Here Are The 2022 CMA Awards Nominations

The Country Music Association has revealed the nominees for The 56th Annual CMA Awards! Lainey Wilson leads the pack with six nominations, while Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Chris Stapleton, and songwriter/producer Shane McAnally secure five nominations apiece.
The awards show will air on Wednesday, November 9th on ABC at 8PM ET. Check out the full list of nominations below.

Keith Urban Drops New Song “Brown Eyes Baby”

Keith Urban drops brand new song, “Brown Eyes Baby” out now, July 8th, on all streaming platforms. Listen to the brand new song below.

Keith Urban is back with another new song “Brown Eyes Baby”, available everywhere now. It follows his latest single “Nightfalls”, released back in March. 

We were able to catch Urban on the Today Show a couple of weeks back, where he debuted the then-unreleased song. Urban has been playing “Brown Eyes Baby” at his shows ever since they kicked off “The Speed of Now World Tour” in June. Fans have been loving the new song and begging for its release, and now it is finally here!

Keith Urban Drops Brand New Song “Nightfalls”

Keith Urban releases first new music of the year with new single “Nightfalls” available everywhere today, Thursday March 31st.

Keith Urban surprised fans with a new music announcement, just two days before the song would drop. Captioning a video on socials “The one where the phone falls in the middle of making an announcement: part 1” (a clear reference to the show FRIENDS, as it also plays in the background). In the video, he updates his fans about his Vegas shows and shares “I also have something exciting to tell you. We have a brand new song coming out this Thursday and it’s called “Night -”… cutting his sentence short as the phone *falls* and as “to be continued” shows across the screen. The next day, he posted ‘part 2’ saying, “Okay, picking up where we left off. It’s called “Nightfalls” and it’s out this Thursday”.

Could this be a hint to another ‘part 2’ from Urban that we’ve been waiting on since the release of Urban’s last album, Speed of Now: Part 1 back in September of 2020? The album included hit songs like “One Too Many” with P!nk, “Superman”, “Polaroid”, “God Whispered Your Name”, and “We Were”. The ‘Part 1’ of this project has fans still anxiously waiting for the inevitable ‘Part 2’, and hopefully “Wild Hearts”, released late last summer, and now “Nightfalls” will be the first two singles that lead us into the ‘Part 2’ era.

Today, when announcing the release of “Nightfalls”, Urban shared that “two summers have gone by without touring and the desire to have that feeling again inspired every part of creating this song”. This is exactly the energy we feel throughout the entirety of the song and we can not wait to hear it come alive on stage this summer, hopefully alongside even more new music!

Written by Greg Kurstin, Urban, and Maureen McDonald, “Nightfalls” is a song about living completely in the moment, enjoying time as you go through it, and forgetting any pressures from the past or the future that can threaten enjoying the moment you’re living in right now. “Nightfalls” will have you up on your feet, wanting to be dancing the night away with your person and drunk on each other when the night falls.

“We’ve been through some hard times, I ain’t gonna lie // But I don’t wanna think about it, not with you right here tonight // Who knows if tomorrow, is even gonna come // Stay with me and dance until we see the rising sun // We got lights, we got beer // We got everybody here”

You can be sure to catch “Nightfalls” on the ‘Speed of Now World Tour 2022’ with Ingrid Andress, which will stop in New Jersey on Friday, July 29th at PNC Bank Arts Center and on Long Island on Saturday, October 22nd at UBS Arena.

The 55th Annual CMA Awards Recap ft. Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs & More

Here is the 55th Annual CMA Awards recap featuring big wins by country superstars Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and more.

 

The 55th Annual CMA Awards took place last night (November 10th), returning to its normal format: one venue, no masks, no social distancing, and most importantly, a live audience! Luke Bryan hosted the historic night from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.  Chris Stapleton took home four awards, winning Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year with Starting Over, and Single and Song of the Year for “Starting Over.” Luke Combs won the final and most prestigious award of the night, Entertainer of the Year, an iconic moment for the artist.

The show began with a medley of hits from Entertainer of the Year nominee, Miranda Lambert. She sang “Mama’s Broken Heart,” “Bluebird,” “Gunpowder & Lead,” and several other hits. The running joke of the night was that host, Bryan was incapable of hosting the show alone, even though he has performed in front of massive crowds, has hosted previously, and is on television every week on American Idol. Other artists felt the need to join in and assist the first-time CMA host. His fellow American Idol judges, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry even joined him to announc the first award of the night, Song of the Year, which Stapleton took home.

One of the best parts of these award shows are the electrifying collaborations that we would not see anywhere else. Chris Young and Kane Brown took to the stage together to sing “Famous Friends;” Breland and HARDY joined Dierks Bentley for a performance of their chart-climbing single, “Beers On Me;” Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde teamed up for their brand new song “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” one of the highlights of the night, and Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood performed their number one song “If I Didn’t Love You.”

Early award announcements included Vocal Duo of the Year, which went to Brothers Osbourne, after a two-year run from Dan + Shay, who were also nominated. In a category that was stacked with talent, (HARDY, Mickey Guyton, Gabby Barrett, and Ingrid Andress) Jimmie Allen took home the New Artist of the Year award. Additionally, Old Dominion won the Vocal Group of the Year for the fourth straight year. They also performed their smash-hit “I Was On a Boat That Day” earlier in the show.

Although there were many standout moments throughout the night, there were a few that we loved the most. Some of our favorites include, Luke Combs debuting his brand new song “Doin’ This,” which is now available on all streaming platforms; Russell Dickerson bringing Sarah Frei, an amputee teen from Utah, on the CMA stage as well providing her with a wheelchair-accessible Chevrolet; Brittney Spencer and Madeline Edwards joining Mickey Guyton to perform her new song, “Love My Hair,” showing off their bountiful curls; and Chris Stapleton and Jennifer Hudson covering some of Aretha Franklin’s biggest hits in respect of the Queen of Soul. Fans and other artists were in awe of Hudson’s incredible vocal range, gathering grand reactions from Breland, Ashley McBryde, and HARDY in particular.

Other performers included Gabby Barrett who sang her number one song “The Good Ones;” Zac Brown Band who performed “Same Boat;” Keith Urban—“Wild Hearts;” Thomas Rhett—“Country Again;” Jimmie Allen—“Freedom Was A Highway;” Brother Osborne—“Younger Me;” Blake Shelton—“Come Back As A Country Boy;” Dan + Shay—“I Should Probably Go To Bed;” Chris Stapleton—“Cold;” and Eric Church—“Heart on Fire” with actual flames surrounding him.

Three categories were awarded before the show—two of them went to Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney for their song “half of my hometown.” The song won Best Musical Event and Music Video of the Year. Jenee Fleenor won the Musician of the Year for her incredible work on the fiddle.

At the end of the show, Carly Pearce was awarded Female Vocalist of the Year. Her fellow nominee, Ashley McBryde joined her on stage to help begin her speech, as she was clearly at a loss for words and overcome with emotion. The last two awards were given to Stapleton and Combs, for Male Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year, respectively. Bryan, who performed his latest single, “Up” earlier in the show, closed out the CMA Awards with a classic hit “I Don’t Want This Night to End.”

Here Are The 2021 CMA Awards Nominations

The Country Music Association has revealed the nominees for The 55th Annual CMA Awards! Eric Church and Chris Stapleton lead the pack with five nominations each, while Luke Combs, Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Maren Morris and Chris Young secure three nominations apiece.

Keith Urban’s New Song ‘Wild Hearts’ is for “Drifters” and “Dreamers”

Keith Urban’s new song “Wild Hearts” is out now, August 19th, on all streaming platforms. Take a look below as we dig a little deeper into the new track.

We haven’t heard much new music from the Keith Urban since the first release of his two-part project, The Speed of Now Part 1 back in September of 2020. His current single off the project, “One Too Many”, with P!nk is still climbing the charts, becoming Urban’s 43rd Top 10 in the US and reaching #1 in Canada and Australia. Separate from this project, Urban also appeared on two songs on Taylor Swift’s album Fearless (Taylor’s Version). 

Well, new music is finally here! (and hopefully the first of many leading into an inevitable Part 2 ???) “Wild Hearts” is Urban’s latest release and it is yet another song from the artist with a sound like no other and is a testament to the evolution of not just Urban’s music but of the collective genre. He is constantly elevating himself, which in turn helps to raise the bar for the rest of the genre. 

When it comes to songwriting, Urban doesn’t often dive deep into details about his own life. While he pulls from his own experiences, of course, he tends to write more generally, perhaps to have a broader reach when it comes to relatability – with some exceptions. Although the message Urban shared in “Wild Hearts” can in fact apply to so many, the track pulls from Urban’s own journey specifically in ways he has seldom done before. 

“Saw the man in black, spotlight in the air, heard a thousand screams, saw my dad’s stare // Feel like I’ve been running since the day that I was born, Eagle on my back, Phoenix on my arm”

From the start, these lyrics speak to what inspired Urban from the time he was young, a Johnny Cash concert with his Dad. He also adds the tattoo that can be seen every time he plays the guitar, a phoenix on his arm. A symbol of rebirth and rising from the ashes and something that he must deeply believe in and live by given not only the tattoo and its mention here, but the fact that it is also Urban’s noticeable logo. As well as the eagle tattoo on his back, a symbol of freedom, clearly, two aspects that Urban has lived by on his journey. 

“Wild Hearts”, co-written by Urban, Brad Tursi, Jennifer Wayne, and Eric Paslay, goes on to be an incredibly inspiring message for anyone that may have doubts about chasing a dream, from a guy who has done it himself. 

After the chorus and another one-of-a-kind Urban bridge, right in the middle of the song, Urban brings down the music and switches the vocal to make it seem as though he is speaking directly to the listener, a message he really wants them to hear. Quite literally saying “Now Listen”… 

“Has anyone ever told you you’ll never amount to anything? // You’re just wasting your time chasin’ the tail of a dragon kind of a dream // But I’m here to tell you anything can happen in this life // If you got the heart and the passion and a God lit fire inside”

“Wild Hearts” dares its listeners to walk away without being inspired.

Urban’s 2020 US tour was put on hold, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, but is expected to resume in 2022. He returns to the stage with a handful of US shows late this summer, followed by his Caesars Palace run in the Fall, and in December, he will kick off his ‘Speed of Now World Tour’ in Australia. Currently, the international superstar is staying busy as a judge on The Voice (AU).

Carly Pearce and Lee Brice’s “I Hope You’re Happy Now” took home an early win for Musical Event of the Year ahead of the 2021 ACM Awards airing this Sunday Night, April 18th.

During an interview with People magazine’s Topher Gauk-Roger, Carly Pearce and Lee Brice were surprised with the news of their early ACM win with “I Hope You’re Happy Now” for Musical Event of the Year.

ACM Awards Reveal Performance Setlist for Upcoming Show

The 2021 ACM Awards have revealed their performance setlist for the 56th Annual show. Taking the stage includes Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Luke Combs and many more. The special event will take place live from Nashville this Sunday, April 18th at 8PM ET on CBS. Take a look below for the setlist as it stands and be sure to tune in for some exciting surprises.

 

A recent press release from the ACM Awards notes the following:

“The 56th ACM Awards will feature an unprecedented number of world television premiere performances including Elle King and Miranda Lambert opening the show with “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” Dierks Bentley performing U2’s poignant classic “Pride (In The Name of Love)” with husband and wife duo The War and Treaty, Brothers Osborne (“I’m Not For Everyone”), Kenny Chesney (“Knowing You”), Eric Church (“Bunch Of Nothing”), Luke Combs (“Forever After All”), Dan + Shay (“Glad You Exist”), Mickey Guyton (“Hold On”), Alan Jackson with “You’ll Always Be My Baby” and a special mashup for “Drive (For Daddy Gene),” Miranda Lambert with Jack Ingram and Jon Randall (“In His Arms”), Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd (“Chasing After You”), Thomas Rhett premiering “What’s Your Country Song” and “Country Again,” Blake Shelton celebrating the 20th Anniversary of his first hit single “Austin” as well as “Minimum Wage,” Chris Stapleton (“Maggie’s Song”), and Chris Young and Kane Brown (“Famous Friends”).

It was also announced today that Lady A will join the lineup in addition to recently revealed New Male Artist of the Year, Jimmie Allen, and New Female Artist of the Year, Gabby Barrett, who will all perform on this year’s show. Previously announced performers include, Little Big Town, Ashley McBryde, and Keith Urban. Additional details on these performances, this year’s presenters and more will be announced in the coming days.”

Additionally, it was revealed that Luke Bryan will not be performing on the show due to his recent testing positive for COVID-19.

Keith Urban will return for his second time hosting and will be joined by New Artist of the Year nominee, Mickey Guyton to co-host. Both entertainers will also take the stage to perform.

Normally airing from Las Vegas, this year the annual event will return to Nashville for a live broadcast for the second consecutive year following significant changes to the show due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The show will once again feature performances happening across three different iconic music venues in Music City: Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, and The Bluebird Cafe.
