Exclusive Blanco Brown Showcase in NYC

Blanco Brown

Last night songwriter, artist and producer Blanco Brown took the stage at Bowery Electric to perform an exclusive showcase hosted by his record label Broken Bow Records. His debut song “The Git Up” is going viral, highlighting the catchy nature and fun dance moves reminiscent of The Cha Cha Slide, The Macarena or even going further back, The Electric Slide.

At last night’s showcase, Brown kicked the night off after a warm and humbling welcome from BBR Music Group’s EVP, Jon Loba.  He told the story of the first time he met Brown and how different and exciting he thought his music was. Brown told Loba, “I want music without classification, music without borders.”

For traditional country fans, Brown’s music may stretch the genre too far past the limits however, his talent is undeniable. He opened his set with Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come” and from the moment he hit the chorus, his silky smooth vocals captivated the intimate crowd. He then performed the songs from his debut, self titled EP including “Georgia Time”, “Ghett Ol Memories”, and “TN Whiskey”.

For anyone willing to continue to support the genreless music movement, Blanco Brown’s tunes are catchy and you won’t be able to stop bopping your head to his unique beats. While “The Git Up” is the very first introduction, the artist manages to introduce a new subgenre to the country music umbrella, what he likes to call “Trailer Trap”. Read more about his backstory and how he grew up listening to country music with his grandma here.

Take a listen to Blanco Brown below and keep up with him by following along on InstagramTwitter, and Facebook.

NYCS First Impression: Blanco Brown’s Debut Self Titled EP

Blanco Brown

The country music world better make some room, because Blanco Brown is certainly redefining the genre. The brand-new artist released his self-titled EP today (May 31) via Broken Bow Records, and if its success is anything like that of his widely received debut single, ‘The Git Up’, it could mark a very unique and timely twist on what we know and love as country music.

Brown’s sound has been self-defined as “trailer trap” – part trailer park, part trap music, an ingenious genre of his very own which is heavily influenced by two of his greatest musical influences- Johnny Cash and Outkast.

Through the songs on this EP, such as ‘Ghett Ol Memories’ and ‘Georgia Power’, he manages to give you a glimpse into his childhood, split between the urban ‘hood and summers spent with relatives in the small rural town of Butler, GA., while at the same time seamlessly blurring the lines between hip hop and country, two genres that have always been thought of as polar opposites.

“I don’t necessarily think of the sound as being genre-breaking,” he says in his bio. “I think of it as being culture-bonding. If you listen to the messages of these songs, you’ll find it’s about the things we all go through as humans, not about race.”

“The Git Up”, his debut single released on May 2nd, 2019, has caused an overwhelming outbreak of attention to Brown, just in time for the release of his new EP. This undeniably catchy and loveable dance-along song has its own fun choreography, as posted in an instructional video on Brown’s YouTube channel, and has even led to ‘The Git Up Challenge’, consisting of swarms of online fans posting their rendition of the dance moves. Comments on the tutorial read ‘Cha Cha slide meets Old Town Road’, and ‘Country Weddings will never be the same.”

In songs such as ‘CountryTime’, and ‘TN Whiskey’, Brown mixes his stellar vocals with catchy hip hop beats that sneak in when you least expect it, and completely change the entire feel of the songs, giving them the best of both worlds.

“Making trailer-trap music really feels liberating to me because I want to bring people together. That’s what this music stands for: unity. It’s multiple influences and sounds and styles, all coming together,” Brown continues.

Brown’s authenticity, gift for detailed story-telling, artistic mind and diverse upbringing are the perfect combination for songs that will capture the hearts of many who can relate to his stories, are fascinated by his new self-made genre, and simply just want some music to listen to have a good time.

Blanco Brown Introduces ‘The Git Up’ and Trailer Trap Music

Blanco Brown

J. Kaviar

We are certain that you haven’t yet heard of Blanco Brown but by the end of summer, everyone will be doing ‘The Git Up’ at their backyard BBQs and tailgates. Brown split his childhood listening to hip hop in Atlanta and country music during the summers with his grandmother in Butler, GA. This singer-songwriter and producer works to combine both lifestyles and genres, collectively creating “Trailer Trap” part trailer park/part Trap music.

His debut single ‘The Git Up’ is not only the catchiest song we’ve heard in a while but also has a dance to go along with it that is already making its viral way across social media. Check out this news anchor from Charlotte, North Carolina doing the dance which has already garnered over 740k views.

This choreographed dance is super simple to learn but Brown posted a tutorial just last week, which will give you the chance to be the best at the dance moves before all of your friends. People are already learning ‘The Git Up’ and the videos across all social media platforms are garnering millions of views. The track is on Spotify’s Wild Country Playlist and fans can look forward to Brown’s debut EP which will be released on May 31st on Broken Bow Records. In the past, he has produced music in the hip-hop and pop world for Chris Brown, Fergie, and Pitbull.

It will be interesting to see how this new subgenre of country music is received, especially after the controversy and phenomenon that happened with “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X. Watch the video above and tag us in your version of ‘The Git Up’.
