Lee Brice earns his 9th career and 4th consecutive number one (#1) song with “Memory I Don’t Mess With.”
Lee Brice is an artist that we believe has not gotten enough recognition over the course of his career. However in the last few years, the tides have changed for the platinum-selling entertainer. His last four songs to hit country radio have made their way to the top spot. Today, we celebrate the singer’s newest number one single, “Memory I Don’t Mess With.”
The hit song follows “Rumor,” “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” ft. Carly Pearce, and “One Of Them Girls.” “Memory I Don’t Mess With” impacted country radio eleven months ago, and almost a year to the date of its release day found its way to the top of the charts. The song conveys the message of not wanting to recall the memories of the one who got away.

Country singer-songwriter, Lee Brice released his fifth studio album, Hey World today, November 20th. The 15-song project touches on many themes from love, death, heartbreak, drinking, and the current state of the world. Keep reading below as we dig deeper into each track.
Lee Brice’s new album ‘Hey World’ is available now, November 20th
Lee Brice has been a powerhouse in country music since his 2010 debut album Love Like Crazy. In that time, he has had eleven top-10 hits, seven of which reaching the number one spot. His newest album, Hey World, out today, already has two number one songs in “One of Them Girls” and his collaboration with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” The former of which is also his highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching the number 17 spot on a pop-dominated chart.
“Hey World is just my next step in life. Where I am, who I am, what I love, and what I feel,” Brice said in a recent press release. “From the songs to the production to the order they play in, I always have and still do make it my goal to get better and better at what I do. Short of my family, my wife, and friends, my music is the deepest part of me. So, I am overjoyed to say that I think I have made my best project to date.”
As stated before, there are a variety of different topics covered throughout the album, making each of the 15 tracks its own short story. This is noticeable right out of the gate within the first five songs. “Atta Boy” is sung for a father who raised his children the right way and for the friends who take other friends’ keys when they had too much to drink.
“One of Them Girls” is about a guy at the bar who is infatuated with this particular girl and he tries to gauge what she is all about. “More Beer” is a fun, drinking anthem that will bring listeners back to their college football tailgate days; comparable to previous Brice hits “Drinking Class” and “Parking Lot Party.” The singer in “Memory I Don’t Mess With” contradicts himself by saying he does not want to reminisce about a certain girl but then discusses very specific moments he has shared with her. This former love interest was clearly the one who got away from him. Rounding out the first five, “Save the Roses” is very similar to Chris Janson’s “Hawaii on Me,” as the recently deceased man in the song tells everyone at his funeral to stop wasting their time mourning him and get out there and go fishing or do something they love. “Take it from me in my brand new point of view, the biggest regret of your life won’t be what you did, but what you didn’t do.”
The next three songs, “Don’t Need No Reason,” “Do Not Disturb,” and “Soul” all touch on love, but different aspects of it. In “Don’t Need No Reason,” the singer shows his vulnerability towards a woman and admits he does not need it to be a special occasion as his love for her is year-round. As this song shows admiration for a woman’s heart, “Do Not Disturb” shows admiration for a woman’s body. In this R&B-inspired track, the singer tells his lover to meet him at a hotel for some “do not disturb time” as he needs an escape from the rest of the world for a little while. “Soul” is a combination of both. At the beginning of the song, he calls her “Mozart in the sheets” and says she makes a sinner out of him, but then in the next verse he says “You don’t need to be undressin’ to feel like you’re impressin’. Must’ve died and gone to heaven.”
This album can get very deep at times, touching on current world issues like tragedy, mental health, and prejudice. In “Sons and Daughters,” Brice states his displeasure with all the hate in the world. People are quick to judge the stereotypical southerner–who is just trying to grow crops to feed their family–or police officer–who puts their life on the line to protect his/her community. Brice reminds us that everyone’s life is bigger than their own. They are someone’s child, someone’s brother or sister, and maybe even someone’s mother or father; the hate you give to them impacts not only them but their friends and family’s lives as well.
“Lies” is a message for all those struggling with self-image who don’t think they are good enough or worth anything. Brice reminds them that “the cruelest lies of all the lies we tell are the ones we tell ourselves.” The title track serves as Brice’s letter to the universe, telling it to stop with all the tragedies. He can longer turn on the television without hearing bad news. Between COVID-19, racial discrimination, and political division, Brice’s heart has “had all it can take.” This track features former The Voice contestant, Blessing Offor, who takes the second verse and provides beautiful harmonies in the final chorus.
To contrast the social messages, there are several light-hearted, pure-country tracks sprinkled throughout the album. Along with “More Beer,” there’s “Good Ol’ Boys” and “If You.” “Good Ol’ Boys” is an ode to the southern man who works hard, closes a bar down, and finishes a good fight. “If You” is pretty much a big middle finger to everyone who disrespects the southern lifestyle. Brice expresses how he is accepting of everyone, but if they got a problem with him and his friends he “don’t give a f**k.”
We agree with Brice in that this may be his best project to date. This album has a little something for everyone: for those trying to get in their feels, those trying to seduce their lover, and for those just trying to have a good time. Whether you’re a Lee Brice fan or not, one has to commend his courage for tackling issues such as these. Brice says “I stand by everything I have ever done, but pull from it as well to help me exceed my own expectations. Because of my team, my co-producers, my engineers, my label, I was able to make what I hope will be my most successful album to date.”

Ahead of the 54th Annual CMA Awards set to take place tonight, Wednesday, November 11th at 7/8c on ABC, two early winners were revealed.
Miranda Lambert, Carly Pearce, and Lee Brice take home early CMA Awards ahead of the November 11th show. Tune in at 7/8c on ABC
Miranda Lambert takes home the award for Video of the Year with her smash hit, “Bluebird”. The award-winning video was directed by Trey Fanjoy. Additionally, Carly Pearce and Lee Brice received the award for Musical Event of the Year for their hit song, “I Hope You’re Happy Now”.
Pearce shared her emotional reaction to the win in an Instagram post, adding “This was the moment I found out as I sobbed on the phone in my pjs. Thank you, thank you, thank you. In a year that started as the hardest I’ve ever experienced, YALL are helping me see the big, bright, BEAUTIFUL light at the end of the tunnel.”
Pearce’s co-star on the track, Lee Brice, recently tested positive for COVID-19, will not be in attendance at the show tonight. Instead, fellow friend and country music artist, Charles Kelley of Lady A will take his place to perform the number one song with Pearce.

LeeBrice has proved with hit after hit, that he knows how to set the tone for a good time. Brice brings the party, once again, in his amped-up tailgate anthem, “More Beer” in what could be seen as the 2020 version of his hit song “Parking Lot Party.” The latest track is from his upcoming album, Hey World, available November 20th.
With so much heaviness in the world and a return to normalcy still up in the air, Brice knows how to remind his fans of the fun, unforgettable nights with friends that have been paused for much of 2020.
“I took Adam and Brian (co-writers) on the road with me for a weekend, and we proceeded to write three of my favorite songs in a day and a half,” says Brice in a recent press release. “I set up my whole band, and in my head, I heard this song, M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.” I wanted to write some show openers, so we wrote “If You” and “More Beer” with just that in mind.”
The simple but catchy lyrics are the perfect 2-minute trip down memory lane of those memorable (or not so memorable) football tailgates or late nights with friends that so many of us are desperately missing right now. Brice has a way of bringing you back in time and helping you escape the realities of the world.

Lee Brice’s “One Of Them Girls” earns him his third consecutive number-one as the song hits the top spot on the country charts this week.
Brice has given us incredible music for over a decade. Even so, in our opinion, he is one of the more underrated singer-songwriters in the genre. Despite that notion, Brice has found more mainstream success in the last couple of years. Today, his song “One Of Them Girls” found its way to the top of the charts, marking his third consecutive number-one single after “Rumor,” and his duet with Carly Pearce, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”
Brice released “One Of Them Girls” back in April, as the perfect prologue to “Rumor.” The now number one single is all about your thoughts before you meet your potential lover. True to Brice as a person, the song is honest, innovative, and imaginative. Written by the singer with incredible song-writers, Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Johnson, it was just a matter of time before this incredible tune got the accolades it deserves.

Mega-hitmaker Lee Brice appeared on Fox & Friends for a live living room performance – initially to promote his single and accompanying music video for “One of Them Girls” last week. We’re shown a sneak peek of the music video that shines a light on first responders, while the singer shares that the song depicts “the kind of girl all the boys are looking for at heart”.
During the segment, Brice opens up about how he’s kept busy during the quarantine – with finding new ways to connect with fans and working on his record. Most importantly, he’s appreciated having “true connected family time with [his] kids” who are “bouncing off the walls”.
In the midst of opening up about how his life has been affected by the COVID-19 world health crisis, the songwriter reveals a more fitting plan for how he hoped to touch his audience at that moment. This new one by Lee Brice acts as the perfect prologue to “Rumor”, which was released July 2018 and hit #1 on Billboard and Mediabase charts. “One of Them Girls” is a stream of consciousness that personifies those thoughts before you meet a potential lover. An honest fondness seeps out of these lyrics that exist solely to wonder about this female personality. Ashley Gorley, Dallas Davidson, Ben Johnson, and Brice included a healthy dose of hypothetical scenarios to play around with what one might find when getting to know this obscure yet charming presence in the room.

In its attempt to figure out a girl, the song becomes just as abstract. The imagery is blurry, but it’s there. Nonetheless, this song succeeds in its identity as a thought-provoking piece.
Brice was pulled to write this song during a moment of appreciation for his family on Father’s Day of last year. “But, it’s so very much about that girl that all of us—deep down, at the end of the day, at the end of our lives—really hope to have loving us,” he admits. The bridge supports this idea and suggests that all of those voiced characteristics were inspired by his wife, Sara. It seems that he solved the puzzle of one of them girls.

Singer-songwriter Lee Brice doesn’t have a residency at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury, but you would’ve thought so the way the Long Island fans responded to his performance Friday night. Whether he was singing an old song, a new song or just talking to the crowd, the audience shared their love for the Grammy-nominated country-star and he gave it right back.
He came out onto the rotating center stage to “Drinking Class.” He walked over to all sides of the stage, holding the mic up to the audience, turning it into a sing-a-long. He performed his number one song “Hard To Love” next, followed by a remix of another top-ten song, “That Don’t Sound Like You.”
Brice then debuted a new song for us called “One of Them Girls” that he said will head to radio sometime in the next few weeks. It has a modern feel with a rock and roll twist and will be the lead single off his upcoming album.
Throughout the night, fans from all sections would run-up to, or even onto the stage to high-five, hug or get an autograph from Brice. Brice welcomed everyone with open arms; he even let one woman kiss him on the cheek. During his performance of “A Woman Like You,” a young boy ran up to the stage to get an autograph. Brice proceeded to give the boy a lesson on women. “Girls like it when you whisper to them; don’t ever get too loud,” he told the boy. He continued and sang the final chorus of his first-ever number one song.
Brice took a lot of time to speak to the audience. He told us multiple times that this venue was one of his favorite places to perform. A lot of artists just say those things to get a reaction from the crowd, but this time, between the sincerity in his voice and the loyalty of these fans, you truly believed him. Before playing his debut single, “She Ain’t Right,” he explained that he was shocked by how high it charted, stating it almost made the top 25. One fan then shouted “You’re number one in our hearts, Lee,” for the whole crowd to hear.
The next song he performed, “Beer,” was a fan favorite. There was a whole section of people wearing matching t-shirts with the word BEER on the front and the lyric “Canadian, Mexican, Heineken, American, they’re all real good friends of mine” on the back. They all flocked to the stage when he began playing it.
“If you don’t like old-school country music, I guarantee you will in the next 20 minutes,” Brice said before performing a string of covers that included “Be My Baby Tonight” by John Michael Montgomery and “Crazy Girl,” a song he wrote for Eli Young Band. His band then exited the stage so he could perform an acoustic version of his song, “Boy.” His band joined him back on stage for “Love Like Crazy.”
He said this next song, “Hope You’re Happy Now” was special for Valentine’s Day. He explained how hard it was to break-up with someone that you like a lot but you don’t see a future with and described a humorous fictional situation. “Well yeah, but it’s two weeks before Christmas so I can’t do it then. Then Christmas comes around you realize that it’s New Year’s and you have to wait ‘til after that. Then, next thing you know it’s Valentine’s Day and you can’t do it there either.” He expressed how grateful he was that Carly Pearce asked him to join her on this break-up song and asked the crowd to help him sing her part.
“I Drive Your Truck” is based on the true story of a father who lost his son in Afghanistan. Brice dedicated this song to the families of veterans and first responders who lost their lives on the front lines of combat. Lights surrounded the Nashville-native as he performed this heart-wrenching ballad. One member of the audience threw an FDNY shirt onto the stage which was met by cheers when Brice held it up for the lit-up theatre. Brice quickly transitioned to a more feel-good song in “Parking Lot Party” before exiting the stage.
After greeting fans and signing some autographs, he came back on stage singing his wedding track, “I Don’t Dance.” He announced his band members during his extended version of his most recent number one song, “Rumor” to close the night out. It’s safe to say, this will not be Brice’s last time performing at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury.

Carly Pearce, who was nominated for CMA Awards New Artist of the Year after such a successful year with singles “Every Little Thing” and newest release “Closer To You.” As she is putting the final touches on her sophomore album, Pearce released a sneak peek of her new song, “I Hope You’re Happy Now” which features country superstar, Lee Brice, earlier this week.
“I Hope You’re Happy Now” is a honey-soaked, whiskey-drenched track which makes for such a painfully truthful, raw, and real song. Written by Pearce herself alongside Luke Combs, Jonathan Singleton, and Randy Montana, the team wrote a song everyone can relate to.
The newest CMA nominee shared in a press release, “I am so excited to share such a personal part of my story with one of the best male vocalists in our format. Lee has the kind of gruff yet vulnerable quality to his sound that I envisioned for this duet and am grateful he agreed to join me.”
The song starts out with a classic country sound as Pearce and Brice’s vocals quickly fill the airwaves. With the opening lyrics stating, “I said I don’t love you a little too late / But I guess there ain’t ever a right time,” this song is intriguing off the bat. Moving into the chorus, “Well I guess you found what you were looking for / I guess my heart ain’t worth it anymore // I’m a wreck, I’m a mess / And I ain’t got nothing left / So I hope you’re happy now,” it speaks to a situation we have either been in personally or seen someone we know go through.
The two shared a short video on their Instagrams earlier this week for fans to listen to and reading the comments, we can tell people were very excited about this duet. Hearing both great sets of vocals, this song will be one that hits you hard. “It was an absolute pleasure working with Carly on this track,” said Lee. “She has such a beautiful and powerful voice and definitely has a huge career ahead of her.” Take a look at the lyric video below!
Pearce is currently on the road with Jason Aldean’s Ride All Night Tour while Brice is headlining shows across the country up until the Christmas season.
