Morgan Evans Mashes up “Day Drunk” and “Tequila”

Morgan Evans Day Drunk Tequila Mashup

Morgan Evans just wrapped up opening for Dan + Shay on the first leg of their sold-out Dan+ Shay Tour which we caught earlier this year at Hammerstein Ballroom, and it seems like he is already missing the duo. In a newly released video, Evans shows what happens when you take his hit song “Day Drunk” and mix it with Grammy-winning song “Tequila”.

Accompanied by a looping pedal and acoustic guitar, the mashup starts with the Australian-native showing off his beatboxing talent. He then goes into singing the first verse of “Tequila,” hits the pedal to go right into “Day Drunk,” then switches it back just in time for the “Tequila” chorus. “Tequila” was written by Dan Smyers, Jordan Reynolds, and Nicolle Galyon while Evans co-wrote“Day Drunk” with Chris DeStefano and Lindy Robbins. With a similar rhythm, these two great songs flow right into one another without skipping a beat.  If you didn’t know the two songs were separate, you would think this was an original song.

In a recent press release, Rolling Stone called the mashup a “summery slam dunk.” And we couldn’t agree more. It’s a great tune to play at your bonfire or BBQ this season!

Evans isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He’ll not only be making appearances at a few festivals, including Carolina Festival, but the singer-songwriter is also hitting the road with Rascal Flatts on their Summer Playlist Tour. The artist doesn’t stop there, in the fall he will be headlining a run of shows over in Europe.

Evans is certainly making a name for himself in the country music genre, and we can’t wait to see what the talented singer does next. Watch Evans work his magic on this mash-up and his pedal loop above.

To keep up with Evans follow him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.

Rascal Flatts Up Close & Country for NASH FM 94.7

Rascal Flatts Nash FM 94.7

Yesterday after an early morning at Good Morning America, Gary, Joe Don, and Jay of Rascal Flatts were the very first artists to perform at NASH FM. 94.7’s brand new home, the Radio.com stage for an exclusive Up Close & Country performance.

Radio personality and DJ, Katie Neal welcomed the trio to the stage and after a few laughs, Jay DeMarcus joined Gary and Joe Don joking around that he was in the bathroom when they were announced. The band interacted with the small studio audience of lucky winners throughout the 5 song set, asking them to sing along and thanking them for coming.

They kicked things off with their most recent number one, “Yours If You Want It” backed by their full band of incredible musicians. Right off the bat their signature sound and harmonies were shining through, proving that their two-decade career of making country hits is long from being over. Next up they sang their current single “Back To Life” which was actually co-written by Dan + Shay’s, Shay Mooney. “Because he loves Gary’s voice so much, and listened to Gary growing up, he writes really well for Gary and what Gary is drawn to melody wise, so it was just kind of a no brainer,” Jay DeMarcus explained about cutting the track. The duo joined Rascal Flatts last year on their ‘Back To Us’ tour and they took time to recognize how incredible it was to watch their careers explode, ultimately watching them win two Grammy awards. We caught that show at Northwell Health at Jones Beach, check out a full recap here.

Rascal Flatts Nash FM 94.7

They discussed with Katie Neal about the decision to put their next full-length album on hold and release one single at a time. “This way if we do a single at a time, or 3 or 4 at a time, they all get and deserve the respect to be heard, I think,” lead singer Gary LeVox explained. “We’ve left so many great songs, that will probably never see the light of day on albums and now the way that things have changed, we have the opportunity that everybody will get to hear them.”

They talked about their Summer Playlist Tour and how it becomes harder and harder each year to pick songs for the setlist because there are those staple songs that fans expect to hear each year. They also chatted about the great list of openers including Lee Brice and Billy Currington on select dates. “Well, it’s called the Summer Playlist Tour so we just wanted it to be as many different varieties of people as we could to kind of make it a huge party,” Jay DeMarcus said.

Throwing it back to one of their classic songs, they performed “Fast Cars and Freedom”, a definite fan favorite. They ended the Up Close & Country performance with two of their biggest and most popular hits, “What Hurts the Most” and their iconic cover of “Life Is A Highway”. After performing they generously took time to meet each and every single fan present at the studio. Rascal Flatts The Summer Playlist Tour kicks off in May and goes through the entire summer. Dan +Shay Performed “All To Myself” On Late Night with Seth Meyers

All To Myself

Straight off their Grammy win for County Duo of the Year and an epic sold-out performance at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City just last week, Dan + Shay took their talents to the set of ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers.’ The country hitmakers performed their third single off their self-titled album, “All to Myself.” The new single follows unprecedented success with their tracks “Tequila,” and “Speechless,” both of which held their spots at Number 1 on the charts for numerous weeks.

The host of the show, Seth Meyers gave the men a warm welcome to the stage. With their album in hand, he exclaimed, “Performing “All to Myself” off their ACM nominated self-titled album, please welcome to the show, Dan and Shay.”

Dan + Shay took turns both harmonizing for one another and singing verses from their hit. Unlike some of their other songs, both of the men shared equal time in the spotlight, showing off their unique voices individually and their effortless blended vocals. The track recently broke the Top 40 on the Country Billboard charts and continues to climb. The duo has three tracks on the list with, “Tequila” currently sitting at number 2 and  “Speechless” at number 4. During their performance, the duo exuded so much energy, while jamming to the lyrics of the mid-tempo love song.

Check out the clip below to see Dan + Shay sing “All to Myself.”

The platinum-certified duo will continue playing shows as part of their headlining “Dan + Shay the Tour.’ They just recently kicked off the second leg of their tour, which features fellow country singer, Chris Lane as support. We caught the duo, with Morgan Evans earlier this month in what was a very meaningful night for the singers and fans alike. For more information and a full list of tour dates, head to danandshay.com

Grammy Winners Dan + Shay Sell Out Hammerstein Ballroom

Dan + Shay Hammerstein Ballroom

Last night, Grammy award-winning duo Dan + Shay brought their headlining Dan + Shay The Tour to the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City with special guest, Morgan Evans. Luckily for us New Yorkers, we were one of the stops on their completely sold-out tour this spring, making it a night to remember.

To kick off the night, Dan + Shay invited their friend and labelmate Morgan Evans to warm up the crowd. Evans took the stage with nothing but his acoustic guitar and loop pedal, performing in his signature style to showcase his undeniable talent. Opening up his set with his song “American” off his debut album, Things That We Drink To right off the bat, the rising country artist was captivated the crowd.  Slowing it down for one song, Evans began talking to the fans about his album and how he was picking the songs during the time he was seeing a girl. Mentioning to the crowd, “When your a guy that sings and writes songs in that part of your life you write a lot of love songs and I just want to chill this out for 3 minutes and 9 seconds. I really want to play this song for you guys, it’s maybe my favorite song I’ve ever written, it’s the first song I wrote for my now wife, it’s called “Dance With Me.”

Picking up the pace, Evans continued his set with his latest single “Day Drunk.” While in the middle of the song he stopped to say, “I’m here to warm you up for my buddies Dan + Shay tonight! This is the third show of the tour, I’ve watched the first two shows they are going to rock your socks off tonight. As I’ve said I got one job to warm you guys up! Are you feeling warm yet NYC?!?” Evans continued with the crowd singing along, doing just what he was set out to do. Not stopping there, he incorporated covers “Free Falling” by Tom Petty, “Hey Jude” by The Beatles, “We Will Rock You” by Queen, and “This Is How We Do It” by Montell Jordan into his song. Throwing it back, getting the crowd fired up while belting out the lyrics along with him.

Dan + Shay Hammerstein Ballroom

Before ending his set Evans told the crowd, “It’s early in the night but I’m going to go out there and say you guys are the best crowd of the tour so far! You showed up early in the freezing cold and are singing your asses off and it sounds bloody beautiful!” Performing his number one hit song “Kiss Somebody,” making it a moment to never forget with the entire venue singing back his lyrics. To close out the set, Evans did one final jam, performing his song “Young Again” while incorporating “Honey I’m Good” by Andy Grammer and “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon.

Next up was the moment everyone was waiting for, as the lights went down and a video started playing the venue erupted in cheers and screams waiting in anticipation for the duo to take the stage. Running out, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney kicked off Act I of their set going straight into their songs from their newest self-titled album including “Alone Together,” “Make Or Break,” their most current single “All To Myself,” and their duet with Kelly Clarkson “Keeping Score.” This was just the start of their set and the crowd was already fired up screaming the words to every song they played. After “Keeping Score,” Smyers took a moment to speak to the crowd saying, “You caught us off guard, this is absolutely insane. I’m at a loss of words right now…Thank you so much for being here, this is one of the most beautiful venues we’ve played in our entire career and you guys, I think, are like 4 or 5 songs in and Y’all might be the loudest crowd we’ve ever played for New York!”

With the night just getting started they continued Act I performing their hit single “From The Ground Up,” while the entire crowd belted out the lyrics with the duo. After the song, Dan + Shay stood there in disbelief looking into the crowd with tears in their eyes before the crowd started to chant their name. After the chant, Smyers began talking to the crowd again, “Wow that may be the coolest thing that’s ever happened to us, that’s crazy. Thank you!… I feel like we are letting you all down we are supposed to keep this thing rolling but man that was such a moment there, like the last like 30 minutes of our lives, we’re just trying to soak this in if that’s okay, I’m sorry I’m getting emotional.” Doing just the opposite they exceeded everyone’s expectations, putting on a show to never forget. Their hard work shining through each and every song they played, showing they deserve every last bit of success they have. They continued Act I playing their songs, “What Keeps You Up At Night,” “Stupid Love,” and “No Such Thing.”

Dan + Shay Hammerstein Ballroom

When it came time for Act II of their performance, another video popped up onto the screen showing Dan + Shay’s journey along the years including them winning their very first Grammy Award. As the lights came back up the duo were seen sitting on a couch in the middle of the stage getting ready for an acoustic set. Before continuing,  Smyers mentioned that New York City has been the loudest crowds they have ever played for and thanked the crowd once again saying, “I know we sound like a broken record up here and we get emotional a lot but this is seriously the coolest thing, we dreamed about this our whole lives and we appreciate you guys sticking with us throughout it.” They were nothing but appreciative the whole night and to show it, they took the time to check their socials to see what the fans wanted to hear, coming up with this part of the show were they perform some of their older songs acoustically. Each date being different this time it was their single “Show You Off,” “Sway,” and “Lipstick,” before bringing the band back onto the stage to continue the set. They covered the song “Someone Like You” by Adele along with their hit single “How Not To” to end Act II.

As the night was coming to an end with the Final Act approaching they once again thanked the crowd for listening to their music and coming out to see them live. They ended the night on a high note, starting Act III with their number one hit single “Speechless,” before continuing with their first debut single “19 You + Me.” Before performing their last song of the night Smyers said, “If the previous songs are any indication I feel like this has potential to be the loudest this song has ever been sung, we’re going to do this together, we are gonna do it big, we’re gonna do it loud!” Performing their number one hit single “Tequila,” the crowd did just that, screaming the lyrics back, making it the loudest song of the night.

Luckily for us New Yorkers, Dan + Shay will be back again in July when they open for Florida Georgia Line on their Can’t Say I Ain’t Country Tour coming to Jones Beach in Long Island on July 20th.

Country Artists Perform on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve went from seeing country stars performing in the pouring rain in Times Square to staying dry in Hollywood and New Orleans. Ryan Seacrest, Jenny McCarthy, Lucy Hale, and Ciara were the hosts throughout the night from coast to coast keeping us on our toes with all the performers to come.

Early on Dan + Shay performed their track “All To Myself” and their smash hit “Tequila” braving it out in the rain during their performance. Confetti dropping and the wet conditions didn’t stop the duo from having the time of their lives in rainy Times Square. Next, with Florida Georgia Line’s anticipating album Can’t Say I Ain’t Country due out on Feb. 15th, the duo performed their single “Simple” and their hit “Cruise” in New Orleans just ten minutes before the ball dropped. Along with FGL in New Orleans, Maren Morris took the stage with her hit “The Middle” that was a massive part of her and radio’s 2018.

After the ball dropped and the clock struck midnight, Kelsea Ballerini came out singing her new sassy-single “Miss Me More.” Ballerini had an incredible year and dropping this girl power anthem was just a taste of what’s to come for her in 2019. Kane Brown and Lauren Alaina sang their no. 1 duet “What Ifs,” then later Brown performed his new single “Lose It.”

It was a night full of country music on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve which certainly leads us to believe that 2019 will be a successful and promising year to come for the genre!

[Watch] The Voice Season 15 Finale Contestants Perform With Country Stars

Last night, NBC’s hit singing competition show The Voice wrapped up its 15th season with the last four contestants, Chevel Shepherd, Chris Kroeze, Kirk Jay, and Kennedy Holmes. The four finalists were competing for the winning title and a record deal that will change their lives forever. The two-hour season finale was jam-packed with performances from a multitude of different artists like Dierks Bentley, John Legend, Marshmello and Bastille, Panic! at the Disco, and Halsey. While even bringing out judges Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson to join forces for a powerful Christmas duet. That wasn’t all for the finale performances, the finalists had a special musical collaboration for their last performance in the competition.

Luckily for us country music fans, there were some country stars in the making, Chevel Shepherd (Team Kelly) and Kirk Jay (Team Blake.) The two finalists got the opportunity to perform with artists we all know and love, Rascal Flatts and Dan + Shay.

Throughout the competition, Kirk Jay and Blake Shelton have become great collaborators and friends. Shelton has embraced Kirk’s undying love for country music and even praised the contestant saying, “Kirk has got this twang that nobody has ever had in country music before.” Giving the Shelton stamp of approval, Jay has won the hearts of many and even turned fellow judge Jennifer Hudson into a fan of the genre. Last night, his dream came true to share the stage with one of the best selling country groups of all time, Rascal Flatts, performing their latest single, “Back To Life.” The trio and the finalist poured out their hearts, giving the crowd a beautiful performance filled with emotion and undeniable talent.

Next up, was Kelly Clarkson’s very own country Tinkerbell, Chevel Shepherd. The champion coach took Shepherd under her wing, bringing the pure country singer all the way into the final four. Over their time in the competition, the two have formed a sister like bond with one another, ending with Clarkson praising her saying, “She’s everything you want your daughter to be, I hope my daughter sings and she sings like you!” The country Tinkerbell took the stage with Grammy Nominated Best Country Duo, Dan + Shay singing their latest number one single, “Speechless.” The duo and the finalist joined forces, giving everyone watching a female perspective of the hit song, while she stood in the middle belting out the lyrics and captivating the audience with their powerful vocals.

Before the big winner was announced, country superstar Dierks Bentley took the stage to perform his latest hit single, “Burning Man” off his ninth studio album, The Mountain. Bentley gave all he had while performing, not leaving the crowd disappointed for a moment. Throughout the performance, he was seen interacting with the audience, even stepping into the crowd to get as close as possible, while the camera panned to the fans cheering and singing along. The performance was energized making those watching at home wishing that they were there.

After the final four performed for the last time, it was the moment everyone was waiting for. Coming in fourth place was Team Jennifer’s Kennedy Holmes while following in third place was Team Blake’s country singer, Kirk Jay. The final two contestants came down to Team Blake’s Chris Kroeze and Team Kelly’s Chevel Shepherd. Leaving the audience waiting on the edge of their seats…and the winner is country Tinkerbell, Chevel Shepherd! A big congratulations to the winner and Team Kelly, who has now won two years in a row.

Luckily for us New Yorkers, Dan + Shay have recently added a New York City date to their spring 2019 tour, playing at Hammerstein Ballroom on March 7, 2019, with support act Morgan Evans.

Chris Young, Dan + Shay, & Morgan Evans at Nash 94.7 Holiday Bash

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

Friday night (Dec. 7), Nash FM 94.7 took over Chris Young’s ‘Losing Sleep Tour’ with special guests Dan + Shay and Morgan Evans and transformed the talented lineup into the country radio station’s first ever Nash Holiday Bash. New York country music fans filled up the arena at Nassau Coliseum, anxiously awaiting the show to begin.

Nash FM 94.7 DJs Katie Neal and Jesse Addy took the stage to welcome the crowd and to introduce Evans’ opening set. The rising country star entered the stage with nothing but his acoustic guitar and loop pedal. This is not out of the ordinary for Evans, as this is the way he always performs live to truly showcase his undeniable musical talents. Opening his set with his latest single “Day Drunk,” the playful upbeat jam began to warm the crowd up. Evans continued to play “American” from his debut album, Things That We Drink To, then explained that he wrote hundreds of songs for his the album but only 11 could make the cut.  He told the crowd that he was so proud when another artist recorded one of his songs and he proceeded to play his own rendition of Dylan Scott’s current radio hit “Hooked.” With the crowd on their feet, Evans began to play his final song of his set which was his first ever number one single “Kiss Somebody.” Fans screamed the lyrics back to the singer-songwriter, until Evans took a moment before the last chorus to speak to the crowd, letting them know that every person who purchased a copy of Things That We Drink To at the merchandise tables, would be meeting him after the show so he could thank each and every one of them personally.

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

Neal and Addy returned to the stage a few moments after Evans exited, to introduce super-duo Dan + Shay. The arena erupted into cheers and screams as Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney began their set with their debut single “19 You + Me.” The duo continued performing their hit singles, “Nothin’ Like You,” “From The Ground Up” and “How Not To.” Along with a few songs from their newest self-titled album including “All To Myself,” “Alone Together,” “Make or Break” and their fastest growing single “Speechless.” Asking the crowd if there were any Rascal Flatts fans in the audience, the two sang “I Like The Sound Of That,” which Mooney co-wrote. Smyers took a moment to speak to the crowd, “Before we get out of here, we gotta play the song that has changed our lives this year. Just this morning, we woke up in the parking lot and found out the damn song was nominated for two Grammy awards, thank you for that. This is our first time performing the song being nominated for a Grammy in our entire career and it would mean the world to us if we make this the loudest sing-along we’ve ever heard.” Fans did exactly that. Every person inside of the arena screamed the lyrics right back to Mooney and Smyers. Click here to watch the moment from on our Instagram. The crowd and the duo continuously fed off of each other’s energy, making their set a sincere highlight of the entire night.

Morgan Evans, Dan + Shay, Chris Young

The Nash Holiday Bash wouldn’t be complete without a headliner, country superstar Chris Young took the stage to perform his biggest hits.  Young who has had success with 11 singles hitting the number one spot on the charts chose to highlight songs from his of his albums, kicking the night off with “Losing Sleep” then throwing it back to some of his first singles, “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song)” and “Voices”.

Being that this was a holiday celebration, Young took the time to explain that he had learned requests when he was playing a Mexican restaurant in Nashville before getting his record deal and he learned this next song. “This is sort of an unknown Christmas song but it’s definitely a country Christmas song on Alan Jackson’s record that I listened to as a kid and I asked him to be a part of my record and sing it with me, and he did.” He then played “New Kid In Town” which is on his holiday album, It Must Be Christmas.

Young recalled the last time he was in the venue, eight years ago,  he was opening for Luke Bryan who was opening for Rascal Flatts. “That shows you how long this has been, this has been my journey, and I was not kidding when I said I was going to say ‘Thank you’ a lot, I’ve got the microphone, you can’t stop me…” he laughed. “Thank you for an incredible year.” In between songs, the crowd gathered in a giant U.S.A chant, and overwhelmed with gratitude for our great country and his fans, the singer-songwriter stood at the microphone silent, allowing the chant to continue until it erupted into cheers. Closing out the night with an encore of “Man I Want to Be” and “I’m Comin’ Over” the audience sang along to every single word of Young’s entire set, making it one hell of a Friday night.

Back to Us Tour

Rascal Flatts Brings the ‘Back to Us Tour’ to Jones Beach

Each summer, country music fans from New York City and Long Island gather to enjoy their favorite music on the water at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater. The Back to Us Tour was the first country show to make its way to the beloved venue Friday night featuring Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay and Rascal Flatts.

Back to Us Tour

The pit section filled early, fans singing along to Carly Pearce’s set which was filled with songs from her debut album. “I feel like the luckiest girl in the entire world that I get to welcome y’all to the Back to Us Tour,” Pearce told the crowd.  Her set included “Careless”, “If My Name Was Whiskey” and of course her first number one single “Every Little Thing”.  She closed with her current radio single “Hide the Wine” after thanking country music fans and country radio for changing her life.

Back to Us Tour

Next up on the Back to Us tour was Dan + Shay, a duo who is already having one heck of a summer.  With their latest single “Tequila” going number one the week prior and the release of their incredible self-titled album just a few weeks ago, the boys were pumped to play for New York fans.  Not only did they perform songs from their new album including “Alone Together” and “All to My Self”  but they took fans back to their very first single “19 You and Me”.  Their harmonies and energy had the entire theater on their feet, swaying to the music and singing along.

Back to Us Tour

Just as the sun was setting and creating the most miraculous cotton candy colored sky, the duo stopped to chat with the crowd.  “Huge shout out to our country radio family here, we’ve got something to celebrate here with you tonight Jones Beach, we have the number one song in the country right now!” they exclaimed.  “Let’s sing it together”.  Head to our Instagram to catch one of the best moments of the night when the audience sang along to “Tequila”. Continuing their incredible set, they covered Justin Timberlake’s smash “Can’t Stop The Feeling” which started a giant dance party in the venue.

Back to Us Tour

Headliners Rascal Flatts have been touring together, as a band, for almost two decades, perfecting their live show and giving their longtime fans a show full of their hits and their incredible harmonies.  They released their latest album Back to Us last year and are traveling the country this summer promoting the new music as well as playing classic hits from their previous records.  Mixing classic Flatts songs like “Feels Like Today”  with more current hits like “Yours If You Want It” the packed venue danced along, feeling nostalgic as well as invigorated from the trio’s set.  “I look out at our crowds every night and I see everybody from all different walks of life, united under one thing and that is country music,” band member Jay Demarcus stated in between songs. “This is still the greatest country to live in on the face of the planet, so let’s have a party tonight, let’s escape for the next hour.”

Back to Us Tour

A highlight of the night was when Dan + Shay and Carly Pearce came back to the stage to join Gary, Jay and Joe Don to perform “Hopin’ You Were Lookin'” from Back to Us as well as Maren Morris, Zedd and Grey’s smash crossover hit “The Middle” and then their  throwback hit “Here’s To You”.  Closing out the night with “Bless the Broken Road” and “Life is a Highway” the Back to Us Tour was certainly one to remember as the first country show of the summer at Jones Beach.

NYCS First Impression: Dan + Shay Release Self-Titled Album

Dan + Shay

Dan + Shay released their third studio album today on Warner Music Nashville, the self-titled project highlights the duo’s undeniable ability to use their outstanding harmonies to convey messages of love and sincerity. “Our first two albums helped us build an incredible, and super-loyal, fan base, so we knew it was our responsibility to them to put out the best music we could on this record,” Dan + Shay explains in a recent press release. “Most importantly, we wanted to deliver a project that would satisfy the people who got us where we are in the first place.”

The record evokes powerful images, an especially high point on the record is their duet with Kelly Clarkson “Keeping Score”, an ode to letting the small things go and just appreciating life.  With both members getting married since their last album release, Obsessed in 2016, it is apparent that the affection from their wives has truly given the boys a new kind of love to sing about.

Either Dan Smyers or Shay Mooney had a hand in writing all but one track, they poured their hearts into this record, showcasing their songwriting skills as well as their vocal ability to deliver the music. Additionally, Smyers co-produced the project with Scott Hendricks.

The debut single from the project “Tequila” is currently sitting in the top 3 spot on the charts and was an instant hit for the duo, with fans singing the chorus back to them almost immediately after its release.

Dan + Shay will be hitting the area on Rascal Flatts 2018 Back to Us Tour where they will be joined by Carly Pearce on July 6th at Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater.  For tickets click here.
