Luke Combs Performs Another New Track, “Cold As You”

Cold As You

Luke Combs is a superstar in country music and can write songs about love, self-reflection, relationships, and more topics with the best of them. But there is one subject in which he masters; beer. Beers for break-ups, beers for nights at the honky-tonk; whatever the occasion, he can write a hit about it. Combs premiered an unreleased song titled “Cold As You” for his fans last month on social media. Watch it below:

“Cold As You” is a song about the type of bar that helps mend broken hearts. Combs paints the picture of the ambiance, like how “Whiskey River” is playing on the jukebox, how the bathrooms stalls are covered in phone numbers, but most importantly, how the beer they serve is almost as cold as the one who left them.

And plenty damn many when you want one more / This broke heart fool on an old barstool / drinking beer almost as cold as you

With all this downtime from touring, many artists have been writing new music and performing it on their social media pages. Combs is one artist who has been especially taking advantage of it.

Combs’ tour was slated to start his tour in September, with two dates at Madison Square Garden on November 30th and December 1st. It would be a shame if COVID-19 cancels those shows as well.

Don’t miss another new song from Combs by following him on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter.

Country Music Songs Inspired By The COVID-19 Pandemic

Luke Combs COVID-19

Coronavirus has taken the world by storm – a storm nobody saw coming in a million years – the last couple of months and we are finally starting to see the other side. Even though this virus changed the way we had to live our lives for a little while, putting a stop to all live music events, musicians took this time to do what they do best; channel inspiration and create music.

Here are five country music songs that have been recorded and released during the quarantine.

“Six Feet Apart” – Luke Combs

Co-written by Brent Cobb and Rob Synder, Combs depicts the state of how uncomfortable we all feel as well as the sadness he was feeling at the beginning of the lockdown stages. The song captured the universal feeling of uncertainty as everybody tried to piece together the shift. He sings, “I miss my mom, I miss my dad // I miss the road, I miss my band // Giving hugs and shaking hands // Well, it’s a mystery I suppose just how long this thing goes // But they’ll be crowds and they’ll be shows // There will be light after dark someday when we aren’t six feet apart.”

“Between Me and the End of the World” – Adam Hambrick

This song is a tribute to all of the frontline workers who step up and step in during times of trouble. Hambrick’s wife is a physician assistant and was fighting on the frontlines of COVID and he offered his perspective. He sings: “Facing all the fire the devil can’t hurt // It’s a hell of a thing // Watching you stand in between // Me and the end of the world”

“The Optimist” – Kelleigh Bannen

Bannen describes her transformative love with her husband and their continued story throughout quarantine with “wine drunk kitchen dances.” At the time of the release, the singer + songwriter shared on her Instagram, “I could use a little extra optimism right now, and maybe you could too. I sang this in my kitchen a few weeks back….it was only ever intended to be a little home demo, but this season has a way of reframing everything in its path, even simple songs. So I thought I’d share it with you, maybe it will bring you a little extra hope and human connection today.”

“Stay Home” – Big & Rich

One of the first acts to bring music into the situation, Big & Rich brought some comedy in the style of music talking about homeschooling, the persistent search for toilet paper, crazy kids, and staying home in your underwear.

“We’re all about half crazy // Kids are bouncin’ off the wall // Yoga’s done got canceled // Mama’s pacin’ down the hall // Homeschool’s now in session // And I’m pullin’ out my hair // It’s halfway through the mornin’ // I’m still in my underwear”

“When Life Is Good Again” – Dolly Parton

Dolly always provides comfort when you need it. During this time, she shared her talent with the world and also donated one million dollars to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Hospital for a Coronavirus cure. At the end of May, the songstress released the official music video for “When Life Is Good Again.” Parton has continuously shared her support for the frontline workers on her Instagram page. Lastly, during this difficult time, the singer + songwriter started a weekly series Goodnight with Dolly where she virtually read bedtime stories to children.

“Since our world was forever changed by the COVID virus, I have felt a deep respect and appreciation for all of our frontline responders,” says Parton. “This video is to pay respect to them and to remind all of us that this too shall pass. If we pull together as a community, we can rise above and look forward to more beautiful days on the horizon.”

Music will continue to inspire us as we face the end of our lockdown situations and slowly but steadily we will finally have live events again.

Country Artists Making A Difference Through Music

A huge part of our company is using our platform to give back to the community. We think it is important to support the heroes among us every day. Today, we wanted to highlight some artists in the country music industry, who have taken it upon themselves to do the same and have been making a difference through their music.

  1. Walker Hayes Partners with NY Country Swag

We teamed up with our friend Walker Hayes and his ‘Be A Craig’ Fund, as well as,  NY Country 94.7 to help feed the frontlines. With each purchase of our Kindness Isn’t Canceled t-shirt, all profits will be donated to provide meals by IGC Hospitality for our healthcare heroes. Of course, the added incentive is that everyone who purchases a shirt will be invited to an EXCLUSIVE virtual show by Walker himself. The show will take place on June 17th. More details here.

  1. Kane Brown’s “Worldwide Beautiful”

The superstar recently released the long-awaited tour namesake single. “Worldwide Beautiful” is an impactful song that is geared towards encouraging people to acknowledge our differences but to love each other because of them rather than in spite of them. Brown released the song early because of today’s climate and is donating all proceeds to the Boys and Girls Club, an organization that enables young people to reach their full potential.

  1. Thomas Rhett is a Light with “Be A Light”

Thomas Rhett has been a pioneer for hope, during these unsettling times since day one. Back in March, Rhett teamed up with Reba, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott, and Christian singer Chris Tomlin to release a beautiful and much-needed song called “Be A Light.” All of the proceeds of this song are going to the COVID-19 Relief fun for MusiCares, which directly supports those in the music community.

  1. Luke Combs Gives Back

Platinum-selling megastar, Luke Combs has been a staple and a force in country music, even during these times. Along with premiering a powerful song entitled “Six Feet Apart,” back in April, Combs joined Miller Lite, supporting bartenders with a live stream event. The event raised millions of dollars for those who were out of work to the pandemic.

We look forward to seeing more and more country artists step up and find ways to help others give back, during these unprecedented times. As always, we are thankful for this community and for country music for getting us through.

Luke Combs Snags 8th Consecutive Number 1 with “Does To Me”

Luke Combs Does To Me
If there is one thing that country music fans across the genre can agree on, it is Luke Combs. The bonafide superstar can truly do no wrong. With just two albums under his belt, Combs has solidified himself as one of the best in the genre.

Combs continues to break his own records, with his single “Does to Me” featuring Eric Church marking his 8th consecutive number 1 single on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. This marks the singer-songwriter’s third number one track from his newest record What You See Is What You Get. Former hit singles “Beer Never Broke My Heart” and “Even Though I’m Leaving” found their way to the top last year.

“Does To Me” was written by Combs with Ray Fulcher and Tyler Reeve, and was a fan-favorite almost instantly. Fulcher has had a hand in writing hits for Combs before, including “When It Rains It Pours” and “Even Though I’m Leaving.” Check out some of his own songs and his rendition of “Does To Me” in our Swag Session below.

We knew Combs was special ever since 2017 when we named him one of our 2017 Artists to Watch, shortly after seeing him perform at his first New York City show ever. Take a look back at the show here.

There’s truly no stopping the hitmaker. As Combs continues to break the mold, we anticipate that there are even bigger things on the horizon for him!

Luke Combs Releases Stunning Studio Version of “Six Feet Apart”

Luke Combs Six Feet Apart

Amidst the chaos and uncertainty in our world currently, an unwavering hero has emerged in music. Artists, songwriters, and singers alike have kept the music alive and well via online channels and streaming, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Country megastar, Luke Combs is one of the many talented artists that have created masterpieces during this time. Today, he released the studio version of his brand new song, “Six Feet Apart.”

Originally unveiled during a live stream for all his quarantined fans, “Six Feet Apart” is a lyrical journey through Combs’ experiences. The singer-songwriter wrote the song on April 14th with songwriters Brent Cobb and Rob Synder. According to Combs, “it’s about the current times and us looking forward to the day all of this is over.”

The somber ballad is truthful and inspiring. The song reminds us that everyone is impacted by the events of the current times in many different, yet the same ways. For a superstar like Luke, we are sometimes remiss to the fact that he experiences things the same way we all do. It is both comforting and relatable hearing Combs sing about missing his family, missing live music, and just missing the world the way it used to be.

Despite the trials, he reminds us that “there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows [again]” and most importantly, “there will be light after dark.” This was the message we needed to continue to persevere through these difficult times. Combs can truly do no wrong, but this song is definitely a special one. Check out the full lyrics of the beautiful track here.

To keep up with Luke Combs follow him on InstagramFacebook, and Twitter.

“Six Feet Apart” is now available everywhere you buy or stream music. Take a listen below and check out more new recently released music here on our ‘New Country Music’ playlist. Be sure to give the playlist a follow for your weekly new country music fix.

LUKE COMBS – “Six Feet Apart” Lyrics

When the dogwoods start to bloom
And the crickets hum their tune
It’s usually about the time
That I feel most alive

But the news has all been bad
And the world just seems so sad
I ain’t had much else going on
So I sat down and wrote this song

I miss my mom, I miss my dad
I miss the road, I miss my band
Giving hugs and shaking hands
It’s a mystery I suppose
Just how long this thing goes
But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows
And there will be light after dark
Some day when we aren’t six feet apart

First thing that I’m gonna do
Is slide on in some corner booth
Take the whole damn family out
And buy my buddies all a round
Pay some extra on the tab
Catch a movie, catch a cab
Watch a ballgame from the stands
Probably overwash my hands

I miss my mom, I miss my dad
I miss the road, I miss my band
Giving hugs and shaking hands
It’s a mystery I suppose
Just how long this thing goes
But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows
And there will be light after dark
Some day when we aren’t six feet apart

I miss my mom, I miss my dad
I miss the road, I miss my band
Giving hugs and shaking hands
It’s a mystery I suppose
Just how long this thing goes
But there’ll be crowds and there’ll be shows
And there will be light after dark
Some day when we aren’t six feet apart

Well there will be light after dark
Some day when we aren’t six feet apart

Luke Combs Revealed A Brand New Song On Livestream

Luke Combs Livestream

2020 ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee, Luke Combs went live on social media last night to perform a few songs for all his quarantined fans.

The first song of his short set was “Lovin’ on You” from his most recent album, What You See Is What You Get. Although some Facebook listeners couldn’t hear it due to audio issues, Combs hit every extended note perfectly, sounding like it was straight off the record. After that, he told his audience that he had just written a new song yesterday with Brent Cobb and Rob Snyder. Although he was a bit wary about debuting it so early, after practicing all day he felt the over 20 thousand people watching deserved to hear it. “Six Feet Apart” is about the things he misses during quarantine life and the first things he’s going to do when it’s all over. Combs spreads some positivity at the end of the chorus with the lyrics “It’s a mystery I suppose, just how long this thing goes, but they’ll be crowds and they’ll be shows. There will be light after dark, one day when we aren’t six feet apart.”

Check out the complete lyrics here and listen to the song in the video below.

Next, he performed one of his biggest hits and concert setlist staples, “She Got the Best of Me”. To end the night he performed a cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”. Not knowing what to expect coming from one of the more traditional country artists, this blew us away. Combs and his powerhouse vocals delivered a stunning acoustic version of the chart-topping hit from 2006. Combs admitted he used to sing this song during soundcheck at his live shows.

While many of us are going through difficult times, we turn to music and use it as an escape from our real-world hardships. It’s so great that artists such as Luke Combs can utilize the technology we are given to bring live music back into our lives. We look forward to many more mini-live stream shows from country artists alike!

Jameson Rodgers Features Luke Combs on “Cold Beer Calling My Name”

Cold Beer Calling My Name

Who doesn’t look forward to a cold beer at the end of a long day or week? We might not be able to cheers with friends right now, but boy can we enjoy some new music from Jameson Rodgers featuring superstar Luke Combs.

Rodgers, one of our NYCS Swag Spotlights from back in February of 2018 and most recently one of our 2020 Artists to Watch, just dropped “Cold Beer Calling My Name” which features his buddy and labelmate Luke Combs. The song, written by Alysa Vanderheym, Brett Tyler, Hunter Phelps, and Jameson Rodgers, is a midtempo bop, perfect for waving your hands back and forth, even if you are just doing it in your living room for the time being.

Describing the typical long work week and the buzzy excitement you feel once you’ve accomplished that long Friday, “Cold Beer Calling My Name” is blue-collar magic. As the story unfolds, you can vividly follow each step that leads to the crack of a beer can.

“There’s a cold beer calling my name, feel a good time coming, got a new song humming / and the sunset’s doing its thing / feeling lucky as a 7, yea sometimes heaven is a pocket full of payday green / and my baby putting sugar on me / yeah it’s sure been a pretty damn good day and there’s a cold beer calling my name”

Combs starts the second verse before they join in together each of their vocals complimenting the other. The final chorus just begs for an audience to be singing it back to the singer and we can’t wait until Rodgers sings this one at Mercury Lounge on September 9th (the rescheduled date from last month’s Grew Up In the Country Tour). For tickets and more info head to jamesonrodgers.com.

Put a little chill in your Tuesday as you look forward to brighter days ahead!
