Sean Stemaly Drops Sexy Single, “Come Back To Bed”

Sean Stemaly

Back in October, Big Loud Records’ newcomer, Sean Stemaly fired up fans in New York City, during label mate HARDY’s debut headlining tour. We knew then, that the singer was one to look out for. He continues to build his momentum and his portfolio, releasing his third new song today, entitled “Come Back To Bed,” with a fiery music video to go along with it.

The country crooner lets his twangy vocals take over from the very beginning of the catchy love song. He sings about loving a girl and not wanting her to leave his side or his bed. It’s sensual, sexy, and romantic, all wrapped up in relatable lyrics and a smooth delivery. The music video, directed by Jocelyn Cooper, conveys the message of wanting your partner even more with its charming scenery and of course, the relationship between the love interests.

“Come back to bed / Baby don’t leave / If I said I need your body would you hold it against me / Don’t open the blinds / Lets hit rewind / Take our time / Re-living every single minute of last night”

The “Back On A Backroad” singer knows who he is and what type of music he wants to share with the world. We are sure fans are going to keep gravitating towards his charm and charisma, and are excited to continue to champion his new music.

Stemaly will continue to play shows across the United States, including playing at major music festivals like Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale.

To keep up with Sean Stemaly follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Kelsea Ballerini Releases Vibrant Drinking Song “hole in the bottle”

Kelsea Hole in the Bottle

It’s a crazy season for new music, and Kelsea Ballerini is spearheading it, preparing to release her third studio album, kelsea, out March 20th. Ahead of its release, Ballerini surprised fans by releasing “hole in the bottle”, first heard at Amazon’s “Country Heat” CRS showcase. It’s a fun, vibrant drinking song that shows off her songwriting chops as well as her vocals.

“hole in the bottle” was written by Ballerini, Hillary Lindsey, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley, and Steph Jones. The song begins with a clever sample all about alcohol. “There are many people who drink in moderation with no problems, social, moral or medical,” a woman’s voice says. “They learn to enjoy liquor without letting it upset the functioning of their body and mind.” Ballerini concludes, “I just had one sip!” and laughs as the beat drops and the guitar starts sliding and the drums start slapping.

Lyrically and melodically, “hole in the bottle” is smart and catchy. It’s easy to start singing along to, and the words prove that Ballerini isn’t afraid to have fun and she doesn’t always take herself too seriously. In the first verse, she describes going out to forget an ex and let go. “The way it looks / ain’t what you think / This cabernet has a way of vanishin’ on me,” she sings casually. Part of what makes this song so enjoyable is how ear-pleasing it is. Melodically, it hits each note you want it to, but lyrically, you don’t necessarily know where it’s going to go. “There’s a hole in the bottle / Leakin’ all this wine / It’s already empty and it ain’t even suppertime,” she sings on the chorus nonchalantly. At the very end of the song, the sample returns, simply saying, “She has abused her system and she’s paying for it.” It sums up the whole song perfectly and makes Ballerini seem just like anybody else: someone who sometimes gets lost in a wine glass.

The production on this song is unlike anything fans have heard before. Ballerini produced it with Frasure, and they created this neo-country-pop jam, making it sound new and vintage at the same time. The electric guitars have honky-tonk undertones that make it sound tipsy, which plays on the lyrics perfectly. It’s an ode to tradition as well as the new country generation that Ballerini is a part of.

Ballerini has released a diverse range of singles leading up to the release of kelsea, but they all cohesively follow a theme of self-awareness. The nine remaining tracks are out March 20th, and the album is available for pre-order now.

To keep up with Kelsea Ballerini, follow her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Make sure to check out kelsea, out March 20th.

“hole in the bottle” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

NYCS First Impression: Trea Landon ‘Dirt Road Dancin’ EP

Trea Landon Dirt Road Dancin

Back in November when we were in Nashville for the CMA Awards during the Warner Music Nashville showcase, we got a little taste of up and coming country artist Trea Landon but now his full EP Dirt Road Dancin’ is here, and we can’t get enough.

This EP takes you on an emotional relationship journey starting from the very beginning. “Get the Girl” is figuring out how to make that first move when that special person you’re into isn’t a fan of flowers or the standard pickup lines. We then move on to the singer-songwriter showcasing the unique way you will feel if you are ever loved by a country boy and why it’s one of the best choices you’ll ever make. Next up is heading out on that first date dancing the night away, ending unfortunately with a breakup with “Wrong Truck.”

Two songs that really stand out are “Dirt Road Dancin’” and “What Feelin’ Good Feels Like.” Written by Landon, Rob Hatch, Justin Wilson, and Blake Bollinger, the title track will have you up and moving as soon as you turn it on. “What Feelin’ Good Feels Like” is the perfect song to turn on when you need a minute to relax. Written by Landon, Danny Myrick, and Bryan West, this track shares the message that it’s okay to take a break from all the noise and take a minute for ourselves.

Dirt Road Dancin’ is Landon’s first Warner Music Nashville EP. The singer-songwriter co-wrote four of the five tracks. In a recent press release, Landon expressed his excitement of showing the listeners who he is, “Dirt Road Dancin’ is a pretty good sample of everything that makes me who I am. It’s everything that makes a country boy, a country boy. Long drives, late nights, field parties, and falling in love. I’m excited for fans to get to know me better and have fun doing it.”

This may be the Georgia native’s first EP produced by a label but he is certainly making a name for himself in the industry. He was recently named a ‘MusicRow’ “Next Big Thing” and one of ‘Sounds Like Nashville’s’ “20 New Country Artists to Watch in 2020.” Recently touring with Riley Green and Jon Langston, building up his fanbase across the country. In just a few days he will be heading on the Down to Earth Tour with Hardy and Cole Swindell. To find out if they are coming to a city near you, check out his website.

To keep up with Trea Landon follow him on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

Dirt Road Dancin’ is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

NYCS First Impression: Hailey Whitters ‘The Dream’

Hailey Whitters

Back in September, rising singer-songwriter and former Swag Spotlight artist, Hailey Whitters released her EP The Days, a project that featured six of the songstress’ most profound songs. Flash forward to today, the undeniably talented singer dropped her full-length debut album, The Dream, which combines her EP with five other honest, authentic, and inspiring songs.

The record begins with her prolific single, “Ten Year Town,” a song that paints the picture of what it was like for Whitters, as she was trying to figure out if she should continue to try to ‘make it’ in Nashville. Written with the exceptional Brandy Clark, the track is one that will be a staple for Whitters for a long time coming.

Another song that is arguably the best on the new project is the previously released “Janice at the Hotel Bar.” Reminiscent of Lori McKenna’s awe-inspiring, “Humble and Kind”, Whitters combined forces with McKenna to express a real-life tale about an encounter with a wise woman named Janice. The song offers advice on how to live a good life, suggesting simple lessons like “get on the pill if you ain’t ready to start a family” and “make good love, good company.”

As soon as the song was released, fans took to it, and lifestyle blogger and local Nashville businesswoman and personality, Lanydn Hutchinson (Living with Landyn) who originally met Janice and told her story, started encouraging her followers to tag #WomenLikeJanice on whoever inspired them the way Landyn was inspired. Those photos made it into the lyric video below.

Whitters’ shared in a press release, “We get so consumed with the next achievement and accomplishment […] and what’s next that you forget something you’re living right now,” adding, “don’t forget this is also the dream.” We wonder if this revelation had anything to do with what she decided to call the album.

The songstress continues to remind us to be appreciative of life’s little moments in “The Days,” while expressing her truth in the breathtaking “Loose Strings,” a song about both love and loss. In “Heartland,” Whitters once again sings about life not going the way she thought it would, but alas, she knows she can always fall back on her Midwestern roots. “Heart – land in the middle of nowhere.”

The record also features “Happy People”, a song that Whitters wrote and was recorded by Little Big Town on their album, The Breaker. This new version is a mid-tempo jam that is laced with authenticity, gritty lyrics, and a traditional-country rooted instrumental. It focuses on the simple, yet complex concept of happiness and how to obtain it. Whitters’ sings “You are never gonna be it / By taking someone else’s away / Never take it for granted / You ain’t gotta understand it / But here’s to whatever puts a smile on your face / Whatever makes you happy, people.”

Like in the slow-jam “Red Wine & Blue,” Whitter’s relies on a sultry vocal with bluesy instrumentation to convey the message of her rendition of Chris Stapleton’s “The Devil Always Made Me Think Twice.” On the other hand, “All The Cool Girls” portrays a secretly vulnerable character, a character that many girls can relate to in today’s day in age.

Finally, the record closes with another standout on the project, a song entitled “Livin’ The Dream.” Whitters inspires people to look at every step, every trial, and every hardship as part of ‘The Dream.’ For the songstress, her grind in Nashville, which included waiting on tables and living in a small apartment are all important parts of her journey, her story, and ultimately, her dream.

“Oh the one thing I’ve learned is that the world keeps on spinning / Love is the only thing that makes it go round / I’ve given it all with the time I’ve been given / I’m out here livin / Yeah we all just livin / The dream”

Whitters is an artist that is done trying to fit whatever mold the industry tries to push female singers into. She wants to introduce her fans to real her, which means conveying her truth and open dialogue in her music. Her artistry rivals that of any established superstar in country music, but it is her infectious vocals, stellar songwriter, and pure talent and perseverance that is going to take her far. Congratulations to Hailey on making ‘The Dream’ a reality.

The Dream Tracklist:
1. “Ten Year Town”
2. “The Days”
3. “Red Wine & Blue”

Throwback Thursday – 10 Toby Keith Songs You May Have Forgotten

 By Michal Pietrzak

Toby Keith is many things, he’s a singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, patriot, and a great entertainer. He’s released 19 studio albums, 200+ songs. Like life, his songs vary from love records, through sad and funny to beer drinking and partying tracks.

Keith recently announced his 2020 tour called Country Comes To Town which starts in late March and ends in early September.

He’s given us many great and well-known songs like “Red Solo Cup”, “American Soldier” “Should’ve Been a Cowboy”, “As Good As I Once Was”, “How Do You Like Me Now” and many more but do you remember songs like “Victoria’s Secret” (you might), “New Orleans”, “Just The Guy To Do It” or “Mama Come Quick”? Let’s take a look back at some of his lesser-known tracks.

10. “Mama Come Quick”  – No matter how old you are, when things go wrong you always turn to mom for help, advice or words of understanding. Parents are the only people who love you unconditionally. This is a perfect song for Mother’s Day. “Mama come quick I think I fell/ And hurt myself again/ Mama come quick you know too well/ How much I still depend on you”

9. “New Orleans” – Life writes the best lyrics and this record proves it. It isn’t just a song it’s four verse story about love with a happy ending. Life isn’t always easy, sometimes you have to cut yourself off from troubled past, move on and find happiness. A little act of kindness can alter your whole world and make you feel better. “She was obviously lost but too afraid to ask directions/ So he offered her a smile and a stick of Beech-Nut gum/ He said where you headed to girl, where are you coming from/ She said/ New Orleans but that’s another story/ New Orleans that’s another time/ That’s another town, That’s another life”

8. “Life Was a Play (The World a Stage)” – Live life to the fullest, party hard and be careless, sounds like most of the teenager’s motto. What’s Toby Keith’s advice? “Thought breakin’ rules was bein’ cool/ It’s clear to me now I was a fool/ I still make a mistake or two/ Looking back on my younger days/ Life was a play and the world a stage”

7. “She’s Perfect” – Everyone makes mistakes, some of them are harmless, some of them may be heartwrenching. From time to time even unintentionally you might be the cause of another’s sadness. “It might appear to you she’s broken/ By the teardrops in her eyes/ But there’s nothing wrong with her, she’s perfect/ I’m the one who made her cry/ There’s nothing wrong with her, she’s perfect”

6. “Ain’t No Right Way” – One of the most thought-provoking Toby Keith songs, it’s about morality, making difficult choices, the thin line between right and wrong. It really makes you wonder what would you do in situations described in the song. “There is no right way/ To do the wrong thing/ You can justify/ But it is still black and white/ Paint in any shade/ But it would not change/ There is no right way/ To do the wrong thing”

5. “Victoria’s Secret” – No, it’s not a song about Victoria’s Secret Angels, it’s a lot deeper than that. Being appreciated and loved by your partner helps you make it through the day. When you aren’t, you might seek consolation in someone else’s arm. That why only Toby knows Victoria’s secret. “Seems she’s always and the run/ And she gets so lonely it tears her in two/ That’s when she does what a woman must do/ And I’m the only one who knows Victoria’s secret”

4. “Haggard, Hank, and Her” – Being torn apart between love is not so unusual. Someone can make you miserable and hurt but a tiny part of you still loves that person. “Nobody thrills me/ Nobody chills me/ Nobody kills me/ Like Haggard, Hank and her”

3. “Last Living Cowboy” – Positive vibes, foot-tapping rhythms, and nicely crafted lyrics make it a good country song. As you might assume it’s a story about the last true cowboy who remembers good ole days when the world was a better place. “You’ll find him down on Main Street. That’s where he likes to walk/ It’s worth the price of admission just to hear that old man talk/ He’s the last living cowboy in this town.”

2. “I Know She Hung The Moon” – Having someone special is the most wonderful thing in a world. Catchy chorus will make appreciate this song. “You don’t have to tell me she’s beautiful/ You don’t have to say things like one-of-a-kind/ You don’t have to wonder if she loves me man/ I know that’s crossed your mind/ Seems like everywhere we go/ There’s always somebody staring at her/ Yeah, I know she hung the moon/ I’m the one that held the ladder”

1.“Just The Guy To Do It” – A bit funny and beautiful, definitely a great song to cheer you up. Easy-going tunes quite similar to Jimmy Buffett’s songs make it even better. When you think about it’s lyrically kinda similar to Jon Pardi’s “Tequila Little Time”. “Do blondes really have more fun?/ Or they just easier to spot in the dark?/ Girl, I’m just trying to cheer you up/ I saw you sitting over here all alone/ With a broken heart.”

Compared to 27 years in the music industry and 19 released studio albums a list of 10 songs seems like a drop in the ocean. Picking less known but still good songs was an easy task but narrowing it down to just 10 tracks was way harder.

To keep up with Toby Keith follow him on  Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

The Country Music Community Supports St. Jude ‘This Shirt Saves Lives’

St. Jude This Shirt Saves Lives

NYCountry Swag’s Christina Bosch & Stephanie Wagner

Over the past few months, we are sure that you have seen celebrities and artists posting on their social media pictures wearing their “This Shirt Saves Lives” t-shirt which goes along with the Country Cares campaign for St. Jude. Today is New York’s Country 94.7’s Radiothon where they continue to help to spread the word about St. Jude and the ways in which you can help! For more info about these two special days, click here.

St. Jude, located in Memphis Tennessee is a research hospital for children battling cancer and other deadly diseases but the most special part about the organization is, they will never send a family a bill for their medical care. Families receive the best care in the country, at no cost, making the worst and darkest days of their lives a little bit brighter.

Not only is St. Jude currently taking care of patients within its own doors but its research facility and labs are open 24/7 and freely share their findings with hospitals and doctors across the country. They are working towards a world where no family ever has to hear the words “you have cancer”.

30 years ago, Randy Owen from the band Alabama stood up during Country Radio Seminar in Nashville and asked his friends, colleagues and radio partners to join together to help St. Jude and the children they serve, and so, Country Cares was born. To learn more about Country Cares and Jessica Turri, a main component in their story recently, check out our Woman of the Month feature.

It costs over a million dollars a day to operate St. Jude each and every day. Donations are what keeps the incredible organization helping children suffering. To donate and get your own “This Shirt Saves Lives” t-shirt head to www.stjude.org.

#WeTheFans: The Artists & Songs That Made You A Country Music Fan

Florida Georgia Line

We believe that the country music genre has the best fans in the world. Being a New York based outlet, we love representing all things country music in the Big Apple, but last week, we asked YOU, the fans, what song or artist made you fall in love with the genre.

Interestingly enough, we have an eclectic group of fans out there! Some of y’all fell in love with 90s country music, while others got hooked on the more modern-day sound. We are proud of the inclusive representation of songs that were shared as the songs that made you a country music fan.

Take a look below at some of our favorite responses!

  1. Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean & Florida Georgia Line.

Like our founder, Stephanie, some of you guys became country music fans because of Mr. Luke Bryan himself. Rebecca M. credits “Crash My Party” as the song that made her a fan of the genre, while Rachel G. shared the love for Bryan! Scott G. credits “Night Train” by Jason Aldean as the song that made him a fan back in 2013, during a trip to Nashville. Of course, the smash hit, “Cruise” by FGL was also a song that many of you identified as a favorite too! For Gayle W. though, “H.O.L.Y.” put country music on the map for her, when she was listening to a music channel on television.

  1. Dolly Parton, Reba & Trisha Yearwood

We love that some of the badass women were some of our followers’ first introduction to country music. Douglas S. was introduced to classic country music by his grandparents, but Reba’s “Whoever’s In New England” was what got him hooked. Toni B. and Angela O. chose “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You” by Parton as their favorites, while Nickole H. went with Trisha Yearwood’s number one single, “She’s In Love With The Boy.”

  1. George Strait, Alan Jackson & Garth Brooks

These are arguably some of the biggest names in country music. These classic artists were among some of our follower’s favorites that made them a country fan. Most of you couldn’t choose a specific song by the three, like Dina N. who credits “everything Garth!!” Some of you were able to identify a song, such as “Friends In Low Places” and “Shameless” by Garth Brooks, which both Brenda M. and Urs U. shared as their favorite, while Stacey S. chose “I Cross My Heart” by the King of Country himself, Mr. George Strait. As far as Alan Jackson goes, Matthew W. fell in love with the solemn “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning).

  1. Kenny Chesney, Lee Brice & Eric Church

When Alexis M. was just eleven years old, she fell in love with “Lightning” by Eric Church and the rest was history. For Nicole S. and Justyna K., Lee Brice’s music was their favorites. Songs like “I Don’t Dance” and “I Drive Your Truck” were among some of the favorites. No surprise here, Kenny Chesney was a favorite by a few of our followers. His songs “Young,” and “She Thinks My Tractors Sexy” made the cut.
