Brothers Osborne’s T.J. Osborne Comes Out As Gay, Receives Immense Support

T.J. Osborne, half of the country duo Brothers Osborne who hails from Deale, Maryland is ready to live his truth and allow fans to get to know him a bit more, by publicly coming out as gay. In an article published today, (February 3rd) in Time Osborne says he is “ready to tell his story”.

TJ Osborne Gay

As the band’s frontman and lead singer, T.J.’s deep voice along with John’s incredible guitar skills have gained them a huge fan base, 7 top 40 hits, three studio albums, and have solidified their country-rock status in the genre. They pave the way for artists who want to bend the genre, and their live show (pre-Covid) was definitely one not to miss.

On his sexuality, T.J. has known since he was young, and has been out to his tight-knit family of friends in Nashville for years.  “I’m very comfortable being gay,” he says in the Time article. “I find myself being guarded for not wanting to talk about something that I personally don’t have a problem with. That feels so strange.”

Brothers Osborne

Although his sexual preference is private and his business, his coming out story, being open with his fans, and his decision to go public is a huge step for the genre. He is the only openly gay artist that is currently signed to a major record label.

Once the article was published and the news hit social media, the support from the country music community quickly came pouring in. Artists, fans, and industry members alike were sharing photos with T.J. along with congratulations and proclaiming how proud they are of the singer-songwriter.

Brothers Osborne: Skeletons – Album Review

Brothers Osborne’s new album, Skeletons is available now, October 9th. Take a listen and check out our album review below as we dig a little deeper into the collection of songs.

Brothers Osborne New Album Skeletons

Brothers Osborne’s ‘Skeletons’ is out now, October 9th.

We have come to love Brothers Osborne as a country duo who remain true to themselves and their music, highlighting crisp country-rock and heartfelt slower tunes. As talented singers and songwriters, the men deliver an elevated, yet enticing sound with their new record Skeletons, leaning more towards the country-rock side of the gamut of their talent.

Continuing to celebrate the southern-rock groove that Brothers Osborne has created, the record takes their message to another level. “If Pawn Shop was our introduction, and Port Saint Joe was like the first conversation we had with someone over a beer, then Skeletons is the moment where you start getting down to the real stuff and showing who you really are,” John shared in a recent press release, adding, “If you really want to get to know us, this is the record to do it.”

Skeletons is begging for live-music to return, as each song has killer instrumentals and arrangements that just need a stage and an audience! Beginning with “Lighten Up,” the brothers give fans the twangy sound that we have been accustomed to. The song quickly takes a more rambunctious tone, similar to their other killer rock jam, “All Night,” the top 30 single that comes immediately after. The title track, “Skeletons” is one of the best off the record. It features spectacular guitar rifts and an extraordinary amount of energy.

“High time to come to Jesus / You got skeletons in your closet / It’s written all over your face / Every little lie, stacked so high / Can’t keep your story straight.”

The platinum-selling duo continues to play for their fans. Songs like “All The Good Ones” and “ Back On The Bottle” are backed by a steady drum and quick and witty lyrics. On the other hand, “I’m Not For Everyone” and “High Note” take a softer approach. The former starts off slower and escalates into a more mid-tempo jam that has great radio appeal. “High Note” stays on the slower side of things but conveys the more romantic side of the duo’s talent.

Another standout track is “Old Man’s Boots.’ One of the more traditional-country tunes, the song is a lyrical masterpiece. Brothers Osborne expresses the importance of boots, country roots, and all that connects the two.

“Might not look like much to you / But there really wasn’t much they couldn’t walk through.”

TJ spoke for himself, John, and his band, sharing, “We want this record to show people that we’re here to stay. We are part of the cloth of this genre,” and we think that really says it all. Skeletons is just another impressive album by Brothers Osborne, and we anticipate many more in the future!

Brothers Osborne Release A Brand New Jam “All Night”

If you need something to give you a little pep in your step and put a smile on your face, look no further than Brothers Osborne’s brand new release. Aiming to keep the good times rolling despite the current landscape, the award-winning duo premiered their spitfire new single, “All Night” (5/15).

The new release is slated as fans’ first taste of the duo’s upcoming third studio album, the follow up to their impeccable, Port Saint Joe. Written by John and TJ Osborne with Andrew DeRoberts, “All Night” is a guitar-heavy tune made for the stage. Fans will definitely gravitate towards the enticing record and singalong-ready lyrics after just one listen.

“I got the good if you got the time / I got the moon if you got the shine,” the two cleverly sing in the first verse, only to up the ante in the second verse with “I got the rebel if you got the yell / I got the raisin’ if you got the hell.” Brothers Osborne remains undeniably true to themselves and their unique sound and we are here for anything they do!

Brothers Osborne Make Their Day Time TV Debut on Ellen

Brothers Osborne Ellen

Five-time GRAMMY-nominees Brothers Osborne made their daytime TV debut on Ellen. The duo performed their newest single “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” from their latest album Port Saint Joe. Ellen introduced the brothers saying “Our next guest has four ACM nominations this Sunday night. Here to perform their hit “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” please welcome, Brothers Osborne.”

What makes the duo work so well is their ability to show off their two-sided approach. Opening with John’s electric guitar chords and TJ’s hushed vocals, the song about a former self talks about how they changed after finding love. On Ellen, they alternated between TJ’s commanding baritone and John’s live-wire guitar playing as the song builds all the way to its finish.

Brothers Osborne were also recently nominated for four Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards in three categories, “Duo of The Year,” “Video of the Year,” for their song “Shoot Me Straight,” as well as their feature in Dierks Bentley’s “Burning Man,” and “Music Event of The Year.” Last year the pair earned 2018’s ACM awards for “Duo of the Year” and “Video of the Year” and hopefully they can grab a few more this time around. Tune in on Sunday night, April 7th on CBS at 8 PM ET.

The band is currently on tour all over the country from multiple upcoming sold out shows, festivals and adding in some dates overseas, there are plenty of chances to catch the duo live. For a full list of tour dates, news, images and more, visit www.BrothersOsborne.com

Brothers Osborne Release Video for “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)”

Brothers Osborne have always released music videos that compliment their singles perfectly, but this most recent video may be our favorite.  The touching lyrics are felt even more when watching the story they created to accompany the song  “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You) off their album, Port Saint Joe. The CMA and ACM Vocal Duo of the Year performed the song on their Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon debut back in January, releasing the music video a few weeks later on Valentine’s Day.

The video was directed by Wes Edwards and Ryan Silver, who also shot the duo’s award-winning video for “It Ain’t My Fault,” as well as, the video for “Shoot Me Straight.” The video, filmed in black and white, depicts the story of a professional bull rider’s struggles, as he tries to overcome his substance abuse addiction. The raw images of the man popping pills and reminiscing about his past are truly heart wrenching and vulnerable. John and TJ Osborne delivered powerful visuals to accompany their touching lyrics.

As stated in a recent press release, this video truly did personify the lyrics. John Osborne shared, “We’re very excited to release this emotional example of someone’s life being changed by another. We’re never truly ourselves without the ones we love.” This sentiment describes the video perfectly and is an important statement for people to hear and take to heart.

Brothers Osborne will continue playing shows on their sold-out headlining tour through April. We caught them at New York City’s Terminal 5 last month. This summer the duo will hit the road with country star Chris Stapleton on his ‘All American Road Show’ tour, kicking off in July. For more information and tour dates head to http://www.brothersosborne.com/.

Brothers Osborne Sell Out Terminal 5 in New York City

This past Wednesday night, CMA and ACM Vocal Duo of the Year, Brothers Osborne brought their country rock and roll flare to a sold-out, passionate New York City crowd at Terminal 5. The duo was joined by special guests The Wild Feathers, who warmed fans up for the platinum-selling duo’s epic headlining hour and 45-minute set.

TJ & John Osborne Brothers Osborne

With a wall to wall packed room, TJ and John entered the stage with their guitars in hand, ready to give the cheering audience what they came for. Kicking the night off with “Drank Like Hank” and “Shoot Me Straight,” everyone inside of the venue danced and yelled out the lyrics, we all knew it would be a night to remember.

Not missing a beat, the guys moved right along into their current single, which they made their Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon debut with the night prior, “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You).” Taking a moment to interact with the crowd, TJ jokingly mentioned how much he loves New York City with the exception of how expensive everything is. He and John wanted every fan to give everything they had in them for the remainder of the night, warning everyone that the next tour stop would be in Boston, in which the crowd booed, but it sure did work.

The duo continued to perform songs from both studio length albums, including fan favorite “Rum,” which concluded in an A cappella sing-along of the chorus from the audience alone. The sing-along continued into the next song, “Burning Man.”

TJ & John Osborne Brothers Osborne

TJ paused to share some of what went into their latest album Port Saint Joe, “It’s been a long process with this record. We shacked up in a beach house in Port Saint Joe, Florida which is one of the neighborhoods that got wiped out by the hurricane recently. We wanted to make something really different, we made it with our band here and it’s been a long journey with this record. We wanted to make a record that would not necessarily make a big splash in its first week but something that would be around for ten, twenty, thirty years. Then for us to wake up not too long ago to see that it was nominated for a grammy honestly was a huge moment in our career.”

The guys slowed things down a bit with “Tequila Again” and a stripped down version of one of their most well-known tunes, “21 Summer.” It wasn’t long before they picked things back up with a rendition of “Copperhead Road” by Steve Earle and the hand-clapping anthem “Ain’t My Fault,” featuring a 10-minute jam session and guitar solo by none other than John himself.

Returning back to the stage for the encore, TJ and John expressed how wildly great the night has been and if there wasn’t an 11 o’clock curfew, they would continue to play all night long. As their set was coming to an end, they asked the crowd if they had any specific song requests, in which quite a few fans yelled “While You Still Can”, which they played on the spot.

Ending the night with “Heart Shaped Locket” and a cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” which resulted in yet another crowd-only A cappella sing-along, Brothers Osborne thanked the audience and threw their remaining guitar picks straight into the crowd.
From the multiple epic sing-alongs to the countless guitar solos and jokes told throughout the night, John and TJ put on a show that every last person inside of Terminal 5 on January 23rd, 2019 will remember and await their return to New York City.

Brothers Osborne Perform on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Tuesday night in New York City, Brothers Osborne performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon marking their Tonight Show debut. The duo performed their current single “I Don’t Remember Me (Before You)” that they penned with Shane McAnally and Matt Dragstrem.

Fallon gave them a warm welcome to the stage as they were about to begin. From the beginning of their performance, as they sang “Did I stop and watch the sunset fade? / What gave me life and took my breath away?” they showcased their vulnerable ballad with mesmerizing harmonies. TJ’s raw vocals made you believe every word. It was such an elegant and touching setting that was surely connecting with the audience. This performance was a display of genuine talent and pure success for this romantic track.

Not only did they get to share this debut on the Tonight Show, but they’re celebrating being nominated for multiple awards at the upcoming 61st GRAMMY Awards including Country Album of the Year for Port Saint Joe and Country Duo/Performance for “Shoot Me Straight”.

Brothers Osborne is currently on the road as part of their headlining tour that started in the UK and Canada and kicked off the US run earlier this month. They’ll be touring over 40 spots through the spring including sold-out dates in Nashville, Boston, Philadelphia, and of course their show last night in New York City at Terminal 5. NYCS First Impression: Carlton Anderson Self-Titled EP

It’s rare to accidentally discover a new artist and find yourself immediately captivated, wishing there was more than just three songs available on Spotify. However, this was this case when I stumbled upon Arista Nashville artist Carlton Anderson’s debut EP, released January 11. Featuring three songs, the collection is the perfect introduction for Anderson, displaying both a sizable voice, a recognizable style, and a bit of variety.

The Cypress, Texas native released his debut single, “Drop Everything,” in May 2018, and that track is the third in this collection. It’s a fun up-tempo inviting a woman to drop everything, including both her plans and her man to be with him. “I don’t see a ring on your pretty little hand,” Anderson croons confidently, and you have to wonder how many times this line has worked for him. The song, co-written by Rhett Akins, Matthew Dragstem and Ashley Gorley, should certainly make its way to country radio in the near future.

The first track on the EP is “Country Music Made Me Do It,” co-written by Jessi Alexander, and John and T.J. Osborne of Brothers Osborne. The influence of Brothers Osborne is incredibly apparent here stylistically and that’s not a bad thing. Anderson blames country music on why he didn’t make it home to the woman in his life and this tongue-in-cheek explanation is sure to have you singing along. Lyrically and stylistically, this song seems the most familiar, probably due to the fact that it could have easily been on Brothers Osborne’s record. However, Anderson offers his own spin, and the results are fantastic.

Rounding out the EP is “Keep Abilene Beautiful,” a ballad that shows another side of Anderson. The track tells of getting back to where you came from, and it was co-written by Anderson, Tony Lane, and Tom Douglas. On the ballad, his voice is strong and emotive as he pleas, “Keep Abilene beautiful, baby.” Anderson took to his Facebook page to share a bit about the writing process. “I had some memories of some time I spent out in Los Angeles, a place I knew I had no business being, and with a little from each of our stories, the song came together. I threw out a verse that neither one of them hated and just tried not to say anything stupid the rest of the write. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t from Abilene, or if you couldn’t even point it out on a map of Texas. This song is about getting back to where you belong, with the ones you love.”

With a unique mix of contemporary and classic, Carlton Anderson’s debut collection of songs is a must-listen. We expect big things from him, and he’s already well on his way. Anderson made his Grand Ole Opry Debut on the same day he released his EP, January 11. Additionally, he’s currently opening select dates for Aaron Watson and will appear at Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California on Friday, April 20.
