T.J. Osborne, half of the country duo Brothers Osborne who hails from Deale, Maryland is ready to live his truth and allow fans to get to know him a bit more, by publicly coming out as gay. In an article published today, (February 3rd) in Time Osborne says he is “ready to tell his story”.

As the band’s frontman and lead singer, T.J.’s deep voice along with John’s incredible guitar skills have gained them a huge fan base, 7 top 40 hits, three studio albums, and have solidified their country-rock status in the genre. They pave the way for artists who want to bend the genre, and their live show (pre-Covid) was definitely one not to miss.

On his sexuality, T.J. has known since he was young, and has been out to his tight-knit family of friends in Nashville for years.  “I’m very comfortable being gay,” he says in the Time article. “I find myself being guarded for not wanting to talk about something that I personally don’t have a problem with. That feels so strange.”

Although his sexual preference is private and his business, his coming out story, being open with his fans, and his decision to go public is a huge step for the genre. He is the only openly gay artist that is currently signed to a major record label.

Once the article was published and the news hit social media, the support from the country music community quickly came pouring in. Artists, fans, and industry members alike were sharing photos with T.J. along with congratulations and proclaiming how proud they are of the singer-songwriter.
