combs is a bonafide country music superstar.

Maddie & Tae Return with Sassy New Single “Woman You Got”

Maddie & Tae’s new song, “Woman You Got” is available now, March 26th, on all streaming platforms. Written by the duo along with Laura Veltz, Mark Holman, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Just about a year ago, Maddie & Tae released their long-awaited sophomore record The Way It Feels. The record showcased the duo in the best light, proving that they are truly ready for greatness. Now, months later the singer-songwriters return with their first release of 2021, a brand new single titled “Woman You Got.”

Teasing the song on social media, the ladies dedicated “Woman You Got” to “all [the] self-aware queens out there.” Just that mere sentiment alone was enough to get us excited for its release. The new song is a sassy, mid-tempo jam all about owning who you are. Maddie and Tae share their flaws in such a way that feels both confident and self-assured. The song is an inspiring love song that feels deliciously Maddie & Tae.

“I talk smack // I make messes // I win bread // I’m kinda selfish // Don’t trust // Me in the kitchen // Don’t dare me // I ain’t chicken // You say you love me I know you love me // love that you love me baby // I know you know me but if I know me // I’m gonna drive you crazy”

Although the past year was not what the duo hoped it would be in regards to touring and celebrating new music, 2021 is looking promising for the singers. With a dedicated fanbase behind them, a firm foundation holding them up, and incredible talent, this is only just the (new) beginning for Maddie & Tae!

Jackson Michelson’s “Tip Jar” is available now, March 26th

Written by Michelson with Patrick Mencel and Justin Morgan, “Tip Jar” is a song about using a night out with some live music to get over a break-up. After his girlfriend ends it over a phone call, he tells her to keep his records, because he doesn’t want to listen to any music that’s going to remind him of her anyway. Instead, he heads to the bar and keeps throwing 20’s in the band’s tip jar so they’ll keep playing songs all night long and help him create new memories to in an effort to forget about her.

This song is all about losing yourself in a night out, having a good time singing and dancing to music, and worrying about everything else later on. In a recent press release, Michelson shares that “Tip Jar” is one of the most ‘me songs’ he has ever released. He adds that he feels we need fun new music now more than ever this year, and that’s exactly what “Tip Jar” is.

“I’ll toss a 20 in the tip jar // I gotta keep ‘em playing all night long // Tell all my buddies I won’t miss her // If I just keep ‘em playing all our songs // Ain’t reckless behavior, I gotta replace the // Memories we made here in this bar // And if the band can fix my broken heart // I’ll toss a 20 in the tip jar”

Carrie Underwood’s Gospel Album ‘My Savior’ is Here

Carrie Underwood has released her very first gospel album titled My Savior today, March 26th. Co-produced by herself and longtime collaborator, David Garcia, Underwood brings her powerful voice and delicate delivery to the record which features 13 Christian music covers. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the project.

Carrie Underwood’s gospel album, ‘My Savior’ is available now, March 26th

Underwood is undeniably the reigning “queen of country music”, a title well-earned after having tremendous success in the industry. Her achievements include 27 number-one hits, seven platinum/multi-platinum records, and over 100 major awards (seven of which are GRAMMYs). Raised Catholic in the small town of Checotah, Oklahoma, her faith has always been a huge part of her life and career.

Underwood’s musical catalog contains crossover hits such as “Jesus Take the Wheel,” “Something in the Water,” and many others, along with her latest Christmas album, My Gift, which was more faith than commercial-based. With My Savior, the songstress continues to show her flexibility in music.

“Hymns and gospel music shaped me as an artist,” she explained in a recent press release. “They are the foundation of my career. This music isn’t about being on stage in front of a crowd; it’s about singing for the love of God.”

Underwood selected songs that she grew up listening to in church and at home, such as Fanny Crosby’s “Blessed Assurance” and Will Thompson’s “Softly and Tenderly.” NEEDTOBREATHE’s Bear Rinehart provides backing vocals in her cover of Robert Lowry’s “Nothing but the Blood of Jesus,” and 12-time GRAMMY award-winning gospel artist, CeCe Winans is featured on “Great is Thy Faithfulness.”

“CeCe is legendary, and I’ve always admired her,” she admits. “It’s similar to the way I feel about Dolly Parton. I don’t remember the first time I heard her; I just feel like I’ve always known her.”

Although she decided to go in a different direction with the genre of this album, she didn’t forget to incorporate her Nashville roots. Several of the songs, especially “Victory in Jesus” and “Old Rugged Cross,” contain a heavy amount of banjo and steel guitar, giving it a traditional sound that is not prevalent in modern country.

Underwood’s powerhouse vocals are displayed in tracks such as “Because He Lives” and “How Great Art Thou.” The album closes with the widely covered anthem, “Amazing Grace,” first written by John Newton.

Underwood’s talent, versatility, and immense stardom has led to her charting on country, pop, holiday, and Christian radio. In what was a difficult 12 months for most, her goal was to spread some positivity in time for Easter through the grace of God.

“It just feels so good to get to sing these songs, and I feel so fortunate to have spent the past year with these beautiful, inspirational messages,” she said. “I hope people will hear the heart that’s in this album.”
