The singer-songwriter is building a name for himself in the country music genre with his growing catalog of music, one song at a time. Today, Cooper is sharing his newest anthemic song to date. His brand new track, “Mama” is officially out now.

According to the singer, this track pays homage to the people that keep you upright. “To me, ‘Mama’ is about always having people in your corner fighting for you and wanting what’s best for you even when you don’t deserve it,” shared Cooper in a recent press release.

“I could blame it on a memory // I could blame it on my blood // But as soon as that poison hits me, I can’t ever get enough // I know I need some saving // Been driving with one headlight // I’ll get around to changing // But I ain’t gonna change tonight // So don’t put that on me Mama // I talked to God before // It feels like he don’t wanna hear from me no more // This devil in the bottle don’t wanna let me go // There ain’t no holy water gonna save my soul // Those prayers you sent through the ceiling // No they ain’t worth a heart like mine // God knows my shoulders don’t need the weight of the world tonight // Don’t put that on me Mama”

“Mama” is the perfect blend of catchy lyrics an a fiery sound full of guitar riffs and a killer beat. It is quite possibly his best song to date. Throughout the song, Cooper grapples with the desire to be saved or to continue his reckless ways. Kolby Cooper Drops Brand New Song “Running Away”

Kolby Cooper shares brand new song “Running Away,” out now, November 10th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the new track below.

Kolby Cooper continues to expand his impressive music catalog this year. In September, the creative singer-songwriter debuted a new song called, “Hello From The Road.” Today, Cooper is sharing another new track entitled, “Running Away.”

Much like Cooper’s previously released songs, “Running Away” features an honest, country-rock sound. The signature sound is evident through the new song, especially on the catchy hooks and choruses. “Running Away” captures the notion of wanting to be with someone so bad regardless of the situation and complications.  Cooper finds a way to make the song both relatable and authentic.

“The phone lights up at 3AM // That’s how I know you’re drunk and not with him // I don’t care // My walls are paper thin // If you were here, I’d pull you close // and tell you things you already know // let the candle light tangle our shadows // Come on baby, give me one night // I love you like a landslide // Ain’t gotta spend your whole life, running away”

Cooper continues to crank out music that cements his staying power in country music. With each and every new release, we get a deeper understanding of who the singer-songwriter is an artist and where he is headed on his musical journey.

Kolby Cooper: ‘ Boy From Anderson County To The Moon’ – Album Review

Kolby Cooper’s brand new album, Boy From Anderson County To The Moonis out now, August 19th on all streaming platforms. Take a listen and read our full review below.

In a world where Luke Combs is one of country music’s biggest stars and Chris Stapleton is sweeping awards shows, Kolby Cooper is a natural fit. With his debut full-length album with BBR/ Wheelhouse Records, Boy From Anderson County To The Moon, out today, Cooper is ready to step in, stand out, and shake things up.

“Boy From Anderson County To The Moon means so much to me,” says Cooper in a statement. “From the top to the bottom, each song is on here for a reason, and I couldn’t be more proud of it! I hope that when the fans listen to it, they hear how much work and how much of me went into this thing!”

Produced by Philip Mosley, the thirteen track collection was entirely co-written by the young singer-songwriter, who puts his own clever spin on lyrics, while mixing his in-jest takes with introspection and depth. He weaves his husky growl over a combination of wailing guitar riffs and poetic ballads in a way that’s sure to have him selling out stadiums in no time.

From the intense, yet radio-radio opening notes of “Are We On Fire?” through the final chords of “To the Moon,” it’s clear this debut is something special.

On the former, Cooper wails through a doomed relationship, as they both know it’s over but can’t seem to let go. The track builds to an anthemic chorus as he wonders who will be the first to end things.

“Is it my fault? // Is it your fault?// Girl who’s to blame? // Is everything we worked for goin’ up in flames? // Is this house burning down all around us? // We’d both be better off without us? // You say that you love me // And I’d never call you a liar // Is it just me or are we on fire? // Burning higher // Baby maybe I’m the gas and maybe you’re the lighter”

Meanwhile, “To the Moon,” named after Cooper’s YouTube series, is an introspective track inviting listeners to enjoy the important things in life while they have them. “Just ‘cause you got a little more dough // Doesn’t make you any better than the next guy // Yeah this life sure feels like it feels like too soon…Just pray there’s something higher than the moon.

While the album is bookended perfectly, there are many more stories to be told through the East Texas native’s thirteen tracks. On “Excuses,” he deals with an “It ain’t you, it’s me” situation that was inspired by his guitar player’s sudden breakup, while “Breaking News” is a smoldering Jason Aldean-esque up-tempo. That type of lyrical jest continues through “That Song Don’t Make No Sense,” “Her Favorite Songs,” and “Good for You,” which finds Cooper faking happiness for someone who’s moved on, “wishin’ what was good for me was good for you.”

One of the album’s absolute standouts is “Stars Fall Down,” a track that shows Cooper take on another role: Dad. In the moving love letter to his young daughters, the singer-songwriter shows his softer side, encouraging his daughters to always shoot for the stars.

“So when you take aim // Baby shoot for the sky // If you miss, it’ll be alright // I’m gonna love you no matter what // ‘Cause that’s just what a daddy does // Don’t be scared if you burn bright, but you burn out // Baby keep on shining // ‘Cause even stars fall down”

Likewise, the album’s title track reads like a love letter to Cooper’s wife, Jillian, who the singer-songwriter has known since third grade. Cooper tells Taste of Country, “I knew since the last record was more of a sad record about my dad passing away that I wanted this record to be more about where I am in life right now. I’m extremely blessed in every way: I’m married to the girl of my dreams, I’ve got two perfect little girls, and I get to go play shows for people that want to sing every word. So, I wanted to get that across on this one.”

“She made me better // She made me stronger // She made me want this dream so bad // She made me wish that forever wasn’t all the time we had // She showed me every single thing I didn’t know about me // And I thank God everyday that that girl found me // ‘Cause He made a plan // She made a choice // They made a man out of a boy from Anderson county”

Kolby Cooper may just be a “Boy from Anderson County,” but his career is certainly destined for the moon and beyond. Based on this album, we’re certain he’s going to end up amongst the brightest stars.

Kolby Cooper Drops New Song “Breaking News”

Kolby Cooper’s new song “Breaking News” is out now, April 15th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new song below.

Back in August, we introduced you to a new recording artist that we fell in love with, Kolby Cooper. The Texas native blew us away with his gritty charm and songwriting prowess. His debut EP Boy From Anderson County is still one of our favorites. Cooper continues to impress with his brand new song, “Breaking News,” out now.

The new song is the perfect combination of vulnerability and undeniable confidence. “Breaking News” is about a man who moved on, after being broken up with, and when he ends up at the same place as his ex, his ex is floored. The toxicity that the song expresses is what makes it so relatable and raw. Cooper definitely reminds us all that we do not have any time for toxic relationships!

“You look like you just saw a ghost // When we walked in // All I did is say hello, how ya been // Looked like through me like I’m someone that you don’t know // you like you just saw a ghost // What’s got you staring at us // The dress she’s wearing or the fact that we showed up”

Cooper is an artist that you MUST put on your radar. He is an absolute star in the making. “Breaking News” is one of the most innovative songs we have heard in a while.

Who Is Kolby Cooper? The Story Behind His Journey to Country Music

Who is Kolby Cooper? The singer-songwriter joined us to chat about his journey to country music. Get to know the rising star here…

kolby-cooper-ep-gabriel-muniz

Kolby Cooper

The Beginning:

A little over a week ago, we introduced you to a new artist in country music, Kolby Cooper. His major-label debut project Boy From Anderson County is currently one of our favorites of 2021. We chatted with Cooper about his EP and his journey to country music. Learn more about the newcomer below.

Growing up in Bradford in East Texas, Cooper lived a typical country boy lifestyle. The singer recalls growing up on a ranch and riding horses as a young kid. Of course, country music was all he listened to at first. “My dad was always playing Texas Country,” he tells us. “He also introduced me to southern rock and I kinda took that and ran with it.

It was not until Cooper turned thirteen that he really considered playing music himself. “Around 13 or so I started playing music and I kinda figured out that it felt a lot cooler to play music than it did to go be a nurse or to do whatever I was planning on doing in college,” shared the singer.

During this time in his childhood, the singer lost his father to his battle with cancer. “We really bonded over music, so I think it definitely drove me to want to make music.” Additionally, the singer shared, “It just felt right. It was something he was proud of me for doing.”

With blessings from both his mother and his then girlfriend (now wife), Cooper put college on hold to pursue his dream. Combining his love for country music, like his favorite Waylon Jennings, and rock bands like Blink 182 and Nirvana, Cooper was destined to create a sound all his own.

The Turning Point:

Just out of high school, the singer was able to capitalize on his one-of-a-kind talent. He amassed over 100 million streams prior to his debut major-label release. “For the first time in a few years, I took a couple of minutes to think about it and I was like damn, I’m right where I’m supposed to be and I’m doing what I’m meant to do,” shared the singer, reflecting on his journey thus far.

Cooper later added, “There’s been a lot of amazing moments. Whether it be playing our first decent size show […] all the way to playing our first big sold-out show.” Both personally and professionally, Cooper could not be happier with where he is now. He credits his wife and two young daughters for all that he has been able to accomplish so far.

Today:

Cooper created his EP, Boy From Anderson County from the joy he was feeling. “I wanted to make a happy record.” Adding later, “I wanted to kinda show anyone who didn’t know who I was or fans who do know who I am, I wanted to show where I am in my life.”

Although Cooper truly loves all six songs off his project, the singer-songwriter identified the title track and “Way To Go” as two standouts. With the latter, “I really go to explore musically areas that I haven’t gone before.” For the autobiographical tune “Boy From Anderson County,” Cooper got to share his full truth with his fans.

Similarly, the comedic and clever song “Her Favorite Songs” also pulled from a real-life experience. “Every song I write, it’s pulling from some real story, whether it be my story or someone else’s,” declares the rising star.

Fans can gear up for the full-length version of Boy From Anderson County slated to come out at the top of 2022. Cooper also promises that he will continue to hit the road hard, touring as much as he can throughout the rest of the year.

Kolby Cooper: ‘Boy From Anderson County’ – EP Review

Kolby Cooper’s EP Boy From Anderson County is out today, August 6th, on all streaming platforms. Check out our full review and listen to the new music below.

There is nothing like witnessing an artist’s debut project. Today, singer-songwriter, Kolby Cooper is on full display. The rising artist officially dropped his debut EP, Boy From Anderson County. Cooper wears his heart on his sleeve on the release, sharing all sides of his personality and his story with fans.

The record kicks off with one of the most personal songs on the EP. The title track depicts the love story between Cooper and his wife. The singer thanks his wife for making him the man he is today, teaching him all about life and himself, and of course, convincing him to follow his dreams.

“She made me better // She made me stronger // She made me want this dream so bad // She made me wish forever // Wasn’t all the time we had // She showed me every single thing I didn’t know about me // and I thank god every day that that girl found me”

Next up, “Good For You” showcases the rough and rowdy side of Cooper’s vocals. Written by Cooper along with singer-songwriter Jameson Rodgers and Brent Anderson, the song feels radio-ready. It has the right mix of grit and rhythm. Lyrically the premise of the song is relatable, as Cooper sings about pining after a girl, who did not want him.

On “Excuses,” Cooper slows it down again. This time, the singer somberly shares how it feels to watch a relationship come to its end. The old “it ain’t you, it’s me” is just the start of all the excuses. Similarly on “Way To Go,” Cooper expresses the end of a relationship, but this time putting the blame on himself. The singer’s honesty and vulnerability is evident on this standout track.

Picking the tempo up yet again, “The Song Don’t Make No Sense” is an ode to a complicated ex and break-up. The high-caliber innovation within this song is both refreshing and fun to listen to. The innovation continues with the last song off the record, “Her Favorite Songs.” Cooper has the last laugh on this song, as he sings about his nemesis’ girl singing all his favorite songs.

“Cause now when you get home // Your speakers are full-blown // Your girl is singing at the top of her lungs // Spin in the kitchen // Hey baby, listen // You tell her how you never heard this one // I know that you heard it // I know you know who it is // Ain’t the first song she’s played this playlist”

Cooper’s debut project is nothing short of fantastic. He is the real deal, both as a vocalist and as a songwriter. Fans should keep the singer on their radar.
