Tucker Beathard first entered the country music scene back in 2016, when he had mainstream success with his debut single, “Rock On”.  Currently, the singer-songwriter decided to hone his creative freedom, as an independent artist.  Beathard will be dropping his debut full-length album, Nobody’s Everything, on November 30th.  The artist gave fans a preview of one of the tracks on the album, releasing a music video for his song “Leave Me Alone.”

Beathard shared with Rolling Stone his inspiration for the song and his state of mind, after relinquishing a working relationship with his former label, stating, “I was kind of in a funk, seeing people you thought had your back leave and lose faith in you, and feeling like you had this pressure. I was pushed to the emotional limit, but that song broadened my horizons as a songwriter, in terms of just melodically yelling something and tapping into a whole new thing.”

The music video features Beathard pouring his heart out, playing guitar, in an empty venue, with clips mixed in of the singer releasing his emotions as he breaks items in a small room. Both the music video and the song evoke a different type of message, as the lyrics are a plea to an ex-lover to let go of the relationship, so that he can move on and grieve the emotional turmoil. The fresh new sound is sure to resonate with country music fans. The entertainer co-wrote the song, along with the 8 other tracks, slated to be on ‘Part 1’ of the record. Check out the music video below.

The singer-songwriter dedicated his record and the release of the “Leave Me Alone” music video to his “day ones, who’ve stuck with [him],” his loyal fans, via his Twitter. Follow his journey on tuckerbeathard.com, and don’t forget to check back for our first impression review of his debut album out this Friday.

[Listen] Dylan Scott Drops New Track “Nothing to Do Town”

Rising country recording artist, Dylan Scott continues to impress fans with his catchy and heartfelt songs. After a string of top five hits including, “My Girl” and “Hooked,” the singer dropped another jam, today, “Nothing to Do Town,” with a lyric video to go with it.

The singer-songwriter has been teasing the track via his Instagram for the last week, eagerly awaiting its debut. “Nothing to Do Town” is a story about a small-town, which doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of big cities, but the people from there still know how to have fun with what they do have. Scott looked to his Louisiana roots for inspiration, as he grew up in the small town of Bastrop, sharing in a recent press release “I’m really excited about the release of my new single, “Nothing to Do Town.” Growing up in a very small town in Northeast Louisiana we had to create our own entertainment since we didn’t have malls or movie theaters. That is what this song is all about and I wouldn’t trade the way I grew up for anything. I know there are going to be a lot of people who hear the song and feel the same was I do.”

The opening lyrics of the song set the tone right away. “It ain’t New York City / and it ain’t LA / We ain’t got no rooftop bars like they do on Broadway / It’s just a little town square / Middle of nowhere / Ain’t even big enough to be a map dot / We ain’t got a lot / But we sure do a lot / With the little bit that we got.”

The party anthem name-drops country stars, George Strait and Tim McGraw, talks about looking to the outdoors for things to do, and overall, relishes in finding the joys of living the uncomplicated life in a small town. The lyric video showcases all the fun things to do in a small town, which is a refreshing and inviting change for people, who may have grown up in the hustle and bustle of a big city like New York.  “Nothing to Do Town” is available anywhere music can be bought or stream, and is already making some waves on country radio.

The entertainer will give back to his home-state by headlining the ‘Bayou Stock Country’ music festival. Scott created the festival to give back to the community, with proceeds going towards holiday gifts for local kids in need. Click here for more information about the event.

In January 2019, Scott, accompanied by Seth Ennis, who he co-wrote “Hooked” with, will embark on a headlining tour, named after the track. The ‘Nothing to Do Town Tour’ begins in New York City at Gramercy Theatre on January 17th. Find tickets for the show here and head to dylanscottcountry.com for a full list of tour dates.

Zac Brown Band’s Reimagined “From Now On” From The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman

Over the past few years, movie musicals have become increasingly popular. “LA LA Land” winning Oscars,  being nominated for Best Picture and most recently “A Star Is Born” sweeping box offices.  Last holiday season, “The Greatest Showman”, a story about P.T. Barnum’s imagination and his band of misfits that became members of his famous circus became a phenomenon.  The music was written by Justin Paul and Benj Pasek (“La La Land,” “Dear Evan Hansen”) and had moviegoers singing along in theatres and purchasing the soundtrack, making it the biggest selling album of 2018.

Released today, the movie’s songs have been “reimagined” by current popular musicians across several genres. Kelly Clarkson lends her powerful vocal chops to “Never Enough”, P!nk and her daughter Willa Sage sing “A Million Dreams” and Kesha with Missy Elliot on the show’s anthem “This Is Me”. Sara Bareilles gives an ethereal rendition of “Tightrope” while MAX and Ty Dolla $ign sing “The Other Side”.  There are also two versions of the “The Greatest Show” both giving a twist on Hugh Jackman’s original version, Panic! At the Disco and Pentatonix bring their unique voices to the track.

Of course, the reason we are writing about this album is that Zac Brown Band are also featured, bringing a traditional country twang to the mix on “From Now On”.  The culmination of the movie comes to be in this track and Zac Brown Band with their unforgettable harmonies and banjo picking bring the story to life. While some of the songs on the reimagined album sound very similar to the original recorded soundtrack, “From Now On” is flipped on its head, starting slowly with only a banjo accompanying Brown’s signature voice building in the chorus where fiddles and guitars fill the space. Give a listen to the song above and the entire The Greatest Showman Reimagined soundtrack below.

[Listen] Brad Paisley’s New Honky-Tonk Single “Bucked Off”

Grammy award-winning country superstar, Brad Paisley has released his first new single in over a year, entitled “Bucked Off.” The honky-tonk tune was co-penned with Chris DuBois and Kelley Lovelace. The single’s cover art is decorated with a colorful sunset, displaying Paisley literally getting “bucked off” a bull, with his guitar flying in the air.

Though the track is upbeat and will definitely be featured on all of our tailgating playlists next summer, Paisley tells the heartbreaking story of the repetitive cycle of knowing a breakup is approaching, enduring the inevitable emotional pain and picking himself up and starting over again. The singer-songwriter uses aspects of the rodeo as metaphors to illustrate each circumstance. He sings in the chorus, “This ain’t my first rodeo / Someone’s gonna get hurt / Whenever someone says we need to talk / It feels like there’s a number pinned onto the back of my shirt / ‘Cause this is where the cowboy gets bucked off”

Paisley made the single’s television debut performance last night on the 52nd Annual CMA Awards. Taking a break from his hosting duties, the Arista Records artist was styled in his signature cowboy hat along with a plaid detailed button up shirt. The country star shredded on his electric guitar while singing about his beautiful cowgirl. Neon rodeo visuals lit up the screens onstage as a backdrop for the performance.

“Bucked Off” is now available everywhere you stream or buy music. Check out the song and other new tracks on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist on Spotify. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

Kelsea Ballerini Debuts Music Video for “Miss Me More”

Kelsea Ballerini Miss Me More Music Video

Photo Courtesy of Black River Entertainment

Black River Entertainment artist Kelsea Ballerini has had a whirlwind of a year, from touring with superstar Keith Urban to releasing her successful debut album, Unapologetically, there is no stopping the country pop princess.  Just this past week, Ballerini released the music video for her current single “Miss Me More.”

The empowering new single is the ultimate anthem for girls who are just getting out of a seemingly toxic relationship. The track is a refreshing take on a break-up song, where the singer chooses herself over a broken relationship. The visuals in the video show the internal battle a person goes through at the end of relationship, trying to regain a sense of themselves again. Ballerini battles herself, literally, in the boxing ring, only to come out the other side as a fighter, a survivor, and ultimately an empowered woman.

See how Ballerini fights off her demons in the music video below. “Miss Me More” is featured on her expanded sophomore album, Unapologetically (Deluxe Edition), available everywhere you buy or stream music.

Up next, the Female Vocalist of the Year nominee will perform at The 52nd Annual CMA Awards, airing live from Nashville on Wednesday (11/14) at 8/7c p.m. on ABC. Ballerini will then find her wings as a featured musical guest at The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Holiday Special broadcast on December 2 (10 p.m. ET) on ABC.

As for 2019, Ballerini will embark on her 2019 headlining ‘Miss Me More Tour’, with Brett Young and Brandon Ratcliff in April, after she joins Kelly Clarkson on the Meaning of Life Tour this coming January. Find tickets and more information on kelseaballerini.com.

Austin Burke Releases Heartfelt “Slower”

Austin Burke, "Slower"

Austin Burke, “Slower”

On the heels of success with his breakout single, “Whole Lot in Love,” Austin Burke delivers another love song anthem with his new track, “Slower.” The singer-songwriter has been teasing fans with clips of the song, cute images, and sweet videos, all week, gearing up for the release.

“Slower,” co-written by Burke, is a story about having someone who helps slow down this fast-paced life and a reminder to focus on each and every moment. The opening lyrics embody that sentiment perfectly, “There’s never enough time in the day and those hands on the clock don’t take a break / Seems like I don’t either these days / That freeway, speedway high speed chase, makes it hard to hit the breaks / But she knows how to make my heart race / Just a little slower / Take my time when I get to hold her / Heaven feels a little closer, with her head right on my shoulder / Next to her, the fire burns and the world turns, just a little slower.”

The singer shared via his Twitter, his inspiration for the song, shouting out his long-time girlfriend, Lexy Kadey. The country music newcomer allowed fans to understand his personal reasons for writing the track through a video he posted, just before the debut, “I had just quit my job and I was just starting to do music full-time. It was just in the middle of chaos. Luckily I’ve been with my girlfriend for six years, and she has the ability to slow life down, and make it- make it simple again when it’s crazy. I wanted to write about her, and how much that means to me. I think everybody needs that person that slows life down, when you get home from work or need someone to talk to. She’s that person for me.”

The sweet sentiment behind the lyrics blends effortlessly with its fresh sound and cool vibe. “Slower” is available, wherever music can be bought or streamed. Check out the song and other new tracks on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist on Spotify. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix. [Listen] Chris Bandi Drops New Single “Why I Don’t Drink”

Chris Bandi

St. Louis native Chris Bandi, has released his poignant new single entitled, “Why I Don’t Drink.” Co-written with Kat Higgins, the agonizingly intimate track concedes the story of knowing someone is not “the one” but no matter what, after a few too many drinks, finding yourself at their doorstep, deceitfully telling them things you know they want to hear out of loneliness. Acknowledging his continuous habit, Bandi chose to put an end to the one thing that began this endless cycle. He sings in the chorus, “Cause I know what I feel ain’t love / The only time I open up / Is when I’m drunk, standing at your door / These whiskey lies we both believe / Just when you’re gettin’ over me / I’ll break your heart like every time before / I don’t want to tell you things, then in the morning leave / That’s why I don’t drink

The singer-songwriter previously took this song out on the road once the writing process was complete and knew it was something special from the audience’s response.  In a recent press release, Bandi shared, “Some of the best advice I ever received about writing songs was to try not to write a song. Just tell the truth and say what you know. I knew about growing up, learning from your mistakes and relationships. Mostly, I learned what not to do. I immediately started playing it live with just an acoustic guitar after Kat and I wrote it. “Why I Don’t Drink” was the song that people would always ask about after shows. That’s what first made me think we had something special. I’m so happy to finally be able to share it!”

Be sure to follow the rising country star on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for future announcements and song releases.  “Why I Don’t Drink” is now available everywhere you stream or buy music.

NYCS First Impression: Brandon Ray ‘Body Language’

Brandon Ray Body Language

Back in June of 2017, NYCountrySwag hosted a special night with rising country star, Brandon Ray, at Printers Alley NYC. This past Friday, Ray released his debut EP, Body Language. The six-song release is the perfect introduction for music lovers to Ray, who has spent much of the last year on the road with the likes of Devin Dawson, Cody Johnson, Bobby Bones, and Muscadine Bloodline.

On Body Language, Ray shows off his impressive range, seamlessly melding country, pop, and hints of R&B. The EP opens with the title track, a sexy uptempo about the object of Ray’s attention who needs to “say nothing at all” to catch his attention. Written by Brett Eldredge, hints of the superstar are evident on the song, but it is also the perfect intro to Ray’s music, as he then slows things down with the romantic “Still Got You.” “Even if the oceans all run dry, even if the stars fall out of the sky, even if we lose everything we got, even if the world just stops, I still got you,” Ray croons on this one that’s sure to make listeners swoon.

On “Small Talking,” Ray channels his inner Kip Moore, and this is easily a standout of the collection. “I’m done with small talking,” Ray sings. “Dancing all around it, when we know we both want it.” “Second Thoughts” follows the tone of “Small Talking,” Ray’s deep growl on display. Things slow down on “Bring Your Love Back,” which is a slow, groovy track that shows Ray pleading with an ex-lover over a moody guitar. “Bring your love back,” He pleads. “Show up at my door at midnight, fall into the past, we could pretend that we didn’t end with a bad goodbye… I just miss you tonight.”

The EP ends with “Ends of the Earth,” which has been on our writer Nicole’s playlist since its initial release over a year ago. The track is one of Ray’s best, with a catchy chorus that promises Ray will go to the ends of the Earth to make someone happy. The song caps off the EP perfectly, leaving the listener ready for more. For Brandon Ray, Body Language is a solid debut EP, sure to win over new fans with each listen.

Brandon Ray is currently on tour and you can catch a glimpse of his Body Language as he opens for Jon Pardi and Chase Rise throughout the fall.

Body Language is now available everywhere you stream or buy music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.
