Dylan Scott Brand New Song “New Truck” + Exclusive Interview

Dylan Scott’s brand new song “New Truck” is available now, July 23rd on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

On the heels of earning his second number one single with “Nobody,” Dylan Scott is ready for the next chapter in his blossoming career. With a promise of a new record coming soon, Scott debuted a brand new song. “New Truck” is officially out now.

The catchy new song was written by incredible singer-songwriters, HARDY and Hunter Phelps with top songwriters Ben Johnson and Ashley Gorley. As soon as HARDY sent that track over to Scott, he knew he wanted to cut it. Ironically though, the singer sharedin our recent interview, “When I’m listening to music, I’d rather not know who the songwriters are at first listen,” in order to give a fair chance to all the budding songwriters.

“I was gonna drive it // Till the wheels fell off // Yeah that was before she slammed the door // Said it’s over then got lost // I need one she ain’t climbed up in // That ain’t played her favorite songs // Need some glass that we ain’t fogged up // that her barefoot ain’t been on”

The song portrays a break-up in a new and interesting way. “I was in the truck when they sent it to me,” shares Scott in an exclusive interview with Country Swag. “It’s an uptempo breakup song.” The singer went on to share, “It’s basically about this guy and this girl, they break up, still every time he hops into his truck, he finds that memories of her pop up in his head.” From the start, Scott knew how relatable the song would be to his fans, and we could not agree more!

As far as what fans can expect, the singer shared that a new album is on the horizon. “We did a lot of writing and recording during quarantine,” shares Scott, adding “It’s more of what I’ve done in the past, but at a more mature level and I think the lyrics reflect that.”

“New Truck” is country music’s first taste of what the singer has up his sleeve and Scott shares that we can definitely expect a new full-length album soon.

Drake Milligan: Self-titled EP – Review

Drake Milligan’s self-titled EP is out today, July 23, on all streaming platforms. The project is produced by country legend Tony Brown and Brandon Hood, and features five new tracks co-written by Milligan. Check out the brand new music and our full review below, but first, visit the link below on Instagram to enter to win a personalized video message from the budding star!

From the opening notes of Drake Milligan’s debut EP it’s clear there’s something different about the 23-year old country crooner. The Texas native isn’t leaning into popular trends here, but is instead embracing a sound that can be best described as “old school in a new way.” Joining a class that includes the likes of Midland, William Michael Morgan, Josh Turner, and Mo Pitney, Milligan is putting a modern spin on country music that has a more traditional sound.

Recently signed to BBR Music Group/ Stoney Creek Records, the EP marks Milligan’s first release of original music. The singer-songwriter moved from Fort Worth, Texas to Nashville at the age of nineteen and has spent the last four years honing his craft alongside some of Music City’s biggest names. “The greatest pleasure of creating this EP was getting a masterclass in country music from the best songwriters, musicians, producers, and engineers that Nashville has to offer,” says Milligan in a statement. “I hope y’all will have as much fun listening to these songs as I had making them!”

The EP, produced by country icons Tony Brown and Brandon Hood, opens with “Over Drinkin’ Under Thinkin’,” a classic-sounding country drinking song. With twangy fiddle and mid-tempo country guitars, Milligan sings of the chaos that happens in a honky-tonk when the crowd’s got one thing on its mind.

“Don’t Look Down” is a romantic ode to getting lost on the dancefloor with someone special. Musically, the track has a swinging tempo, slide guitars, and an almost ethereal sound as Milligan sings of being “in love with the rhythm of holding you girl.” He invites her to enjoy the special moment, “Don’t look down // Just keep your eyes on me,” he implores his dance partner. “I wanna be all you see // While we’re spinning around.”

“Kiss Goodbye All Night” continues the theme of enjoying and savoring a special moment, showing Milligan’s fun side. The music and tempo is reminiscent of Josh Turner’s “Why Don’t We Just Dance?”, and the song is pure country fun. Milligan shines on this flirty ode to a night that turns into morning. “Let’s just kiss goodbye all night,” He sings with a swagger that convinces the listener he isn’t often turned down. “And kiss a little more in the morning.”

Milligan shows his softer side on “She,” a sparse yet beautiful song about one special woman. “She walks in a room // And turns every head on a dime // She’d be something to lose // She’s nothing like you’ll ever find // She’s so beautifully beautiful as can be // And I can’t believe that she’s mine,” he croons. “Oh I wish that she // Could see what I see.”

The EP ends with “Sounds Like Something I’d Do,” a driving up-tempo about the lengths a man will go when he’s in love. While Milligan is a true storyteller on the slower songs, he also excels on songs like this that allow him to show his fun, young, and quick-singing side.

On his debut EP, Drake Milligan perfectly introduces himself to the country music world in a way that’s unique and different. He proves that you don’t have to be old to embrace tradition, managing to put a modern spin on the genre that’s sure to endear him to listeners of every age.

Check back on Monday, July 26th at 7:30PM ET for an exclusive interview and performance from Drake Milligan live from New York City, on our Facebook Page.

Jason Aldean Earns 25th #1 Song with “Blame It On You”

Jason Aldean earns 25th number one (#1) song with “Blame It On You.” The single is officially the top song at country radio.

Fans of Jason Aldean have nothing to worry about! The superstar has been a mainstay in country music for fifteen years. Last October, his radio single “Got What I Got” earned him his 24th career number one song. Today, Aldean adds “Blame It On You” to his impressive catalog of hits.

“Blame It On You” is officially the singer’s 25th number one single. The song is the third single from Aldean’s ninth studio album, 9. The heartache song is all about recognizing your wrongdoings in a broken relationship. It is nice to see an admittance of guilt in a country song. It showcases the gamut of emotions in a breakup.

“I could blame it on the whiskey // I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t even miss me // Gave you a million reasons girl not to be with me // Should’ve never let you goo // Should’ve never watched you go // I could blame it on a good high // Let it take the blame for why you told me goodbye”

It will be interesting to see what Aldean has coming down the pipeline for his 10th studio album. In his career, he has already surpassed artists like Reba McEntire and Kenny Chesney, who have 24 and 23 number ones respectively. Congrats to Jason Aldean and his team on the number one!

Who Is Drake Milligan? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Drake Milligan? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

The Beginning:

We love sharing new artists that we believe in with you all! Today, we get to introduce singer-songwriter, Drake Milligan. The rising new artist is hard to not love! With music coming out this week and a true love for music, Milligan is an artist that will appeal to fanbases across the country genre.

Growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, music was definitely a part of the landscape of the singer’s childhood. “My first introduction to music was probably my dad’s records,” he tells us. “He would always have some great CDs in his car. Alan Jackson records of course.” Milligan’s father introduced him to traditional country artists that remain a staple in his influences today. The artist credits greats like George Jones, Merle Haggard, and George Strait as some of his top picks in the country realm.

Milligan fell in love even more with music in general, when he was just a young kid. “At 7 years old, I discovered Elvis,” he begins, “I learned all I could about music and decided I wanted to be an entertainer like him.” As fate would have it, Milligan ended up playing Elvis on CMT’s show ‘Sun Records’ later in life.

Despite his love for the entertaining side of music, Milligan had bigger dreams and untapped potential that was soon to be recognized. “I always kinda wanted to be a rockstar. I had papers in 2nd grade about what you wanted to be when you grew up and it was always rockstar or something like that.”

The Turning Point:

Upon moving to Nashville, Tennessee, Milligan’s dreams became more attainable. “I was lucky enough to get in the room with some of my favorite writers in Nashville,” he recalls, adding later that one of the first people he met in town was legendary producer, Tony Brown. “Tony definitely helped me find my voice […] Originally when I came to town, I definitely wasn’t planning on being one of those guys that writes everything.”

Interestingly enough, it was through songwriting that Milligan finally honed in on his natural-born talent. Surrounding himself with the right team of people, the singer was able to tap into a unique perspective as a singer-songwriter, melding old-school country music with some modern-day flair of influences like Cody Johnson and Dierks Bentley.

“I found myself going back more than I do going towards new music. Discovering stuff from artists that were recorded in the 60s that I never heard,” shares Milligan recalling the process of really honing in on his own style as an artist. After a few years of writing every day, the singer felt comfortable enough to co-write original music.

Drake Milligan’s debut self-titled EP is due out Friday, July 23rd

Nowadays, Milligan is anticipating the release of his debut self-titled EP. The record comes out this Friday (7/23). It features five original songs, all co-written by the singer himself. “It was really through co-writing and Brandon Hood, to his credit, really helped me try to hone in on finding my voice through storytelling,” shares Milligan about the process of writing the record. “There’s a lot of those songs where you can hear a lot of those influences.”

Milligan also shares how effortlessly the record came together. “It’s just being around good guys and getting to know them and their stories, it’s one of my favorite parts and by the end of the day, hopefully after a bunch of stories and some good times, we have a song.”

Of course, it is impossible to pick a favorite off the project, but the singer did share that the ballad, “Don’t Look Down” is one of his favorites to perform. “I miss melodies in music quite a bit,” shares Milligan. “We went for it… we didn’t hold back!” Other songs that fans can anticipate on the record are “Over Drinkin’ Under Thinkin’” and “She.”

With the EP release coming soon, the singer cannot wait for fans to hear everything and hopefully get to play songs live real soon. The uplifting side of the song is so refreshing.

“So when it’s late at night and you’re still wide awake // If you’re with your friends or you’re lonely // When you hear somebody start to sty my name // Oh when you think of me // I hope you think good things”

If the release says anything about the record, Good Things is sure to be another platinum-selling success for the duo. The production, the vocals, and the lyrics all work effortlessly together.

Dustin Lynch Releases Two Brand New Songs Post Collaborations

Dustin Lynch’s new songs, “Not Every Cowboy” and “Pasadena” are available now, July 16th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Small town boy, Dustin Lynch released two new tracks today, July 16th. “Not Every Cowboy” and “Pasadena” are out now. The new music follows his recent collaborations “Tequila on a Boat” with Chris Lane, and his re-recording of “Thinking ‘Bout You” with MacKenzie Porter.

Driven by fiddle and acoustic guitar, “Not Every Cowboy” is a pure country, love ballad. It is about breaking the stereotype of the typical cowboy. Penned by Casey Brown, Parker Welling, Conner Smith, and Heather Morgan, the man takes pride in the fact that he’s still a cowboy even though he doesn’t ride a black mustang, drink whiskey like it’s water, and –most importantly- -doesn’t ride away from the woman he’s with. Lynch’s powerful vocals shine in the catchy chorus.

Girl I bet your mama warned you about guys like me // and this outlaw in my blood, ain’t a wildcard up my sleeve // ‘Cause I ain’t a silhouette standing // headed out west in the red sunset // taking your heart with me // So let me show you that not every cowboy leaves

“Pasadena” tells the story of two out-of-town strangers who met and quickly fell in the love in the sunny, southern California city. Although they are only there for three nights, the two plan on making the most out of their stay, due to the lavish chemistry built between them. Sarah Buxton provides backing vocals on this track, which was written by Jeff Hyde and Ryan Tyndell. Both songs were produced by Zach Crowell, who produced Lynch’s latest album, Tullahoma, all of Sam Hunt’s catalog, and many other songs for Nashville’s brightest acts.

Like many other country artists, Lynch has several headlining and festival tour dates on his schedule. For tickets, head to his website.

Niko Moon Premieres Brand New Song “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND”

Niko Moon’s new song “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND” is available now, July 16th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Fresh off his first number one radio single with “GOOD TIME,” Niko Moon is back with more new music. The country crooner has grown to become one of the most beloved newcomers in the industry. Between his bright and cheery personality and his undeniable talent, Moon is here to stay. Today the singer releases his brand new song entitled “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND.”

The song begins with a simple instrumental and Moon’s delightful rasp. Both the story and the groove of the track unfold in unison. Topically, the singer-songwriter does not try to reinvent the wheel, but melodically, the entertainer brings something new and fresh to country music. Moon shares his own experiences with small-town living in such a way that feels relatable to some and desirable to others.

“Good friends and a bottle of shine // Whenever you roll up your right on time // That small town state of mind, small town state of mind // Southern breeze on the Georgia pines // Soul food and some homemade wine // High school football game on a Friday night // Crickets singing like a Sunday choir // Tailgate down by the fire”

Moon remains one of the most interesting artists in our genre today. He does not try to be anything that he is not. He continues to find success with just being himself and creating music that he loves. “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND” is another great jam for the rising artist. Check out the video below for our exclusive performance and interview with Niko Moon, when he joined us live in New York City back in March 2020.

Georgia Webster: ‘First Goodbye’ EP – Review

Georgia Webster’s First Goodbye EP is out today, July 16th, on all streaming platforms. Featuring tracks such as “Push & Pull” and “Tell Your Mom,” check out our full review below.

We always look forward to Fridays because of the incredible new releases by country artists. Today, we are extra excited because talented singer-songwriter Georgia Webster makes her major-label debut. The Sony Music Nashville signee may only be 17 years old, but she has all the wisdom you need to make great music. Webster’s debut EP First Goodbye is officially out.

The EP kicks off with two songs that fans might be familiar with, due to the singer’s massive presence on social media. “Tell Your Mom” is arguably the song that made it happen for the songstress. The track went viral on TikTok back in July of 2020, and fans are still obsessed with it today. It is one of those songs that is both lyrically and melodically soothing.

“Summer nights and the way we kissed ya // Thought I was done didn’t know I missed it // But when I heard her voice I couldn’t breathe // Tell your mom to stop calling me // No disrespect, she’s the nicest lady // But she reminds me of you and lately // I’ve been holding myself up from falling // Please tell your mama to stop // calling, calling, calling”

Next up, “Push & Pull” brings us all back to that place of not wanting to end a relationship that your heart is no longer in. Webster admits to just not quite feeling it with her current relationship. Although many artists tackle heartbreak in their music, the singer does so in a way that gives a voice to those relationships that are good, but just not good enough.

The record transitions into another slow song with the title track, “First Goodbye.” Unlike “Push & Pull,” the heartache is truly evident on this song. Webster recounts a high school relationship and all the “firsts.” The song is nostalgic, sweet, and deeply personal. The songstress really lets fans into her heart on this diamond of a song.

“I can’t stop going back and forth // I keep asking myself // if freedom and growing is worth being alone, but I guess it’s too late now // and back then we had it easier, never wanted to leave // I say it and it hurts”

On “UGLY,” Webster shows off her sassier side. The singer describes a physically beautiful teen boy, but still labels him as “ugly” because of the way he treated her. The song feels stage-ready; despite, its melancholy content.

The record wraps up perfectly with “Box of Memories.” Although the song feels somber, we can all relate to that physical box of an old relationship that is pushed away into the back of our closet. “Box of Memories” is a song that paints imagery to that feeling and that physicality. It beautifully puts a bow on the record in a way that feels like a chapter ending.

The entire record is truly made up of what feels like diary entries from the songstress. Mashing up John Mayer vibes with old-school Taylor Swift, Webster finds the sweet spot with her knack for songwriting and her captivating country-pop vocals. Congrats to the singer on an incredible debut!
