Hoda and Kathie Lee on ABC’s TODAY, invited rising country star, Jimmie Allen back to the show for another segment entitled ‘Guys Tell All,” as well as a special performance. The singer-songwriter, who recently dropped his debut album Mercury Lane, and currently has the number 1 song with “Best Shot”, has previously appeared on TODAY both as a co-host and a performer.

Allen sat on the all male panel with reality star, Ben Higgins, comedian, Chuck Nice, and celebrity gym trainer, Don Saldino. The segment is geared towards the idea of getting an inside look into a man’s head. The segment is all about women getting their relationship questions answered from a man’s perspective. Hoda introduced the men stating, “We’ve wrangled a few of our favorite men to figure out what was really going on in their heads- in a segment we like to call ‘Guys Tell All’.”

During the short panel session, the always humble and down to earth, Allen, shared his feelings on continuing to follow an ex on Instagram, as well as, if someone should date a man in between jobs. The singer shared a quick anecdote in regards to his question, “I dated this girl. She unfollowed me like the day we broke up, right. I”m glad I didn’t know- I found out after we broke up, that her guy best friend, they’re dating now. Dude even stayed at my house. Don’t get me into that.” It was one of those real moments that the entertainer often delivers, which makes fans, other artists, and people in general connect with him. Check out the video here.

Immediately following the ‘Guys Tell All’ segment, Hoda and Kathie Lee introduced Allen’s musical performance to the audience, as part of the Citi Concert Series. “He spent years in the country music scene trying to get his name and voice heard,” stated Lee, “and after giving it his ‘Best Shot’ Jimmie Allen soared to the top of the charts. This week Jimmie celebrated two weeks in a row as the Number 1 most played song on country radio, and he’s back to serenade us with his new song ‘Like You Do.’”

Right before playing the track off his debut album, Allen shared how he feels about his recent success with the ladies, “You know, it’s one of those things where you dream of something for so long, and I’m so thankful. I’m mostly happy because I get to honestly look my son in his eyes and say if you work hard enough and are good to people, eventually you’ll get your opportunity to make your dreams happen.”

Check out Allen’s impressive vocals and fun dance moves in the clip below.

Allen, who was named a 2018 NYCountry Swag Artist to Watch and also featured during one of our Live Swag Sessions, will head hit the road on Scotty McCreery’s ‘Seasons Change Tour,’ beginning in Dallas, Texas this week. New York Country Music Fans can catch the show this January in Long Island. Country Music Proves It’s One Big Family By Supporting Each Other

One of the many reasons why we love country music is the camaraderie and love that all of the artists and people who work in the industry have for each other.  Yes, of course, there is competition between labels, artists and songwriters to get the best song to the top of the charts but for the most part, country music is a big family.  So many artists support one another on their big milestones, they use social media to shout out to new artists getting a break or when a song goes to number one.  We love to see the way these artists and their teams react to each other and when something good happens for one artist, it is a celebration amongst the genre.

Most recently, one of our 2018 Artists to Watch and Swag Session Alums Jimmie Allen took over the top spot on the charts with his debut single “Best Shot” from high highly anticipated album Mercury Lane.  Artists like Jake Owen, Kane Brown, Chris Young and many more used their social media platforms to inform their followers about his achievement, possibly turning on an entire group of people who were not aware of Allen’s powerful song to go ahead and take a listen.  With so many artists on the rise and so many ways to hear their music, it is refreshing to see artists on different labels and different management teams take time out of their day to support such a genuine person on their big week.
Take a look below at some of the artists’ posts and the heartfelt captions they wrote…

Congratulations on your very first NUMBER ONE Song, Jimmie!

Jimmie Allen Co-hosts TODAY Show with Hoda & Kathie Lee

Rising country star, Jimmie Allen has been going non-stop since the October release of his debut album Mercury Lane. The record garnered the singer-songwriter a top spot on the ‘Billboard’s Country Album’ chart, and his debut single, “Best Shot” broke the Top 5 , and is currently sitting at number 3 on Country Airplay. Allen performed the song live, for Hoda and Kathie Lee on TODAY, during his national TV debut, last month, and is back again this time as a co-host.

The entertainer gushed about his co-hosting gig sharing “It’s such an incredible honor to join TODAY as a co-host. I am pinching myself right now just to make sure this is real life.” Allen joined the women for an hour-long segment, to discuss a variety of topics, from learning manners from Thomas Farley, taking a look back on the last 30 plus years of PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Man Alive”, and of course, sampling a few Fall wines with some wine experts.

One of the more relatable moments in the hour segment came when the co-hosts discussed dating and dating apps with the artist. The singer revealed that he prefers the old school way of meeting girls, and even that he met a girl recently. Allen shared, “The thing that I like about it [dating apps] is if your kinda shy, it’s cool, but I miss- I’m very old school. I miss the initial, conversation, feeling the person’s vibe, in person. Everyone does the dating apps- I support them, but I’m more of the, I want to meet you…A lot of people meet girls at bars, I like meeting girls when they’re not expecting, like catching them at Whole Foods.” Check out the hilarious clip here.

Allen gets even more personal with Hoda and Kathie Lee, when the ladies take a look inside the singer’s phone, naming the game, ‘Celebrity Swipe.’ The ladies learn that the entertainer’s favorite emoji is the lightning bolt and the “hang loose” hand symbol, and additionally, press the singer to find out what the last text he sent was, all featured in this clip from the interaction.

Next up for the rising star, he will embark on Scotty McCreery’s ‘Seasons Change Tour,’ beginning in Dallas, Texas, after Thanksgiving. Allen will also serve as support on select dates of Kane Brown’s 2019 ‘Live Forever Tour.’ Head to jimmieallenmusic.com for tickets and more information, and don’t forget to catch the singer on TODAY, again, on November 29th for a panel segment of “Guys Tell All.”

Jimmie Allen Performs Live for Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17

Jimmie Allen Nash FM

Jimmie Allen Performs at Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17

Celebrating his debut album release, Jimmie Allen headed to Nash FM 94.7 Hackensack Meridian Health Stage 17 in NYC to play songs from Mercury Lane.  Joined on stage by a guitar player, a bass player as well as a percussionist, Allen performed “Blue Jean Baby”, “Warrior”, and  “Back of Your Mind” before chatting with Nash FM 94.7 DJ’s Katie Neal and Jesse Addy. Allen did plenty of joking around, praising his favorite football team, the Superbowl champions,  The Eagles but he became serious when they asked about his time living out of his car in Nashville. “I was faced with a decision to make, do I go back to Delaware, and do what, who knows, or do I just live in my car for a little bit,” he explained. “My grandmom always taught me, obstacles come, and that’s fine, but it’s about realizing how you are going to get past it”.  He told the inspiring story of his time before the fame allowing fans, and listeners in on the struggles he has faced in the past.

One of Nash FM 94.7 Stage 17’s traditions is to have each artist look into the camera and talk to their future selves, something the station hopes to play back for them one day when they are about to play downstairs, at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden.  They call these segments “Garden Goals” and Allen laughed as he stared straight into the camera and simply said “Hey Jimmie, don’t suck” with a big thumbs up.

A highlight of his Up Close and Country set was when he mashed up a few of his favorite songs, stripping them down and making them his own.  The mashup included “You’re Gonna Miss This”, “Don’t Blink”, “Here Without You”, and “Lucky Man”.  “Ever since I was eight years old I wanted to have a song on country radio, I can now say that that’s a reality,” he said with gratitude as he thanked Nash FM 94.7 for playing his current single “Best Shot”, and thanked his entire team for their support.  Watch the full live video below.

NYCS First Impression: Jimmie Allen ‘Mercury Lane’

Jimmie Allen Mercury Lane

Last November, during our Swag Session with Jimmie Allen, we said we couldn’t wait to watch his career blossom, as he garnered more and more fans and mainstream success. Today (10/12) marks an incredible milestone for the singer-songwriter. His debut album, Mercury Lane is now available everywhere music is sold. Mercury Lane is truly a passion project for the singer. The record shows perseverance and versatility, two characteristics that describe Allen too. It is clearly personal to the Stoney Creek Records recording artist, as the record is named after the street in Delaware, where he grew up and learned the lessons that have led him to this point in his career.

The record is a complete body of work, offering a song for all music lovers. Allen, who NYCountry Swag named a 2018 Artist to Watch,  adds some flavor to mainstream country music, mixing in some rock, pop, and R&B influences into the album, produced by Ash Bowers and Eric Torres. From love songs to inspiring songs to songs to drink to, the singer is proving that he is the full package. The recording artist co-wrote on eight of the fifteen tracks, including “Make Me Want To,” Back of Your Mind,” and his hit single, “Best Shot,” with some of Nashville’s hottest songwriters.

Each track shows a different part of the singer’s personality and range as a vocalist, songwriter, and as a human being. “Deserve To Be,” one of the slower songs on the record tells the story from Allen’s perspective about a girl, who deserves to have the most fulfilling life and be treated like someone’s “world.” The track is sure to resonate with the millions of fans, who already fell in love with the lead single “Best Shot”, which is climbing up the charts.  The singer expresses another side of his personality with “Underdogs.” With its catchy hook and smooth beat, the song is bound to be a fan favorite. It is Allen’s take on an anthem for people, who are different, and trying to push through adversity. Although the singer didn’t write this one, we can see how the lyrics relate to his 10-year journey to ‘make it’ in the music industry.

If you’re looking for a new tailgate song, don’t worry, Mercury Lane has that too. The soulful track, “County Lines,” which Allen recently released a lyric video for, is sure to become a staple at summer tailgates. “County Lines” has an R&B vibe, with a catchy chorus that keeps listeners wanting to tap their toes and sing along from first listen.

Following the release, the Delaware native announced via his Twitter, three album listening parties, beginning in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 14th. After a short stint in the U.K. with Chase Rice, Allen will embark on Scotty McCreery’s tour, which hits New York on January 26th and Kane Brown’s tour in November, where he will definitely be playing music off his new record.

Jimmie Allen Plays Ole Red Nashville for CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Friday (Sept 28), Jimmie Allen took over CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown Live at Ole Red in Downtown Nashville. The Delaware native is preparing to drop his debut album Mercury Lane on October 12th, which includes his chart-climbing song “Best Shot”.

Allen sang four songs from the forthcoming album for the energetic crowd, “Blue Jean Baby”, “21”, “Best Shot”, and “Underdogs”. Along with performing live, CMT host Marley Sherwood asked Allen some fan questions. The two took tequila and whiskey shots before asking questions to get the crowd going, also toasting to Troy Gentry, his friend and country music star who sadly passed away last year.

Sherwood asked who some of his favorite sports team were to which Allen replied, “Well of course, football season is upon us so fly Eagles fly. I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan being from Delaware. With basketball, I’m a Lakers fan. Even though we’ve been struggling for a few years, Lebron made us relevant again. For baseball, I did grow up as a Yankees fan but ever since Derek Jeter left, I’ve been wearing whoever has the coolest hat, so it’s definitely the Red Sox.” Representing Nashville, Allen added that his favorite hockey team was of course the Nashville Predators, which was greeted by cheers and applause from the Nashville audience.

Not only did Allen find out that people who graduated from his own high school were in attendance at the show, but he also showed fan appreciation by bringing up a lady wearing his t-shirt. He was excited and talked to her on stage bonding and showing his genuine love for his fans. Lastly, he brought his adorable four-year-old son to the stage to say goodbye to the crowd.

NYCountry Swag first introduced Allen to our followers back in October 2017, when he joined us in New York City at Refinery Rooftop for a Live Swag Session. We were immediately hooked by his lively, optimistic charisma and beautiful vocals. Check out his session with us in the video below.

Pre-order Jimmie Allen’s debut album, “Mercury Lane” here and don’t miss his Today Show debut on Tuesday, October 9th. Fans can catch Allen on the road this fall/winter with Scotty McCreery.
