Kelsea Ballerini has been a mainstay in country years for several years now; however, it’s only in the past few years that she has emerged as an absolute superstar. While her music has always been honest and catchy, the EP that could (and almost never was) Rolling Up The Welcome Mat changed the game for Ballerini, catapulting her into the ethers. Today, Ballerini shares her newest project, PATTERNS, which feels like her absolute best body of work to date.
When chatting with Nylon about the record, Ballerini shared, “It’s very accepting. It’s like even when I’m feeling chaotic and even when I’m pointing the finger at myself like, “Oh, this is my fault,” there’s still an acceptance in it. Where I’m like, “I’m not going to shame myself for this feeling or this moment. It is what it is and we’re going to move forward. […] It’s what I feel like everyone in their 20s and 30s is feeling. It’s like I poked my head up for air when I turned 30 and I was like, “OK, all right. Here’s my life. What do I like? What do I not like? What have I contributed to both? What do I need to edit? What do I need to celebrate?” And then let me do the exact same thing with everyone close to me. That’s what it is.”
