Swag Spotlight Alumni Rayne Johnson Releases “Last Name”

Rayne Johnson took over the radio airwaves with his single, the heartfelt “Front Seat.” We learned a little bit about the process for that song and others in our Swag Spotlight feature back in October. Today, Johnson is premiering a new song entitled “Last Name.”

Fans are sure to be smitten with the singer-songwriters cheeky and romantic new single. “Last Name” is the song for people, who find it hard to share their feelings with the ones they love. The upbeat and groovy tune is a clever way of telling your loved one that you want to marry them in a roundabout kind of way. Johnson is a pro at cleverly weaving together intricate and diverse lyrics, keeping fans guessing with ambiguity.

“Oh you got it going on from head to toe/ There’s just one thing about you girl you gotta know / I don’t like your last name / I think you need a new one / And I’ve been holding on to mine/ Baby if you want one”

Vocally, Johnson appears to be having a blast on the song. His influences span from the classics in country to R&B and everything in between and “Last Name” showcases those inspirations perfectly. We especially love how Johnson chooses to end the song. Take a listen to find out for yourself.
