Tenille Townes Makes TODAY Show Debut & Performs “Somebody’s Daughter”

This morning one of our Swag Spotlights, Tenille Townes made her Today Show debut by performing her single “Somebody’s Daughter” during the 3rd hour of the show. Before her beautiful performance, Townes talked to cohosts Al Roker and Dylan Dreyer about her recent collaboration with The Girl Scouts of Middle Tennesee, Troop 6000. “It was an honor to have these girls sing on this song, their voices were one of the most beautiful sounds coming through those headphones,” she explained. “These girls live without permanent housing, and to have them get to come and earn their musician badge, and watch their courage was so inspiring to me, it was an incredible day.”

They also reminisced on when Townes was 9-year-old and Shania Twain a fellow Canadian brought her up on stage to sing. She then went on to perform the song about a homeless woman she sees standing on a street corner. The track is a powerful message and the upbeat tempo keeps you engaged. Townes’ passionate performance definitely garnered her many new fans that were watching from home.  Watch their conversation and her performance below from The Artist’s Lounge.
