Brett Eldredge and Edgar Boogie FaceTime with Kathie Lee & Hoda

Brett Eldredge with Edgar Boogie

Brett Eldredge with Edgar Boogie

Country superstar, Brett Eldredge made a special appearance on The Today Show via FaceTime this morning with his best bud, Edgar Boogie. Their appearance was originally scheduled for last week to celebrate National Dog Week, but was unexpectedly rescheduled. Just minutes before the quick interview, Eldredge took to his Instagram stories to tell everyone to tune in to Kathie Lee and Hoda’s segment. The duo did not make it into the famed New York City studio, but instead FaceTimed from the singer-songwriter’s Nashville home.

The appearance was all about the precious pup and his music video debut in the Edgar Cut of “Love Someone”. During the interview fans can see Edgar falling asleep on his dad’s arm, not at all phased about being on the morning show. They showed a snippet of the heart-warming music video, showcasing Edgar’s overall acting ability and incredible cuteness. After playing the clip, Kathie Lee jokingly added, “It’s a little unsettling, No I’m kidding!”

With Edgar dozing off, it was up to his dad to answer the questions, when Hoda asked, “What did Edgar like most about the dinner?” Eldredge responded, “The steak of course, I could not keep him off…Eventually he chilled out and he got steak and he was happy!” Before concluding the appearance, the country superstar said, “He did amazing the whole video, he’s a pro!”

It’s clear to see the love that The Today Show co-anchors have for Eldredge, before the FaceTime ended, Kathie Lee mentioned how he should be their co-host all the time, with Hoda instantly agreeing. Maybe the next time Eldredge comes to New York, we will see him co-hosting with the dynamic duo again.

New Yorkers, can catch Brett Eldredge on the recently announced Glow Live tour at the historic Beacon Theatre on December 11th.

Home Free Releases “Man of Constant Sorrow” Music Video

A cappella country music group and of our recent Swag Spotlight Features, Home Free, have released the music video for their soulful cover of “Man of Constant Sorrow.” Originally performed by The Soggy Bottom Boys and Dan Tyminski for the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Home Free made this rendition true to their signature sound.

The quintet’s mutual love for O Brother, Where Art Thou? made every decision for this video quite simple. From the location to their wardrobe choices, Home Free paid homage to their favored film almost entirely.

Filmed at Oak Hollow Farm in Fairhope, AL, the group wanted to monumentalize the song’s
rich southern history. In a recent interview with Billboard, the band’s baritone Adam Chance shared, “We’ve taken this song all around the world this past year on tour. It was inspiring to be able to bring it back home to Alabama, and really dig deep into the heart of it for our video.”

The group’s tenor, Rob Lundquist added, “I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen O Brother, Where Art Thou? It definitely put this classic tune on the map for a lot of people, and we sure hope we’ve honored it!”

The video begins with shots of the farm’s nature views before panning to the five vocalists on a dirt road under a trail of trees. All throughout, visuals of each member posted at different locations of Oak Hollow exude the authentic southern vibe they were going for.

Featured on their 2017 album, Timeless, “Man of Constant Sorrow” is the last of the album cycle’s concept videos.

Home Free will wrap up their ‘Timeless World Tour’ early next month, right before they head out on their ‘A Country Christmas Tour’ which will begin on November 24th at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. Visit homefreemusic.com for a full list of dates and show information as well as future announcements and follow the guys on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for updates.

Top 10 Tim McGraw Songs… So Far

Tim McGraw Top 10 Songs

(Photo by Ron Elkman/USA TODAY NETWORK)

In anticipation of what we can only believe is new music coming from Tim McGraw, after his most recent spree of odd social media posts, we went back to look at his incredible catalog of hits over the years to bring you our top 10 Tim McGraw favorites.

10. “Don’t Take The Girl”

From ‘Not a Moment Too Soon’ (1994) –
McGraw’s southern twang and meaningful lyrics make the song even more attractive to country music listeners whose emotions can be easily stirred by the touching story of Johnny and “the girl” with no name. This song gave McGraw another #1 hit to add to his growing list.

9. “Just To See You Smile”

From ‘Everywhere’ (1997) –
Pining over a lost love isn’t exactly groundbreaking in country music, but McGraw does it so well on “Just to See You Smile,” an old-school country song aimed directly at the broken heart of a man.

8. “My Best Friend”

From ‘A Place in the Sun’ (1999)
In the late ‘90s, McGraw dominated country radio playlists and this song was no different, spending two weeks in the Number 1 spot. The song is a classic first dance song for many bride-groom dances during the most special day of their lives.

7. “Live Like You Were Dying”

From ‘Live Like You Were Dying’ (2004) –
It had been ten years since McGraw had a Top 10 hit and this song came and shot through the charts proving he sounded better than ever before. Filled with lyrics to live by, this song earned both a CMA Award for Song of the Year and a Grammy in 2004.

6. “It’s Your Love” (with Faith Hill)

From ‘Everywhere’ (1997) –
The lyrics do not ring vague at all, but instead are heard from a deep place of sincerity.  McGraw and Hill’s very first duet was the song that made them country’s ultimate power couple and became one McGraw’s first major hits.

5. “Something Like That”

From ‘A Place in the Sun’ (1999) –
McGraw’s ‘Something Like That’ was played non-stop on country radio throughout the entire decade of 2000-2010. The song recalls the narrator’s youthful experience of falling in love for the very first time at age seventeen. Every time you listen to this song you cannot help, but go back to those days young love days.

4. “Where The Green Grass Grows”

From ‘Everywhere’ (1997) –
Outlining life in the country, McGraw gives all the reasons why he will live ‘Where The Green Grass Grows’. While this song only peaked at #27 on the charts, it is still one of McGraw’s most recognized tracks.

3. “If You’re Reading This”

From ‘Let It Go’ (2007) –
A standout performance from this special track came during the 2007 ACM Awards when McGraw paid tribute to the families of fallen soldiers, bringing a group of grieving relatives to the stage. The deliverance of the song was so powerful and it is still one of the most unforgettable performances of McGraw’s career.

2. “I Need You” (with Faith Hill)

From ‘Let It Go’ (2007) –
McGraw sounds great using his lower voice, but it’s Hill’s vocal performance that sends this song soaring. This is the first time they’ve fully captured on record the chemistry that they have. The power from this song and the music video captivates audiences to this day. The duet was nominated twice at the 2008 Grammy Awards for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals and Best Country Song.

1. “I Like It, I Love It”

From ‘All I Want’ (1995) –
This one is a classic oldie from McGraw’s powerful 1990s run. The second it comes on the radio, fans can not help but start singing it at the top of their lungs. It is still on every ultimate summer playlist and gets covered by many popular country artists today during their own live concerts.

BONUS PICK: “Humble And Kind”

From ‘Damn Country Music’ (2015) –
No Tim McGraw list is complete without the Lori McKenna-penned track, “Humble and Kind”. The song speaks for itself and came at a time when people needed it most.

How does our list of our Top Tim McGraw Songs match up to yours?  Listen to the tracks on the playlist below and check back here soon where we just might have some news on new Tim McGraw music.

NYCS Swag Spotlight Featuring Logan Brill

Logan Brill

Tennessee native Logan Brill is back with brand new music and took time to chat with New York Country Swag about growing up learning about music and what she’s been up to for last three years since the release of her debut album, Shuteye.

After her parents split when she was young, she spent her time between East Tennessee and Middle Tennessee and recalls the weekends she spent on her father’s 40-acre property, listening to her father’s records and learning all about his favorite bands.  “We didn’t have cable television, we would chop wood to heat our place with a wood stove, it was pretty rustic but it was a space to be creative because that was really all you could do,” she tells us.

Cultivating a musical space for her to learn, her father had a room filled with tons of musical instruments including banjos, violins and guitars.  Brill decided early on that her father’s love of music was certainly something she wanted to pursue as her lifelong career.  She was ten years old when she and her sister picked up guitars and taught themselves different chords from a Bob Dylan songbook.

She remembers her father and his friends having jam sessions at least once a month, sitting around playing all different types of music and she loved being included in those special nights.  “My dad listened to a wide range of music but mostly country and Americana from the 70’s so Grand Parsons, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, The Eagles, and The Band,” she tells us. She also recalls listening to Hank Williams, Johnny Cash and Alison Krauss, whose country and Americana influences ring true in her vibe and her sound.

Heading to Nashville after high school, she attended Belmont University and signed her first publishing deal with Carnival Music during her junior year.  “My friend who was interning at Carnival called me and told me to send her everything I’ve ever written, she said don’t ask questions just send me everything, so I sent her an email with recordings and songs I had written,” Brill explains.  “The rest is history, I got my publishing deal a few months later.”

Brill has recently released two brand new songs out into the world, “Good Story” and “Giving Up”, both showcase what she has been up to the last three years since her debut album.  The former, written by Luke Dick and Jon Randall describes her life on the road but is also relatable to all who have made choices based on the stories they could tell afterward.  “I’ve been out making all sorts of good stories on the road, it was meant to just be fun,” she tells us. “I’ve been having so much fun on the road, I wanted that song to represent that piece of my life.”

The latter, Brill wrote with Jacob Powell and Randy Montana and it delves into her personal life and a breakup that she went through.  She feels releasing both of the songs together really represent both ends of the spectrum and set the stage for more new music in the near future.

Brill just got back from a multi-city European tour and is currently working on releasing more new music, with hopes to release a full-length album soon.  “At this point, we have paired off a lot of songs from this new project, we have started releasing them without having a date for the new album,” she explains.  “I was ready to release new music, we want to just see and build a story for a full album release. We want to put it out in pieces so the fans can have time to digest each song.”

To keep up with Logan Brill, follow her socials on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

Should We Be Concerned or Are We Getting New Tim McGraw Music?

Tim McGraw has fans concerned and on edge after he deleted all Instagram photos and tweets on Friday, September 28th. McGraw is generally very active on social media, whether posting photos from the ‘Soul2Soul’ Tour, fishing in the Bahamas, or a peak at what he is cooking up in the kitchen, fans are used to seeing life behind the lens of the country superstar.

Early last week McGraw posted a very cryptic photo on Instagram and fans were commenting asking if we are getting new music or what else this could possibly mean. After wiping all his social media accounts, even his profile photos, McGraw tweeted, “I need Jesus or I need whiskey.”

Tim McGraw on Twitter

Tim McGraw on Twitter

Could this be a new song title, perhaps a sneak peak of lyrics or should fans be concerned? McGraw has not put out a solo album since November 2015 when he released Damn Country Music that included #1 singles “Top of The World” and “Humble and Kind”. In between that time, McGraw and Faith Hill put out their first duet album The Rest of Our Life and kicked off their ‘Soul2Soul’ Tour. Joining a new record label the same year also preceded the release of “Speak to a Girl”, the lead single from the duet album which was released on November 17, 2017. The release of the album also coincided with the opening of an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum titled “Mississippi Woman, Louisiana Man”, which celebrated the careers of both McGraw and Hill.

Today, McGraw hit fans with another Twitter & Instagram post which included a phone number, 615-205-5687, and a message, “I’ll Text You Back :)”.

If McGraw is following today’s trend of wiping social media in anticipation of a new project then we can expect something very soon, so Tim McGraw fans: prepare yourselves and follow McGraw on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Morgan Wallen Premieres New Music Video for “Whiskey Glasses”

Morgan Wallen, "Whiskey Glasses"

Morgan Wallen, “Whiskey Glasses”

Big Loud Records recording artist, Morgan Wallen premiered his new music video for “Whiskey Glasses” over the weekend on CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown. “Whiskey Glasses” is the singer’s third single off his debut album If I Know Mefollowing his debut song “The Way I Talk” and platinum certified single featuring Florida Georgia Line, “Up Down.” With over 16 million+ overall streams, “Whiskey Glasses” continues to gain momentum on country radio.

The entertainer showed gratitude to his fans for allowing the track to be his next single by sharing Instagram clips of concertgoers jamming to the song, captioned with “Every show ya’ll just get louder and louder on this song… and because of that, it was really you guys who chose it as my next single to country radio. Thank you for believing in it and for believing in me. Lets keep it going.”

The video pays tribute to the relatable and honest lyrics, true country sound, and the story-telling nature of the track. Directed by Justin Clough, the video begins with a heartbroken Wallen (and his guitar) reeling over losing the woman he thought he loved. The introductory clips perfectly personify the beginning lyrics and play on words,

“Pour me / Pour me another drink / Cause I don’t want to feel a thing /
No more, hell naw / I just want to sip until the pain wears off.

Eventually, one of the singer’s friends reminds him that he should not dwell over a broken relationship, where he was cheated on, and encourages him to get pumped up for the show he is set to play that night at a local bar. From that point on, the video shows Wallen, with the help of his boys and a little liquid courage (whiskey of course), bouncing back from heartbreak.

The singer-songwriter is seen “throwing down” whiskey shots, sporting a new hair cut, and performing his song on a wild night out. Although an untraditional break-up song, the entertainers antics are easy to connect to. Check out the brand. new music video below.

In a recent press release and exclusive interview with People, the Tennessee native candidly shared his feelings about the new single, “I think we’ve all been in that situation before when you’re trying to get over somebody and you resort to [drinking]. I connected to it in many ways.”

Next up for the rising country star, he will join the fall leg of Jake Owen’s 2018 “Life’s Whatcha Make It” Tour, with the next stop in Pennsylvania. Visit Morganwallen.com for more information and keep up with Wallen on his Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

Jimmie Allen Plays Ole Red Nashville for CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Jimmie Allen, CMT Hot 20 Live

Friday (Sept 28), Jimmie Allen took over CMT’s Hot 20 Countdown Live at Ole Red in Downtown Nashville. The Delaware native is preparing to drop his debut album Mercury Lane on October 12th, which includes his chart-climbing song “Best Shot”.

Allen sang four songs from the forthcoming album for the energetic crowd, “Blue Jean Baby”, “21”, “Best Shot”, and “Underdogs”. Along with performing live, CMT host Marley Sherwood asked Allen some fan questions. The two took tequila and whiskey shots before asking questions to get the crowd going, also toasting to Troy Gentry, his friend and country music star who sadly passed away last year.

Sherwood asked who some of his favorite sports team were to which Allen replied, “Well of course, football season is upon us so fly Eagles fly. I’m a Philadelphia Eagles fan being from Delaware. With basketball, I’m a Lakers fan. Even though we’ve been struggling for a few years, Lebron made us relevant again. For baseball, I did grow up as a Yankees fan but ever since Derek Jeter left, I’ve been wearing whoever has the coolest hat, so it’s definitely the Red Sox.” Representing Nashville, Allen added that his favorite hockey team was of course the Nashville Predators, which was greeted by cheers and applause from the Nashville audience.

Not only did Allen find out that people who graduated from his own high school were in attendance at the show, but he also showed fan appreciation by bringing up a lady wearing his t-shirt. He was excited and talked to her on stage bonding and showing his genuine love for his fans. Lastly, he brought his adorable four-year-old son to the stage to say goodbye to the crowd.

NYCountry Swag first introduced Allen to our followers back in October 2017, when he joined us in New York City at Refinery Rooftop for a Live Swag Session. We were immediately hooked by his lively, optimistic charisma and beautiful vocals. Check out his session with us in the video below.

Pre-order Jimmie Allen’s debut album, “Mercury Lane” here and don’t miss his Today Show debut on Tuesday, October 9th. Fans can catch Allen on the road this fall/winter with Scotty McCreery. The tour hits the New York area on January 26th 2019, click here for ticket information.
