Eric Church Preaches Honesty in “Stick That In Your Country Song”

Stick That in your Country Song Eric Church

Country music fans can rejoice because ‘The Chief’ himself, Eric Church released a new song earlier today. “Stick That In Your Country Song” is both in your face and empathetic, but ultimately brilliant.

Church is not one to shy away from uncomfortable situations, and this song embodies just that. The lyrics reflect the country’s current climate, making mentions of Detroit, our filled jails, unjust deaths of young people, and people who do not get the recognition that they deserve for their work, like teachers. Church encourages other musicians to write about the ‘real stuff’ in their music. A rare outside cut for the usual songwriter, “Stick That In Your Country Song” was written by Davis Naish and Jefferey Steele is heading to country radio this Monday, June 29th.

Drop me off in Baltimore / Where every other window got a plywood board / Where dreams become drugs and guns / The only way out is to shoot or run / Stick that in your country song, yeah / Take that one to number one, yeah / And get the whole world singing along, yeah / Stick that in your country song, yeah”

In this song, he uses his platform to spotlight the horrors and the discrimination that Americans face day after day currently. Ultimately, this song is just another example of Church’s bravery, as he is never afraid to speak his truth. It is a true rally cry for the disenfranchised. It also happens to hit hard both lyrically and sonically.

According to Church, “Stick That In Your Country Song” is just the start of more to come. “It’s gonna be the tip of the spear for what’s coming after, and it’s a big spear. I believe it’s the best we’re ever been in our career.” We cannot wait for more!
