Niko Moon: Coastin’ – EP Review

Niko Moon’s brand new EP, Coastin’, is out now, June 10th on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new music below and check out our full review.

Your summer record is officially here! Niko Moon, king of good vibes and appreciated life, is back with a brand new project to fall in love with. Moon releases his five-song project, Coastin’ just in time for warm weather and some sunshine.

The record kicks off with its lead single, “Easy Tonight.” The beach-vibe song is the perfect introduction to the new EP. It sets the mood for a record that is primed for an outdoor, laidback, summer country show. Moon’s effortlessness is on full display on the funky and catchy new mid-tempo song.

“Where the music is playin’ // People are singing // Like these old Levi’s, yeah we’re getting faded // No, I just can’t get enough // Bartender fill up my cup // ‘Cause I just wanna raise one up // It’s going down easy tonight // Ain’t it good when it all feels right // ‘Tween this drink in my hand // And some real good friends // It’s going down easy tonight”

Coastin’ continues with its title track. Quite possibly the most beach-ready, “Coastin'” is the perfect nostalgic song. Moon paints the picture for listeners of laying in the sun with someone you love or just chilling on your own, in the water, with no care in the world.

Next up, “All That We Need” is the middle track on the project. The song, one of our favorites from the collection, reminds us all to pay attention to the important things in life. Moon is always spreading his message of positivity and gratitude throughout his music.

“We could be rich, we could be broke // We could be young, we could be old // It don’t matter, no // Cause I got you, you got me // That’s all that we need // Take my hand // You gunna see // That’s all we need”

The record culminates with “Back Nine” and “One Drink Away.” Both songs are the perfect tracks to dance and drink too. The former is the song you need, once you make it through a break-up. On the other hand, “One Drink Away,” albeit slower-tempo, is the song that gives you hope in romance. It is the perfect song to end the record.

Overall, Coastin’  is an EP that we all needed. Moon is a one-of-a-kind singer-songwriter, whose message of positivity and good vibes is much appreciated. Not to mention, he has the songwriting chops and vocals to match!

Coastin’ EP Tracklist:

  1. “Easy Tonight”
  2. “Coastin'”
  3. “All That We Need”
  4. “Back Nine”
  5. “One Drink Away”

Niko Moon: ‘Good Time’ – Album Review

Niko Moon’s debut album, Good Time is available everywhere today, August 27th. This 14-track project perfectly portrays the positive vibes and ‘glass half full’ perspective that Moon aims to bring to his music and to his fans.  Check out the full review below.

We here at Country Swag have been fans of Niko Moon since he first hit the country music scene. We got to know the talented singer-songwriter back in 2019 with our Swag Spotlight Interview. At the time, Moon had just begun exploring the performing side of his artistry as previously Moon had success solely as a songwriter. At that point, he had already had four number one hits with Zac Brown Band (“Loving You Easy”, “Homegrown”, “Beautiful Drug” and “Keep Me in Mind”) and one with Rascal Flatts (“Back to Life”), but had yet to release the now several songs that we know and love by him, as a recording artist.

Later in 2020, Moon joined us in New York City for a Live Swag Session, where he played some songs for us and sat down for an interview. Check it out in the video below.

With the release of his full-length project, Moon includes previously released tracks that have become fan-favorites and remain standouts on the album. Moon’s very first number one song as a recording artist, “Good Time” serves as the title track of the album and joins his most recent release “Small Town State of Mind” along with “No Sad Songs”, “Paradise to Me”“Dance With Me”, “Drunk Over You”, “Way Back” and “Good At Loving You”.

The project adds six additional songs from the artist, including a cover of Travis Tritt’s “It’s A Great Day to be Alive”, a song that perfectly encapsulates Moon’s entire perspective on life and the vibe he brings to his music, and thus is the perfect song to close out his debut album.

Moon’s love for his wife, Anna, who is both a writing partner and a pop artist herself, is woven through the entire project. Songs like “Good At Loving You”, “Dance With Me” and “Last Call” each show this in their own way.

“Yeah I spill more than most people drink // Wake up and don’t remember a thing // The band is playing their last song // While all the lights are coming on // Yeah if lovers are like alcohol, girl you’re my last call”

“Let it Ride” is a chill, go-with-the-flow song much like “Good Time” and “Paradise to Me” but with greater meaning.

“Let it ride, let it roll, feels good just to let it go // No I ain’t got time to think about the things I can’t control // Let it in, let it out, ain’t a thing that I’m worried about // Just gonna sit right here and watch the sun go down “

“Without Saying A Word” is a song for his dad, and is a more emotional and authentic song than what we are used to hearing from Moon. It is about all the lessons that his dad taught him, without saying a word.

“Best believe that I’m still reaching // For that silent bar he set // And I won’t give up, trying to live up // to the things he never said”

Moon is currently on the What A Song Can Do Tour with Lady A, which kicked off this summer and runs through early Fall. For tour dates and tickets, click here.

Niko Moon Premieres Brand New Song “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND”

Niko Moon’s new song “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND” is available now, July 16th on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new music.

Fresh off his first number one radio single with “GOOD TIME,” Niko Moon is back with more new music. The country crooner has grown to become one of the most beloved newcomers in the industry. Between his bright and cheery personality and his undeniable talent, Moon is here to stay. Today the singer releases his brand new song entitled “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND.”

The song begins with a simple instrumental and Moon’s delightful rasp. Both the story and the groove of the track unfold in unison. Topically, the singer-songwriter does not try to reinvent the wheel, but melodically, the entertainer brings something new and fresh to country music. Moon shares his own experiences with small-town living in such a way that feels relatable to some and desirable to others.

“Good friends and a bottle of shine // Whenever you roll up your right on time // That small town state of mind, small town state of mind // Southern breeze on the Georgia pines // Soul food and some homemade wine // High school football game on a Friday night // Crickets singing like a Sunday choir // Tailgate down by the fire”

Moon remains one of the most interesting artists in our genre today. He does not try to be anything that he is not. He continues to find success with just being himself and creating music that he loves. “SMALL TOWN STATE OF MIND” is another great jam for the rising artist. Check out the video below for our exclusive performance and interview with Niko Moon, when he joined us live in New York City back in March 2020.

Niko Moon Scores His First Number One Song with “GOOD TIME”

Niko Moon’s “GOOD TIME” earns him his first number one song as the tune hits the top spot on the country charts this week.

Niko Moon is an artist and a songwriter that we have believed in from day one! Right before the world shut down last year, we featured him in one of our Live Swag Sessions, where he sang “GOOD AT LOVING YOU” and of course, “GOOD TIME”, just before sitting down to chat about the music. Now, we all get to celebrate as Moon’s first single to country radio, “GOOD TIME” is officially the number one song on Country Radio.

With an unbelievable zest for life, Moon proves that a happy song is exactly what we need right now. “GOOD TIME” is exactly what it sounds like, a song that makes you just want to kick back, let go of your worries, and just vibe with the song. His debut single shows an authentic blending of genres with a universal message of highlighting positivity and happiness at the forefront.

“I’ve got some good news y’all! “GOOD TIME” is number one on the radio y’all! It’s the number one song on country radio,” shared Moon in an Instagram video from earlier today, “and it’s all because of y’all! It’s all because y’all supported me through this crazy past year and I just wanted to tell y’all how much y’all mean to me”.

Moon is one of those artists that will continue to sneak up on you. His undeniable charm and charisma is one of a kind, and we cannot wait to see how the NYCountry Swag 2021 Artist to Watch continues to blossom this year. When live music makes a full comeback, we’re sure that Niko Moonwill be one of the first to get back out there and start the party again for his fans!

Niko Moon “No Sad Songs” Is the Perfect Feel-Good Tune

Niko Moon’s new track, “No Sad Songs” is available now, February 19th, on all streaming platforms. Written about music and not wanting to hear any sad songs while you’re busy having a night to remember, take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the track.

Following the release of his “Good Time” remix with Shaggy last month, 2021 NYCountry Swag Artist to Watch, Niko Moon just dropped a brand new track, “No Sad Songs”.

The new tune has a classic Niko Moon vibe and is another great addition to your feel-good playlist that’s probably already loaded with other Moon songs like “Good Time”, “Paradise to Me” or “Dance with Me”. “No Sad Songs” was written by Moon himself, his wife Anna, as well as Joshua Murty, Steven Lee Olsen, and Alysa Vanderheym.

“No Sad Songs” is all about a good night out of dancing and drinking, and wanting to hear all the feel-good sing-alongs that will keep the night going on forever. We’re talking “Wagon Wheel”, “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Chicken Fried”, “Sweet Caroline”, and Moon makes sure to add “Good Time” to the mix, which just so happened to go Platinum this week! This song is everything you want after a long hard week: just to kick back and relax, have a fun night out with friends, and listen to everything but sad songs.

“I don’t wanna hear no sad songs / I just wanna have some fun tonight / Dancing all the way till last call / Drink in my hand got me feelin’ right / It’s been a long week / A gone wrong week / So keep that GOOD TIME spinnin’ on repeat, yeah / I don’t wanna hear no sad songs / I don’t wanna hear no sad songs”

Before the pandemic hit, Moon was on the Platonic Tour with Ryan Hurd, which did a two-night run in NYC in what ended up being the last few shows of the tour. Since then, Moon has taken to social media in order to stay connected with fans, much of which he does through two weekly Live shows. “Stir Crazy” is a cooking show he does every Friday night on Instagram and Facebook Live with his wife, Anna Moon. The other is the Live Home Concerts he plays every Monday night. After almost a year of these weekly occurrences, Moon has been able to stay very connected with fans in a very consistent way and fans have been able to hear a ton of music from the singer-songwriter and learn more and more about him each week.

Luke Combs and Billy Strings Unite for Timely “The Great Divide”

Luke Combs teamed up with bluegrass artist, Billy Strings, and surprised fans with a timely new song. “The Great Divide” is available now, February 1st on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new track.

Upon surprise releasing the new song, Combs posted an Instagram video earlier today about his thoughts on the track and the story behind it. Written by Combs, along with Billy Strings and their friend Wyatt Durrette back in June of 2020, Combs tells fans that the “The Great Divide” was intended to be on a Bluegrass album that he was working on. However, as plans change, Combs shifted his focus to his third album instead and says the bluegrass project has been put on pause for now.

Combs shares, “I thought now was a good time to put this song out with everything that has been and is going on in the world. It isn’t meant to be political or try and tell you what to think or believe; that’s not my job. It’s just me saying how I felt when I wrote it and I wanted y’all to hear it.”

Strings adds, “This song is our interpretation of the conflicts and tension we had been witnessing/experiencing around the time we wrote it. We wanted to shine a little light on the situation and offer a bit of hope during what has been a tough time for many.”

Quite literally, this song suggests the great divide that exists within our country right now.

“We’re all so far, so far apart now / It’s as deep as it is wide / We’re about to fall apart now / If we can’t reach the other side / We gotta find a way across the great divide”

“The Great Divide” opens with a very telling image of a reality we are all living. Even if we’re not the ones in the fight or the ones experiencing it every day, we are seeing it every time we go on our phones or turn on our TV’s. It’s likely we don’t go long without a conversation coming up either. It is around all of us and has been for a while now.

“We’re striking matches on the TV / Setting fires on our phones / Bearing crosses we believe in dying on / tempers flare, the flame flies higher / as we soar closer towards the sun / But I like to think too much damage ain’t been done”

As real and to the point as this song is, it still manages to offer a sense of hope among its saddening truth, and remind us that a different ending is possible. A hope that one day we will make our way across this great divide and a reminder that people who were strangers and people who are different and believe in different things have loved each other before.

“Sometimes it seems that our convictions / Side of the fence that we sand on / Makes us all too damn different to get along / But I’ve seen strangers love each other / Like a mother does her son / What we see ain’t only all that’s going on”

Combs has already received widespread attention for another song he wrote and released last summer: “Six Feet Apart”, which was in response to the state of the world in relation to the pandemic. The track was among six new songs included on Combs What You See Ain’t Always What You Get Deluxe Album, released in October of 2020, including “Forever After All”, which debuted at No. 2 on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 Chart – the highest entrance ever for a male country solo artist. Combs also received his tenth-consecutive No. 1 single at country radio, a first on Billboard Country Airplay chart. Additionally, the country superstar made history as the first artist ever to have their first two solo studio albums spend 25 weeks or more at No.1 on Billboard Top Country Albums Chart – breaking Taylor Swift’s previous record at 24 weeks.

Niko Moon Drops “Good Time” Remix Featuring Shaggy

Niko Moon’s remix of “GOOD TIME” with Reggae singer, Shaggy is available now on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new track.

NYCountry Swag 2021 Artist to Watch Niko Moon has released a new version of his Top 10 debut single “GOOD TIME” featuring GRAMMY Award-winning artist, Shaggy. While the original version of the gold-certified track nears the top 5 at country radio and has already gained more than 157 million on-demand streams since it’s release, the remix offers a refreshing twist on an already chill song.

“Something bout a night this clear / makes your problems dissapear / so we just gonna stay right here and let the world go by / we just tryna catch a good time / even if it takes all night / pass that bottle round the campfire / sippin apple pie moonshine / tryna catch a good time”

The song is a summer anthem, and if you know Niko Moon at all, a Reggae remix is the perfect match for his contagiously positive vibes.  While “GOOD TIME” was the song to catapult his career as an artist, songs like  “Paradise to Me”, “Way Back”, “Good at Loving You”, and “Dance with Me”  give off the same infectious energy. Even “Drunk Over You”, a song about drinking away a break-up, disguises itself as a song that makes you want to dance behind its upbeat tune.

This remix slows things down with classic Reggae undertones as Shaggy adds his back-up vocals and own verse.

“Early morning up the sun is climbing / chillin on the beach is how I like it / paradise is how I would describe it / overwhelmed with joy and I can’t hide it / living it easy, easy living it all”

While Niko Moon may be a new face, his songs have been around for years in several musical genres. He has written dozens of songs for Zac Brown Band including hits like “Homegrown”, “Keep me in Mind”, “Loving You Easy”, “Beautiful Drug”, “Somebody I Used to Know”, “Roots”, “Family Table” and “My Old Man”. Additionally, he’s penned familiar tracks like Dierks Bentley’s “Gone” and Rascal Flatts’ “Back to Life”. Moon also wrote the #1 rock song “Heavy is the Head” and Avicii’s “Broken Arrows”.

Before tours were forced to cancel, Moon was on the Platonic Tour with Ryan Hurd. They played two nights at the Gramercy Theatre in NYC  in what ended up being two of the last shows of the tour just before the COVID-19 pandemic forced shows across the nation to cancel.

Niko Moon Releases Intimate Track “Dance With Me”

Niko Moon released a brand new track, “Dance With Me” available on all streaming platforms now.

Up and coming country artist, Niko Moon, known for his feel-good hits such as “Good Time” and “Paradise To Me,” released a new track titled “Dance With Me.” Although this track brings a similar mood, he would like the party to be much more intimate this time; just him and this new girl.

In the track, the lyrics portray a trip to Las Vegas that is not going well at all,  until the singer lays eyes on this woman, and suddenly he does not care about how bad he is doing at the casino. He then tests his luck and tries to persuade her to hit the town with him because, as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Something ‘bout the way you look tonight / shining brighter than those neon, Vegas lights / got me feeling like I wanna roll the dice / and try my luck with you

Niko Moon New Song Dance With Me

Although Moon’s debut EP, Good Time was just released this past February, he is not new to country music. He has worked with Zac Brown Band in the past, writing, and produced songs such as “Beautiful Drug,” “Homegrown,” “Loving You Easy,” and many more. Moon’s style is a little different and at face value, it should not work—sprinkling his calm, subtle voice-over hip-hop, snap-track beat, acoustic strings, and an overall beach vibe–but somehow it does perfectly, making him so unique in this industry. We look forward to what is next for this very talented songwriter, producer, and now, entertainer.

Ryan Hurd & Niko Moon Bring the Platonic Tour to NYC

Niko Moon NYC

Last night country music fans in New York City were in for a real treat. Singer-songwriter and rising artist, Ryan Hurd brought his ‘Platonic Tour’ to Manhattan’s Gramercy Theatre featuring special guest, Niko Moon as the opener.

Tasked with warming up the crowd, Niko Moon took the stage first. The songwriter turned solo-artist is one to look out for in country music. We chatted with him before the show about the feel of his music and his excitement for playing for New York fans. Check out our Swag Session below. Moon sang several songs, giving fans a taste of his own music, as well as, songs he has written for other artists, namely Rascal Flatts and Zac Brown Band.

The singer sang his own songs like “GOOD AT LOVING YOU” and “PARADISE TO ME.” Highlights of his set included the medley of songs he wrote for Zac Brown Band, including “Keep Me In Mind,” as well as the song he wrote with Shay Mooney from Dan + Shay for Rascal Flatts, “Back To Life.” According to Moon though, getting to sing “Homegrown,” a song he wrote for ZBB was one of his favorites to share with the crowd.

Of course, Moon had to end his set with his first song going to country radio in two weeks, entitled “GOOD TIME.” The singer got the crowd pumped to groove along to the soon to be smash. “It’s a simple song guys, life is short you feel me, life is short,” adding, “Let’s get this shit going! Good time!” It’s safe to say that he garnered many NYC fans, during his incredible opening set.

The man of the night, Ryan Hurd took the stage next, immediately singing three of his groovy and vibe-filled songs to the crowd, including “Platonic,” “Her Name Was Summer,” and “City Girl.” Before singing his love song, written for wife, Maren Morris, “Diamonds Or Twine,” the singer-songwriter thanks fans for showing up tonight and shared some personal details with fans.

Ryan Hurd NYC

“New York City, night one, how we feeling?! Well, my name is Ryan if we never met before. Thank you so much for coming to our show tonight […] Seeing you all tonight is making me really happy.” In the wake of the tornado in Nashville, Hurd admitted to feeling really tired, but once again, thanked fans and his city for their unwavering support. “I’m really proud of my town for coming together, Nashville Tennessee. Sometimes it’s hard to be away from home when something bad happens, but you guys are giving me life tonight,” he said, as fans erupted into cheers.

Hurd went on to sing a cover of Taylor Swift’s “False God,” as well as some of his other songs, including, “Florida With a Girl” and “Panorama.” Of course, when he got to the middle of his set and sang “Hold You Back,” fans surprised Hurd by singing back all the words to the song as loud as they could. Hurd called the praise, “a really special moment in time,” and thanked fans again for their support.

Continuing the momentum, Hurd reminded fans that he started as a songwriter, writing songs for other artists across different genres. Fans went crazy as Hurd and his band gave their rendition of “Heartless,” cut by Diplo and Morgan Wallen and Lady Antebellum’s number one single, “What If I Never Get Over You,” another song penned by the singer.

“I love living in Nashville. I love writing country music. I wrote this song and I never thought anyone would really hear it and believe it was special,” adding, “I think country music is cool because we write universal feelings that each one of us has felt before,” he declared, just before mesmerizing fans with the Lady A single.

Hurd ended his eclectic and fascinating set with arguably some of his most successful songs, including “To a T, “Michigan for the Winter,” and a number one song he penned for Luke Bryan, “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset.” The singer returned to the stage for one final encore song, but first had to address the fans one last time. “I’m really thankful to be here with you tonight,” he said, “Please be nice to each other. This is my prayer for you tonight as you leave.” Hurd ended the night with his beautiful song, “Wish for the World.”

Hurd and Moon will return to New York City tonight to play for another sold-out crowd. We are excited to see what’s next for both artists, as we know big things are on the horizon for both talents!
