Restless Road: ‘Last Rodeo’ – Album Review

Restless Road shares their new album, Last Rodeo, out now, October 20th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new music below.

With three unique voices and an uncanny ability to harmonize as one, Restless Road is ready to make a splash with their debut album, Last Rodeo, out now. For the trio, who signed to Kane Brown’s joint venture with Sony Music Nashville, the album marks over a decade of hard work and dedication to their craft.

Featuring 18 tracks, the LP is a mix of previous releases paired with all new songs, many of which were co-written by members of the band. Other co-writers here include the likes of Lady A’s Charles Kelley, Cole Swindell, and Devin Dawson, allowing the trio to compile a solid body of work that is sure to make their mark on country music.

“If you would have told us a few years ago that we would be where we are today we wouldn’t have believed you,” revealed Restless Road in a statement.  “We’ve been through so many ups and downs as a band, and that’s what this is about. Never giving up and always keeping your eyes on the road. It’s about believing in yourself even when people tell you no, and persevering until your dreams become a reality. And that’s why the three of us are so excited for the biggest thing we’ve done yet.”

Composed of Zach Beeken, Colton Pack and Garrett Nichols, Restless Road has become best known for their thrilling harmonies, evidenced throughout the album, from the opening chords of the titular track to the final notes of the introspective and poignant album closer, “On My Way.”

Throughout the LP, Restless Roads takes listeners on a journey that often includes heartbreak and heartache, paired with new love and introspection. There are lighter moments in the form of the singalong anthem “Bar Friends” and the amusing ode to an adult beverage,  “No Can Do.”

Immediate standouts include the wedding-reception/proposal-ready “Growing Old With You,” co-penned by Kelley, and the pop-country banger, “Sundown Somewhere,” co-penned by Swindell. On the earworm of a track, the trio wax poetic about the one that they know is somewhere out there, waiting for their paths to cross. Alternately, on “Growing Old,” the one has been found and forever is the next logical step.

“What you say we put us down some roots? // Find a house up on a hill // Travel ’round the world // Put some pictures on the shelf // Hold you close and keep the faith // Raise some kids with our last name // Well, come on baby what you say we do? // I feel like growing old with you // I’m growing old with you”

The trio spend a lot of time on the one who got away, promising eternal love to an extinguished flame on the guitar-heavy “Tell Me Not To,” while also warning their younger selves to keep moving and not get involved on the fiddle and steel laden ode to hindsight, “Leave Your Boots On.” On “Go Get Her,” they’re poised to fight for lost love, warning, “Boy swallow your pride like whiskey, Don’t let her fade into a memory, ‘Cause oh there ain’t there that many one in a million, so if you know she’s your forever, won’t forget her, boy you better, go get her.” Meanwhile, “Easy for You to Say” allows them to flex their vocals over guitar-driven country, musing “Goodbye wouldn’t be so hard // If it wasn’t so easy for you to say.”

Things are sunnier on “Head Over Heels,” a fast-paced up-tempo about love at first sight and “I Don’t Wanna Be That Guy,” a declaration of a reformed ladies man who’s ready to settle down for someone special.

“Could’ve Been a Love Song” is a punchy up-tempo about a relationship that went wrong, becoming a sad song despite having the makings of a love song. “We could’ve been a love song, If we’d have just held on, instead of the sad one that I”m singing right now, I wish that I had one that would turn you around,” They sing. “We could’ve been a long kiss, Girl we had it at our fingertips, We could’ve had it all, We knew it all along, Tell me where we went wrong, Girl we could’ve been a love song.”

Likewise, clever lyrics are the cornerstone of both “10 Things” and “Roll Tide Roll,” with the former being an amusing kiss-off to an ex as they list off all the “things I hate about you.” For those wondering, the list includes lipstick, red wine, palm trees, polaroids, card games, watching true crime, drunk text, and rainchecks. Meanwhile, on the more serious “Roll Tide,” the trio document love gone wrong with a ‘Bama girl, musing “’Cause I got ‘Bama on my mind, Even here in Mexico, Oh why Oh why, did my roll tide roll?”

Throughout the album, Restless Road manage to combine unique lyrics, powerful harmonies, and unique instrumentation in a way that’s uniquely their own. In fact, on their Instagram account, Restless Road’s bio proclaims them to be “your new favorite country band,” and after the release of Last Rodeo, that is very likely to be true.

Restless Road Performs “Growing Old With You” on The Bachelor

Restless Road performed their brand new song, “Growing Old With You” on ABC’s ‘The Bachelor’ on Monday night, during one of the special date nights.

On the heels of releasing their brand new, romantic song “Growing Old With You,” Restless Road was invited to perform on ABC’s hit show ‘The Bachelor.” The trio previously teased the song on social media. Fans showed their approval for the song almost instantly. Their performance on The Bachelor was just as great! Watch the video here.

This season’s lead, Clayton Echard, and his date headed to an undisclosed location. They were surprised with the trio’s incredible love song. When asked to perform on the show, Restless Road were both shocked and humbled by the invitation. The trio clearly appreciate every opportunity.

“What you say we put us down some roots // Find a house up on a hill // Travel ’round the world // Put some pictures on the shelf // Hold you close and keep the faith // Raise some kids with our last name // Well, come on baby what you say we do? // I feel like growing old with you // I’m growing old with you”

Restless Road joins a long list of country artists, who performed on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette franchise respectively. Both Chase Rice and Laine Hardy were recent guests on the shows. We wonder who will be next to join the list!

Restless Road Drops New Song “Growing Old With You”

Restless Road’s new song “Growing Old With You” is out now, January 21st on all streaming platforms. Learn more about the new track below.

Country newcomers, Restless Road released a brand new track today (January 21) titled “Growing Old With You.” The trio has been teasing the song on social media for over a month, and now it is finally available on all streaming platforms.

Restless Road broke onto the scene last March after fellow country artist and good friend, Kane Brown signed them to his record label and collaborated on the track “Take Me Home.” The rendition of the classic John Denver song was the lead single off their debut EP. Since then, they have released four additional songs, including the fun, drinking anthem, “Bar Friends.” They can now put “Growing Old With You” towards a future full-length project.

As far as love songs go, this one bumps it up a notch. It has all the elements of a wedding first dance. Penned by Jordan Minton, Jordan Reynolds, and Lady A’s Charles Kelley, the boys pour their hearts out in harmony and lay out all their plans with their women.

“What ya say we put us down some roots // Find a house up on a hill // Travel ’round the world // Put some pictures on the shelf // Hold you close and keep the faith // Raise some kids with our last name // Well, come on, baby, what you say we do // I feel like growing old with you”

The guys all shared what this song meant to them and their relationships individually on social media. Even though they are all at different points of their romantic lives—Zach is single, Garrett has a girlfriend of three years, and Colton is married—they all feel the weight of this song and express how it symbolizes what true love feels like.

Restless Road is currently on the road with Kane Brown on his Blessed and Free Tour. The group will headline their own tour beginning in April. For tickets, head to their website.

Restless Road Release Brand New Song “Headlights”

Restless Road’s new song “Headlights” is out now, September 3rd, on all streaming platforms.  Take a look below as we dig into the track.

Restless Road are becoming one of the most exciting new acts out of Nashville. With the support of Kane Brown, there is truly no stopping this group. The trio’s upbeat, feel-good lyrics mixed with their stunning harmonies give them a unique niche in the industry. “Headlights” follows the fun sing-along “Bar Friends” and the romantic “Hometown Tonight,” but unlike those, this one does not look at life in a positive light.

“Headlights” is the fourth track the group have released since their debut self-titled EP dropped in early 2020. In the song, the main character is doing everything he can to forget his ex. This includes removing her picture off the dashboard. He even stops playing her song.  However, every time he hops in his Chevy, the memories come back. This has the protagonist feeling all sorts of emotions.

“I can’t get you out of my high beams // I see you all around town and in my dreams // I know everything we had is in the rearview // But baby I can’t get you out of my headlights”

Restless Road will join Kane Brown on his 35-stop Blessed and Free Tour which will also feature rotating support from Jordan Davis and Chase Rice. New York country fans can catch them at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on November 5th, or at Madison Square Garden on January 15th. For tickets, head to their website.

Restless Road Release Brand New Song “Hometown Tonight”

Restless Road’s new song, “Hometown Tonight” is available now, July 23rd, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new track.

Just last month, Kane Brown’s flagship artist, Restless Road released their catchy single “Bar Friends.” Today the talented trio are giving fans even more to be excited about and keeping the momentum going. Restless Road officially dropped their heartfelt new song “Hometown Tonight.”

The new song is one of those songs that will have all the girls swooning. The trio lean into the idea that home can be with your person, rather than a specific place. Comforting, romantic, and nostalgic, “Hometown Tonight” hits the mark in every way. Of course, the individual talent of each member shines through too, but it is their harmonies that continue to be centerstage.

“You had big city dreams // Flashing lights another street // 500 miles from the gravel where we used to meet // Right in the middle of my black chevy bench seat // We’d name the stars layin’ underneath the pine trees // You say you’re missing that simple way of living // that picture-perfect memory, I can paint it in the minute // let me be your home, home, home, hometown tonight”

The trio are an act to look out for. They are growing a loyal following by the minute and are truly talented in their own right. With just a few original songs under their belt, they are already making a name for themselves in country music.

Just a few months into their official record deal, Restless Road has garnered quite the fanbase on social media. The rising trio became the flagship artist for 1021 Entertainment, a joint venture between Kane Brown and Sony Music Nashville back in February. Today the three vocalists released their next single “Bar Friends.”

The song was an instant hit with fans on TikTok, showcasing exactly why the trio have over fifteen million likes on the app in total. “Bar Friends” is a catchy tune that we can all relate to. The singers talk about all the types of friends we hold on to and encounter in our lives. The boys crush their harmonies on the song, but it’s the chorus that brings it all home.

“I got work friends // I got church friends // I got hometown grew up on the same red dirt friends // I got great friends / I got fake friends // I got girls that wanna try but we can’t stay friend // all in all I’d say that life’s been good to me so far // but you know where I go when it gets hard // out with my bar friends”

Restless Road Releases New Song + Signs with Kane Brown

It’s a big day for rising trio Restless Road who become the flagship artist for 1021 Entertainment, a joint venture between Kane Brown and Sony Music Nashville. In addition to the breaking news, the group are officially debuting their first single, “Took One Look At Her Momma”, available now, February 12th on all streaming platforms.

Back in May, we highlighted the men of Restless Road in our Swag Spotlight series. Fresh off the release of their self-titled debut EP, the trio promised that more music was sure to come! Today, Restless Road released their brand new song “Took One Look At Her Momma.”

Written by the band with Lindsay Rimes and Andrew Albert, the lyrics explore the idea that the apple does not fall far from the tree when it comes to mothers and daughters. Inspired by advice that band member, Garrett Nichols’ received from his father, the song began to come to fruition. With enticing harmonies, story-telling, and a catchy melody, “Took One Look At Her Momma” is impossible not to like.

“I took one look at her momma / I took one look at the woman that raised her up right / I knew that I was a goner / Soon as I saw where my baby done got that smile, ohh / The pretty in her genes / Gonna last a lifetime it seems / I knew that peach didn’t fall far from the tree / I took one look at her momma”

Restless Road is one of the most exciting new acts out there in country music right now. The dynamic trio has powerful voices on their own, but their harmonies are what sets them apart from the rest. With the support of fans and of course their former tourmate, Kane Brown, Restless Road is going to be unstoppable!

Who Is Restless Road? The Story Behind Their Journey to Country Music

Who is Restless Road? The existing new trio joined us to chat about their journey to country music. Get to know the singers here…

Restless Road

This week we spoke with the men of Restless Road, a new trio that continues to rise in popularity across the country music genre. The singers shared with us all about their writing and recording process, their time opening up for superstar, Kane Brown, and of course their journey to becoming a band.

Although Restless Road has gone through a few iterations as a band, the trio have finally found their sweet spot with Zach Beeken, Colton Pack, and Garrett Nichols as bandmates. Each brings something unique to the group. Growing up in different parts of the country, each member found their passion for music a little differently.

“I actually didn’t really get into singing until I was a bit older. I was about 15, 16 years old,” Beeken tells us, adding, “I grew up watching American Idol, and I saw Scotty McCreery audition and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.” Nowadays, he gravitates toward country singers with deeper voices like McCreery, Josh Turner, and the late Johnny Cash.

As for Pack, he credits his faith-filled upbringing as a big part of his career. “I started singing in church,” he shares, “I really didn’t start like as an actual thing until I was a freshman in high school and then I started making trips down to Nashville and writing.” He always had that “traditional backbone,” for country greats like Georgia Strait and Garth Brooks, but adds Keith Urban has always been a big inspiration for him and the trajectory of his career.

Growing up in Alabama, Nichols rounds out the trio. He fulfilled his father’s “rock star” dreams, when he fell in love with music, picking up a guitar when he was just 12 years old. He reminisced with us about his infatuation for Tim McGraw’s “Real Good Man,” adding “I would just sing that over and over again. […] I was really influenced by country music, I could not quit singing it.”

The three men finally crossed paths in 2013, after both Beeken and Pack auditioned as solo-artists on X-factor, and again as a band, but the group was not complete until Nichols received a DM via Instagram from the guys, asking for him to join. Interestingly enough, they met their tour mate, superstar, Kane Brown during their original X-factor audition. Little did they know that that relationship was going to help their careers blossom.

After several years in the industry, Restless Road received a text message that changed their lives and their careers. Brown not only invited the trio to open up for his ‘Worldwide Beautiful Tour,” a massive, sold-out arena tour, but signed them to his new label. “Honestly it was really surreal for us,” the men shared, “We have never released music before, and to be able to release music and as soon as we released it to head out on a major arena tour, it was something I just cannot describe,” added Pack, who spoke on the behalf of the group.

Although the tour has been halted, due to the worldwide pandemic and quarantine, Restless Road could not express enough gratitude for the experience and for fans, and added they cannot wait to get out there to play the rescheduled shows. “It will be over the top when we come back. I think we have a few things we have that we’re looking forward to when the tour comes back that we think fans will really enjoy.”

Until then, fans can continue to stream their debut self-titled EP. They worked really hard to cultivate a cohesive record, where each song can stand alone as a single. “All three of us picked songs that we felt stood out to us,” they said, “We always have a universal approach to [writing music] where we feel like anyone, everywhere can put themselves in that song.” The boys accomplished just that with songs that cover the spectrum for music fans.

As Restless Road waits out this chaotic time, they assure fans that they are in for a treat when they return, but send this sentiment to fans, “They can’t expect. That’s the goal.” It is a bit of a mystery of when the trio will put out a full-length project, but we know for sure that they will continue to write and hone their creative sides during downtime, and rest assure, they cannot wait to be the opening act and the first to take the stage when we are all able to get back to going to shows! Keep these guys on your watch list. They are the real deal!

To keep up with Restless Road follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

NYCS First Impression: Restless Road EP

Restless Road

The comeback for country band, Restless Road starts right now. The trio of Zach Beeken, Colton Pack and Garrett Nichols released their self-titled, debut EP on Friday including the soon-to-be smash hit “Take Me Home” featuring country superstar, Kane Brown. This band’s journey has been a long and winding road (fitting with their name) that, at one point, looked like it was coming to an end. But with the help of Brown, Restless Road was given a new life with the likelihood of more success than they ever could have imagined.

The first track, titled “One Step Ahead”, was written by Beeken, Nichols, Jim Beavers, Lindsay Rimes and former band member, Jared Keim. Using their mixed vocal ranges in harmony, the guys inform the girl in the song that whatever she wants, it has already been taken care of.

“If you need your kisses to last a little longer/ If you need your heartbeat to beat a little stronger / Don’t worry that pretty little mind, I’m already ready / Yeah baby, I’m one step ahead”

The second track, “Take Me Home” will most likely be the biggest hit off the EP. Featuring Brown, the song puts a more modern spin on John Denver’s “Take Me Home Country Roads”. Instead of West Virginia being home, home is where this girl is. The song’s protagonist cites the reason for his band’s little success on the road was due to them not being together. Watch the music video below:

“Take me home, take me home / To a place, I belong / Cause I miss ya, and I wish ya / would take me home, take me home”

Penned by Beeken, Nichols, Keim, Kyle Fishman, and Michael Whitworth, the third track, “All the Girls” is dedicated to, you guessed it, all the girls. The modern sound of this song is complimented by steel guitar in the background and a fiddle solo during the bridge.

“Why ya think that we been working all week / Who ya think we going out to meet / Why ya think we got a shotgun seat / All the girls”

The final track, “It Ain’t Easy” is their most vulnerable one. Written by Beeken, Nichols, Keim, Justin Wilson, Jacob Durrett, and Steve Bogard, it discusses how difficult life can be when you are starting to look for jobs, move out of your parents’ house and date seriously. This song can relate to almost any young adult beginning to go through this process. The final chorus is more personal to them and their journey to becoming a band.

“Learn to strum this old guitar / Pay the rent from a tip jar / Write a 3-chord country song that’s got some feelin’ / Sounds simple, but it ain’t easy”

Beeken, Pack and Brown all auditioned for the X-Factor in 2013 but got eliminated before making the top-40. However, the judges liked Beeken and Pack so much that they decided to bring them back for season three and have them audition as a trio with another contestant, Andrew Scholz. They finished in fourth place.

This led them to move to Nashville with the goal of becoming singer/songwriters and maybe even getting signed to a record deal. With a little luck, the band was on the verge of calling it quits before Brown came across Pack’s cover of “Good As You.” He then pitched the trio a song he saved and never recorded, “Take Me Home.” You can watch more of their story in this video below:

Brown invited Restless Road to join him on his Worldwide Beautiful Tour with special guests Chris Lane and Russell Dickerson which kicked off in Atlantic City on February 29th. Check out a full recap of the night here.  For more tour dates, head to their website.
