Willie Jones Changes Perspective on New Single “Back Porch”

Willie Jones

In 2012, Willie Jones graced the X Factor stage and wowed the judges with Josh Turner’s “Your Man” and advanced further into the competition. He is a conventional country music artist who assembles traditional country music makings with the long-established workings of underground hip-hop. With over 20 million total streams, an accumulation of 200,000 streams a day, a friendship with Demi Lovato and Rolling Stone’s “future of country music,” the singer + songwriter has a lot to look forward to.

It’s obvious that the Shreveport, Louisiana native heavily pulls from his background in his songwriting especially on his latest release “Front Porch”. He grew up in his family home freestyle rapping around the neighborhood and charming talent show audiences with country ballads. It possesses a dance vibe feel, like early 2000s dance-pop, hip hop, all swirled with a conventional country sound.

Written by Jones, Michael Lotten and Nick Autry, the inspiration behind “Back Porch” derived from hanging out on a friend’s porch a little outside of Nashville where, “Ice tea is a little bit colder, and the grass is a little bit greener.” The song focuses on the positive effect that nature has when sometime you’re feeling a little out of place.

Sometimes a change of perspective is all we need.

Jones shared on his Instagram that this evening, 6-8 CST, that he is throwing a little, virtual quarantine BBQ to celebrate the release of “Back Porch” with a few guests including Walker Hayes, Lauren Alaina, Filmore, Michael Ray and more.
